So I drank for close to 10 years and that 10 year period that I drank for was nothing short of a rollercoaster . Listen , there were times in my life that I drank alcohol and I made progress . You know , I went to the gym .

I might have had a relationship , there were times when things were going well , but there were countless times that I put myself in situations that the sober me would never dream of going in . I've been black out drunk in the middle of Medellin , colombia , which is a pretty damn dangerous city to be blacking out in .

A taxi driver could have just kidnapped me and that was it . Looking back , that was absolutely stupid . I'm so ashamed to admit this , but listen , I'm just going to be honest with you , but I've driven drunk before . I've driven completely hammered . That's not something that I would ever dream of doing sober .

But then , as soon as those drinks go in me , I start making these ridiculous decisions . I've been so drunk before that I threw up blood man . I even remember there was a night that I was in London and I can't even remember what I did .

I just had this flashback where all of a sudden my senses had to peak because I thought something bad was going to happen . I don't even remember what I did . Maybe I talked to this guy's girlfriend , maybe I I don't know just said something stupid and he went psycho on me . I thought he was going to murder me . Like it was absolutely terrifying .

I had to leave the venue and this is cringe . It's horrible for me to even say this because it's not who I am anymore . But in this video I'm not going to be talking about these dangerous situations that potentially could have killed me .

I'm going to talk about something completely different , because alcohol did almost kill me , but it almost killed the person that you're looking at right now . And by the end of this video I promise you one thing you will understand that there is a version of you that is 100% capable of living an incredible life without a drop of alcohol .

There's a version of you that doesn't miss it , that's happy without it , and if you stick with me to the very end of this video , you're going to understand that it's possible for you to change as well and stick on that path . So before I talk about this way that alcohol almost killed me , I need to give you a bit of context .

So when I was around 21 years of age , I'd already had tons of run-ins with drinking . I'd already been , you know , getting smashed , not drinking up , down all that stuff . I'd already tried AA meetings . At this age I'd already tried to stop drinking countless times , sometimes with success , sometimes without .

But around this age I started looking into YouTube videos and I remember I was watching a lot of self-improvement , I was reading a lot of self-improvement books and I found them super helpful because when I grew up , I was very shy , I wasn't good at talking to people , I was very introverted , I was kind of self-improvement books .

And around that same time I came across a YouTube channel . Now the YouTube channel was called Project Life Mastery . The guy that made the videos was called Stefan James . I mean , maybe some of you have seen it before .

He doesn't really make content anymore , but when I found this channel it felt like it was speaking directly to me and he shared this video of his life plan . And he shared a video about how to find your own purpose in life , and I never forget it . I remember he had this purpose for his life and I just felt so inspired that , yeah , this is it .

I need a similar purpose . And I remember around this time that I really decided that my purpose in life was to shine as bright as I could , to encourage other people to shine , because I truly believe that when you shine bright , it gives permission for other people to shine as well . Somebody that radiates positivity and happiness and all of that stuff .

It's infectious , and this guy infected me because of his attitude and his outlook on life . I just felt like , yeah , this is a guy that I can respect . Also , around this time , he was talking about how an online business worked , and this was the first time I was ever introduced to this .

Now , bear in mind , I was at a point right now where I was deciding what degree I wanted to do . I went to university a lot later . Because of the chaos in my early years , I didn't do A-levels or you know . I had to kind of do all this other stuff to get into university later , but it was around this time that I was choosing my degree .

Now I'd signed up for this degree . It was in a hospitality , and it was actually something that my mum encouraged me to do and I just didn't know what to do with my life . So I just kind of did something that somebody else told me to do .

Right , I'm sure we've all been there before , but when I started listening to this guy , he explained how these online businesses work , and it was all about providing as much value as you can . And then things come back to you and for the first time ever , I felt a sense of purpose . I thought that is amazing . I could do something like that .

And then what ended up happening is I ended up switching my degree . I didn't do this hospitality degree . I ended up moving it into a business and marketing degree because I figured I'd have more options . It was kind of in alignment to this stuff and even if I wanted to do something completely different , at least this degree opened up more doors .

So I ended up changing my degree to this one , and thank God I did , because I wouldn't be here today without making that decision . But anyway , what ended up happening next is I felt this sense of purpose , but at the same time , I kept drinking .

So what would happen is I would have these periods of my life , whilst I was at university , that I wouldn't drink .

I'd be training , I'd be in good shape , I'd be doing all of this good stuff , and then I'd drink , and then I would just kind of hide , I wouldn't go out , I wouldn't socialize , I wouldn't do all these bits and pieces , and I'd just kind of withdraw myself and then I'd stop drinking again . And then I made my first ever YouTube video .

You can't actually see it on the channel , I've hidden it now , but seven years ago , that's where I made my first YouTube video and the whole video was about stopping procrastination , starting something now , and it was two minutes long . And I made that video during a period where I didn't drink .

And actually there is another video that I made talking about not drinking for 30 days and all the great things that happened in my life . And this was like seven years ago , way before I started doing sober clear and helping people not drink . And then guess what would happen ? The exact same cycle just kept happening . I would feel aligned with my purpose .

I'd be crushing it , I'd be making videos , I'd be being the person that I wanted to be , and then I'd drink and then I would completely stop all that positive stuff .

I'd stop training , I'd start going out into bars , into nightclubs , mixing with the wrong kind of people , and then I'd stop drinking and then I'd go back into this purpose mode and I'd start giving .

I'd start making these videos I've got lots of videos that a lot of you will never see because I'm a little bit shy to put them out there , because they're not that great but at the time I felt like I was living in alignment with this purpose . And this is what I'm talking about .

Right , this is what I'm talking about and this is the message that I've got for you today . I don't know what your purpose is , right , your purpose might be to build the best business you can . It might be to raise the best family that you can . Your purpose might be similar to mine you want to shine bright and then encourage other people to shine .

Your purpose might be completely different . It might just be to give to your local community , to your church . But I promise you one thing when you drink alcohol , you will never align fully with that purpose .

Yeah , you might be in 50% , right , you might give 50% in your relationship , in your family in your business , but when you drink alcohol , you are clouded . You are never fully aligned with that best version of yourself , the one that's fully on their purpose .

And what happened to me is when I drank alcohol , I started going back to that person that I kept being every time that I stopped for a short period of time , and that is why I do what I do today . That's why I make so many videos . I think I've made a video every other day for like three years .

I've probably made over a thousand YouTube videos , not just on this channel or on other channels as well . This is what I'm talking about . Alcohol could have killed me . I did put myself in some ridiculous situations , but you know what it did kill ? It killed the best version of me . It kept me withdrawn . It kept me from he put himself out into the world .

It kept me from acting courageously and it made me live this mediocre existence where I was reserved and I just wasn't giving everything that I could .

And as soon as I removed alcohol from my life , then I aligned with my purpose , I started becoming the best person that I could be and listen , it sounds a little bit cringe , like I don't want to come across as boastful or showing off .

All I'm trying to do is explain to you the amazing things that happened in my life as a result of not drinking alcohol , because I know that for you the same thing can happen , provider that you get into that state of mind where you 100% know that alcohol is doing nothing for you in your life and it's stopping you from becoming the best version of yourself .

As soon as you get there , then stopping drinking isn't hard , it's not difficult , it's effortless , because you make a logical decision to not drink based on your understanding of alcohol , and then you step into this best version of yourself .

You align with your purpose , you start working on your health , your fitness , your family life , your work , your finances , your spirituality , and that is so damn exciting .
