Priyavrat was the elder son of Swayambhuv Manu.
When Priyavrat realised that the Sun can light up only half of the world and the other half always remains dark, he decided to create another Sun. In order to do that he circumnavigated the earth seven times on a gigantic chariot. It is from the wheels of that chariot that the seven oceans were created and the world got divided into seven continents.
