Record floods isolate outback Queensland towns
Dec 29, 2025•38 sec
Episode description
Record rainfall has caused severe flooding across outback Queensland, with up to 500 millimetres already recorded near Julia Creek, creating an inland sea. Major flood warnings are in place for the Flinders River and Mount Isa region, with communities cut off as roads have turned to rivers. The Carpentaria Council is organising emergency deliveries of essential supplies, while a separate weather system continues to drench the north tropical coast.
