Enemy In The Camp

A blessed good night to the body of Christ. I greet you in the wonderful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and our Savior. We want to continue in the Bible studies of First Samuel chapter 18 and we want to finish off the end. We had a chance at looking at some of the things that would cause walk wisely before their enemies to be Constantly walking ways before our enemies. And David in verse 14 of chapter 18, 1 Samuel chapter 18, verse 14, it says

and David behaved himself wisely in all his ways, and the Lord was with him. And we did a little piece, not all, as to how we can walk wisely before our enemies. Um if we go into Proverbs, a pro uh Proverb tells us how uh

How we ought to behave ourselves wisely as well. And maybe we can spend a little time in there getting some information, but As we go on, we will see what other things we can gather so that we would be wise in the sight of men to do the things that the word of God instructs us to do to cause us. to behave wisely. So let's finish off the ending of chapter 18 so we can go back to our original Bible studies and these

So in verse chapter 18, verse I'll start by 25. And Saul said, Thus shall ye say to David, Saul is the king, David is Friend Jonathan's friend is called David. The king desireth not any dowry, but an hundred four skins of the Philistines.

So in order to be married normally from what I'm reading here in this verse you would need to deliver a dowry to the persons the son, the man or the male would deliver this certain amount of whether it be foodstuff, whether it be drinks, whether it be various wines, uh maybe meat um delivered to the household of the girls. But in this case I was

Um King Saul is changing it to suit himself because he wants to get rid of David. I'm gonna try to thread very cautiously with the names because I realize that I'm mixing up some of the names. While I'm speaking, it feels like if I'm saying the right name, but when I listen over, I recognize that I'm calling David Wicked instead of Saul. So I'm gonna try very carefully when it comes to the names. If you see me

It means that I'm trying to think to make sure it is the right name or the right word or the right information that I am given. So it says the king desired not any dowry. any doory, but he preferred an hundred fourth pins of the Philistines. to be avenged of the king's enemies, but Saul thought to make David fall by the hand of the Philistines.

No, even as I read that it would have been better if they had if they had just said he had just said well to David to kill I'm sorry, my dog is behaving really bad. My dog is behaving really bad, said And instead of asking for the hundred four skins, he could have asked for David and his men to destroy the Philistines and I was asking in in one of the previous lessons as to how King Saul expected for David to go and get the foreskin of a hundred Philistines penis.

You know what that is death in itself. Who is gonna allow you to touch their private part? Not only to touch it. Um to cut it off, you understand this this this is a serious thing. This is what Saul is recommending to David so that he can be destroyed.

But the David that we know apparently seems to love a challenge. He wants to be the son-in-law of Saul. And so he's going out to defend his king. He is willing to do this task. To bring his king honour. And so Saul knows the reason why he's sending. David Ow. David does not understand what is going on. He's looking at it as just a normal simple instruction to carry out. So we've got to be careful now as to When instructions are given from persons, is there an underlying um

What is it Holy Spirit? Is there an underlying reason why they're telling you to do certain stuff? Is there a reason behind them telling you to stay behind a little longer? Is there a reason why they're asking you not to go yet? Just sit there for a little bit. Um, is there another um thing they're trying to get over and because

you're so innocent because you don't recognize that these people are not your friends but they are your enemies that you go and get yourself. I believe that there are men who have been killed all because of people who pretended To love them, who pretended that they wanted to hear this story, who pretended that they love them and and told them, uh come out and deal with this situation and got killed.

I believe that there were peop people who were poisoned when they were told to to taste this stuff and to drink this stuff. I believe that there are people who were drawn into drugs because somebody told them, Oh, it will not hurt you. It will give you a better understanding. And now after 50 years, persons are still hooked.

