Before listening, ask good doctor, if your heart is healthy enough for Dallas Cowboys football. He's hanging with the Boys, broadcasting live from Dallas Cowboys World headquarters at the Star in Frisco. Now your host, Nate Newton, Kurt Daniels, and Shannon Gross. In the words of Jason Garrett, what's up? What's up? What's up? How you guys doing? I am great, you know what. I am coming in this show with a lot of energy. I'm ready to go. That's some

barbecue in you. I ate almost the full rack of ribs. And if I don't fake the energy, I will probably put my head down right here and be out the rest of the show. So let's go. All right, let's go. What's up? Kurt? You look very you dressed like your personality today. Yes, yes, now that ain't bland. That's a nice shirt. Man. That's yellow. It's a great shirt. It's just yeah, I washed out. That's nice light yellow. Pretty nice to see you too, Yeah, creamy like yellow man.

How you doing? Nate? Hey man? Hey, got your long horn shirt on? Torns? Short horns? You call him? Now? Yeah, short horn. I'm gonna go to that bowl game? What bowl game? The Longhorns. Ain't a bowl game? What they're playing in Houston? Are they? Yeah? I don't worry about that. Wow, Douglas, you're supposed to be a hard and true supporter of your long horns. Short Douglas is a short horn. I'm a supporter. He's a short tanning sports and he's does

not have that right now? On the Football Felt Bowl, are they? What's the name of that bowl? It's in Houston, Texas Bow? Is it in Rely They're playing Missouri. No, it's like the Academy Sports. Oh, Man, Mick gonna love that. Mick whoop, y'all, it's gonna be some happy dude walk around here. Y'all need to y'all need to play a friendly lunch wager or something on that. Go to the count Crete Cowboy. I'm not gonna bet on Texas. What Why would I bet for Texas when they played like

they have all year? Oh? Take the point you are, I'm I'm not uh. I bet you don't think the Cowboys gonna make the playoffs either, du I have. I'm hopeful on that front, but but yeah, I'm not. I'm not an apologist for Texas if they're not any good I'll tell you, okay, how the Cowboys they any good? I think they're good, and I think if they can win this weekend and Zake gets back Homer, then let's see what happens. Homer. I'm just saying, Okay, Nate, what

you looking at over there? You know, I'm just saying, I'm just excited, man, thank you for that. You brought me in the ribs and stuff like that. So I appreciate that right there. You always look out for me, man, you know. So I just want to make sure I'm not the only fat kid on this show whenever I calling me fat, No, no, no, pha t not fat. But see the thing about at least you think about me? Yeah, yeah,

we all think. Is that a shot? Like I'm just saying, man, my man, Sir Doug has let me sit in his office before the show to the point where we late and talking and discussing it. That's why we're late today. Come bearing gifts. I guess. I always say nice things about Kurt and go after him. Yeah, and then after I'm not on the show one time and I'm referred to as the other guy, I go I lose all ideas winning back the other Wow. Man, Well, let's let's

get into Cowboys offense versus Oakland Raiders defense. What we're looking at this week? Nate, you know, uh, you know Ken Norton, my teammate back in the Super Bowl years, was released recently, let go for another guy. And what the new guy did with the with the Raiders defense, he simplified it. He took Bruce irv and he's normally an outside linebacker, and he was doing a lot of coverage work and he's put him down at a defense, even especially in past rush situations. Uh, and most of

the majority of the time. And uh, he's he's what and you can look this up for me too, Parting if you don't mind. In the last year, he forgot your name too. Now no, no, Na, no, no, his name is Kurt and and he his game is really picked up. He's got five sacks in the last three games. Yes, oh yeah. And along with Khalil Mack. Uh, you you put these guys, who's line who's gonna line up against who?

Khalil Mack played the right side, which is our right tackle, Lyle Collins and Bruce Vans to come off the other side. I don't know if they change you know, I just watched one game and I was a Kansas City game, and uh, but the Redskins game, we should have beat them because they were depleted and we had better guys than them. The Giants game, they were in disarray. They were trying to reorganize, put themselves into at least get themselves organized and stopped going in one direction as a team.

And even though they had a nice defense, I think we done. We did. We did what was supposed to do, was we beat them. This now this is the third game and this defense from Mario Edwards to Reggie Nelson, the Navarra bullman. These guys can They are athletes that can play. They they were in their division. They were picked to win it, and I mean win it by a landslide. They were supposed to mop Kansas City. Uh and in San Diego charges up. But now they're almost

in the three way tie. Uh seven and six for the charge of seventy six for Ksey who beat them last week. They looked at like a shell of themselves. The two guys that were playing are the three guys that were playing hard Navarral Bowman, UH, Bruce Irvin and Khalil Mack they were getting it. They were trying to be difference makers. And uh, they didn't play well at all defensively. Offensive they couldn't get nothing going. And we're

