We're still friends, We're still friends. We're still friends. We're still. Friends. Actually, I do have a funny I have a funny story about that. I was in the Middle East and the Middle East, like dude, that happens a lot. Like it's just that happens way like way more than what you think. And I remember I went to get him and Muslims are very like anti-gay, you know, especially if you're in the Middle East. Like they're anti-gay, you know, they're like, hey, you're gay. What is?
But don't don't touch me. Like that's just how they are. Yeah. And I remember there was a a Barber shop next to a massage parlor. And I'm like, man, I've been in this place for a month. I'm sore. I'm beat up on my training camp. And hey, brother, the massage parlor next door. Do you know if it's good or not? They're like, no, no, no, it's it's it's no good. I'm like, why have you have you tried it before? He says, no, no, I just, I don't like it. I'm like, OK, well, well, why he
goes, it's, it's all guys. I'm just like, dude, at this point I don't even care, like if a guy massages me, as long as he feels good. Like I just want to massage. I want to feel better. And he goes, I, I think it's gay. I think it's gay. I was like, dude, I'm going to go in there. I'm going to ask like, I don't care.
I just want to massage. And I go and it's supposed to be a Thai massage, but it's like a bunch of Filipinos walking around and I, I walk in and for sure the guy in the back is like a gay Filipino just staying in there. He's like, oh, how can I help you? You know that stuff? And I'm just like, oh, you had a menu of like, the massage is like Swedish, Thai, all that stuff. And the very bottom it says ultimate massage. And I'm like, what the fuck is
an ultimate massage? And I'm like, but there's no descriptions, you know? But it's cheap. So I was like, excuse me, what's the ultimate massage? And I just see nothing but guys walking around. So there's no females in this place. He goes, oh, this one, you get 2 guys. And I'm like, yeah, no, I don't. I don't want that one. I mean, did we know it was a special massage or was it like
two guys working on your back? It was supposed to be two guys just massaging you, you know, that's it, that's it. I mean, 'cause it said like deep tissue Swedish, she'll tie. And then the very bottom ultimate massage is like, you get 2 guys. I'm like, I'm not going to do that one, why not? But I got the tie and you are completely butt naked and it threw me off a little bit, but I didn't care. It was honestly one of the best massage they've ever gotten. But yeah.
Was it? Was it a gay massage though? No, no, I don't believe so unless I'm a wrestler. So there's, it has to be like super, super gay for me to be like, oh, this is gay because we're, I think we're all kind of little gay, but I mean. Usually it's a good massage. That's how you know it's a legit massage, right? You see, the only problem is like, and guys understand this. We're like sometimes we just so happen to get a little excited
and it's not our fault. Like sometimes we, we just wake up or I'm laying on my stomach and some guys like pushing your back or somebody's pushing your back and your fucking Dick is like doing this. Like you're like, hey man, you should stop because that kind of feels nice. And even though I don't like this, this little guy likes this. You know what? I'm butt naked and this guy's like massaging my back and I'm
like growing down my leg. I'm like, oh God, please don't, please don't, Please don't you know? So it's very. Outside said. I think it's. Gay. Yeah, He's like a brother. I think it's gay. I'm just like, it's a pretty cheap massage, so go get it, dude. I went back. It was a good massage, all right. So how many times did you end up going back there? For the time I was, I was there three times. And none of the times you went from, none of. The times. Oh, God, though, No, I couldn't
handle two small men on my back. They're small. Yeah. They're tinier than me. And that's me. That's the best massage you've ever gotten? Dude, actually today was a really good massage. It was like a little 70 year old lady. Then Thai massages, you know, they have the poles on top and they like climb on your back and then jump on you and stuff. Dude, she, she was my chiropractor. She was my stretch therapist. She stretched me out like it was. It was phenomenal. And no Tuggies.
No, Tuggies. Actually, when you walk into this place, it literally says no happy endings. Really. Yeah. And they beat the shit out of you. So it's it's kind of nice. They can fight there, too. No, they just they're little old ladies who like put all their pressure on you and use their weight to their advantage. And it's actually really impressive. Besides me, I literally just go to places for massages and we
were talking off air. Like dude, the only time I've ever gotten a quote UN quote tuggy is from massages at people's houses. Like it just so happened to be like, and it wasn't even I was going there for anything. I was like, I'll come to get a massage. You know, it just so happens to be like a pretty female or just
female, whatever. And then I don't know where like, we have a conversation because we're friends and I'm like, oh, man, this girl needs like some help or some saving or like, she just needs like, somebody to talk to. Yeah, she don't want to be. Oh, dude, I saved them all. I saved them all for the time being. And I'm like, go fly, little bird. It's kind of like rescuing a bird that has like, broken wing and you're like, oh, cool, let me take care of you.
This Then it's like, all right, fly away and then throw them in the air and see what happens. Like it's catching, really. And if they run into the window, that's their fault. But yeah, because that happens you. Just got to tag them up and let them out into the world it. Was it was the best, some of the best massages I've ever. Gotten. You know, it's crazy to me. You said you've had it multiple times. Yeah, yeah, I'm a good talker. I don't know, I got, I got good
energy. I, I speak well to people and dude, actually talking about that. I actually, of course, I have a girlfriend now, so I can't really be like that anymore. But the crazy thing is because she'll ask me about times or like, I'll express the moment and I'm like, dude, it's, it's weird how sometimes I've dated women and I was, I'm a mama's boy, so I was raised by my mother. So I treat women respectfully.
