The following. He's a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club Cowboys. This He's Talking Cowboys, screening live from the Dallas Cowboys World Hours at the Star in Frisco, flowing to the lives and now your hosts Isaiah stand Back, Patrick Walker and Kyle Yeomans. It is a Talking Tuesday on Talking Cowboys presented by Black Rifle Coffee Company, the official coffee of the Dallas Cowboys.
We are live from the s WBC studios at the Star in Frisco, looking back at week fifteen, and then of course we will turn the page to week sixteen as the Cowboys prepared to take on the Philadelphia Eagles. Back alongside Isaiah Stanback, Patrick Nose Walker, We've got Chris Beam in the back. M. Kyle Yeoman's glad you're with us, gentlemen. How are we doing better? Better? Today? Better today? Got a little bit asleep, We'll go asleep and it's time
to turn to page So yeah, we'll better do. We have to look back, Kyle, We're gonna look back at today for partner, as we are gonna take a little bit of a look back because we are taking calls today eight eight eight eight five five two two nine seven. It's a talking Tuesday. So we're gonna hit up Cowboys Nation. See what they're thinking twenty four hours. See, but they're not gonna take that Cowboys Nation that's still upset to
start turning over. Oh yeah, yeah, I mean we're effective definitely tomorrow as far as full oh yeah, full bone talking. Me feeling better, it's because twenty four hours has passed. I'm starting to emotionally get onto the nick. How's your foot? Uh yeah, I'm still in limp mode. Still there. I'm still in limp mode and will be for a few days. Is it sore today? Yesterday was more pain and to dating sore bruised? Yeah yeah, but you know, I'm not
going on nine our fellas. I'm not know. Every time you talk about the foot, I always think it's guy going on that we played the stairs. Somebody had had another gool yesterday. He tweeted me after the show and they were like, it reminded them of that scene in the Quiet Place. Oh yeah, on the stairs when she was going down the stairs. I was like, you know what, it was pretty similar, only she couldn't scream. I May. That's what I was just about to was the pitch
so so news and so news. Enough, he just went right past. It wasn't like cur It wasn't. It wasn't. It wasn't. It wasn't blood curling. But there were plenty of expertits was it? Uh? I would say it was Marvesha, It's Mark. I mean, first of all, it takes that. It takes anyone who has stepped on anything shop like that with a puncture wound. You know, it takes like a split second for the register in your brain, and then when it had registers, you're like, you know, you
lose it. So like the first like two seconds was just a void in your voice, like it has left you and it came in. Yeah, like you lose your air force. Second. Yeah, that was That was pretty accurate. Sorry for everybody listening that has headphones on and it's only listening to the audio. I didn't know your voice could get that high, Isaiah. That was pretty impressive of my offering. You know, when I was younger, I used to want to do voiceovers. I still really voiceover. Yeah
what's your name? From Police Academy inspire me? Oh yeah, so I always copy everything that he did. Think of his name the impressionist. Ye, yeah, yeah, I know what you're talking about. Class Isaiah is actually singing the national anthem at the game on Sunday. I don't Maybe, all right, let's do some news and notes Cowboys, of course, like you said, off today, and then they will take a
look ahead to the the Philadelphia Eagles. Let's start with Cowboys news, because we've got some Eagles news I want to hit as well. There's a big Eagles bomb that came down yesterday. Let's start with the Cowboys. Though, well that that sound impression needs something like that, some refinement. I'll be Michael Winslows by the way. Okay, so we're
gonna what would Rob do news and notes? First of all, we're not going to discuss it, but it's a news item, so we're gonna mention it and we'll move past it. Jerry Jones spoke to one or five point three IF from the fan this morning. One of the questions he was eventually asked, obviously, is about OBJ quick and quick out. He basically, the optimism sounds like it's leaving the room.
The air is no longer in the sales, you know, if you go back and listen to it, Jerry Jones basically said that every day that passes makes it less likely that it that it happens. Obviously, that's a complete one eighty degree turned from last week when he said stay tuned, this thing could break any moment. So there you go. The air is leaving the sales on the OBJ boat. We'll see if it happens, but looking less
and less likely as the days go on. Moving right past that late In Vanderesh yesterday that we were wishing the best for Lvee. We sent our prayers and positive energy to him and it worked. Ladies and gentlemen, thank you for that worst case scenario has been avoided. It is actually not a Nick injury on late In Vanderesh. It is a pinched nerve in his shoulder, i e. Shoulder sting or whatever you want to call it, but it's a shoulder issue. He is expected to return, likely
before the postseason. Obviously that would you know what will determine that is can the Cowboys went against the Eagles and put themselves in position for the game against the Titans and the Commanders to matter. But great news, Lvee. He's gonna miss this week against the Eagles on a short week, but he shouldn't be back this regular season, but most certainly for the postseason. That is absolutely huge. The fact that and dan Quinn even talked about it yesterday.
