This He's talking Cowboys Screaming live from the Dallas Cowboys World headquarters at the Star in Frisco. Here are Mickey Spagnola, Bryan Brats, Rob Phillips, and Taylor Stern. Welcome everybody into the SWBC Mortgage Studio. It is talking Tuesday, and we have some technical difficulties, but we are on and rolling here. I got Robin Brian Mickey still you know growing that beard somewhere. He'll be back soon. Do we know where he is? We we don't know the man of the wilderness,

and we'll just let that go. Yeah, probably skiing. Yeah, we'll be fine. Are you guys glad to be back though, after your indie trip? Yeah, there's still a lot of work to do, would you say? Fifty days till the draft? Fifty one to day fifty tomorrow, so yeah, and the Draft show rolling right after this, right after this twelve fifteen. Yeah, I get this magazine we're working on, just grind it

on tape. Just yeah, I mean, it's just it's a little bit different because we've added a couple more guys to every position, so that makes it a little bit of a different aspect for me. But yeah, I'm looking forward to kind of getting that thing done into the month, hopefully be out first of April. It's hilarious because when Brian does start looking at guys early December December and like, why is he doing that? You know, it's so far away from now, and then all of a sudden you

blink in it's time. Yeah. I just it's amazing. Once you get done with the combine, then now you're into Pro days, and once the Pro days start, you're going to draft. That's just the way it is. I mean, it's it's crazy and hopefully we'll get hit some Pro days, but that's a that's a draft show day. Absolutely. And guys, if you are interested in being in the DFW area at AT and T Stadium for the NFL Draft, there is still time to sign up on the NFL Fan

Mobile Pass. You have until March four teams duce so then it's kind of just luck of the draw lottery, yeah, to get those draft tickets. But you still have the time to do so. And if you guys have been on Twitter lately, you might have seen that, just like we all did, DeMarcus Lawrence found out that he did, in fact get franchise tagged ahead of today's deadline at

three pm, which was awesome. Yeah. I think DeMarcus Lawrence has handled the franchise tag situation as well as probably anyone, right right, well, yeah, yeah, I mean he's thirteen million dollars. I mean, it's what you made last year. It's slightly below what I made. Yeah, so I'm trying to do my taxes right now. It's a little difficult. But no, you know, this is this is kind of where I was going here. This is I'm okay with what the Cowboys did here, and I understand they couldn't get a

deal done with Lawrence. I mean for a long term, and this will buy him, buy him an opportunity to do that, but make him, make him play another year, make him show you that he's worth you know, the amount of money that you're going to have to use to sign him long term. He seems fine with that. He won Twitter yesterday, by the way, Oh he won Twitter. I mean, you know, immediately Charon, Hey, I didn't know this was even happening. Thanks everyone, then saying you know,

while I'm on here, Dez caught it. Then later in the evening, his family only left him one slice of pizza, humbled him and Brandon he echoed your tax messages. Funny gift. But absolutely. How great is it that he actually signed the tender last night? Well, I think it's good from

the standpoint of there's no contentiousness, and there was. You know, I think there was a little bit with Dez Bryant three years ago and he didn't want to sign the tag, didn't sign the tag, and you went four months of okay, can we get something done? Is he going to hold out all that kind of stuff? That's not the case here. It reminds me of I think Anthony Spencer several years ago signed the franchise tag, like, okay, you want to

give me twelve million guaranteed right on the spot? Fine, where do I sign about twenty four million dollars for playing one year? Not bad? And I think, you know, it's like Dave tweeted yesterday, imagine if you find out on Twitter that you're gonna be handed seventeen million bucks, you know it's not a bad gig. And so yeah, there's that too. That's the thing. Obviously, he's gonna want long term security, and you know the Cowboys have said

they want to try to work something with him. They haven't until July sixteenth to do so, but we'll see. I mean, maybe he winds up just playing on the tag, and if he's okay with that, fine, that would give him an opportunity to maybe cash in even more next year if he has another big time sack season, and