And sometimes it might be in a sense, quote UN quote, like boyfriend energy, if you want to say. And but these girls have been treated like shit their entire lives. So anytime you give them a little bit, they're just like, Oh my gosh, he really likes me, you know, and either they want that and they pursue it or they don't and they kind of just ghost you or leave you alone, which is a good sign for me because it's like, cool, I don't have to waste my time or whatever.
The only problem is, even if I don't like you that way, I treat you naturally. Well, like if you're next to me, I'm going to treat you like my girl because I'm not going to just treat you like a piece of meat. You know, the problem is most of these women have only been treated like a piece of meat. So any times like, Oh my gosh, like they'll like jump on and latch on like a leash, a Leech. And I'm like, oh, oh, this is my fault. Oh, my bad, you know, because I'm not used to dating like
that. So yeah, it's it's kind of crazy how some people haven't really even been treated respectfully and. Those girls, those are the ones that they love you, especially when you have a girlfriend. Yeah, You ever notice that? Dude, actually I, I, I don't post about my girl 'cause Instagram's weird dude. Like people click their profile, try to follow them, talk shit or hit on them or whatever the case may be.
Like I just don't. And every once in awhile, like we went on 4th of July, I post a picture so my friends tag her and I'm like, oh sure, I don't care, whatever. But people will message and they're weird. But man, I remember I took her to Chicago to meet my mom, which is a huge thing for me and surprised I even did that, but took pictures, all that stuff. Literally girls that I used to date in Chicago messing me. Like who the fuck is that?
I was like, oh, this is my girl. Like when the fuck are you going to tell me you had a girl? I was like, I kind of just got her, you know, and just do they block me or start talking shit or message them and start talking shit And I'm like, damn, I was messing with the wrong woman, you know, or some really fun but very, very toxic woman. It's kind of crazy how that works out. Well, it's it's the caveat.
Like sometimes a very very fun woman are also the ones you can't date in the in the long term. Otherwise known as hot. Yeah, hot women. They're hot, but they're hot crazy women. You know, like the ones that would, like, trash your car. Like, and I, dude, I got a Land Rover at home. I keep that bitch in the garage on purpose and I'm afraid they're going to break my car or slash my tires or key in or do whatever. That's your purple one. Yeah, yeah, that's back in Chicago.
Yeah, sadly. Which dude? Some guy was a Jackass. Like I get out of my car and I'm like a block away and he's like, oh, is that your purple Rover? Yeah, no, I bet it was. And I'm like, what the fuck? You know, I was like, OK, we just, we're just going to talk shit. But no, yeah, it's, it's, it's very noticeable as you can tell with this. Fits. Yeah, we. I haven't had you here in a while, if you guys don't notice. Jose Shorty, Torres team Shorty the Legend.
Hi. So how have you been since the last time we got together? You had the epic trilogy fight. Which motherfucker? I thought I won, but it's just one of those things where regardless I I can make all the excuses like, oh, he was running, He was this or, you know, it was an Africa when an African fighter and African judges. I can have everything put against me, but I also didn't get to finish.
You know, as much as I want to talk shit because you have the animosity, especially right after a fight, you want to do certain things. Hell, even my brother almost got into a fight while I'm doing my in cage interview after the bow. He's like talking smack to my opponent and his team and I'm just like, dude, I'm fucking trying to do my interview stop. And I had to be like, hold on, let me stop my interview.
Stop these guys from fighting and I, you know, redid my interview, but it's it's one of those things, man, it's look at Mazzaro. Mazzaro is probably a prime example. And there's a page that always puts on like all these posts of fighters when then end their quotes and he's like, dude, I've been choked out, I've been knocked out. I've been doing all these
things, but I'm making a living. I'm pushing through and I'm not giving up. You know, I've had the judges robbed me. I've had fights that I thought I should have won or whatever the case may be, but no matter what, you got to keep on fighting, you know. So for me, as much as I'm upset that I thought I want to find it lost, especially in a trilogy, it is what it is, man. I'm able to fight another day. You know, hopefully fight news coming soon, because I'm still waiting for fight news.
That's why I'm in Vegas and just kind of go from there, man. You know, I'm now technically in a my first ever to fight losing skid because it's the same opponent, the trilogy fight. But the fact is it's motivation. You know, if you do the sport long enough, like everything's bound to happen. You know, I got cuts from the one of the fights for him. The first one I got slashed up and then I got my first in a sense, in my belief robbery, you know, so it's like and I've to
fight losing skid, you know. So it's like, you know what, man, let me push on through and see what happens next and hopefully, you know, for the better. But until then, got to keep on training. It was a it was a classic fight. That's. Called and and that's the thing, like worst is the worst. I want to be like Justin Gaichi or I want to be like Cerrone, where it's like, no matter what, if I want to lose, you want to watch me fight again. You know?
