Episode description

Are reward-based credit cards worth it?
All those purchases can add up to some significant amounts.
The answer lies in who is using the cards.

If you are a very disciplined consumer who uses their cards for convenience and not for retail therapy, it may be ok.
But buyer beware. The credit card companies are in business to make a profit, so if you are getting "Free Money," then some other chump is paying for it.
Credit cards make it easy for you to spend more. The average cash purchase is $22 vs. a whopping $112 for credit cards. Even if you get 5% back ($5.55), you are still out over $85. That is why the average American credit card debt is $6,028. If you carry a balance paying their exorbitant interest rates, you may want to consider doing some plastic surgery on your cards to rid yourself of the stress.