from the Cowboys standpoint, maybe it's a win win. You see him try to replicate what he's done last year, make it two years in a row, because last year was the first time he's ever had, you know, double digit sacks and been a Pro Bowl type guy. So maybe it's a win win type deal. Of course, if I'm the player, any player typically doesn't like the franchise tag. You want that long term security, like you said, Brian, you want some some gart money to go along with

that guaranteed stuff. But I like that, you know, if he does, like you said, make him play for it, I love that. Yeah. Because of the fact then you have all your answers to the questions of people saying, well, he's had two back surgeries, he's had a suspension that really took him out most of the season. Now those answers are like, well that was in the past, because now back to back season, he's proven to you he is a sack leader, he's a dominant pass rusher in

this league. He deserves a long term deal. I think that also shows that his willingness to cooperate with the organization is a benefit. Yeah, I mean you don't see that too frequently. I mean you look at what's going on right now with the Steelers and layby on bail and that they would say undoubtedly that what he didn't last season kind of affected his regular season. Sure, so

I'm with it. Yeah, I don't think there's any doubt that that Lawrence, if he goes with the same goes about the same way that he went through it last year getting ready for the season. You know, the offseason program, whatever he did to change his workouts, eating habits, whatever he did. He needs to go back to that program and and and do as well. I don't have a doubt that, you know that he'll be ready to go again.

I I it kind of these these contracts are just making me think though about you know what contract is the next one that all the fans are gonna be mad about? You know that. I mean, you want to make these guys earn the contract you want to make them.

You know, everybody's been getting on Jerry Jones and Stephen Jones for giving contracts out and then all of a sudden, now we're having talks about, well, you know, Dez Bryant can't play and Crawford can't play, and you know, I mean now every you know, it seems like that initially you get these contracts, these players earned these contracts. But then as as a fan base, you know, everybody gets

really bent about, you know, the production. So may make the guy, make the guy play for it, and you know, if it's something that that he should proves he gets you know, ten, twelve, fourteen sacks, then then then pay the man. That's that's the way it should be. The only thing that's stopping him from being a perennial Pro Bowl guy has been his health, you know, And so that's something to consider when you're looking at how much am I going to pay this guy down the road.

He is only I think twenty five going on twenty six, so he's not an older player, but it is you know, putting this the franchise tag on him, that is a huge number now in your cap. And we found out the cap total is going to be about one seventy seven, right, you know, they've they started off with some space and they have him twelve thousand dollars left. Yeah, there was

a half after slotting him. So now you've got to figure out ways to create more space with free agency starting next week, and there's ways they can do it. One way is to get a deal with Zack Martin done pretty quickly, and we'll see if that happens before the new league gear. But you know, they can restructure and do all those things. You know, we'll see what happens with Dez. But again, I just wouldn't count on

them being big spenders on the open market. Great segue, Rob, because yes, you brought up Zach Martin and Dez Bryan and there were a lot of aws and questions that were finally put to rest when Jerry spoke last week at the combine. Probably first off, starting with the Zach Martin. I feel like Steven really answered that last Tuesday, kind of saying, yeah, that's we're gonna have talks with Tom Condon this week. You know, so what do you what do you take from all of that? I think they've

they've laid a foundation to get a deal done. I don't know what the timing is going to be on that. I would expect it to get done at some point in the offseason. I'd be surprised if it wasn't. Now. Could you get it done before March fourteenth and create some space for yourselves by spreading out you know that cap hit. I don't know. I'm sure they would love to do that, because, like we just said, d Laws got a big number there that's affecting your space. I'm

not so worried about Martin. I wonder if you get a deal done with the Marcus Lawrence and I don't know at this point what you do with Dez Bryant. I left the Combine scratching my head over the Deaz situation. But I think all those talks with Martin last season set the groundwork to get something done with him. I think if I think at the Cowboys deal with Dez Bryant, and I've said this a bunch, I said it on shows.