Like, man, Arturo Gotti wasn't the best fighter, but dude, every time you saw him fight, that guy was in a brawl. Right, he's in a war. Yeah, same thing with Diego Sanchez. Like he was never championed, but dude, he every time you fall you're like, it's going to be a wild rappy fight. You're going to be entertained. No matter what. And that's, that's, that's our sport. That's what we are.
We might not be comedians, we might not be actors or actresses, but we're entertainers and that's, that's our that's our job. And I would say that fits your fighting style perfectly. Well, purple hair, small guy, big head and you know, personality naturally I want to have fun and I'm a I'm a small little Roberto Duran with Pacquiao speed and hopefully triple G power. Like I want to have some fun inside the cage. The only problem is, at least in my last opponent, he's 6 feet
tall. It was literally the witch version of Israel to Sonia Calvin Gastelum. But three times, you know, So for me, when you have an opponent who is going to keep a distance and even at times having to, in a sense run to keep me away 'cause I'm trying to be a Leech on them, I get it, it sucks. But it also has to force me to change my fighting stuff because, you know, he's 6 feet tall, 5 foot 4, you know, that, that, that range advantage is freaking phenomenal.
Also, you look at Jon Jones versus Cormier. Cormier was an Olympic level wrestler trying to take down everybody. He barely ever took down Jon Jones on all their fights. You know, so it's, it changes your fighting style. So I'm hoping, you know, knock on wood again, that I get someone a little closer to my height that I can actually, you know, show my, my stand up skills and, and have a, a fun contest. Cause again, I don't mind getting dropped or knocked out.
Like obviously, again, hopefully that doesn't happen, but at least I knew I was in a war at that time compared to I'm chasing, I'm doing this, I'm only wrestling and dude, I want to be a Pacquiao fighter. I don't make it a boring fight and I'm just holding on to somebody. Do you think he's of UFC level talent? I think if he fights someone because I, I'm not a bantamweight as much as I feel that it's easier to make weight and I'm healthier for sure. I'm, I'm naturally a flyweight.
I'm a small guy and maybe one day that I would like to make my return to flyweight one day. Especially when you have Amira Bazi, who's #3 or #2 ranked in the UFC. And again, kudos to him, a sparring partner now that he's at the top ranked in the UFC. But I'm his only loss. So for me, it's like I can go with those guys, you know, Brandon Moreno, Pantoja, Mohammed Mokai, have mental Cape. All the other guys in the top five, like I've trained with all of them.
I know what I can do with them. I've had my wins, I've had my losses against them, whatever the case may be, but I know I can hold my own with them. The problem is I'm in a promotion where they're using my name to get to the UFC or Bellator, or at least a better known promotion. So for me and Cosi, I think it's a very good opponent.
But I think when he fights someone his height that can, you know, move his head a little bit more because I don't move my head for shit and get inside and and, you know, put on the pressure properly. I think it's more of a war. But he also fought a guy that was substantially shorter than him. And and again, the last one I thought I got robbed. Everything went well for him. But regardless, it was a tough fight. And I think up to par he will be able to beat some people.
I just don't believe that right now. He could be champion. But dude, he did his first camp in, was it Bali? His first camp and the first fight with me cut me up. So the second fight he didn't cut me but he made it a war and survived. Every single time I took him down he got up no problem. So I believe he'll do well. Look at Sean Sugar, Sean O'Malley. Not much of A jiu jitsu grappler but he's able to strike and bang. We'll see how he does against Rob.
It's literally the same type of matchup. That's the next title fight at 1:35, right? How do you think that goes Rob versus Sean O'Malley? I don't know and the reason why I say is because the later the fight goes mop, you know, it's a 5 round fight. He's him and I are stylistically very similar. It's we're built for that. But for Sugar, he he's he's able
to strike really, really well. And especially if you look at even just the, the training footage of of patchy versus Mirab, you know, sparring in the garage, like Patchy's not a striker like that, but he's hitting Mirab every once in a while. And it's like, you know, Sugar, Sean O'Malley, he's going to throw bombs and he keeps his distance very, very well. And he also uses length very well where he stays in position. He doesn't overextend and oh,
cool. Like he's going to be, I think what was the green haired guy's name that he fought where he just pieced them up for five rounds or no, for three rounds almost. And he never went out of out of pocket. He stayed in his distance, he stayed in his own, he moved around and he did well. I think he's going to do the same thing to Marab. Just can Marab take those shots? I honestly don't know. And I'm going to lean towards you, O'Malley.
But I'd love to see a small guy racing, you know, reign supreme. Man with with Marab's motor and his forward pressure, you really think he's not going to be able to take Sean down? I'm not saying he won't be able to take him down, but can he hold him down 'cause Marab again, isn't the best at pretty much anything. And I'm not at all like putting shame on him. Like he's a very good fighter, but he's been put in those positions.
Look at against Ricky Simone, like he's not the best of jiu jitsu, but he got stuck in the gate scene and eventually he just fights, dude. He just doesn't give up. And so literally you have to put him out. You know, sugar, Shawn does have jiu jitsu. He's been doing jiu jitsu competitions as well, so as long as keeping the distance and also, you know, being able to set a submissions, I think sugar just has the advantage. But Marab is easily the best at conditioning.