He is imperative to this defense. Facts, there's a lot of things that are built around what Lvee could do at the second level. And Isaiah, I know you've seen it on the film too. I mean having him back in the fold is going to help this team tremendously. But I mean it is gonna be a couple of weeks You're gonna see a lot of Anthony bard Bone Clark. Would you classify l v as the most underrated defensive player in his team? Absolutely, not even not even a question.
Because Dorn's Armstrong is finally getting his flowers, He's finally getting the the attention that he deserves. Eight sacks. You're gonna get that in a check. I don't think l Vee gets that. Yeah, people, people try to find reasons still to devalue Lvgre in the face of obvious evidence to the contrary. Those people don't watch the film. I'm gonna I'm gonna say it right now. If you're not. If you're hating on LVE this year, you're not watching the Pelt either you're I'm not watching the film and
or you're seeing it and you're just still don't like. Nope, I don't want to eat my vegetables. Nope, I don't want to I don't like the peas and carrots. Nope, the Isaiah and the offensive line conversation. Eat these pieces and carrots. But yeah, so how big is he though? To that second level though, he's huge. I mean, he's the one guy that you asked to come downhill and he's a guy that we knew would have a solid season simply because of all the changes that they made
on the on the defensive front. They needed to do it for his health. They needed to do it to obviously stop the run. I'm still working that out. But they're giving him an opportunity now to free flow and play without always having to deal with a three hundred pound man grabbing at his chest. So that's why he's been productive this year. He's taking full advantage of the opportunity that's presented to him on his one year deal.
They showed him that you got to prove it to me and he's been doing it just that, you know, and and to this conversation and will breeze over after this to the Philly to the blockbuster Philly News. Now the question becomes, is Jabril Cox in fact? Ready, ladies and gentlemen, the question has been asked weekly, weekly, weekly, weekly, particularly and my Twitter mentions which leads to insect facts. If you know me, why Jabril Cox inactive? What's going on?
Why does it lead the insects insect fact facts? Sorry? That? Because why when I have repeated myself continually about a particular topic, regardless of what the topic is, I just turned to insect facts and start educating the masses on whatever random insect fact I want. We could talk about butterflies and wings and dragonflies and you know how much
an ant can lift? Yeah, I mean you might as well get educational with it, right, So yeah, those who are listening and follow me on Twitter and start set the insect facts situation. Sobrial cox um Michae McCarthy said, one, what is the strongest insect? An army? End? Yeah? I was about to say it's an ant? And you try those search sciences what I do? Okay, Like Michael Parsons does national geograph. Yeah. Um. Mike McCarthy said on yesterday
that Brill Cox is quote unquote ready um. With the Cowboys having recently released a wave Malik Jefferson from the practice squad to make room for Anthony Rush in the wake of Jonathan Hankin's injury for nose tackle depth, they'd have now no linebackers on their practice squad, so they have two on the active roster as far as backups are concerned, because you're top three now you got Micah Damon Clark and Anthony Barr behind them, it's Luke Gifford
and it's Jabril Cox. That's who you got. And we both know Luke Gifford is a special team's ace. That being said, we don't know how much they're gonna be willing to risk him in the defense of capacity, but I don't think they really have a choice. If Luke Gifford best Jabril Cox this week for those reps, that's so I think you should give it to And if Jabril Cox best Luke Gifford, And though you know this practice these practices this week, then you give it to
Jabril Cox. But however you slice it looks like Jabril Cox is up. Is it possible he's just not moving the same way they anticipated when he was coming back from his injury. I know it's been a long time since he technically returned. It was training camp when he was back into the fold, but he was known as a coverage lineback. Yes, he's somebody who changes direction in order to play at least to his strength. So if he's unable to change direction, maybe he's not as good
coverage wise. Is that a possibility. I know it's it's a long way out, but maybe the injuries affecting him to this point in the year, or is he just not good enough to make the roster? Tell me now I'm asking. We're talking about jabro Cox. Is a Cox yet? Yeah? The injury affected him, Okay, no doubt about it, and it's unfortunate he had, But he had an a cl in an ACO. Typically for most individuals, most humans, affects
your ability to be as agile as you once were. Um, there are certain individuals who were created and not born that come back from acls and they're just as productive as they were before the injury, but typically you lose a little something with it. I would feel like with each injury, you lose a little something physically and mentally. And what we've seen so far is it's affected him tremendously and it's it's I think it has put a huge burden and wait over in a cloud over his
confidence on the defensive side of the ball. Being confident in your role on special teams being confident in your role on defense are two separate entities, two completely separate entities. And I'm not sure from what I've seen that he has that confidence back yet defensively. And the only way you get that confidence back with reps by playing, get