I was on on one oh five three last week from the Combine, I think, if they deal with Dez Bryant in a respectful manner, if Jerry and does sit down and have a real discussion. I think Dez Bryant understands the situation. I think he really does. I think he's gonna I think Jerry's gonna let him say his two cents. Jerry's gonna say his two cents. But I think that they will come to a resolution that something needs to be done. But I think it has to

be done in a respectful manner. I don't feel like that you can you can hit Dez Bryant over the head with this and say, okay, you take this or leave this. I think does Bryant wants to be here. I think he wants to play. I think he understands. The Dallas Cowboys understand what Dez Bryant means this organization, not only on the field, but off the field. Think about think about the things when you when you look

at the jersey sales and things like that. Again, I'm not tying it into the only reason to keep him around. It's because his jersey sell as well. But he's one of the most recognizable players on this franchise, you know, and they understand that. And I and has he had a couple of a couple of rough goes at it. Yeah, he has, but you've also had to deal with a

rookie quarterback and then a second year quarterback. You know, I'm willing to say, though, if they do it the right way, I think everybody could be happy about the direction this thing is going to go. And here's the other aspect of it. And we've talked about it on the show, and we've got a Twitter poll later in the show about biggest needs in free agency. You let him go, and now you've added another primary need to your roster, either in free agency or the draft. Yea.

And we've talked about other positions they need to fill. You want to add that one to the list. Try to find a number one quality receiver with not a ton of money to spend, and typically receivers take a little while the rookie year to be productive in the NFL. I wouldn't I wouldn't let him go. Now I've kind of gone back and forth. I mean, Steven Jones is talked about that they got to make a business decision

with him. Jerry to me leaving the combine, I felt like, Okay, what Brian said, maybe it's more likely they figure something out where he comes back, because Jerry stated it as I sit right here. Yes, you know we want him back. Now at some point they are to have a discussion about his money. I think like they do want him back. I think you're right, Rob, I think you're right, Brandon. I think they know what he is. He uses that

as his leverage too. Hey, I'm does Brian eighty eight one of the big time faces for this entire franchise eighty eight, you know, and it's just the X everything. He knows that as well. But I think you need to come to the understanding he does that he will most likely have to take that pay cut. Oh no, it's not most likely. He is just yeah, if you watch half million dollars for twenty eighteen, that's a yes number. I mean, if you if, if you know if, and

I think he will, I think he will. Again, it's got to be done in a respectful manner. It's you know, yeah, And it almost like a way where it was like his idea, well yeah, and you got to walk him through. And you know, I think is smart enough to realize he's a veteran player. He knows how this league operates. And you know, I don't blame these players. I don't blame these players for the salaries they make. No, it's it's the it's the front offices that pay these salaries.

Like you can complain all you want about Dez, you can complain all you want about Tyron Crawford. It's not their fault. They got paid. Someone sat down and said this is what this guy's worth to me right now for this number of years. Everybody's like, oh, the guy didn't perform, the guy didn't do this, guy didn't do that. You know, the front office is the one that sets this up. So yeah, I mean these guys. Yeah, you'd

like for everybody to live up their contract. You'd like for it to be like the guy, you know, Klais Campbell and in Jacksonville where he makes you know X amount of millions of dollars and has fourteen fifteen sacks. Yeah, everybody wants that. In free agency. I'm sure the Giants, you know, everybody's saying, well, you know what about Olivier Vernon. You know, you think the Giants are real happy where the fans are real happy about Olivia Vernon's contract right away,

But no, the Giants gave him that contract. Somebody sat down and made a decision that hey, we could pay him this. So it's a little bit difficult now to walk in with hat in hand and say, hey, listen, would you give us some money back? Wait a minute, now you're the ones that paid me. Yeah, now you want to take money away from me? Is that your fault or my fault? What happened? Was Stephen Diggs or