And I know from experience, like do I have tapped out Maraba a couple times? I'm like, OK, cool, but he just won't fucking stop. He's like, OK, let's go. And you're just like, damn, I kind of I already gave him my all and then now you're just on the floor getting beat up. You know, some Rob is a gas tank.
He just pushes, pushes, pushes. But if he can't get the the correct pressure and and keep his distance properly or for me like again the same example my last fight move his head, then I think he's going to get pieced up. And what is Shawn's power that special at 1:35? It's it's not that it's that special is that he's long. You know, look at Jon Jones. Jon Jones isn't a knockout artist, but when he can keep you at distance, dude, it sucks.
It's the same thing with, you know, sugar, Sean O'Malley. He's not a knockout artist. But when he stays at distance, Eddie Wineland, there's a couple other people he's knocked out where it's just once he's at his full length, if he gets his arm fully extended or his kicks fully extended. And he's also very awkward at his kicks. Dude, he can knock you out. But if you, I guess, rush him like Morab will do, that's a whole different thing.
But I think, you know, Sean O'Malley again, is good at keeping his distance and keeping his control. So between even like you brought up Morab when he is going against Patchy, what do you think that echelon is the top 130 fivers in the world right now between say Sugar, Sean, Patchy and Morab? Patchy, patchy. Easy because the few funny thing is so when Patchy was getting ready for Raffian's stats, Raffian's a good friend of mine and I was just like, well, I got to get ready for my fight.
My opponent 6 feet tall, Apache 6 feet tall. And I'm going Apache. And coincide, Bellator is there filming and the cameras are all in our face and we're having, you know, fun. And I've already spotted Apache 3-4 days already and we're having fun. And I don't know where he's like, hey, can you take a couple shots at me? I think Rafael is going to, you know, shoot on me. I was like, yeah, sure, why not? Their problem was I'm not much of A shooter.
I like more judo where I get to grapple and then I get to toss you or trip you, sweep you. But I'm like, God, let me shoot. I ended up just, he kept good distance control one day and I decided to take a super like predictable shot. The only problem it was also to his open side, the Curtis Blades, Derrick Lewis, where you shoot to your open side. There's the uppercut, the knee, the kick, stuff like that. He threw up his knee, the same one he knocked out Rafael SaaS
with. And all I remember was getting hit by the knee and then just on my butt. I don't remember the fall, like the fall or anything. I just remember getting hit and the being on my butt and when I hit the floor. I kind of did one of those like you ever push a toddler and he falls in his butt? Like I fell my butt and looked up. I was like, oh, I got dropped and I just kept on going and patchy is like, dude, you OK? I'm like, I'm fine, like good
knee. But then I look to my left and you just see the camera like staring straight at us. I'm like, hey man, do you mind telling your promotion not to put that on the the highlights, please, because I got my title fight coming up. Hachi is a phenomenal fighter and he doesn't hit hard, but he'll outwork you, especially on the ground. I think it was his last fight against the Russian Miguel Madoff.
Dude, he once he gets you in a position, if he wants to tap you out or break something, he will like Patchy is one of the most competitive guys I know. Like he's in a sense the Kobe Bryant of MMA. Like this guy wants to be in the gym, he wants to work. He'll be there before you, he'll be there after you. He's stretching, he's doing technique. Like he's very spiritual with his stuff. Like he needs the work and he has only his group of guys that he goes with.
And lucky enough I'm, you know, I guess good enough to be one of those. But dude, Patchy will. I think he would have a hard time with Sean O'Malley because of the length, but I think once he grabs him, dude, it, it's over. And look at Sergio Pettis. Sergio Pettis is a black belt too. Like I've rolled with Sergio. Sergio is good, man. He's a very good guy on the ground. But Patchy's just a whole different level. And I say that from experience as well.
And you don't think he would get caught in a situation like Algo did? I don't think so because Patchy doesn't shoot. That's the biggest difference between Algo and I've seen. I let me rephrase that. I haven't seen Algo and Patchy go but I know they go with each other and Patchy goes all the time. Like he he loves the high level stuff and I see Patchy tapping out welterweights like and just randomly rolling with guys. He doesn't care. Patchy.
He looks so big. Dude dude I have no clow he makes way and he doesn't water load like he just all right cool I'm cutting weight and just starts bringing his weight down fight week. I have no clue how he makes weight so I was. Talking to Kai Kamaka about it, he says he has zero legs. Like he just has no lower body. No legs, no butt, no legs, no quads. Which is also like the pro and con because I, you know, most of the guys I've sparred with one day in my, in my mind that I
believe I'm gonna fight. You know, that's just how I would love to fight Patch. I'd love to fight Sergio, all these guys. And like the whole Bellator Grand Prix when they had it, like I used to train with all those guys. So I'm like, I would love to fight any of them because I know they're tough guys. It's it's more of an honor thing than like, oh, I can be him or I've had good days, whatever. Patchy. His biggest weakness is late kicks.
And I remember I just started calf kicking him, calf kicking him. And there's some days he couldn't walk, but he again, like Kobe Bryant, this mother fucker learns from his mistakes. And now he started shin blocking or lifting his leg and started taking, you know, to keep me away. And I'm just like, damn, he's listening. Like damn, he's getting better and he's improving and he improves really, really fast.