out there and start hit it. And he's going to be tasked with doing that on this coming Saturday against a very good Philadelphia Eagles team, regardless of who the quarterback is, regardless which is there, Wait, what are you talking about? Regardless Jalen Hurts is the quarterback, past Walker, I mean, he's all right, he's an MVP. Conversation With that being said, Jalen Hurts reportedly suffered a shoulder strain in the Eagles victory over the Chicago Bears in the
third quarter. Did play through that um and yeah, well, throwing shoulder. Actually it's conflicting reports because some reports say that it's the throwing shoulder, but then there's one particular report of Jeff McClain, Philadelphia, inquired word inquired. He's right there, boots on the ground, and he says it's his left non throwing shoulder. Yeah, he landed on it looked like right. So I'm no trainer, but I got eyes. But I have eyes. I've had my share of injuries together. That
looked like an AC joint spring old. Isaiah's about it, educated on injuries and yeah, so for those that don't know, it's a little bone right hill, Yeah right, And when you get driven into the ground, it's literally literally something. Depending on how severe it is, can look like Looney Tunes where it's like and it raises up. You guys, You guys remember Anthony Fassano, of course, yes, And they Vossanos separated his his ac joint and kept playing peace.
Never seen nothing like it. I remember Jim and those guys making taking dipads and molding them to his shoulder. He was out there looking like thriller like this, right, And I'm here my last game for the Dallas Cowputs before I got released and went to to New England. I had an acy joint spring and that joint is tender rony at somebody tries to reach out and say what's up, and you're like, don't, don't, don't, don't touch it, don't get out. If I'm not mistaken, I believe it
was twenty twenty. Dak Prescott dealt with that that injury. Uh, you're talking about the brain shoulder that he had to fight through the month of December. I believe it was a couple. It wasn't twenty twenty. It would have been twenty nineteen. OK, sounds because twenty twenty was heard sound. When you're throwing either shoulder, it sucks because if it's it's non throwing shoulder, you still have to pull with that army. If it is a throwing shoulder, then that
boy's gonna be on something. If he does play, he's gonna be on some magic. Right now, the Philly passing to decide it if he's going, oh yeah, the magic check haven't Philly, haven't. Philly has not decided as of yet if Jalen Hurts will be on the field. Obviously, they just need to win one more than they clinch both The NFC and the NFC East. If they leave Gardner Minshew can walk into AT and T Stadium and get it done, then they will likely put him on
the field. Mike McCarthy said that the Cowboys are preparing for both quarterbacks. And it's not as if the Cowboys have not seen Gardner Menshoe. They played against him in January of this very calendar year in the final game of the twenty twenty one season, and here was his
stat line nineteen. Well, first of all, it was the fifty one point explosion yet against Philadelphia fifty one twenty six with the final, but it was Gardner Minshue went nineteen for thirty three, only one hundred eighty six passing yards. He did have two passing touchdowns, but he had an interception. He was sacked three times, rating was eighty one point one. He took off and ran with the ball five times, but average only two yards per carry for a total
of ten combined yards and no rushing touchdowns. And this was without Michael Parsons and Trevon Diggs on the field. So yes, different weaponry for the Eagles with A. J. Brown and Devantae Smith. That is absolutely accurate. But again Michael Parsons Trevon Diggs weren't on the field when this stat line occurred. So I'll call at a wash for the most part and say that this is the film the Cowboys are pulling from to get Garda manshoes tendencies. And you know it's not it's not an unfamiliarly said
I'm common upon it, but he's not unfamilve. I've always liked him as a backup quarterback. Yeah, I mean he you know what I said yesterday someone used the wrong adjective for that guy. They said he was formidable. False. He is serviceable. Yeah, that's why he's eight and fourteen as a starter. That's why he got put back in in Jacksonville but then got benched immediately, etcetera, etcetera. He's serviceable. He can win games at the NFL level. Jalen Hurts
is formidable. That's formidable. Patrick Mahomes formidable, Josh Allen formidable. Let's let's be careful with how we you know, right, so throw throw words out there. Yeah, gardamnshoe. He can step in and win a game if you underestimate him. But if you estimate him correctly, then you can repeat the stat line of Isaiah has been a big fan ahead since he was at Washington State Stand Washington Stable. Yeah, I think it was wise. That's a player though, I
do I always have. I think I like his fight, like I kind of wanted him. It sounds like you want to get some credits from Wazoo. I like that about this is about it. Any complimences Wazoo player, whatever, credit. I think he's a competitor. I mean, you're not. You're not putting him you you don't want to depend on him for multiple games. But in terms of playing filling in from a game, he's very service that regard, and
he's a he's a little lightning bowl. He is. But it also if he is the starter, it's going to wildly change how Syrianty has to call this game. Now. The best run rushing attack in the NFL becomes not so much. Now they will still be able to get at you and run the ball um, but more traditional. Yeah, I Jalen Hurts on the ground versus Garden Minshew on the ground. That's not a conversation, that's not a comparison.
