A devastating bushfire in Victoria's southwest has destroyed at least 16 properties and burned through more than 11,000 hectares. Hundreds of residents have evacuated to shelters across the Otways region, while six fires continue to burn out of control across the state. Strong winds have carried smoke as far north as Sydney, and authorities warn the heatwave affecting the northeast continues despite overnight conditions easing.