And he starts countering that. So the stuff I did to him the very first few days we sparred, I can't do to him anymore or I have to set it up that much more. So he's he's easily, I think one of the best bantamweights and he should be. And it's not at all putting down Bellator PFL, but I would love to see him fight, you know, the top five guys and and the UFC just to be able to say this guy reigns supreme over all these promotions.
You know, Demetrius Johnson going to ONE FC, he beat everyone in the UFC until he finally lost that split decision, which I thought he won and then goes to ONE FC and and dominates over there. And just shows across the world. He's the best 120. Five, not just in the West, but in the east as well, you know, and that's, I think that's Patchy. You know, Patchy's you look at and I think Ufcs bantamweight division is stacked. It's phenomenal guys, But primarily they're all kind of
strikers. I believe. So at least besides Marab and Al Jermaine, like they're all pretty much strikers. So when you have patchy, who was a mixture of both and especially on the ground, like he's good on the feet, but he has those knees and it's it's scary. But when you go on the ground with them, dude, it's it's it's a very, very fearful thing. Like any time I train with people, I want to go with good people. Any time I turn Apache, I'm just kind of like, fuck, all right, I
got to work. Like I have to work hard because if not, I'm going to get tapped out. And it's funny because every day we do row, he gets me at least once once a day and no more than that, no less that he always gets me once. I'm like you mother fucker, God damn it, you know, like it could be the last 10 seconds and somehow he'll catch it. But patches he's of, I'm telling you, if if I had to put my money on somebody, it'd be patchy.
If there was a March Madness of MMA for the bandwidth division, for all the promotions, it'd be patchy. I I wouldn't have any doubt about it. That's exciting. The only the only flaw that I think patchy has in his and he's grown so much on it and I know from experience because ice trim horn toiletta is his mindset.
It can either work great for him, which he usually does, or just like most fighters, we have an ego, you know, and they can come back to bite us. When he fought Horn on Giletta, he was still very young, still very green when it comes to being on the back end of a fight. And he, I wouldn't say got pieced apart, but he got in a sense played with words like, oh, we're just, it's kind of like the boxer versus MMA fighter going to a boxing fight. You're going to lose his boxing match.
And that's what happened in that bout. But after that, people try to do the same thing. I know I did the same thing and I was fine. And then again, he started learning and learn how to swallow his ego. And I think that's the biggest thing for Patchy. It's once he learns how to swallow his ego and use it to his benefit, then then it's kind like in that Hornet cholera fight. Dude, he's a very, very dangerous guy. I would love to see that just for to find out really who's the
best in the world. I am, I'm telling you like there's almost. I've trained with majority of the high level guys at bantamweight as well. Like Patchy is easily the hardest and scariest guy to go. With because is there any other weight division where outside of the UFC there's a guy that could compete with the belt holder of the UFC? That one, I don't know. I mean, I guess one, you know, ONE has some high level guys Adriana Morris would have been good for.
But that's at bantamweight because again, their divisions over there for ONE FC is they're 10 lbs higher. So you'd like, for example, Jared Brooks is the strawweight champion. That's 125 over there. 135 is flyweight, so it goes up every 10 lbs. But I think Adriana Morris would do well in his prime.
Not anymore. If you look at some of the fighters that were released by the UFC doing really well or even struggling overseas, John Lennaker, you know, I think finally became champion but inevitably lost. Gerard Brooks, you know, finally became champion myself, a part of Brave demise. Johnson, a part of One FC.
Ali Baba was enough part of whatever Russian promotion at the time and then was on his way to be the flyweight champion for Brave, you know, so it's there's a lot of the guys that were released by the UFC that are not dominating other promotions when you would think it would be otherwise. What about have you been seeing anything that's happening with Elliot du Poria and Max Holloway? I just know that they're talking smack, but that's about it. Is that fight ever going to get booked?
I mean that that's supposed to be the next featherweight championship fight, right? That's the hard part is you have Volkenowski who's been, I think not just a dominant featherweight champion, but also a company man. So when he's bumping up and losing that lightweight, it's like, dude, he's still the champion. Yeah, cool he lost, but give him a rematch. Like he's done everything UFC is pretty much asked for, especially the last minute fight against Islam.
Like anyone 5 rounds at them for a last minute bout. Given sure, he got knocked out the next fight and maybe he might not be in his prime, but prove it. He's not his prime. Let him go out on his shield. He's done everything UFC has wanted. He's been the the company man, have him get knocked out or lose again to Elia Tempura and then make those other fights. Max Holloway will always be there. So he's he's the baddest motherfucker on the planet.
You know, just like he's always going to be there. Max could, you know, fight for the featherweight belt or bump back up to to 155 and have fun there. But I I believe the fight will happen, but I would love to see Volkanowski first. I just think, respectfully, that's that's not just earned, but deserved. Right. Yeah, I definitely respect that. It's just Max has been the number one contender for what, how long now it feels like. Sure, probably.
Three years almost now. Yeah, Max, Max has been the the gatekeeper, right? You know, sadly, you know, and I I don't see that. And again, in this book, sounds like he's beat everyone. Even when he was champion on his way up he beat everyone and then he fought Volkanowski. Well, you think about it those first I thought Max won the 1st. One I thought. I thought he won the 1st. I thought he won the second one even more convincingly. That's when he dropped them in. The first round, I know.