talking about that tomorrow. But they defensively they was playing well up until like maybe Miller the third he just fell out the bottom just kind of it was like nineteen zip and all of a sudden he just fell out from under them. Uh. This is this team uh at Memory Atlanta, and I say, are we bait? Uh don't want them to put it together. We don't want them. This team here is ready to let it go. Uh. Sunday night Premier game, last last home game, coach all

over them. How they didn't play as hard as they should have played? Was it a competitive the whole game the way they should be? And Jack dear Riel is the head coach or he'll be pushing them, nudging them, trying to get him to go. This team here has the ability to test us. You know my you know Chris gross Well I work with on another deal and I was acting, Sir Douglas, you know, how good do

you really think the team is? I mean cowboys are Raiders Cowboys because this is a team that I know here in the Raiders man for man, athlete for athlete, whether whether it's by their experience or just by they're having a better person at a better personnel at that position they got. They got a hell of a team. Yeah. Are they better talent wise than we are? Brother? If you ain't got what I've been saying for the last

thirty I just want you to say it. Yeah. Yeah, they they they have some stuff up over here, man. And and what gets me is if they wake up, are we good enough to battle through? Are we good enough to battle through? How good do you really think the Cowboys are? Are they that team that we saw that couldn't score twenty points for three games or ten points for three games? Are are they that a little bit better? Playing with a lot of momentum confidence up

because they got some players over there? That's I think this is why this game is so big or so intriguing. Is that so far the Cowboys are pretty much lost to teams that are the good teams. Yeah, and they've beaten the teams that are bad. They've beaten who they should, you know, that's right, the poor ones. The Raiders are a team, they're pretty well matched up and like you said, maybe even have better talent. So I think we're gonna find out. That's why I kind of believe that if

they win this game, they're gonna win out. If they lose this game, yeah they're done for sure, but they not may not win again. Let's go over to say, pulled the Raiders record up, and after you pulled theirs up, pulled ours up, and that because I got I want to know who they have lost, Sue, and then same with us. They started the season by beating the Titans and the Jets, and they lost the Redskins there, lost to the Broncos, lost to the Ravens, lost to the Chargers,

and they beat the Chiefs somehow at home. They lost at the Bills, beat the Dolphins, lost to the Patriots, beat the Bronchos, beat the Giants, lost to the Chiefs. They've had a few in there that you kind of second guess now, but you know, kind of the same thing. I mean, they at least the last few games. Yeah,

go through hours, please ours we start. We beat the Giants, which we should have lost the Denver that's that's yeah, beat the Cardinals, which you should lost to the Rams, lost to the Packers with Rogers beat the forty nine ers, the Redskins Chiefs is one that maybe we matched up pretty even. They were five and three, five and two at the time, then got blown out by the Falcons, Eagles,

and Chargers, who are all better teams. Yeah, and then you beat the Redskins and the Giants who you should beat. See where do you you know? And and just remember that this ain't no Zeke team. And this is a this is a question I posed to a lot of people. This is not Zeke is not playing for us right now. So it's just a good team. Can this team match up? And I think they can't if they go out and rely. Okay,

we have to execute. If we execute, then we could put the Raiders backs against the wall, and it's proving once they back get against the wall, they have no pushback. You think this team has learned how to play without Zeke, learned how to win. It seemed like those first two they just they didn't want to run the ball, like they were scared. Yeah, they've stuck with it the last couple of games, obviously against worser, lesser competition. You think

they've learned how to play now without zey. They're comfortable with it now that you know. They believe that if they execute and do the right things. Uh, you know, because we have five minutes leving the game, they find it. Okay. Yeah, they finally beat the Giants with five minutes left in the game. They finally beat the Giants. Well it's ten ten, three and a half quarters. Yeah, but where did you

where do you have the Cowboys? See we we as Cowboys fans look at somebody's else flight and think just cost Oh man, this guy got ran over, so well you should be small enough not to walk out there in the street not get ran over. That ain't your problem. That's that guy's problem that he got ran over. But oh yes, since he got ran over, we should be able to do this. Nah. The Giants still had a nice front seven defensively, so they were gonna slow down

our offense. They weren't gonna do nothing magnificent, but it was gonna show down our offense. Now, you heard me say, if my man d Law want to show who he really is, now, I was the team just take over a game, you know now, And I still love d Law. And he didn't. He didn't take over the game. But he was still effective. He didn't take over the game. But when you when to me, the Cowboys are a

good team, They're not a great team. This is a good team and without Zeke and without a few other factors, they have learned how to win as a team and sometimes not having the greatest athlete, So the greatest Dish. If you're buying together a team, you can beat a lot of teams. Now the question is cannot binding together getting them against the Dish or the Raiders team that's got a bunch of athletes that's got a bunch of playmakers.

See and because what a difference a year make. You know, for the first six weeks out of the season, MVP defensive, MVP Cleo Mac, That's all you heard was how now you aren't here? None of that. Last year's you know, NIC's last year. It ain't raining no more. Last ship, you know what I'm saying. So what do they look like in the what they're looking like in the secondary?