I believe that there are persons who've gone mad because Somebody they trusted put something into their drink and they turned the opposite direction and when they turned around and they began to drink. They got hooked on something. I believe that there are girls that got pregnant because men told them they love them and they will stay with them no matter what happens. They will stay with them, and as soon as they got pregnant.

the men drifted to another girl to mess up their life. I believe that there are boys out there whose lives have been messed up by girls who told them, Oh, we are gonna just have fun and by the end of it their their pictures were floating all across. persons go on the inside and told them, Oh, I'm never gonna tell you we can have a little fling. I'm not gonna say anything. I'm not gonna tell your husband anything. And they got into situations and then it all ended up the husband was told, the husband was shown, the husband was there watching everything, and then it broke up a perfect marriage.

or because there are enemies in the camp. We've got to be careful as to the information that we're given. Is this the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth? Sometimes I'm talking to my children they would turn and they will ask them, Are you telling the truth? And they would laugh.

are you telling the truth because it does not make any sense when they ask are you telling the truth is this the whole truth nothing but the truth and they just laugh because they're saying to themselves mommy well this doesn't make any sense But they've gotten so accustomed to it, y they they say now, yes, that's the truth. Regardless, it's the truth.

We've got to be careful as the information we're getting. Or meet me by such and such gap at 8 o'clock. Why do you want to meet with me at such a late time? And it is only 3 o'clock in the day. We can't meet a little earlier. You wanna set me up? You wanna get me killed? You want me to be in the wrong place at the wrong time? You want me to get into a uh a position where I can't even get up, I can't call for help.

Be careful of the words that you're hearing from your so-called friends, which are called enemies. They're in the camp. They want to destroy you. They want you to be killed. They want their hands to be cleaned. And it make it look as if you are the one who went in all by yourself.

got yourself killed got yourself put into jail got yourself maybe at school somebody tells you oh go and pick up the the the teachers but But Kies it has the Terima kasih kerana menonton! Are you being challenged right now to join a group, to join a gang? And they're telling you you've got to steal somebody's car, you've got to break into somebody's house.

Are they telling you you want to join this particular group or this particular clique? My sis my daughter calls it a clique. She says that's the new word. New word. So if you want to join the clique, for me it's clique. You know, you've got to do it this way, you've got to meet me, you've got to join it, you've got to drink these amount of beer, you've got to smoke this, you've got to rape this body, you know.

So many things that our enemies are trying to get us involved in, and if we're not certain as to what the information is, we will end up. In the wrong place at the wrong time court put into prison lost away for some the amount of years to come up when you're sixty something when you're no good to yourself.

Watch what the enemies are saying. You know the enemies because they've been throwing the the javelin at you time and time again. You know who your enemies are, but yet you put yourself in a position to hear them and to listen to what their words are seen David, yes, David wanted to serve his king. This is his friends, Jonathan's. Father, he wants to please the king. This is a mature man, King Saul, to a young stripling boy, David. And David wants to please the king. Are you in a place?

Where you're trying to please this person and that person, and you're willing to fall to lengths just to be in that that group. Are you right now in a place where you want to be so much a part of the the the the fame group at this school that you will stay and disobey your mother and your father just to be a part of that group? to know where these enemies are. You've got to listen to what they're saying. What they're saying is not what they're saying. They're saying what you want them to hear. They're saying what you want to hear, but you've got to sit and listen to what they're really saying. Anywhere you look, everywhere you look, they are all around us.

They are all around us. You see eyes, but you don't see what's behind the eyes. You hear, but you don't hear what is behind them, what's walking with them, what is teaching them, what is showing them what to do. You've got enemies everywhere, said I don't think any place is exempted. Don't think that any place is exempted. Remember Jesus was in the synagogue. There were enemies there. He walked among the people. Enemies were there. He sat. Enemies were there. He walked.

Enemies were all around. At his table the enemy was there. In the Garden of Get Semane the the the the enemy was there, they're all around. We've just got to decide in ourselves everybody does not love us.

But Saul Thought to make David fall. That's the full reason. That's the reason why they they're in your face. They are on your case. They're they're constantly calling you. It's not that they love you, they want you to fall. They have a a hidden agenda. You know the agenda. The Holy Spirit tells you the agenda but you still go. They want you to fall and you want to fall because you figure that when you fall it's gonna make them love you more.

Their aim is to steal, to kill and to destroy. They want to destroy you. They want you to fall. But here we see with David, there seems never to be a falling for him. Every time Saul tries to do something, David prospers. Get what's going on? God was on David's side. David was innocent. God was looking out for him because God had a greater plan for David. Mm-hmm. Saul saw David as a thorn in his side.

