Punjikasthala

Apsara Punjikasthala had an enchanting body that complimented her sharp facial features. She was very proud of her beauty and dancing abilities. 

Once, Rishi Durvasa was having a serious conversation with Indradev and Punjikasthala would go in and out of the discussion chamber. This was not going well with Rishi Durvasa and he asked her to stop. Instead of regretting her actions and apologizing to the great sage, she started giggling. This made Rishi Durvasa very angry and he cursed her to be born as a monkey in her next birth.

As per Rishi Durvasa’s curse, she was born as the daughter of the monkey king, Kunjara. She got married to Kesari and gave birth to Shri Hanuman ji. In this birth she was known as Anjana.