Who's matching up against the receiver tight end? Their corners? Man, I didn't I didn't pay a lot of attention to them, you know, you know, David Emerson, t J, I don't know if these guys made it through the game. Uh, but I Reggie Nelson, I watched him a little bit called Joseph got an interception for them. Uh that those are the two safetists. They're nice. Uh, they can stop the run. They have the ability to stop the run. Whether they're good at it or not just depends on seeing,

like how they feel that day. Yeah, Kurt, pull up there the Raiders defense, um offensive rushing and passing where they ran get a second, you know they're gonna be middle of the pack. Yeah, middle of the road. You know. Teams that is This is what makes me laugh. It's like teams that have great players that don't do well.

They're the scariest teams in the world to play that because if because they can wake up out the bed collectively and say we won't play to day and brought his own you'd be like, this ain't what we saw on film. The last four games, everything just jails one day. Yeah, yeah, this ain't what we saw on film. He was dropping balls, you know, Amari Cooper. God, he caught everything thrown to him. Today he got two hundred and ten yards three touchdowns.

We ain't seen this And wait, where have you been for the last seven games, right, you know where they at, Kurt. Let's see rush ship passing their twenty fifth in the league. They're giving up two hundred forty one yards a game rushing. They are tied for fifteenth, giving up one hundred and ten yards game. Middle of the pack. And the reason named middle of the pack and not in the lower half of the pack versus rushing because they got great athletes and points they were giving up. Let's see twenty

three point four points a game, which is twentieth. Yeah, right, you know, yeah a lot of times. You know, if he's man, you need to look at the stats. I can see. I can see how good they are athletically to know that they're gonna be mid I mean they ruck at seventy six packs. Yeah, but they but they but their ability says more than that. Yeah, you know, I just saw Mario Ette was leave out of the game. Do we have a injury report? I don't have, so I can kind of tell you who was out today

for the Cowboys. Yeah. So, but Mariotte was left the game against Kansas City. I don't know if he ever returned. Yeah, you know it just what what happened what what What are some things that can cause like defensively, especially front seven, like you said, they got this really, I tell you quick, Maury Cooper, I ain't catching the ball like he was last year. Um the running game, Uh showed their running

game even though I love best mold. The running game is sitting in Minnesota now because they let him go ye to Minnesota. So they running game is sitting in Minnesota. Yeah. The offensive line is not played up to par. The offensive line. I don't know if it's meant because the injuries and now their quarterback ain't played as well. Last year had six touchdow six interceptions. This year he got ten eighteen touchdowns and ten interceptions. So wow. Yeah he's

been hurt too. Yeah, he's been hurt on and off. What's the yes? Okay, you want to ask for Dallas? Dallas either you know, I was our offense and rushing. We're third in the league on hundred and thirty seven point five points or yards a game, passing twenty fifth two hundred and one yards of game. We were tenth in scoring twenty four point three. That surprises me that

they're still third in the league. Well, I get you know, they've been averaging one hundred and ten yards per game and Zeke's absence, so it's not like that's been a huge drop off. What's the game plan? Offensive game plan for the Cowboys? Same thing, run the ball? What the thing about it is? Like I said, I run for different reasons than most people, don't you know? Because last week we ran the ball, but they had the ball thirty two minutes. See time of possession on mean nothing

to me without scores seven seven three here seven. You know, the Giants did what they needed to do. They played, they played favorable, funny defense, but we had two or three big as on them, so that nullified that. What we gotta do is whenever we're in the reds on the close, we gotta come up with seven. Yeah, you know you're going up and you're going up in and raid the nation, don't. Yeah, they're gonna be loud, they're

gonna be they're gonna be pumped. Like I said, I think the head coach Jack there real gonna be nudging them, like, hey, fellas, guy, we had a division game. We could have took the lead into the division and here we are now we third behind there behind the charges, and you know, and they not out of it. They have virtually they can see that. They can see the light way better than we can't. Right and have a worse record. Yeah, they're in a better spot than Yeah, so because their division

ain't cranking, ain't crank it up. So and last last home game of the season for him, night game, it's gonna be crazy in that stadium. Yeah, crazy, They're gonna be cheering for him. How does it change any if at all? Last week Cowboys played the Giants who had a real strong front four, pretty weak linebacking crew. This week, I guess they do have Mac on the on the front, but maybe the line isn't quite as strong. But your linebackers are so are a lot better. How does that

change how you're gonna block and such? You it's still you got to secure the down lineman, but you got to make sure you get something on them backers because they fast, they can run. They got Like I said, they say, this is a confidence hit you, you know. So it's not a whole lot different from what you normally gotta do. You just gotta get to that second level. Yeah, you gotta get your second level more this week than last week because these linebackers last week just couldn't play

with play with these guys. But these linebackers here can and they got enough enough on their defensive line to be competitive. Like I said, I don't know where Mariott was at in the deal, you know, Eddie Vanderdoles or does or whatever dudes or whatever his name. I'm just they went out and helped them. Say, they got Jered Cook as a tight end. They they they improved their team. I don't know if the running game improved that much,

but they didn't lose theming with Beast Molde. So this team was poised to do something in the in the AFC, they was poised to do something, not just talk about it. They they got the outhletes to say that we were paised if we would have been mentally tough and gutted it out. They they got a spat man. Yeah, what happens when you're that talented physically? What are some things that can cause you not to perform on the field? You know, schemes? Is it coaching? Is it just doesn't click? What? Like?