Stefan Diggs? How did he get into the mix? Because obviously they went after the quantreadwell mid middle of the first round two years ago. Yeah, and he was supposed to be kind of this explosive wide receiver. I mean, I even know some people here at the Cowboys thought he might be a good fit here and he hasn't panned out exactly in that way. Stefan Diggs is there number one receiver? Right? How did that come to be for them? I don't know that personally. Well, I mean

I don't. I know it's different. Yeah, I don't know the Viking Sool situation. Let me say the example, the guy in Denver, you know, the yeah, de Marius Thomas. He and Dez signed their contracts right at the same time. It was gonna be okay, who is gonna get the deal? Done first at the market. Yeah, nobody wanted. Nobody wanted to either side on that agency either. When it's like, okay, Dees first, Thomas first, Hannah was back and forth, back

and forth, back and forth. And if you remember, once Dad signed, then all of a sudden, Thomas signed, like it was it was like the Broncos got the deal done later that day. The Broncos are probably not real happy with what's going on with Thomas's contract right now, so you know, and they've gone through quarterback changes. They've gone through They've gone through far worse quarterback changes than

what the Cowboys have had to deal with. So yeah, it's it's one of those things where again I keep saying, it's be respectful and I think things will get done in the right way so that all parties feel good about what they're doing. Yeah, there you go. Yeah, that's fair. I mean easy is that isn't easy? It's not easy. I think it's I think he could. Dez Bryant is a prideful guy, yes, but he also understands he feels grateful to the Cowboys for drafting him, especially Jerry Jones.

With not not playing football for a year, all these things basically that were in the in the balance, you know people that was There were so many things, and you know, he appreciates that. He appreciates Jerry Jones taking an opportunity to draft him a then an opportunity to pay him. You know, he no one, no one feels worse about his numbers or lack of numbers than him. Yes, and him, he wants it to work. He wants to

win a super Bowl here. He was pretty emphatic on the fan a couple of weeks A sure he was. He wanted to wear the star. He wants to be back. He did talk about how he's let outside noise kind of affect him. And we've seen some of that, some of the drops and all appreciate that. Yeah, and you know, and he's admitted he's played through some stuff. He says, you know, there was a talker he had the tendonitis this past season. He knows he hasn't been quite what

he wants to be. He said he's gonna work towards it um. But yeah, it's it's an interesting thing how they're going to figure this out. I ultimately don't think you can afford to not have him and then start over and who's our number one receiver for Dak who you're trying to make the offense is quote Dak friendly as I agree? Yeah, And you know, if nothing, that just shows the maturity of Dez Bryant. Yeah, I think that we've watched Dez Bryant grow in a in a

positive way. Here. People talk about the emotion and all that again and the sidelines, it's the passion and oh it's sometimes it detracts from you know, I wish everybody. I wish all forty six guys wanted to win as badly as Dez Bryant does, you know. And that's a good point because he is he has watched this offense evolve into an offense that's which runs the ball Ezekiel Elliott yea. And I haven't seen him complaining and haven't heard that. And his numbers have dropped in part because

of that too. Yeah, you have to look at that to some degree. How to set things up Rob and Taylor. He has said this, He says, I do not mind

my numbers going down as long as we're winning games. Yes, And it had to be totally frustrated in him last year when that run when they weren't running the ball effectively enough when they weren't winning football games, and they weren't finding right now, where there's some things on Dez Bryant, Yeah, where there's some route problems, yes, where there's some drops, yes there were There is there a improvement that needs to be made between he and Dak Absolutely, yeah, absolutely,

and now and you think in your third year, but this is a thing again. If it doesn't work this year, then't you move on? Yeah? And I think Dez Brian and I think that they I think he realizes, you know that if you take my salary and it doesn't work, I'm not going to be around next year. But I think in his mind he's like, Okay, that's fine, I'll go and I'll go work somewhere else. I don't think he wants to be anywhere else. I don't think he wants to go to Philadelphia or Green Bay or Tampa