So it would work in favor of the Cowboys, and that it would be more of a drop back and throw game for Menshoe than it would be for Jalen Hurts. So it does change how they would have to prepare it. But like I said, Mike says that they're working on and I mean he's been around that system for two years now because he was the second year with Philly. So with that being said, he knows the playbook. It's not like the playbook shrinks any with him in the fold.
It may shrink a little bit just to Tad because he hasn't run certain plays, but in terms of the knowledge Gardner Minshoe's ready to go. So it's a big news story. I don't think it's as big this week as it would have been last week. They put it this way, if Dallas wins against Jacksonville, this might be the biggest story of the year outside of the Cowboys building, because not only would it be prior to this matchup, however, it would be with three weeks or left in the season.
You're only down by one game as opposed to three games, and so the length of the injury could really hurt some people think hurt Philadelphia, right, and that I'm glad you said that. The last point because that's what also comes into play. It's it's bigger than just will Jalen Hurts be available versus the Cowboys. There are reports that he could miss the remainder of the regular season. Now
obviously that's risk versus reward for the Eagles, trying to determine. Okay, well, if we the Eagles lose against the Cowboys, how confident are we that we're not going to lose out if we choose to sit Hurts for protectionary reasons until the postseason. So they got a lot of decisions to make. But
for the Cowboys, you need to win this game. You and that not under any circumstances allow Gardner minshoot the Eagles period, even if it's jayaln Hurts, but particularly if it's Gardener minshoot a backup quarterback come in and clinched the conference and the division on your turf. Nope, Nope, not going to happen. New Orleans, New Orleans and New York the Giants or the two that Philly has after Dallas. So those are two you talk about serviceable, two serviceable teams.
I mean, the Giants are probably one of the playoffs. The Saints are fighting to get into a playoffs spot. So if Jalen Hurts is not available for the final two weeks of the regular season as well as against the Cowboys on Sunday, once again, that's not final. It's just expected that you're expected to see Gardner Minshew on Saturday rather if he's not able to go for the remainder of the regular season. That's a significant storyline, But it also feels like a missed opportunity because of what
happened yesterday, what happened on Sunday. Of course it does, but it also sets and you're not but but and it also sets the stage for what could be an explosive into the regular season because if the Cowboys defeat the Eagles go on into Nashville and defeat the Titans, and let's say, Garden Minshew is the start of this weekend next week and the Eagles lose drop these two. Oh we're talking about week eighteen. It's coming down to
all the marbles, yea, all the marbles. So yeah, an interesting turn of events here in the NFC and NFC East. All right, let's take our first break when we come back. at and T Stadium. Good News will be giving you the uh the biggest show you've ever seen in this studio at Dallas, Cowboys dot Com and Sence It's going to be a part of it as well, just so you know. All right, let's give some u Let's take some calls here on Talking Cowboys, presented by Black Rifle Coffee Company, starting with Jordan in Maryland, our first Talking Tuesday called Jordan, You're on Talking Cowboys? Hey, how's it
going with great? How are you? Hey? I'm pretty good. Hey, I just wanted to make it I had a question about today. The only that can stop this Cowboys team as the Cowboys, So what do they what do they need to do to overcome getting out of their own way? I mean, I go back to all the way in two thousand and seven. I feel like that's when it really started. They're just underperforming the big game. So I'll just hang up and listen to what you guys got
to say about that great, great question. Jordan, appreciate your call as always, and Patrick Ald defer to you. I'll say twenty twenty two has been interested in that. I'd say they've performed well in most of their big games. Obviously, you know, draw glowing circle around the Minnesota game. I think if you look at the ones that they're playing in close games, beat a win or a loss, it's
because they're playing down to the competition. The Houston Texans game played down to the competition, the Indianapolis Coats for three quarters played down to the competition. The Jaguars, who are you know, better than the Coats and Texans. Still, the Cowboys are the better team. They were the better
