Episode description

Lithium-ion batteries in e-bikes and e-scooters have caused almost 300 fires in New South Wales in 2025, with injuries doubling since 2024. The NSW Coroner's Court has launched a major inquiry into the dangers of these batteries. NSW Fire and Rescue Commissioner Jeremy Futrell recommends purchasing reputable brands with Australian compliance standards, proper charging practices, and installing smoke alarms in garages where these devices are typically charged.