Bay or any of those places. I think he wants to be here playing football again. It's the loyalty that he has, and but the Cowboys have to be and I think the Cowboys have been loyal to him giving him the contract, but they've got to work this out You're absolutely right. You just can't just cut him and then say, okay, let's start from ground zero again now with you know Dak and whoever else at Widerson, We've got left guard to address. We've payn DeMarcus. You're trying

to get something done with Martin. There's only so much you can do with the resources they have, and they do have ten picks, but there's only so much you can do. All right, So you guys left us last week to head up to Indy, which was actually decent weather. Not bought Jeff prapping for you guys, but rarely I'm glad you enjoyed it. I got to see

glimpses of you guys behind the ESPN set. We made friends, We had best friends. With the Raiders. Yeah, it seemed like that you guys really made Dave seem like he was a comedian some sort Brian, you know, just everywhere and all the above. Obviously, I feel like the biggest topic, at least from social view from the weekend was Chachem Griffin. Yeah.

I mean, not only could everyone talk about the fact that he had an amazing forty time that was really not expected for him, but just an absolute show out performance. Feel like he stole the show. Am I wrong? Yeah? I think that everybody. And if you're if you're late to the Schachem Griffin party, welcome aboard. Been riding in. Yeah, this is a young man that's you know, if every I believe everybody knows the story about the birth effect with his left hand. You know, he's played his entire

career without a left hand. And as you know see I'm looking over at our screen right now that you see he's using the device on his hand to to bench press and that was twenty times you know with Yeah, and so it's amazing. And the electricity in that area, that workout area when he was lifting, it was like it was like a game day, if you mean the fans were screaming. The way it's set up there, the fans were allowed to watch the weightlifting and our table

is right there on the other side. Yeah, and they and the fans were just totally getting into it and he was feeling it. And you know, twenty reps, you know, and that for a guy that's you know, two hundred and twenty seven pounds, I mean, he's pretty impressive. But this, you know, when you watch him, like I say that that part right there you're seeing right there running, he's a blur on tape. That that that that that part of it did not surprise me at all. The lateral agility,

the quickness, all that right there. I mean, that's that's what this kid is. That's the type of player he is. When you watch him play, he's not hard to find on the field because he's always around the football. He's always in the in the pilemaking to tackle. You just got to figure out, Tay, where you want to draft him and where do you want to play him. That that's gonna be the trick for the teams. Is he

a guy that will be a starter initially? Probably not, but he's more likely a will linebacker, probably going to be a guy that you of course he'll be on all your special teams. He'll be a guy that I think you want rushing the passer. I really don't know if you want him always stuff. You see him right there with the drops and things like that. This is his game right there, his ability to attack the pocket. That's the kind of guy he is. So uh, you know, you just have to be you have to have a

plan for him. And I know there's a lot of people pulling for him for sure. Oh absolutely, I think Jason Witten is one of them. Saw him won the award right two weeks ago here in Frisco when he actually won Jason Witten's first ever collegiate Man of the Year award deservedly, so, I mean, just to hear him talk about it, for him to be around here, it felt like he was extremely excited about all things draft,

especially Cowboys. Oh absolutely, probably a cool experience for him and in the other two finals as well, But just I mean, Jason talked about it, just the inspiration he is to get where he is at this just to play college football with what he's had to overcome, and the fact that, like Brian said, how productive he's been as as a guy who can rush the pastor as

a guy who can make tackles. Yeah, and you know, like he said, I don't know if he starts for you day one, but how much of special teams is just will and determination and get after it down the field. And that's what he's he's he's a sub package player. I mean, that's what he can do. You could put him on the field and allow him you know, it's put him in some special things where he's can blitz you know. Again, I anything he's doing where he's going at the football, I'm all for with it. I'm all