David was coming into a purpose and a plan that God had for him, and God was showing him all of these things. He was training him up. He was bringing him up because a time will come when he will have to deal with people. A time will come when he will be in the throne room. He will be sitting on the throne and then he will know all that he has gone through. He will be able to use it.

Saul wanted him to fall. Think about it. You've been through things that you know that they wanted you to fall, but you never did. You never did. No matter what they said, no matter what they did, You never fell from grace. You were raised up. God raised you up. God bless you. God caused you to flourish.

I will fear no evil for thou art with me. Thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of my enemies. And this is what God was doing for David, He was preparing him in the presence of his enemy, and Saul saw it. Saul saw all that God was doing for him, even though he tried to get rid of him. God was causing this young man to prosper. Verse twenty six and when his servants told David these words they

It pleased David well to be the king's son in law and the days were not expired. Imagine somebody got evil for you and all you want to do is good. When when the servants told David these words, it pleased David. David felt well. David felt on top of the word that Saul wanted him to be son in law. If he knew the heart of this man. If he only knew the heart of Saul. Saul had nothing good in store for David, but it pleased David well to be the king's son in law, and the days were not expired.

Verse twenty seven wherefore David arose and went, he and his men, and slew the of the Philistine two hundred men, and David brought their four skins and they gave them in full. to the king, that he might be the king's son in law, and Saul give Michael his daughter, or Michael, his daughter, to wife.

You think Saul expected David to win that war? He not only had one hundred foreskin, he had two hundred foreskin. You think Saul wanted that to work out? Saul expected them to bring back news, oh they captured David and they killed him. He wanted to hear some sort of bad news or evil report. But David did well. God, whatever, um...

Strategy they used they came back not only with 100 but 200. You gotta play your cards right, you gotta have your ears to the Holy Spirit, you gotta listen to when the Holy Spirit is speaking. You think that if the Holy Spirit didn't come or the angels didn't come and warn Joseph that they would not have killed Jesus? The angels came and told them to run and go somewhere else because they were men seeking to kill the baby. You gotta listen to the Holy Spirit saying.

You've got to know when to duck, remember when um soul I think the javelin after David, you know, David got out of the way just in time. He was one step ahead of Saul. One step, always a step ahead of Saul. And we need to listen to the Holy Spirit. You've got to listen to the Holy Spirit. I sang you a song the other day Who is it tells us what to do and when to something something? It's the spirit holy spirit it's the spirit of the Lord in you.

It's the splendid Spirit, holy spirit, is the spirit of the Lord in you. It's the spirit holy spirit It's the spirit. You gotta have your ears to the Holy Spirit. To hear what the Spirit is saying to the church. The reason why we're behind time is because we're not hearing what the Holy Spirit is saying to the church. The reason why we don't have the relevant information is because we're not asking the Holy Spirit.

Constantly, Holy Spirit, what is going on in this place? What is going on with my spirit, holy children? He says he will never leave us nor forsake us. And if the Holy Spirit is with us on a constant b basis, he knows what I'm doing. When I'm separated from my husband. So husband should be able to say, Holy Spirit, what is my wife doing at this time?

Reveal to me the heart of my of my wife. Does she love me or does she not love me? Reveal the hearts of my children. Are they being honest with me? Are they telling the truth? Reveal the hearts of the enemy. You've got the the heart of the king. Reveal the heart of the king. Reveal the heart. of this minister that I'm going to reveal the heart of this representative. I'm going to I I've been asked to to meet this particular person a certain place at a certain time.

Holy Spirit, should I go up or should I stay behind? Is it a wise step to go and meet this person single or single? It's the spirit of the Lord in. It's the spirit, holy spirit, it's the spirit of the Lord in me.

Who is it tells us what to do? I'm gonna get my daughter to get me that book. And I'm gonna sing it before I'm finished because I believe that it's a very beautiful song. A very beautiful song. David had to be hearing somebody, somebody had to behind be had to be behind David, telling David when to don when to don't come in, when to come in, when to stay away. Winter tread carefully. It says David arose.

Right? David arose and went he and his men and slew of the Philistine two hundred. No that will make Saul madder than mad. Because he's not expecting David to to be successful. He's expecting David to feel. But God was on this young man's side and he was successful a hundred percent over the God brought Saul, sorry, God brought David to a hundred percent success.

