Hidimba Devi Temple

Located in Manali, Himanchal Pradesh, this temple is dedicated to Bhima’s wife, devi Hidimba. The sanctuary is built over a huge rock jutting out of the ground which was worshiped as an image of the deity.

During their time living in forests Bhima had killed the demon Hidimb and married his sister Hidimba.
Hidimba’s son Ghatotkach fought in the Kurukshetra war and was instrumental in getting rid of the infallible Vasawi Dart of Indra from Karna.

After their marriage Devi Hidimba didn’t accompany Bhima, she stayed here instead performing penance and eventually ascended to heaven. 

During Navaratri lots of devotees visit this temple.