with it. Now. The problem if you're a Cowboy fan or the Cowboy team, you've got a linebacker that and I think he's a will linebacker. I don't think that he is a MIC linebacker. Now. Yeah, now, if you if you, if you ask me of guys that could play as a Mike, Roquan Smith can play as a mike linebacker from Georgia right on him. Yeah, he's a first round guy. He's not the biggest linebacker either. No, but but but you watch him play and you watch his lateral agility, you watch the way he plays with

his hands. He doesn't. He rarely gets blocked. You know, He's always a step ahead of where this is at it Roquan. Yeah, this this is a guy that, like you say that number three is in a lot of piles. You'll see him when they see the ball goes outside boat right there. That's the kind of guy. He is, always got a nose for the ball. But he's a

little bit stouter guy, you know. And when you when you start talking about a little bit stouter guy, I mean he's two hundred and thirty six pounds, could probably bulk him up to about two hundred and forty pounds, kind of hitchen side. Yeah, he is just all over the place and I love what I mean, just physical player. And I was laughing with the Raider guys because everybody's mocking him to the Raiders at ten and I was like,

come on, guys, man, yeah, cut us, cut us some slack. Here, cut us a little slack and this guy, Yeah, let us take somebody else. Well, we'll take this guy off your hands. Yeah. You don't think he's getting a nineteen, do you? No, I don't don't. But he's not for everybody because again, the lack of hythe But when you watch the tape, that's what I'm saying. Yeah, when you watch the tape, I mean, this guy just he never comes off the field and he just will make every

single tackle right there, filling the gaps. That's just what he does. But the thing again with with uh, you know, with Griffin, need to play him on off the ball outside, let him kind of play a little bit more in space and you have on the take on. Okay, so how turn us into the Draft show, which is next. I know I was gonna say, that's a good highlights So Smith though, great job in the real quick Yeah, how much did he help himself at the comment like

did he help Smith around? No? Griffin? Oh Griffin? Yeah? Oh yes. The thing that light years I don't know if light because I think people saw what he was as a player. There's the public perception. Oh, America just found out who he is. Yeah, if you watch you Seef tape, you know the hell you trust me. I mean again, here's a guy we're seeing. I love the fact that we can do this now. By the way, I don't know if I'm supposed to be. Yeah, everybody in TV, thank you so much for putting us all together.

But yeah, this is what this is, what this guy is. I mean, he is a he's a run hit kind of a so for scouts, it just kind of solidified what they've seen on tape. Oh yeah, but he's probably a mid round guy. I ask you this, four three eight, you know on the forty that was that was I think was one of those he said, Okay, maybe four four five, four four eight, but four three eight that's a little bit different, a little bit different animal there right there. But man, I tell you what a heck

of a football player. And you have to have a plan. You have to have a plan for how you want to play him and what you want to do with him. I love him too, all right, Well I also love don't want to play against him. And well McClay got a two year contracted extension, which is nice. I know that doesn't guarantee that, you know, every off season we

won't be talking about him and some GM talk. Yeah, but I think that shows that they're willing to continue to invest in him, that the decisions he makes as far as fame here will pay off for him. I think where will is such a benefit to this organization is the fact that and I talk about the triangle. He understands the triangle. The Joneses are at the top of the triangle. The coaches are at one corner, and

the scouts are the other. Will has generally got two groups mad at him, and he's always trying to figure out ways. But he's a he's a great administrator. He's been a former coach, he's a scout. He understands how to work with the Joneses. They trust him. That's what you need right there. Somebody sitting in that chair smart. Yeah, you need somebody sitting in that chair that understand how to kind of get all the groups together and be how to put the boards together, and how to work

with free chiefs. Now, he'll admit it, he'll admit it. You know, they need to do a little better if they're gonna bottom fish in these free agency things. You know, if they're gonna bottom fish for some guys and they're not going to spend a lot of money, they didn't do a bit better job at hitting on those guys. That's something the Eagles were able to do last year. They hit on some guys like all Sean Jeffrey. You know,

