Episode description

Adam and Will are joined by New York-based artist and tattooer Will Sheldon. Will discusses his work with us: paintings and drawings of fantastical and fairy tale imagery but with a uniquely troubling and dark iteration fitting for our times. Will is also a tattooer and in contra to others working between the art world and tattoo culture (others typically tend to make clear distinction between the craft of tattooing and high art OR end up making tattooish art work) manages to create a clear communicative language between art and tattoos. We discuss this idiosyncrasy, Will's recent exhibitions, Will's recent collaborative book with British writer Charlie Fox, Hans Bellmer, and a shared appreciation for manga artist and filmmaker Hideshi Hino and Charlie Sheen's issues with Hino. Enjoy.