team walking in. Played a little bit down to the competition, and you saw that over the course of you get up fourteen points, you get up seventeen points, and just like in Green Bay, another situation where you were the better team, you get this big lead and something inside you says, okay, we got this. Well until that clock
hits all zeros, you don't got it. So my biggest thing for the Cowboys is not only consistency, which is a word Isaiah Kyla myself have constantly pounded the table about for this Cowboys, and I said it yesterday and you go to the dot com you'll see the on second thought that says, inconsistency plays the Cowboys. So that's one. But under the umbrella of consistency slash inconsistency is stop
playing down to your competition. Stop you say you keep saying weekly you don't care what the record is, but we're seeing that something inside of you, be it consciously or subconsciously, actually does play down to the record. So yeah, treat the Texans of the world, the Coats of the world, as if they're the Vikings of the world, the Eagles of the world. And this team would be a one lost team because I still say Week one was the aberration that was just horrible, but this should be a
one lost team right now. Ditto. Yeah, yep, yeah, I don't really have much else to add on that. I just a side from the fact that along with playing
down in your competition is just execution. I think that sometimes we see a lack of emphasis on mechanics and lack of emphasis on the foundational pillars of the game, and you feel like you could just make it happen just because you're so and so, or you could feel like you could just make it happen just because you're the Cowboys, whatever it might be, whatever that mentality is and when you have that mindset, if you have that mindset, then your execution goes to crap because a man, my
skill sets not as great as I thought it was. Or okay, yeah, you know, taking for instance, like a dack. You know, two weeks ago, you came in there throwing a ball like a dog on bottle rocket, just like why why are we throwing a ball so hard? You know? And when you when you do that, now, I was like, yeah, I did my job, but you put somebody else in a bad situation. So go back to your mechanics. Along with not getting down or up for your competition, just
be who you are to make everybody play to your level. Yeah, I agree. There's a saying out there that amateurs do it and practice it until they get it right. Professionals practice it until they can't get it wrong. So these are all professionals, and you're gonna get it wrong time and time again because that's what the opposing team is trying to make you do. They're trying to make you be wrong. But if you're a good team, you're gonna win some games that you probably should. And if you're
a great team, you don't lose games. And that's what this team is right now. They're a good team. Don't win games, don't worry about it. But they're not a great team yet because they are losing games on their own accord. And that's something to keep in mind. I thought it was a great question from Jordan. Absolutely very angry people at you, Kyle. Why could you say Cowboys are a good team? They are a good team. People are gonna be furious. They're just not a great team.
I think I think most of Cowboys Nation would agree with me, honestly, Scott in California, you're on talking Cowboys, Scott, how's it going. It's going good, guys. Hey, I with u, Kyle. I think that was a good team too. But I got a couple of things here. I was wondering if you guys could touch on why we aren't maybe shading a safety safety to Colvin Joseph's Kelvin Joseph's side. And
also I don't think that's been brought up. I think this game was probably lost in the third quarter, right after Jacksonville scored that long touchdown, we come out, we go into a pass play right away from the fifteen yard line. After we return the ball out of the end zone, that Dak gets sacked and then the very next play gets picked up. I don't understand why you're not trying to settle down the team and run the
ball in that situation. And the other thing I'd like to see is, I don't think that's a pocket passer. Stop making him a pocket passer. Let's move him on the side, Let's roll him out, Let's do some you know, maybe quarterback draws up the middle, something like that. Let him use his legs a little bit more, get him more involved in the game. When he's in the game, he seems to play a lot better. And alls drop off here and listen to you guys, what you gotta say.
Thanks lot, guys, Thanks for your questions. Scott, let's talk about the film initially because Scott's doing some film study out there in California, and Ken too. Yeah, he's doing doing a good job. So shading his safety to Kelvin Joseph because I agree with him completely. I wrote it in my film Breakdown. Was the turning point in the ball game? Was the fifty nine yard strike to Zay Jones.