they got some guys. They made some trades. Yea. Those are things that Will is going to have to do to kind of get get this roster back the way. It's a good roster and it's gotten better because of him being in that. A lot of it's drafting and what he's done. And Brian said it, like I met him when he was the defensive coordinator for the Desperado the Arena League and just watching him in that role transition in this role, he is, like he said to

he's such a great communicator. He gets everybody on page same page in the war room with that whole draft process. But he's also a really good talent evaluator and the Cowboys recognize that. And it helps his case too when you got the text being interested in him in every offseason he's turning down jobs because he loves it here. But you know what, the right job will come along for him. hundred percent CLOrk and beef. Better ingredients, better pizza. Papa John's in a pizza party with the Raiders. Yeah we did, you know, just rub it in your better friends them. We get it now. I think we love them more than us. Pictures together their social guy Tay. Do you know their social guys? I heard his name was Matt. I heard super cool. And you want to trade, say we missed you. This is a funny thing, you know.

This is an inside joke. We'll explain, but we always joke about, you know, we talk about these guys almost like chess. Pieces is extremely unfair, but in the sense like if you were to wake up tomorrow and someone says, all right, you've been traded to San Francisco. You start later today, Yeah bye, Like we joke about if that happened with like myself, Like I got traded with the Oakland Raiders social person I have to start at the end of the week. Bye guys, Matt Walks. Matt Walks,

great guy, follows work. Come on the dam gets social guy for a long time. That's been fantastic. You think that you would get traded for like a couple? Would you get traded for like a The value I bring would be like a social social guy and then a Kent or which oh god, no, no one can do Ken's stop. I would get traded with like the social person and they're like mel but you would like you. You would like all black. You could be like you can wear all black all the time and be like

because it's two very swaggy organizations. I didn't see coach Pisaccio this weekend, but good Yeah he was enjoying it, I guess. Yeah, good times, good times all around. Yeah, he came back from the combine. All right, Well we hinted at it earlier. Rob your Twitter poll. Yes, the results. It is about that free agency based pole. We took care of DeMarcus Lawrence signs or none none or none? What how many guys were going to sign none or none?

They got? He lost signed signs stag. Okay, this is this is both free agent slash position most important to address this offseason now that you've got d Law taken care of at least for one year. Yeah, Jonathan Cooper slash left guard, Anthony Hitchens slash linebacker, David Irving slash defensive end, defensive tackle or LP, you're long snapper. What's what's the most not maybe not just the player itself

because we know how LP won. That was a good Yeah, we know how valuable Hitchens is, but the spot itself too. Who where do they need to really address in the offseason the most? Okay, we including the are we including the draft? Is the way to do this? Or it has to be with free agents? Well we're talking free agency. Focus on free agency, Like, I don't know if they're going to go draft along snapper, No, right, but probably not. They didn't draft LP. Yeah, they found him on a

Randy See. This is where this is workout day. This is tough because I think you can address take out the snapper part, but you could dress the other ones through the draft, which yeah, I think the linebacker when you can address to the draft, I believe you can address the defensive tackle one. That's something I really really have liked about this draft, even though we've lost maybe lost Maurice Hurst, who was a guy that kind of was penciled in here first round talent from Michigan who's

got a heart condition. Yeah, there's still way to see quote to Cleveland Clinic for that significant that is. But yeah, I think that you think you can us the linebacker free agency though. I mean they've struggled with free agent linebackers, haven't they. Um so they try to trying to go back and say they signed Brook So yeah, yeah, I mean how I mean that how how how many? How

many times? H how many times have you know they've gone in this route of free agency, you know, like well bottom fish for a guy, yeah, and then it not really worked out. I think of the guy Brinkley, Jasper Brinkley. Gosh, yes, remember that Giant. Then he went out, Yeah it was with the Giants. Thought well yeah Vikings Vikings here Giants. Yeah, we had to pay him like a million dollars for the I mean we could just look at last year. Yeah, it's there's a lot there's

teams with a lot of money. Yeah, there's the teams with a lot of money there too, and that I'm just looking right now just I'm just gonna give you an example. The Browns have one hundred and eight million dollars in cap space. Jets are next at eighty nine million, Colts at seventy two. This is all millions, by the way, Buck years sixty nine, forty nine or sixty six, Bears at sixty two, Texans at sixty two, Redskins at forty seven.