What is it? The same thing that got uh the Cargnals for the last three years, we have arrived mentality. When you have arrived, you always find them losing games. He's supposed to lose. Then all of a sudden, you're arrogance turn in to our complacency. All of a sudden, you know, I lost six games. We got the talent because I don't think I don't. I think Jack Darrel probably telling them tired of telling them that, you know

you got the talent. So sometimes you you you think you're talented enough to get by without putting in the work. Is yea? It is, brother, yea room and things like that. It is. And you know Navarral Bowman, he's a he's a first class professional. He's gonna play hard regardless of the situation down distance where you're adding the game. He's just a professional. But I'm telling him, Bruce Irvan and Khalil Matt they can change the game. Bro. They they

got enough juice, they can change the game. It's Bruce Irvan. Has he been there his whole career? Yeah? I think that Max's been there. He's Mac then the whole while. Yeah, he's been with him, what four years? Five? Yeah, something like that. Let me look stats, guy, you got all those papers over there. You don't even use them. No, Hill Mac four years with Buffalo. Who's the other guy, Irvin Ivan? No, I think this is a second with Buffalo. Yeah, this is a second with who'd you say, who was

with Buffalo? You said, Khalil Mack? Four years with Buffalo. Well, I'm in four years with the Raid. Who we're playing this? God man? Get it together? He sent it? Irvan together. Irvan spent four years. I mean, you're calling him Jack and Zach and Deak and Duke and yesterday? Can even get that together? Now we're playing the Bills this week? What the hell's going on? And then looks you start drinking whatever you're drink. You need to hear what did

you eat yesterday? I don't know. I don't know. Irvan four years with Seattle, now too with Oakland. Okay, yeah, they're letting him rush that ball man. Yeah. And then when he was with Seattle he was a thumb. Yeah, he was a thumper. And uh, if you're high for sacks is eight. He's got seven seven and a half before this year, I mean about eight or nine because he got a sack in the game too. Yeah, you

know he hasn't been on the tail. I mean I think the last three games, he got to sack the last four games mac Ass and the Raiders overall have twelve sacks in the last three Wow, I'm telling you now, they them two guys total. They haven't they haven't let up those two guys. And uh, especially since they just the Devon's according to go get it. Yeah, go get

the quarterback, you know. And so if these guys thought, if these if the other nine guys decided to join the viral Bowman and Khalilo and Urban, it could be a nice game. See. I don't mind competition. I don't mind a hard, grind out fights in the end game.

It don't bother me grinding time. I just want at the end, if it's about one point, you want to win, right, you know, like coach Matten always say, I rather correct your mistakes out the victory than a loss, right because yeah, yeah, so you know, because in baseball you can lose ten straight games and over one hundred and sixty two that one effected unless it's the last ten games of the year that you need to get into playoffs. Right, but you lose five or six in the football world, it's

about done. You're bout done. You're bout done. Man. Yep, let's take our first break, go pay some bills and we would come back. We'll see what Kurt's reading. Yeah, because see if he's all here, he's got me. Nervous man, Yeah, nervous. You guys enough pro see today is probably not okay? You grab one you can't at home? Well, I'll go, I'll go. Yeah, David Irving did not practice again. He's still battling a concussion, which it's now been over a weeks. That's troublesome. James Hannah did not work out. I'm not sure why then, Scandrick stool and I don't blame Hannah. Man made that

great cash last week. Take a break, baby, A guy can catch that's You always keep thinking they're gonna give him the ball more, but I guess it ain't gonna happen. He was. He had one of the best. I think it was Cone Drill times. Who is that Hannah? Stop? Stop stop? Every time I hear about these great superhero workouts from from Cone Drill and all that scene, they didn't have a pan out on the football field. Stop Jinks. Okay, okay, I'll stop. He was fine. They got the greatest long

jumping world a broad jumper Iron Jones. Yeah, can't we get the innceptions up high? And come on, man, he was an all state receiver. See that, James, he's from Flower Mount. I did not know that to take him out to the school, Dude, hang out, that would be cool. Yeah, get the bikes and ride over there. Good they didn't ride bikes. Just dude here, ride a bike and get get a sword tooth. Having my tooth on my teeth started falling. You know you old when you started losing teeth. Well,

but but man, what question back to it? All right? That guy is he he's got to get a little more consistent. I'm talking about David Or he's got to get a little more consistent. And I tease him about, you know, hey, his third game, you need to show up. But we need his presence on that field. We need his presence. We need this length, We need this fast rushing capability, you know. Uh so you know, not so much. I think for the run as as even though he can make a few plays in that too. We need