That was the turning point because at that point you were still up by seventeen before that ball was caught, you were down by ten, and then all of a sudden you started to unravel from that point forward. So why not shade his safety over there? Or have they done it on occasion? I don't think that they're intentionally not giving him support. I just think that this is a man defense team. When you usually you're playing a man defense, you usually have single high safety, and that
just is what it is. I mean, there is coverages in there where there was where there was cover four. I think the play that Kelvin got beat on, honestly, I think was if I remember correctly, I think it was cover four and he just bit on it. I mean his job is insured, always double moved, and he
just his job on that coverage is insure. Yeah, I think I remember it was cover four with a man law with U with Treybon, Traybon staying on the far side, he stayed on Marvin right and and Kelvin just got beat. I mean, you just don't bite on it, you give underneath. That was a ben but don't break call by I am really breaking out right now by dan Quinn and he just been on it. So I mean, it's not that he doesn't have support. It's just that you just
got to execute. Man. It's not you're not babying anybody. He's a professional athletes in Yeah, you know, you call safe coverages and if people still bite on it, then guess what. You pull them out and you put somebody else in. And that's what they did. What do you think about the Dak question about moving them around a little bit using the legs. I feel like they've kind of subtly put that back into the game plan. He ran a read option in the bread zone this this week.
We'll remember what I said several weeks back. I said, and we touched on this RPO situation. I said, give me some RPOs, approximately three or four. I don't eat five or more, but three or four, just enough to keep the opposing defense off balance. And the Cowboys have done that on a weekly basis. So to that point, I give Kevin Moore his roses. They are in fact running the RPOs with Dak Prescott. You saw an RPO that went for TfL when the Jaguars linebacker just sniffed
it out. That was one that you would have liked Dak Prescott to keep and you know, have a better read on the lean on the linebacker. But that will happen sometimes, but that doesn't mean you see plays like that and you say okay. You look at Dak and you say, okay, just make the better read, but don't let that deter you from running our pos in the future. So they've installed them and they're actually calling them, and more often than not, they've been gainers versus plays that
have been dropped in the backfield for a loss. So Cowboys are making strides in that capacity. Dak Prescott, he's making strides as far as seeing green or non RPO plays and taking off, But you would like to see that more often because there are still times where the green sea parts and you love that he's keeping his eyes down downfield. But it also goes back to fighting,
living to fight for another day. So if you see that the coverage windows are being lengthened and you can't get that guy downfield and you have the grass in front of you, take that three yards, that four yards. Now you turn, you avoid third and ten because now you're third and five, and then that's more smore man, what I want to see? What do you want to see him? Throw the ball out of bounds. That's all I want to see. That's what I want for Christmas. I want to see Dak Prescott when he gets out
the pocket. Sometimes it's simply just throw the ball out of bounds. So listen, he's getting out of the pocket. Usually when Dak's having a good game, he's usually on the move. So to his church caller's point, absolutely play action. He's getting out the pocket. So Kella Moore is calling, that's that's happening. Okay, that's where he's getting most of
his yards from. He's on the move. Kay over routes to Cedee Lamb, dumping off the dog shows all these kind of things right, so easy, high precision passes for Dak. The problem is, and a lot of his interceptions are really starting to come from him trying to make a play when somebody is not necessarily open, trying to force it. I'm now I am unwilling to give up on my guys. And because I'm unwilling to give up on my guys, I'm going to give my guys a chance to make
a play no matter what. Get out of that mindset. When it's there is there, you take it. When it is not there, throw it out of bounds and have the confidence that you guys are gonna move to chains on the next play. Gotta get it again, another opportunity. Let's take our second break. How's it going? You're on Talking Cowboys? All going good? What's up? Fellas? Nothing much? How are you okay? Complaining? It wouldn't do no good if I did? There you go? There you go? All right? Two quick questions. First, one for Isaiah, are you feeling at all a little bit more comfortable about the offensive line with having a TYROLN. Smith over on the right side. It seemed like he got most of the snaps last week, and I think
he'd be good over there. And second, do y'all think we might possibly see some of these corners working from the practice squad this week, whether it's Jalen Hurts or Gardner Minshew on the other side, throwing the rock around just to see what we got, because I mean, he can't hurt. But that's all I got. I appreciate you guys taking my call. Go cowboys, and y'all have a
good rest of your day. There we go, Sean and Hot Springs calling us on a talking Tuesday, Isaiah, I'll start with you offensive line talk again, Sean trying to get me. He's trying to get you in trouble. Sean. I'm not sure if you heard yesterday's episode, if you heard it, if you hadn't go back listen to think little little minnows? Still, am I more confident to say I'm more confident with say that I believe that our current lineup was is better than it was when Terran
Steel was at right tackle? Right? Is that fair? Okay? Am I more confident right now? In that? I can't say that I am? I can't say that I am yet I want Tyrn I left tackle. That's that's what I mean. I don't know how it was to answer confident? Am I confident in this versus the I mean, what we what are we comparing it to? Are we saying Tyrn versus Terence Steel at right tackles ball? I mean, yeah,
Teren Steel's not on the team anymore. If it's Tyrn versus Tarran Steele, no, I'm not more confident at the right tackle because t is the right tackle. If it's Tyring versus Ball, that's not even a that's not even a question. That's what it is. It's that It's like, do I want to drive a you know, I don't know. Yeah, yeah, you're trying to come up with a metaphor, had one. I didn't. I didn't believe it was a sponsor Hall
protect the team. Come, uh, let's let's talk about corners on the practice squad Patrick, anybody that could step up there? I know there's a couple, you know what, Um, there's I mean there's a guy that was inactive this week too. The the on second thought, that's on the dot com. I and Nick and I pinned that yesterday at around eleven am. Um, and I will read to you exactly what that says. I would, you know, kind of spoiler alert on my own piece, But still go read it anyway,
because you know worthy clicks are good. Uh. That means for me unleashing Kendall Sheffield, McKenzie, Alexander and Trey von mullen to lock coins with Nashan Wright and Kelvin Joseph and possibly toss Israel mcquamu in that mix as well, to finally get a handle on this situation. Not five hours later, defensivecording to dan Quinn basically said it's going to be an open competition there. I'm going to assume dan Quinn read my on second thought because he's just great.
