Pramlocha

Afraid of the severe penance of Rishi Kandu, Indra sent Apsara Pramalocha to distract him. Pramalocha came to the hermitage of Rishi Kandu and started singing in her melodious voice. Hearing this, the sage opened his eyes and got captivated by the divine beauty of her. He decided to marry her and live a domestic life. 

Sage Kandu was under the impression that not a single day has passed since their union. It was almost evening and he went to perform the evening rites. 

Pramlocha asked her husband “where are you going?” to which he informed his intention. Confused, Pramlocha inquired, “why today, for many years have passed you never performed any rites since we met?” 

Baffled Kandu could not believe his ears and demanded to know exactly how many years had passed. Pramlocha told Kandu that it has been 907 years since the day they got married. Angry Kandu ordered Pramlocha to go back to heaven and also said that he will not curse her for she has been his wife and due to this kind act of kindness God Vishnu blessed Kandu