you back, David Irvy. We do. If he doesn't go who Who's who's feeling? Uh what it's number sixty six. I always call him Nelson and Neil Lewis nil then another guy, Ash Richard, as a couple of When you're talking about body types, those are when you talk about David Irvy. One guy on the size and the other guy oversized, and they still don't reach up to David Irving on each other's shoulders. They probably Yeah. So when you playing a team like the Raiders, who who's kind

of sleepwalking? You know you need all hands on deck because you know, I'm telling you think Jason Garrett don't coach from a scared point of view. You know what I mean by that is, he don't if we don't do this and just what we gotta do. And you know he don't coaching that point. He coaching like, Okay, we need to do this. I understand what you see on film, but these guys are better. You know. He coaching from a matter of fact. This is what it is. Don't let it become this do it can escalate into

something else, you know what I'm saying. So I don't know if they're sleepwalking, though, I don't know, because the Chargers and the Chiefs play each other this week. They're both at seven and six or when and the Raiders are right in it. You know, there'll be seven and seven with one of us. But see that game last week, Kurt, and what was the score twenty thirty or whatever? It was twenty six fifteen, But it was a yeah, it was a blowout. Nothing. Yeah, it was a blowout, Kurt.

It was sleeping. It was sleeping. And that's what it's scared of me. Yeah, that's what scared of me is when you got pride and how you hand to your business and you see that you didn't you know, you put in that extra hour, whether it needs to be, to make sure that you leash. Don't be that guy that's getting pointed out. And uh, you know, all their wins, it looks like, except the first two games of the season when they started out hot, have been seven points

or less. But you know and that and you know why, because that's how good they are. They get they're just good enough to beat you. You know, a lot if you go back and check the Patriots super Bowl wins, and a lot of they are a lot of the postseason wins seven to eight points, just just good enough to beat you. A couple of Super Bowls they won on just the field goals, just just good enough to beat you, you know. And and that's why I don't get over hyped. You know, when we were scoring thirty

points a game. Oh man, we're on thirty points a game. Oh, we can't be stopped, and all of a sudden, we can't score five. Yeah, you can be stopped. You can. Something can happen that gets you out of kilter, and it may take a couple of games to get you back back going. So I'm more into winning games. And like I said, I was fortunate to play with a lot of great guys, and at the end of the day, all of those great guys, whether it was ugly, win,

flow out when they were just happy we won. And I'll repeat it, Coach Madden said, it's easier for me to correct you when you won than when you've lost, because you did it with two different emotions. When you win, you're receptive, you're ready, you're listening anything, you know, until you get the big head and thank you supposed to

be there and it don't happen. But and when you when you know I lost, you like you would think people be like, man, whatever it takes to win, but you know you you're still in the I did my job, man with a did hill man and man if quarterback would have high pointed it a little bit better? Man, Why did zeke how to get suspended? Man? Please and do your job. Speaking of doing your job, Kurt, Yes, sir, as you're listening to Garrett's presser yesterday. No, it was good.

Oh wow, I was working on a story. What does Zach Martin? So you don't haven't written yet. I'm working on another story, thank you. What the story is that? Maybe? Dope? Yeah, it's the it's leading up. He can't get it out leading up to the Seahawks game. Ok, Cowboys versus Bills. First time the Cowboys played on Christmas Eve was fifty years ago. Yes, it's also their first playoff win. So it's a look back at that game. Yeah, so take that.

And so who did they play? They played the Cleveland Browns. Wow, Cleveland actually made it to the playoffs? Stop are they? It was fifty years ago. Paul Bad Bryan was the coach. I bought the tall bad No, he was not there anymore. He was moved up. Collier was the coach. Speaking of head coaches, what do you remember about Jack del Real? Jack? Jack? Jack knew his stuff. A good athlete, not great, but a good athlete. Uh. He knew what to do. He

got along with his teammates. Uh, you played with it, didn't Yeah, didn't hang with a lot of guys, just a few guys. The guys the guy he fired and Kittting North. He used to hang with him a little bit, you know, a friendship over the job. You gonna Uh, just just a good guy, but won't hesitate if he feels you ain't doing your job. Now, that's when you

think he learned from Jimmy. And that's what I was trying to I was telling Sir Douglas, you know, and I'm not gonna call the player that we were talking about. But Jimmy, Jimmy was was straight up. That's why I don't love I don't like people that that that mess around, especially when they livelihood. I don't you know, you you give me an employee that just lies and connives, say what is sever to to a person because they in front of him at the time. That's that's that's a

no good person, you know. But Jimmy walked straight to you, say, hey, Nate, something is wrong. I've seen you play better. I know you are better. But this is this is going on what you're doing. It's been three or four games. Now, either you fix it, are you gonna force me to fix it? And I don't think you're gonna like that out You get what I'm saying. It comes a point where you're not bigger than the team and you got

to help the team win. That's the only goal as a player, The only goal you have is to help your team win. This is not golf, this is not tennis, and you're not playing doubles and this ain't a match game, so you're playing straight up the original golf man versus course you know so. But when you're playing a team sport, you have to do your partner. And if you're not doing your part, you know, you get questioned. And that's mainly by management, head, coach, scouts. You're always getting looked at.