I thought he won the first one. I can't remember the second one, but I know the third one. He definitely lost that one, you know? So the fact was the fights were very, very good. Again, judges and I have obviously had that problem my last fight where they can go either way. But Volkanowski after that showed how dominant he was, just like Max Holloway. And when you have Max, like he's now one of the richest guys in
UFC, like he can just fight. He might not be the champion, but he has a belt, you know he can fight. What would be your old a year? He could fight Poirier again. I would love to see him. I would love to see him fight Poirier again for the baddest motherfucker. Like Poirier has nothing else to do. Like he's not going to get a title fight anytime soon. He's not going to bump up the 170 to get a title. He's not old, but he's also not young. Dude, you're it's the Nate Diaz Mazzaro.
Like you guys are so popular now you can just make fights. Like as long as you call out another one just as popular as you or you know, give or take, like just fight. Looking at Anthony Pettis, no offense to Pettis and I love him, but he's nowhere near what he used to be back in the day and him losing to a no name Avila. And again, no disrespect to Avila yesterday, but now you know who Avila is. You know he beat Pettis in a
boxing match. And that was probably one of Pettis highest paydays of his career. Exactly so and that's Pettis being super smart and using his name, using his name has a promotion APFC using his name and doing other things business wise. So this is the point where I think all of us fighters want to get to if we can't get to the belt or we already have the belt and then lost it, dude, use your name for other business
ventures. Cause at the end of the day, like we talked about our different careers where it's like once it's over, like it's probably over. So let's enjoy this as much as we can, but also it's not to just show how great I am, it's also to make as much money as possible before a career is over.
Like as much as I'd love to be champion and this and that, if you told me, hey, I'm going to make 10,000 to be champion, but I can make 200,000 to go fight some influencer in boxing, I'm going to go do that, you know, because I'm going to make more money. This I can still probably lose, you know, and it doesn't work on my way. Now I also lost 200. This is a more guarantee thing, you know, so make as much money as possible.
So I think that's what Poirier should do and I think him playing Max Holloway again, even though very, very tough fight, dude, just raise your stock. Why not? You know, and I kind of wonder that because of how I want to take it back a little bit, but that first and 2nd Holloway and Vulcanovsky fight, the third fight, how that looked right when he got dominated by Volk. Ever since, Max Holloway has
been crazy dominant, right? He knocked out Korean Zombie, knocked out Justin Gagey. It makes me almost think something was wrong going to that third fight. The hardest thing is, and I know now at least my trilogy is that we all have a bad day. Like my second fight with him, I was very egotistical again for you, you believe he won the 1st and second fight. Maybe Max thought the same thing and he was like alright, cool, I'm going to win this third one.
I'm just going to pick it up a little more and maybe it worked to his, his disadvantage. You know, for me, after my first fight, I'm like, it wasn't as hard as I thought. Let me go into the second one. I'm not going to train as hard. I'm not going to take it as seriously. He doesn't hit that hard, but I'm still eating shots and now I'm bleeding on this side. OK, Damn, I'm bleeding. Let's not panic. Oh, I'm bleeding on this side.
Oh, I can't see it all. I got retired from the fight, you know, So the hard thing is you don't know what his mindset is. But the fact, the fact, the fact of the matter is no matter what, you have a bad day in your office. I mean, you've been, no matter if it's work, training, whatever the case may be, like we all have a bad day and that could just be under the lights. Just happens you're in your underwear in front of thousands
of people. Or Derrick Lewis and your balls are hot and you make a lot of money off of it. So, you know, like it's, it's part of the process where that's the most exciting, but also saddest thing about our sport. We can have the best training camp in the world and then go on the the lights for five to 25 minutes and just not show up now. And it's it is 100%. And Max also taking off his thing in Joe Rogan podcast, like he talked about this top ten guys, top five guys, top three
guys champion. They're all the same. Yeah, some guys are maybe stronger, faster, better, more skillful, more talented, but it's all here. Like, dude, I know Jillian Robertson really well. She, you know, dominated Michelle Watterson, you know, and Michelle Watterson I believe for sure is way easily the more she's the better talented athlete, skillfully being born and all the way coming up and just I think even in the end of her career a better fighter. But Jillian Robertson showed the
opposite. She goes, cool, I'm more of a jiu jitsu girl wrestler. Cool. I can scrap here and there. But my mind said I as I'm going to do this, this, this, this, this. And she worked her ass off to get to that point, you know, like she I do, I'm telling you, like we used to play catch and just randomly themselves play basketball. She's easily one of the most least talented people I've ever
met. But inside the cage, they can do it. So I think it's just a mindset and it's it's 100% how you think about yourself when you get into that point. Want to talk a little bit about your podcast. So how did that start to come about? I talk a lot, people want to take advantage of it, and I'm here, he goes. It's one of those things where I've always wanted to do a podcast. My manager also manages Brendan Schaub and dude one he makes a fuck ton of money like doing
podcasts we get. So much hate in dude. No sense. Regardless, I don't care like I used to. Again, I used to talk to Tyron Woodley as well. I'm like, dude, no offense. This Before Kumar Woosman, I was like, no offense. Yeah, your fights are kind of, you know, boring to me. You know, he goes, I'm the champion, right? I was like, uh huh. He goes, I do. I got the belt. I was like, uh huh. He I was like, do do I get paid championship money? I was like, well, yeah, probably.