We talk about the talents. We talk about the five, the man that burked that invested the five and got five others. The two invested and got two others. The one went and hid his talent. And made nothing. In this case, David prospered a hundred percent over. Saul said a hundred, I think a hundred was a lot. I think a hundred was a lot, even though it was not David alone who was fighting, it was his army.

It was a lot. But David wanted to please his king so much he did two hundred instead. And you would think that Saul would be pleased and rejoicing. He had nothing against the Philistines. He just wanted to set up David and to cause his fall. David brought the four skins and they gave them the full teal to the king. Now remember the king was telling the servants to tell David such and such. But the remember earlier on that these men were enjoying David's presence.

Remember that David These servants were Pleased with David. They were glad when he went up with them and they he came back in. They were glad they felt good. To know that David was plea was there with them. They came back and they sang songs. The women sang songs about David. Everybody had a good report to give about David. You think that Saul wanted to hear this?

When you have an enemy he does not like to know that you are every minute they call you your name, every more minute they say something good about you, every minute everyone. Uh uh she has something else to do every minute he has someplace else to go every minute they call him to do this, calling him to do that, call this will meet any ex any enemy any enemy vex. The report Saul was looking for he did not get, but he got two hundred. A hundred percent over in victory.

And Saul gave him Michael or Michael, his daughter, to wife. But look what it says. In verse 28, and Saul saw and knew that the Lord was with David, and that Michael, Michael, Saul's daughter, loved him. He took one and then the other one loved him. He gave over the first daughter to someone else and thought it would have been A thorn in David's sight, but Michael loved David.

And Saul was yet the more afraid of David, and Saul became David's enemy continually. You see those two dots there again? Is it two dots? No, it's not two dots, it's the sem semicolon. Whatever comes after that is just as important. And Saul became David's enemy continually. I want you to see the process of the names. It is David. And Saul saw and knew, he knew it that the Lord was with David, and that Mikal, son's daughter, Saul's daughter, loved him.

And Saul, verse 29, was yet the more afraid of David. And Saul became David's enemy continually. You hear what it says? And Saul became David's. Enemy continually, so it was not from David to Saul, but it was from Saul to David. That's where the enemy came. David was not an enemy of Saul. He wanted to please King Saul with everything within him. Saul on the other hand was David's enemy. You imagine trying to be an enemy all the day long continually, continually.

You will wear yourself thin. You will go to sleep more tired than you're supposed to go. Your your mental faculty will be so burnt out. Just living and looking for a way to destroy a man. You're putting pressure on your body. You're putting pressure on your mind. When you should be sleeping at night, you're counting the cost as the what is the next step because the four skins did not work. What next?

What next? What next? What should they do to him? What should they the javelin didn't work? What should they do next? the the first daughter did not work, the servants did not work, the the the army did not work. What must I do to get rid of this man? Remember the Israelites when the Egyptians try to bury them with work and not give them the right materials, it says they wax greater and greater.

More stress you ever think that they will die off? If God be for you, who can be against you? I want to say that again. If God is for you, who can be against you? Greater is he that is in you than he that is in the world. Yeah, he's huffing and he's puffing. He's throwing javelins. He's sending this body. He's sending that body. He's sending David out to the company of the Philistines. But greater is he that is in David than he that is in King Saul.

Enemies, they're all around us. Enemies, they're in the north, the south, the east, and the west. They want you dead. They'll send you out to battles. They don't expect you to win but you're going to come back 100% over. They're gonna send you to battle. But I declare over you today you will return a hundred percent over. You've got to believe that God is on your side. That when he said I will never leave and I will never forsake that he will never leave and that he

has not forsaken you. You're gonna see yourself prospering. You're gonna see yourself coming up. You're gonna see your Winning battle after battle, and you don't understand how it was won, but you're gonna recognize that you are in the victory seat. You're gonna see your life turning around. You're gonna see your life life coming back to what it

Has been or it used to be and surpassing it because God is working it out, God is showing you victory after victory. Just listen to what the spirit is saying, and you will see your life bounce right back. Remember what the the proverb says that they will they will set um sneers for you but they will fall right into it. You've got to believe that God is working it out for your good.