And when you know, And that's what I try to tell you when you know us Dallas fans, I believe in unity and love and this is my guy and all this, but my guy got to be winning, and my guy got to be winning his battles. So del Rio's got that. No, oh, he'll fire coaching the heartbeat. I'm serious. Now, he gonna before he get rid of a player, he gonna he gonna make sure it's not

as coaching staff as he's watching everybody. And a lot of a lot of people don't like that about Jack because when he was in in in uh in in in Jacksonville, friend, I mean he was he was one. I mean each year he was firing somebody, he was firing somebody, but each year he had them close to the playoffs. In the playoffs. I don't think I've ever heard him referred to as Jack without the del Rio. Well,

you know it was. That was just interesting. Yeah, Kurt referred to him as Jack three times yesterday, just previewing today's right, right, So, coach del Rio, if it makes you feel better, No, it was just funny thing. Well, see the thing about this, I could block him to the ground, so he was just jacked to me, get to be jail Real if he if he ran over you, then he got to be Jack del Real. Oh that was a good track of Jack del Real. Like Jack,

get him off your back? You didner with Nate. Yeah, So now I'm just kidding, who was the toughest guy you ever practice against? The play on the same team. Really, I hated Leon. Why, I dude, I couldn't reach him. So it's arms. I couldn't reach him. I could put both moms together. I can do to you say both I still this dude. If Leon wanted to practice that day, bad news, bad news, I was like, I just look at him because you ain't gonna make me say uncle.

So I just look at him. Your new ya he want to talk to you and laugh right big er, don't get back. You see him around here a lot? Huh? Yeah, man, I love Leon Man. Yeah. For those of you that don't know Leon's was he d line coach? Yeah? Yeah, here he and you wouldn't recognize him. He's slim way Yeah, he looks like a power forward. Yeah. You couldn't You couldn't touch him, man, But he never reached his full

potential because you know he had other issues. Wow, Leon could have been so much more and but you would have never thought he had been a coach. Yeah, the way he if you knew the Leon that I knew, he could smell media eight miles away. Really, if you walked in his room and Leon walked in his room and Kurt went in here, nothing he could he could tell you. I'll just dude a medium. So you're saying the odds of us ever having him on the show or probably Oh no, you can have him on the show.

Yeah he'll came. Oh yeah, that's what I'm saying from a guy who would not. I had to talk for him during the snow game and a couple other times I had to talk for him. So now you couldn't probably have to slap him the show. Yeah you should invite him on the show. Okay, we'll try. Yeah, but what I do is ID alert him and then I'll tell him that, you know, my man coming up to get you. It's probably gonna have to be an offseason guy because yeah show, he's a little busy right now. Yeah,

that'd be cool. Yeah we could do off you know what, training camp. That'd be a good time to do it. Yeah, yeah, training camp. Speaking of having people on the show, we got clearance this week to u have some Nate had an idea to get some special guests on, so we'll have to do that soon. We'll yeah, get one of the trainers on to talk a little football and behind the scenes stuff, and we're gonna have eventually have a couple of equipment guys that have been here for every

How long has Mike been here? Thirty forty years? Mike been since coach when coach Landry left, some of coach Landry left, Mike was one of the first guys. Then Mike McCoy and then he's been coming in since he was a kid with his dad because his dad was original. Yeah, he was Landry's original equipment guy. Right, Yeah, so I bet he's got some awesome here last season. You know what's so funny is like anything that you do. Uh, if you really want to know aboy the player, that's

that's who I go to. If I really want to know what a guy is. Equipment guy, I go to equipment guy. The trainers. Man, how does this dude act? You know, because they they they are saying, they would be just looking at They'll be looking at you for years and you could act like the worst person. And then and they go, hey, how you doing what you need out? They there to serve you. And then they

find out really how how people treat people? Yeah, yeah, you know, and once they tell me, you know, I never say that, but that person, I'd be like, wow, I'd never thought of a million years. You know, it's so amazing. It's so interesting to me to see because we get to kind of live it here, you see. And it's weird because we see our guys on TV, and we see our guys on interviews and on the internet and all this stuff, and they have this persona and then off camera you get to know them. Sometimes

they're the same guy. Sometimes they're completely opposite there. Some of them are good people, some of them are not great people. But then you see other teams and you don't know those guys and you see that persona and you think that's who they are. You don't realize that, like, you know something, they have a life, yeah, you know, like like these hits that you know, they've been penalizing people for these hits. And a guy and the guy

says something so true. He said, you know because one of the analysts said, oh, that guy, man, he's a he's a low character guy. I saw that. And the guy, the guy gives the charities and it's like, how dare you? Yeah, you don't even know me. And it was a guy for the Steelers. Yeah, what was his name? I can't remember. I saw I saw that. Yeah, got it. Just it