He goes, I don't give a fuck what you think. I'll, I'll, I'll take it in a little bit, but I don't care, dude. Brendan Schaub, I know no matter what people say, like, yeah, he wants, he's a entertainer, but no matter what, you're gonna watch it. Floyd Mayweather fighting, you're gonna watch him lose or you're gonna watch him win. Like no matter what, you're
gonna watch him fight. So for Brendan Schaub, being able to do all the things he's doing, comedy specials, all the different types of shows, no matter what, it's like he gets, dude. It's usually because the haters can't get to this point, and I'm one of them, Dude, I talk so much shit about him. It's phenomenal. But it's like, I should get paid for all the shit I talk about him. But he he's getting paid for it. There are people that get paid to talk shit about it seems
like. Somebody call me, but dude, he's he's doing it. So I can't talk any smack. It's like no matter what, at the end of the day, like I can criticize all the things, but I'm one opinion versus all the money he's making from all these people who actually really do enjoy them. So no matter what I think or what other other people think, all these other people are giving the money to do what he does best and look at them. So for me. Just to be clear, I love the content. So fuck yeah.
But now for me, man, like I speak well, I used to acting, modeling as a kid. Like I, I, I'm good on camera. I believe I'm well on camera. So I just want to have fun, you know, I commentate, I do all these random things. I'm always, you know, Co host or guests on people shows. So I had every guy who does a podcast for me.
I was like, hey, if it's a big platform, if you guys are looking for extras of about doing sideshows or whatever, like I'd love to be on it. I used to be on mmafighting.com show every Wednesday with Jose Young and just have fun and do whatever, interview fighters and just have some fun. If it works out and I get paid, amazing. If I don't, then let's see where it goes.
So for me talk to Luke Kelly from MMA Unhinged and they're like, yeah, we're actually looking to partner up with somebody, do another show that can talk more about fighting who was a fighter and just have some fun. And and me, I just we kind of do have a a system of a down type of show where it's like random bullshit, like fun, you know, crazy stuff. The real point back to random bullshit. And we like to just have fun and then have a good time. So we don't want to make this
like a like a job interview. We just want to talk, dude. And then let's get to the point and then let's have fun again. How? Long have you guys been doing the pod now? I think we're on episode 9. So we're slowly but surely getting there. There's about two episodes every week that we've been, you know, kind of putting together. We put out one a week. And you just as you know, sometimes you miss a week, stuff like that. We have stuff, you know, stored up. But you know, we're having fun.
We had Alex Pelizion not too long ago. So that was that was actually our last episode. So that was fun. And then we had Augie, which you know, pretty well on the show, which was like the best, worst interview possible because the Jackass decided to like drive somewhere in Missouri. He's like, oh, dude, I got this podcast. He does it and it's an hour. So he's doing it for like 20 minutes.
And then just, it starts this coincidentally, it starts storming outside like thunderstorming and but he's outside because it was too loud inside the house. And we're like, OK, then his Internet kept on fucking up because of the storm. And then he gets in a car and just drive and I'm like, I'm like, dude, like you didn't set out like an hour yo of your day for this. And I'm like, where you going? He goes, oh, Texas Roadhouse.
I was like, what the fuck? And then he has people in the car who are talking who don't give a fuck that he's on this interview, you know, and they're just talking and saying whatever. We're just like, what are these guys talking about? They're just, you know, just doing whatever hooligan stuff. And then they get to Texas Roadhouse. He's like, I'm going to go inside and eat a fat steak. So I got to go. I'm just like, alright, OK, my bad, my bad. Do you have a good rest of the day?
So it was just, it was one of those like, who the fuck do you think you are? Like moments, you know? But no, man, it was, it was definitely a fun experience. Luke Kelly was like this. That was the most random interview I've ever done. I was like, yeah, I bet we went on an adventure, you know? So it was, it was different, but that's, I mean, you've had interviews where you just don't know where the hell it's gonna go. Yeah, we just start. We we started talking about
happy endings. That was the entrance of this episode. We talked about it like before we jumped on, right, Yeah. I've been hoping if you guys produce podcasts now and. I was asking, I swear I thought you were going to say I was hoping a few guys are happy endings. Like dude, you got to go to this spot. This is the spot, dude. No one knows about it yet. You've never had a Tuggy yet never had a parlor? Never. No, no, that's crazy, dude. I've I've heard so many stories.
I've heard. And also I've heard so many stories of how guys find out they like their butt hole played with. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Now we're going to take A twist. Yeah, yeah. Like, I know I've heard stories. I'm not going to say fighters, but it's all, it's all fighters that basically it's all fighters where they're like, yeah, dude, you know, girls, give me a, you know, Tuggy, whatever. And they're like, oh, you why don't you come? Whatever.
