The Marvels of the Mask

When dealing with a respiratory virus like the common cold, influenza, and SARS-CoV-2, the cause of COVID-19, a mask is without a doubt one of the best ways to protect yourself. But, masks are not perfect. You need to be sure you have enough of them for one. And then you have to make sure they work to protect you. After all, why wear something that is just going to let the droplets in.  We’re going to explore how masks work and why homemade masks may be better for you than those medical ones you see in healthcare facilities..  Our guest is M. Taher Saif and he is the Edward William and Jane Marr Gutgsell Professor at the Grainger College of Engineering at the University of Illinois.
