Now it's incredibly sad to say this , but we know that alcohol is one of the biggest killers in the entire world . Believe 95,000 Americans die from alcohol related deaths every single year . That is a lot of people , all because of this one single drug . Now I know what you're thinking when you clicked on this title .
Of course , I'm going to live longer if I stop drinking alcohol . Listen , I'm not going to talk to you about how stopping drinking is going to decrease your risk of cancer or some of the disease that alcohol can contribute to developing . No , I'm not going to do that . We know that .
We know that when we stop drinking alcohol , of course we're going to be healthier . It's poison . How can putting a poison in your body add anything to your health and longevity ? Can't , because it's literally poison .
So can't wait to share this with you today , because I promise you , after watching this video , you will be so motivated to not only not drink alcohol , but to start creating better habits and better things in your life that will make you prolong that decision for the rest of your life .
So what inspired me to make this video was this book just arrived in the post , so let me grab it one second so you might have already seen it . It's going pretty viral right now but it's called Outlive , so it's a book on longevity .
Now I haven't started reading it yet , but what inspired me to actually buy the book was a friend of mine who's really into longevity sent me a graph and the graph looks something like this and basically it's a summary of a study that shows that the better your VO2 max is , the lower your chance of death is , and basically , the better your VO2 max , the better
things are and , as you can see , the fitter that you get , the lesser benefits there are . But at the end of the day , that was a pretty cool graph , so that inspired me to buy the book , which inspired me to make this video . But anyway , so I shared this graph with Joe . So Joe is a coach , so he works in the Sober Clear program .
He also helps some of the members in there and he said Leon , how do you do this cardio , like I just can't motivate myself , like I do it , but I just hate it . And I sent in this graph . Because as soon as I saw this graph I was just like , oh my word , like that is insane . I couldn't believe it .
So I sent in the graph and he's like whoa , that's crazy . Then I shared it with the rest of the community and other people were saying like that's just insane . And I was just having a conversation with a friend of mine and this is what we were discussing . We were discussing how to improve our VO2 max . You know , I was looking in Dubai .
I was looking at a laboratory where you can go and test your VO2 max . So I've got some kind of benchmark . And then you know , get on the program , keep running , keep doing what I'm doing , and then go and retest it again in six months . Just , you know , would be fun to do .
And then I was thinking of making a video and I was like , cool , what should I talk about today ? And then I was like , wait a minute . Like what have you been doing for the past few days ? You've been learning about VO2 max and living longer .
And I was like , hang on , why not talk about this because when I was drinking alcohol , the thought of caring about a VO2 max and living as long as I can that was the last thing on my mind . I was just getting through the day . I was just waking up , dragging myself to work , feeling hungover and just trying to survive .
Maybe that week I wasn't drinking and I was just waiting for the weekend and I could finally blow out . The last thing on my mind was how am I gonna live healthy and live a great quality of life when I'm in my 70s , 80s , 90s and beyond ? I didn't give age to that pitfall event .
And when I say that stopping drinking is gonna make you live longer , I'm not talking about the cancer . I'm not talking about the diseases that alcohol can contribute to you developing .
I'm talking about things like this See , when you don't drink alcohol , the energy comes back , your clarity comes back , you're able to sit and study things , you're able to start thinking about the future with confidence that you're gonna go into the future without this drug and this chain around your neck .
You start to know that if you commit to a program some exercise program , some health program that you'll actually follow through with it and you're not gonna fall off because you're out all weekend getting smashed . This is what I mean when I say that you'll live longer because you start making better quality decisions .
How can we live our life making this terrible decision to drink a destructive poison and then say , well , you know , at least I go to the gym , at least I eat healthy , but then every night you're there drinking a bottle of wine , drinking this poisonous substance that is lowering your life expectancy . Making a terrible decision every single day .
When you stop that bad decision , you can start making good decisions . You can start making quality decisions . You can start deciding to work on your VO2 max , to work on your strength , to eat the right kind of foods , because they're the kind of things that will make you live longer . And listen , I've not even started reading the book yet .
I'll be honest with you . I've read the first few pages . Now I was like , yeah , this is , this is gonna be heavy reading . But what a contrast buying a book on longevity and actually doing the things that it says . Because I've read some summaries , I know this VO2 max and a bit , a bit about the nutrition , the strength . How about that ?
Working on that instead of just surviving the weekend , living for the weekend or binge drinking and forgetting the weekend , or Drinking every single day . And this is the awesome thing about not drinking alcohol you can do this as well . You can start working on becoming this best version of yourself .
You can start working on your self-improvement , designing a vision for your life . You know , instead of thinking how am I gonna get through this week , you can start thinking well , hang on , how am I gonna be when I'm 50 , 60 , 70 , 80 ? How do I want my life to look then ?
And then the actions that you take today can all be aligned , with you arriving at this vision . That , to me , is exciting . It's not exciting , it's awesome . It's the best thing ever , and that is exactly what I want for you . I want you to live a long and healthy life . I don't want you to keep poisoning yourself and turning to the bottle .
I want you to be taking care of yourself . I want you to be working on your fitness , working on your health , working on your VO2 max , working on whatever it is that you want to work .
I'm not saying you need to become a runner , listen , do whatever you want , but the point is is that by stopping drinking alcohol , you make one of the best decisions that you can make for your future , because once you make that decision , that cutoff point , and you say enough is enough and putting this behind of me , it's like a new lease on life .