Thanks for reading it, Dan, and thanks for reacting appropriately. You know they question about is that when you guys speak with Al Harris? Okay, whenever the coaches are available, just do me a favor. Can you ask him why with him having been a very physical corner, he was a very much soul. He could shadow you, but he was very much So I'm gonna get up in your face both hand and chess cabinet. Okay, I remember I always that got Why is he not enacting that here?
As a coach, They're doing a lot more shadowing, a lot more playing from off. Why are he why is he not releasing the hounds in terms of letting these guys go up there and put hands. I think that's deference to dan Quinn, to be honest with you, because if you look at to a degree, because if you look at the system, and you know better than most, if you look at the system in Seattle, there was
physical right. But Sherman wasn't that al Harris built. As far as here's the free smoke, Sherman was more I'm going to give you a little bit because I have the length and athleticism to recover clothes and get this interception. That's why Sherman was so dynamic. That's a different skill set than an al Harris and you can agree with that. So I think it's a situation where, especially when you have these young guys you and we mentioned this a few weeks ago, why is this guy playing off or
that guy playing off? And it's because there might not be enough trust there just yet for me to say, hey, look, Kelvin, Joseph, go put your hands in this guy's chest at the line of scrimmage. Jam him up for five yards. I trust that if he gets the release, you can still track him and get this pass, breakup or better a takeaway. But if you feel like you're still test driving a guy, you're going to play that guy off. They played Kelvin Joseph off of Zay Jones and it still didn't work.
So if you don't have the confidence that he can press the man, and now you don't have the confidence that he can play off the man either, we are at that point where the open competition should happen. So Craig von Mullen is who you were talking about who was made inactive. I can understand why he was. He was claimed off waivers only a few days before the game, similar to t Y Hilton joining only a few days on the opposite side of the ball. But for me,
the question mark remains. Kendall Sheffield has been here since October. McKinsey Alexander has been here going on three weeks now. You had two veteran options on the practice. Could elevate them, could have elevated no elevations if either of them. That has two and will likely change this week. Also, by the way, you mentioned Israel mcquamo in there as well. I asked him the other day in the locker room. I said, would you ever move back to corner and
would you ever move. He said, what I there you go? Absolutely, there you go. I asked him. I was like, is that just where you're comfortable? He goes, Yeah, that's that's my homesy one, that's home smoke, that's home for me. So yeah, Israel mcquamo could be an option if he gets in. The coaches ear enough to do so. They like him at safety and they like him on special teams.
I want them physically the line of scrimmage. Yeah, that's a couple of that with this, with this defensive front, you don't allow receivers get going just the way he said. That was very peasing carrots of Isaiah there. I want physicality cutting this gracious Gimi man. I want Marco in Italy to be on Talking Cowboys. Marco, you're on the line. How's it going from across the pond? Hey guys, good morning. How are you? Thank you for having me back? What's on your mind? I wanted to share my view on
the team with you. I agree with you. I mean, the team is good, does not create and over the last ten fifteen years, burying devastating injuries. We've always been good, let's say our eight out of ten, but never good enough. To win at all, and the reason being, in my opinion, the culture of the franchise since Jimmy Johnson left. Of course they want to win, but at the end of the day, if you're a Dallas Cowboys, life is beautiful anyway. For example, take that after t B twelve and my homes,
he's the most famous quarterback in the NFL. People may not know who the Rems quarterback is, but everybody knows that. As a consequence, they don't put enough attention to details that are the franchises have and they end up short of the goal each year. Penalties will calls, not because
they're incompetence or two players, but due to lack of attention. So, in my opinion, complacency has no room in the NFL, and the Cowboys are a complainant organization when compared with the top franchises of the league such as the England or Casey so good but not good enough. And I think the reason is the culture. It's not the people.