just bothers me. And especially when I see a player do that to another player and don't know an ex player doing that to another player and don't know this guy, right, and you should know better more than anybody. If Trey Wing goes saying it, I can accept it a little better, Adam Schefter saying that I can accept it because they put a player. Yeah. Now, it's just like I can take it when an analysts just out of nowhere saying something you know, Okay, you don't know what a player, yeah,

don't do that. Don't do that, you know. So unless that player then called and say, hey, I got a source, you know. And and that's getting overused these days because now everybody's got a source, and everybody don't have a sources in the way players in the league. Ain't that many sources in the world. Man, you got a source, tell me the name, right, Well, do that or you're gonna lose that source in the locker room too, for sure. Yeah, listen, sir Douglas, he'll say, yeah, no, only if you're on

the show. On the show, sir day is good man. But band of brothers, yeah, you go, unless you're not on the show one day and then you come become the other guy, the other brother. Those were jokes. You know what to do? That said he had a rash with a bad needle. It's the pass. At least he's in my name. Oh all right, let's take one more break and when we come back, we'll figure out something to talk about. Don't hang it with a boy. Cowboys fans know that the second best of anything simply won't

Back to hang it with the boys, back final segment, Final with these two guys, sagments, shagment, I can go back and do my real job, hang out with Bubba Bits. Yeah, exactly, exactly. Have you seen Bubba Bits in Swiss in the same place though? Have you seen the same place? Yit? Dope? Okay? How about Switzer? You like him doing? Going it's like one of the top return men going new? Is he pull him up? Where's he at just the second, sir? All right? Probably in Buffalo? Married in all that snow?

Yeah you know what, No, he made get he made that snow was up high. What's the running back from Buffalo? He badly was able to. It was so funny because like like he had to jump up one of those big snow poles just to get in. So it was so funny, man. Yeah, what what's what's the I would have died. I would have literally I would have folded. See people, man, Cole, was that Thanksgiving game the snowiest game you've ever played in? Man? And I almost died? Really, brother,

I can put up with forty degrees, that's it. But if the wind blow more than three miles an hour, bro, you it ain't no talking to me, It ain't no. Let's drink some coffee and get some you know, mittens or muffins or whatever. No, No, let's go inside, Let's turn the heat up to eighty five, and let's chill. Did you wear did you wear sleeves? And cold weather? Game? O,

tay Man? That game that I played up and up and uh against Philly at uh low left and they stuffed us three times because dumb coaching and and Troy won't and Troy wouldn't make up another play. But anyway, ain't gonna called Troy dumb with a dumb coaches going in there was a dumb player. Huh, let me tell you what I did. I probably tell us one hundred times before we get off this show. I hope in a couple of years. I went out, Man, I was

telling my you know I was. I knew it was cold, so I'm waiting to the last man, I mean making up excuses. They had the warming up. I'm still just one slow, I said, Man, when I go out there, man, ain't you know I didn't have one. Just got on my cut off thermal. You know, ms hang, I'm squat the last minute. Get one to be ready to go, you know, out of out, out out of man. I ran out there. As soon as I turned that corner out of the tunnel, that win caught me. I knew

I was in trouble. Did you go back here? I ran on out on the field, I ran unfest. Man, I'm tougher than this. I'm tougher than this. I think I was warming up with Big I and he, you know, we was doing past block and he hit me in the chest and I felt I thought I was gonna break. Hey, man, I got us the restaurant. I got use the restaurants. Came back out with sleep. I told him Michae, because I said, man, give me some thermals. I said, batter fact, give me two pairs. I put on two pair of thermals,

top and bottom. I put one of them sleeping ain't cover your eyes, put on vassaling all over my body. I ran back out there and I just thought it was saying to me this hild day. Did this h day? Did that help? No? Because they it topped it off with low left and it was right behind me and we did. We lost the game. Something nestling your boys say what you needed? Something nestling your boys? I didn't have that. Boys that day were munchkins that they weren't

even that bro. I was asking that before this, before this, uh last game. During warmups, I was talking to Hitchens out on the field and I was like, what's it You went to school in Iowa. I was like, what's

the coldest game you ever played? And he was like, there was a game we played in He said it was sixteen below Whoa And he said the wind was blowing like twenty to thirty miles an hour and he was like he was like, you would hit somebody and he was like it was like your skin was plastic, like it would make a noise and he was like it felt like you were gonna break every time you hit somebody. I was like, I can't imagine. Because when we played in Chicago three years ago. It was seven.

