A large majority of people in Vanuatu report having others they can count on in times of health or financial need. The number has dropped, however, by roughly 10% over the 10-year period from 2010-2020, signaling a loss in traditional social security and weakening kinship networks. Despite the trend, a majority of people still enjoy that safety net in Vanuatu today as evidenced in this episode.