I'm not pointing fingers to the coaches, the players. I think that if you transfer this organization, this roster to another franchise, they may end up having better results because of the culture. I would like to hear your views on this, and you know, I wish you Americ Christmas a great twenty twenty three and go Cowboys. The same to you, Marco. Thanks Marco, appreciate your thoughts. I would
love to dive into that. I really would, but we don't have that's like a week long conversation because that's the fact of the matter of what it means to have the Star. I mean, there's a tension on you, but there's also a pride factor that comes with it too, yes, and that pride factor could either be a good thing or it could be a bad thing. So that's part of it. And if you're not mentally ready for that as a player in the NFL, it's going to come back and hurt you at some point. Heavy is the
head that where's the crown. And there's a reason pride is one of these seven deadly sins. If if you I did consume you and use it, you know, to counteract productivity, then I mean, it's going to be your downfall. So for the Cowboys, it's it's the most valuable sports organization on the planet. It has the most eyes and ears watching it. And like how I said, it comes
with a ton of pressure to deliver. And if you look at it, the Cowboys have had more success as far as regular season is concerned over the past decade or more than most of the other NFL teams. But it's not ever going to be weighted the same way, and it doesn't matter if that's fair or not. Once you put this on your helmet, this star expectations rise. So five Super Bowls, you've been chasing a sixth since the mid nineties. It's now we're never really for a
lot of these players. And I will say this and I'll toss it back to you guys when you mentioned Dak and you mentioned some of these other guys, keep in mind most of this roster is playing for their lives. This is a game of attrition. The bottom half of the roster doesn't know if they will be in this building in a uniform next year. They don't know if there will be in anyone's building, so they're really leaving
it all on the field. But as a culture, I understand that thought process because when you go twenty five, twenty six years without getting to the Promised Land or even the NFC Championship, you have to take those types of criticisms, and it's fair to throw them on the Cowboys right now. I mean, you played with the star on your helmet, so you've got to have some kind of thought to that. I mean, yeah, there's weight that comes with it. I mean, but that's not what you're
not thinking about that while you're playing. Yeah, you're not thinking about No, you are between games though, Monday, are you are? Because you're humane and not really I didn't if your filter isn't set up correctly and you're consuming all of this Skip Baylisses of the world and you're watching all these steven A's of the world as a human, it will start to infiltrate. You're subconscious. That's why you
have to be care for what you say as a robot. No, I mean serious, man, I think it's just be careful about what I was too. I was too focused on the individual, you know, my my assignments and my battles for that week. I mean, okay, you, I mean you you're not at that time. You're not worried. We're not worried about the way of the world. You're not worried about how many super Bowls came before. You're not. You're not worried about all those things. You're worried about keeping
your dog on job. You're worried about winning ball games and hopefully adding you know, some bread and some jewelry to your kind of jewels. Yeah, I mean, I mean, and when you take care of those things, and obviously the umbrella wins too, But I mean, honestly, players, players, you gotta take care of yourself. Man. Sure, but it goes back to what Patrick was saying to. You know, it goes back to what Patrick was saying too. And you know this as much as anybody, but you're playing
for your football life. You're playing to stick around your resume. There's a part of it there and especially here whenever they don't. Really, if you ball out with that on your helmet, you're good. Yeah, But if you don't, if you don't move on, because it's not it's not weighted evenly, No, it's not. You could have the same stats for the Jets that you would hear for the for the Cowboys. And which do you think is gonna make you look worse quart of public opinion? No doubt? It goes Yep,
good but not good enough. That's a pretty much the topic of conversation today on a Talking Tuesday. We'll be back tomorrow. We're officially turning the page to Week sixteen and the Philadelphia Eagles. We will preview the Cowboys defense going up against that Philly offense, possibly without Jalen Hurts. Thanks to Jordan, Scott, Sean, and Marco for calling in. Chris Beam in the back, Isaiah standback, Patrick Nose walk around, Kyle Yeoman's saying so long. We'll see tomorrow with more
Talking Cowboys. This has been a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