It kicked off, and that's the coldest. After that, I was like, I will never bitch about being cold, no matter how cold it gets in my life. Like it was so miserable. I had a buddy in the stands. He went, bought a beer, got back to a seat, and sent me a picture. By the time he got to a seat, he turned it upside down and it it was frozen solid, And I was like, oh my, and I remember Barry Church used to always warm up

with no sleeves. He ran out, got to the forty turn around and ran right back, came back with one of those masks on sleeves, like he was like, this is no joke, Like, I'm good. Did you pull up Switzer over there? Yeah? I mean he's uh top ten among guys with the least ten punt returns. He's top ten and average yards. What are he doing? No, he add curtin, you guys are distracting me with your weather talk. He's nine point six yards to return. He's top ten

in kick return yards. They just get if he can just get one nice forty or fifty yard run on a punt, that a push him over ten. They got a pretty good punter, was I was gonna ask you king. I noticed so. Usually usually Beasley inside the twenty fields punts right and then switzers outside the tent is safe. Didn't they trust him? Didn't they put Switzer in inside the twenty one time? Didn't they switch it? They started out like that? Did that he dropped that ball? Did

I know that up? I said, And I lost you know, I lost your trust. But then this pass game, didn't they have him in a well? I think Beasley finally returned one. Yeah, he's either have been fair catching or letting it bounced, And I think he finally returned one. Maybe that's what it was. But I thought I saw Switzer field one that was inside the twenty. Maybe I've made that up. No Switzer, remember at the beginning of the year, they let him do it all, doing all

of it right? Yeah, you know, yeah, few mistakes, the indecision and the phone can do that to us. Then he and he hit a home run and ran one back. I went to Random Special Teams trip I would love you know what, anytime you ask a question or bring a fact to the table, I am all ears Random Special Teams Trivia. The last guy too long snap for the Cowboys before l Oh. I have a I have a feeling it's gonna be like a defensive lineman or a tidy end or something. I'm gonna say last guy

before him. This is in two thousand and five. I was gonna say it, man, two thousand and five. God, I wouldn't know. I know, I wouldn't know. I'm gonna say Jason Witten. It's the Raiders current long snapper, John Condo. What how long has he been in the league. What's his last name? Oh? Condo, no M on the end of it. Yeah, that's what I thought you said. You

know what, sir Douglas. You always had to come across heard the same thing I heard, gutter back there behind the wall, evil genius John not saying that's a condo. You know, if if that had been the guy's last name, so be it, Kurt. If you started raising your kids to be kickers and long snapper, that's the way to go, is fifteen year career. Hellas once you're in there is as long as LP you're probably making close to a

million a year's living, all right, didn't he? And Yeah, all he does is runs around with the kickers and plays golf. Easy peasy, he said, my boy just mentioned Dade Hella straight. That was Troy right here, man, he was it? Yeah he I guess he held Troy's to to baccle for him. His wing man pouch. Well, yeah, I thought I would built bad that cat. He used to have a radio show with two and A and they called it the Snapper and Pineapple Show. Yeah, yeah, Snapper Show. Yeah. What was that on? It was on

KLIF Wow. Everybody had a show back then on the cow brother we were the Dallas Cowboys. Extraordinary. Snapper has a radio show, they did? I had me one too, did you? Yeah? Every Monday morning after games? Which station? Uh one o four? How early? Uh? Parbat? About seven eight? Oh, they caught me a cup to time. I was gonna say they caught me one morning, man, I was. I bet you weren't feeling real good? I do. What's something? Man? What's something? Baby? You all right? Then? Yeah? Did you

have cell phones back then? No? No, they've hit me on the house phone. Oh lord, I was like in bed just and so as soon as the show went off about all later, Hey, man, come on, we gotta have a better reception. So y'all got at least call me thirty minutes before it's I get on up and drank some tobata. Well, fellas, it's that time made it through another and you do the DC girls the cheerleader's part. Yeah, you do that right, Okay, because I call you up

and I realized he's doing a podcast. Oh yeah, when you would call him, I'm sorry about like, what's Nate one? I was like, I didn't want nothing, man, I just want to talk hang out. No, I was about Derek thing. But yeah, yeah, I don't worry about it. Let's get get off there. Okay. A nice cream shirt, man, I like the shirt. Say what they want? Man? Thank you.

I like your Longhorn shirt. Look shot Horn. You on the other hand, sir you, well, well, we like the stuff that you got you that you rangled off the pro shop. Thanks appreciate that. Thank you. Nothing happened to dance the Great Man Dance? What happened to Great Man? I don't know he uh. They thought he looked weird on one of the other shows, so they put him over in the corner and we walked into day and his legs are broken. Yeah, I don't know. Tell you

what that dad, bobble head. I know he's saying we're number one, but from a distance on this camera, it could be there. It goes Douglas's mind. Yeah, man, I need to adjust him. It could be for the haters. There's one for the stacks. Salute. It is finding blacking them up with you, Hi fellows, Well Kurt, thanks for showing up, Sir Nate, thanks for bringing it. Enjoy those ribs. Thank you for the real Douglas. Thanks for doing what you do. Kent, thanks for pushing the buttons. We'll be

back tomorrow, same time. From the Star and Hanging with the Boys. This has been a production of Dallas Cowboys dot Com and the Dallas Cowboys Football Club.
