¶ Swing That Gig
Welcome to Swing that Gig. I am Martin Lindeskog again. Now it will be really a short and sweet episode because it will be about music in a way distribution destinations and how to be found out there as the expression in Swedish Ter poddar fins wherever you could find a podcast. And I have been struggling with Spotify. I've been thinking about this if I would put
it there on Spotify. So I will do a separate episode about Spotify's agenda and where yeah how popular it is here in Sweden, Scandinavia, Europe but also again the agenda and if I should be there back and forth I would think about that contemplating about stuff. But as on all the two you had a certain amount of destinations you could pick from. And one was where I heart radio.
And again they have been. Have had some issues some stories back in the day regarding radio and radio stations and how they have had. I think it was something with all automatically downloads and so on for the statistics for the ads, ad buyers and so on. Some stories probably you could find that on Pod News Daily search on that and see if you could. If you search on iheartradio. And it looks like they are not hearting me because they say you can't sign up or sign
in in my area. So it maybe it's only in North America. And then again you could wonder about that. I thought with destinations Libsynware Liberating syndication they had pretty good things how you could do it in an easy way. For example you could turn it into back in the day soundcloud and YouTube and whatnot. So this was
a challenge here. But the main destinations and podcast applications still are Apple Podcast the purple app on your phone and on your desktop because it's default on the phone iPhone so and on on Android. I don't really know who is most popular nowadays because Google Podcast is no more. You could say it's Google music on Google YouTube that they want you to get into. So they don't have really their own app yet. So then you have Spotify coming there and
who's next. That's something to think about. Maybe Pocket Cast could be that in the long run. And they are now adding podcasting 2.0 features. So that's good. And I think they are owned by controlled by the company organisation behind WordPress. So that's pretty interesting. So something to think about there who will coming because the big players again Apple Podcasts, Spotify and maybe some on third place. But after that it's some podcasts applications where have like a
couple of percent 5% maybe. And then it's a long tail of small podcast applications out there but together they are adding up and I think when will the mainstream media write about alternative and new modern podcast applications? I believe and I think truefence FM will catch piece of a pie and market shares in the long run due to the gamification interactions. Great overview when
you log in so on. And now they are also on the App Store, Google App Store, Android App Store there and Apple Apple Store. So you could find truefence FM and it's also a progressive web app application and also you could have it on the web in the browser, on the laptop for example.
¶ Alternatives to Spotify, Stitcher, iHeartRadio
So I will take a sip here of tea now. Cheers. So I've been thinking of that. So iheartradio it was hard to get but now I got into Pandora and they have bought the company there. The main company Sirius have bought Stitcher that I thought was a good app for some time both on iPhone or Android. And also it seems that their connection or bought SoundCloud. I know that they had a hard time I think they were Swedish and German company hard time for a long time and they didn't upgrade and catching up
in the development regarding statistics and so on. But I liked it for some time and I was a premium customer there but they didn't follow along with development regarding podcasting so they were not up to par there. And when I registered it said something about simple cost also. So maybe have a help assist in cooperation with this. I think it's a hosting company also. But again now I have a badge on my urlware gig.allitude.com homepage
or page for the podcast. So but I myself can't listen to it because it says it's outside this area so it's probably North America. So if you listen there are located in the United States of America or in Canada or some other areas where you could find Pandora. Please check it out and see if you could find my podcast there and listen to it and your listener experience what you what do you think about this service And
I wonder what I will do with iHeartRadio. I will try to add it and then again I will do a specific episode about Spotify. The one that I really managed in a simple way is Deezer so that was one of options also. So that's I think main thing is music there and I don't know compared to Spotify and Apple how much they pay to their artists but I think they definitely are better than Spotify. I don't know if they are at the same level as Apple music or even if they
are better. So you listener out there maybe you could inform me about this and how big is Deezer regarding podcasting? So they had a section called Deezer Podcasts so that you could click on the badge there. I will ask the folks at Olitude to add some new modern podcast badges application and also destinations where maybe you could add your own like podcast index and there you could have a list of new modern podcast application and pick yourself
or some service. For example I'm listed on this episodes FM and thanks to that it's not now on truefence and it is on podcast index other services or taking the RSS feed from there. So it would be interesting over time where my podcast could be found. So again what's your podcast application your favourite at the moment. So with that I will say cheerio talk to you soon and bye for now.