If you love God and you're called according to his purpose, you've got to believe that you are the winner man. You've got to believe that you're on the winning side. You've got to believe that King Jesus is your King and He's gonna work it out. For your good, you've got to believe that God has already prospered you. You've got to believe that no matter who comes up against you, that King Jesus will work it out for you. Saul can as well relax himself.

All he's doing is burning himself out. All he's doing is digging a deeper depth for himself. All he's doing is building a bigger case against himself. Even if God decided he would give him a second chance. All of these things that he's doing against David, who is innocent is in his height in his sight, would prove to God he's not worth it. He's not worth that second chance. But I want to tell you tonight. that no amount of souls SAU L will stop your victory.

But no amount of javelins from Saul will hinder you from the destiny that God has created for you before the foundations of the world. You've got to believe in God. You've got to trust God. You've got to believe that God knows what He's doing, what He's saying.

And Saul became David's enemy continually. That was a choice. That was a choice to be David's enemy continually. And s the thing about it is David is not doing anything. um to to vengeance himself, to avenge himself. Remember God says vengeance is mine safe the Lord. Let God have his way. Let God work it out. Let God work out the situation and you're gonna see it's gonna work out for your good. four your good list continue reading.

Then the princes of the Philistines went forth, and it came to pass that After they went forth that David behaved himself more wisely than all the servants of Saul, so that his name was much set by His name is being called at every table. David's name is is spoken about. When they carry their sheep out their floods out David's name is being called

When they set examples, David's name is being called. When they have a story to tell, it must include David. David's name is on the lips of every person. We had a song which used to say Take my name out your mouth Well David's name was in everybody's mouth because he behaved himself wisely. And you know, because he was behaving himself wisely, everybody had their eyes on him. How can you be a a a a a trendsetter and people not talk about you?

How can you be an example setter and people not? They're always gonna have their eyes on you because they're gonna wonder what's next? What is he gonna do next? Everybody say hate your enemy. But David loves his enemy. If his enemy's stalks fall into a ditch, he's there to take it out. A trendsetter, and this is what we need in this day trendsetters that set good examples.

We don't want those who go in the opposite direction and call it a trend. Well, trends are trends, but we're talking about good trends. Setting examples for the young, setting examples for the the older, the mature. David was a trendsetter so that his name was much set by. And this tells me that it's only not only the older who will set examples, young ones are able to set examples too.

It's not only the young ones that will set examples, but there's some older ones who will set examples as well. They will set example. It does not matter if it's male or female, as long as the spirit of the Lord is upon that person. They too will be trendsetters. And we need trendsetters. We need them in the church. We need them in the schools. We need them in the governments. We need them on buses. We need people that will uh stand up for right.

And be trendsetters regardless of what people say bec regardless of what people uh do, how they talk about them, trendsetters. To set trends, to to set examples. That not because everybody is going in that direction makes it right. They they make their own trends. Bring it honour and glory to God. Jesus was a train setter. He came and he did not fall into the same mold that everybody was in. He made a train that caused people to think different and to act differently.

Do we want to stay in the same mould? Do we want to be like everybody else? Or do we want to be the person that God has destined us to be? so that his name was much set by what does the Proverbs talk about is uh having honour in a name. I don't think that's the word they use. But let your name bring you honour. Let your name bring you honour that when they talk about your name Oh I know her and they begin to smile and get excited.

That when they hear your name they don't bring up twelve thousand stories that they hear in the past. Even if they're twelve thousand stories for the the next twelve thousand stories, all they do is smile and they want to share and I can share the last one with you. Your name is something above all. It's good to have a good character than I can't remember all of them, but these I will look up.

We thank God for the life of David. We thank God for the life of Saul. To show us that not everybody is the same. We can choose to be like Saul or we can choose to be like David. The choice is ours today. We can choose if you want to walk. wisely behave wisely behave more wisely like David Or if we want to walk in the the steps of Saul. The choice is ours today. We made the choice if we want to be good or if we want to be bad. Evil.

