Episode description

Devaraj Indra got the curse of becoming a sahasra-chakshu, the one with a thousand eyes, from Maharshi Gautama for having an illicit relationship with his wife Devi Ahalya. Plagued by this agony, Devaraj Indra decided to seek refuge from Mahadev himself. On the southern plateau, he established a Shivling and anointed it with the water of one million rivers. Today, the devotees of Shiva worship this Shivling installed by Indra, seeking blessings from Mahadev. Upon attainment of the boon, the grateful pilgrims often place another Shivling besides the one set up by Indra years ago.

Adorned with innumerable small and large Shivlings installed by such devotees over the years, The place is famous today as Kotilingeshwara, the abode of ten million Shivlings.