Think about that. I mean, there's a lot of teams that have money, and there's a lot of teams that are their rosters are a little bit talent poor, you know, the Brown's roster, Jets roster. I guess my point is maybe some guys that you kind of identified as maybe some bottom fishing guys are probably gonna get paid. So it's gonna take you out of that market. You know what I'm saying. Dollary cap rose, I think, yeah, ten million this year exactly. So that's that's the thing I

worry about. There's a lot of teams that have I'm let me count, there's one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten teams that have over forty million dollars in cap space. Well, David Irving wins the poll tay forty eight percent. He's restricted free agents, so you gotta think if you know, they can bring him back pretty easily if they want to, which I would imagine they would put the first their second round tender on him, probably the second. Yeah, Okay, Hitchens,

we don't know what his market value might be. They'd like to bring him back. Jonathan Cooper left guard one way or another. You gotta find a fifth starter. Steven Jones talked about that in Indianapolis last week. And you know, you gotta think they'd like to get something done with LP two. Yeah, they're all important. Ranked ranked? Did you rank? Did the fans ranked them? There? They thought Irving first? They didn't think Hitchens was first? Then right now, then Hitchens,

then Cooper, then LP. See. The one guy that I think that they might not give it long term contract too is David Irving. Yeah, which you know, I mean, I know everybody out there is up in arms like, oh my god, David Irving. You gotta he if they if they put the second round tender on him. I just again don't see them doing a long term deal. Now, maybe I'm making them wrong. Out the play it out

and see what happens. Yeah, I just don't I mean, if they really cared a lot about David Irving, I think they would put a first round tender on him. I just think fans see the potential when he's been on the field. He had sure rush in late in the year. He had the eight games last year, right mentioned, Yeah, he would have been probably he could have caught Lawrence and Sacks. Maybe, yeah, played a whole year. No, he that's on his own doing, though, see yea his own doing.

If the suspension costs him a month and he said, he's like, I'm I'm I'm ticked off at myself. But see that's the thing too about him though. And I think Rod Marinell if you ask coach about him that he would say, I need him to be more consistent. I think you know the consistency thing, you know, I just I respect the player and what and how you watch him play, because he is he's a very disruptive guy.

But you know, again, if you're only going to play half the season and you know something's gonna happen, that's that's a kind of a kind of a tough thing. If he could play all sixteen games, he can make himself a lot of money. There's no question about that. But you look at all those positions that we just mentioned and say, if not free agency, you could deep enough in the draft, like guard and yeah, yeah, no, the guard. The guard, you're gonna have to do. The

guard win early, and you're probably gonna have to. You could probably hit the lineback on day two, but I think guard would be have to probably go day one. Maybe, you know, I don't know. If I don't know if the best guard is going to be there at fifty, I can't guarantee that, but I can guarantee a lot of other things. I mean, I think that that there's there's plenty of there's plenty of player. I mean, I think this this draft really is good on the second day,

I really do. I think that whether it's a wide receiver or a linebacker or you know, I think that you can probably grab one of those guys, you know for that's about safeties another one you could probably grab a guy too. So hopefully they'll take advantage of the compensatory picks. I know that Jerry Jones talked about how he's going to use those or could use those, told me those are a godsend because it gives you some

flexile it gives you some flexibility. Yeah, you just get done what you need to get done with if you just sit there. You used to not be able to trade those, now you can't. That's that's important. That's awesome. Well, guys, I'm so sorry we have to end today's show short, but you should be happy because in just two minutes they will have the Your Graph show going, which is always awesome. We're so happy that you guys could join us, and join us again next Tuesday for a full Talking