The choice is ours, said We know that some will choose to walk like Saul. From the desk going up. Days coming up to the time they reach adulthood, we know that there's some who have it seems that if they have the path etched out for them to be like Saul. Then you have some growing up, you realize their lives are etched out to be different, like David. So tonight we give God thanks and we give God praise. We thank God for the reminders that we're not all the same, but changes can come.

We thank God that He sent His only begotten Son that changes can be made to our lives and we can become better people. Through the leading of the Holy Spirit, we can become better people.

Let's look at Saul and see that Saul was not always like this. Saul was not always sending javelins at people's children's head. That there was a time when Saul had a good heart. There was a time when Saul was prophesying with all the other prophets. There was a time when he was curing after his father's animals. There was a time when he sat with prophets. Samuel.

There was a time. There was a time. It's the same way with you and me. There was a time when we behaved well. When our words were seasoned with salt. When our our actions Show that we were kind, we were gentle, and But another time came and we started to get hard hearted. We began to do evil. We began to say things that we never thought would come out of our mouths, but it was coming out. It was coming out.

There was a time when we would be seen in the sanctuary We would have been going to church if we We would have been at a particular meeting. We would have been sitting with a certain set now we've changed our lifestyle has changed. And we're drinking all the beers that we can have. Nothing wrong if you drink one. But if you're gonna sit down and spend your whole packet just drinking and drinking and drinking and drinking.

Or smoking and smoking and smoking and smoking and cussing and cussing and cussing and cussing. And being rude and being rude and being rude and Or lives have changed? Is it for the better? Is it for the worst? You can look at yourself and see if you think you've changed at all. Have you changed from the person you were ten years ago, twenty years ago, thirty years ago?

You can look at your life and say to yourself I've gone far away from where I thought I would have been. The things I do today I never thought of myself that I will be doing these things. And I've gotten myself mixed up in things that I can't even change. I've got to constantly be doing the same things because I've I've chiseled out something in my life that I can't turn back on. I've etched something in my life that

was supposed to be only for a couple of minutes. No, I've got to uh live up to the Joneses. I thought it was easy just to say let her go and do it. No, I've got to be living this life still I'm not this person, but because I've etched it out, now they expect me to say these things all the time. They expect me to to do these things. They expect me to look at these things. They expect me to watch these things. It was just for a moment, just a little sport It was just for a giggle.

It was just to lighten up the moment. And ten years down the line I'm still lighting up the moment. I've still got to keep up appearances. This is not who I want to be. This is not something I want it to last so long. No, I've become the person who they expect to do that particular thing. They expect it from me now. When I'm in my close corners, I wish I could change. I wish I can be different.

I wish when they expect of me to do this particular thing that I I um bring a surprise to their heart. I am not the one.

God is willing to change me. He has changed me before. I don't want to be like Saul King Saul at that, having the appearance of a king but behaving very strangely, evilly. I want to be like David. No respect Saul no matter what he does. Who looks up to Saul even though he does not have a good eye for me? If I could only change. Lord, I'm asking you to change me right now. Lord, I'm asking you to change me back to who you had ordained for me to be. Lord, I'm depending on you.

I've gone too far, Lord, and it's too far for me to turn back, but I know there's hope in you. They may not see me as good anymore. But God, you're able to change me. And I'm depending on you, God, to change me. Change me. Change me, Lord. If anybody else can do it, if any person can do it, Lord, I know it is you. And so I've I'm depend I tried it, Lord, and I failed.

I tried, Lord. It did not work out. Lord, I tried, I tried, Lord. You know that I've been trying. But they're expectin' it from me. They're expecting me to do it. So I've got to something nudges me and tells me, go ahead and do it. They're waiting on you. And so I have to do it. God, it's too much stress. God, it's too much for me. Lord, I need your intervention. Father, we give you thanks. That their souls and their Davis and their And they don't have to remain the same as they are.

Lord God, you've created them for a purpose and a reason. You've chosen them for something better. And I pray God they will find out what the better is and they will accept the better. Father God, we give you thanks and we give you praise. We give you glory, God, because you are working it out for our good. Lord, we fail, but we heard that you're not a failing God.

So we ask you, mighty God, to help us in this instance. If you can do it for them, do it for me. Do it again for me, Lord. Do it over for me, Father. Do it for me now, Lord. I want to change.