And they just stick a finger in the ass and they come and they're like, oh, I guess I'll look a finger in my ass or whatever. I'm just like can't do it. Yeah, it's not for me. Nope. You. Nope. I'm like you ever had your oil checked? Duh, accidentally I I had so I'm a wrestler, so sadly that's bound to happen. There is, there is this. It's a prerequisite. Yeah. This was, I just want to say it's a very raunchy show. So we just said that at the beginning.
But when I was in high school, I was wrestling and there was a kid from a school called Hinsdale S who was a deaf kid. And so when the whistle blew, you had to tap him to go, hey, the round's over. But the ref needed to know that most of the time the refs are in a tournament. They're just going, you know, so they're not really paying attention. Stuff slips their mind and I'm wrestling this kid a regional, so very important like match to
get to sectionals in that state. And I'm like, oh, I've beaten this kid twice already. Whatever I got him. I'm not worried about it. And I'm winning by like five or six points. I was like, you know what, last 10 seconds? Let me just shoot, you know, so I shot in and I'm, you know, here and I'm stalling on purpose. You know, I'm just like, oh, 10 seconds. I'm about to win this match and this kids trying to get behind me.
But to stop the the takedown, he's like trying to do the reach around and then hopefully turn around. The only problem is this fucking middle finger right right here went right in and me, he went here, grabbed me. And I remember you ever see like Greco or freestyle, one of the things when you get taken down, you're supposed to go flat because they're trying to pick you up and throw you in wrestling. You want to be on all fours. But for me he goes, I went, dude, I was like, I'm done.
You beat me, take a nap. No, but I fucking he went and I went like literally the highest pitch I can think of and I just like sprawled out like those Greco freestyle like I got so confused and I was just like here what the fuck did this is where it gets fucked up. I got so confused. I got so confused. I was like I don't know how to feel. The the fucked up part was he's
deaf. The round just ended so he went 5 seconds passed by this kids fingers in my ass for like 5 seconds and I'm like they're like I'm just like freaking out and I'm like clenching so hard. I'm pretty sure your ass is clenched right now but dude I'm clenching so hard. The round just ended. Like, you hear this kid's finger is still my ass trying to get around, you know, like, he doesn't fucking know because he's deaf. You got to tap him to stop. And the ref is like, all right,
the round's over. The round's over. And I'm like, he's deaf, He's deaf. And the lady is like, oh, yeah. And he's like, yeah, I'm just like just laying there violated, like the lady's raising my hand while I'm still laying down and shit. Like it was bad. It was. And that's what my butthole virginity got taken away that day. Good times did. You like it? Oh God no, God no, can never do it. Have you ever had it in bed or?
You know, what's funny is I had AI had a ex-girlfriend that years ago messed around with and one of my favorite things with her was, you know, getting head. So she's like playing with my balls doing different stuff. And this is already like years later. And so I'm like, OK, you're going to obviously learn some stuff years later, whatever, you know, you can do stuff different. And she slowly starts like reaching down and I remember like feeling it. And I'm just like, I appreciate
the enthusiasm. Thank you so much. But no, that's not for me. Thank you though. I appreciate it. We'll just do the regular, do the regular and I'm good and I'm happy, you know, do you regular, you know, hot to and I'm I'm good. That's it, That's it. I miss her. I wonder how she's doing. No. What do you think about that whole situation? Can you believe that blew up that big? The hawk to a girl. Dude, we're dumb.
The yes, yes, I can believe it. How many, how many memes have come out of not just that, but I mean of really, really dumb stuff before that? I think this is actually probably the most like you ever look at some you go, I can see why that got popular. You got a pretty blonde girl that's young that goes hot tour on this like streets podcast. It's like, yeah, no, I can see why they got popular.
With the country accent, yeah. You know, white girl, pretty blonde Huck Tour and then just walked away like like nothing happened. Like dude, that's like that's like a mic drop like that was fucking awesome. You know, like that one makes sense. The other ones are usually like dumb or, you know, people doing dumb shit and they just kind of they make fun of them, but they somehow make money at the end of it where it's like, all right, it worked out well with, you know, for them.
But this one, you know, she dude, she's doing well. She's selling hats and gear and you know. On the other hand, I didn't think about it till right now. There's probably a bunch of kids out there right now going hot to a. Yeah, but that does that's also, I mean, you're a parent, you know, that's also the parents job. You know, it's like, dude, you got your kids on on TikTok or, or whatever social media at five years old, they're going to follow whatever trend they see.
You know, like if you put them on Blue, watch Blue's Clues or Teletubbies or whatever show for our generation, they're going to follow that stuff. But when you have parents, you know, lend their kids, you know, just grab the phone, run away, dude. You don't know what they look through, you know, And that's, that's the hardest part. See, I think, I think that's a huge point where the parent obviously has so much accountability there.
I think the only thing that changes it now is there's so many other kids out there now that their parents don't really care or not really taking that. I mean, I'm I'm the same way because my parents, at least at the time, given we didn't have social media like that, but my parents didn't care. Like I didn't have a curfew. I came home whenever I could pretty much have done whatever I wanted for the most part. But I was also naturally responsible in my own little
way. But my parents would say little things, but like, just don't bring the cops home. Don't do this, don't do that. That was actually my #1 rules. Don't bring the cops home, but don't do certain things and you're fine and because of these certain guidelines kept me away from all this other stuff. So when it comes to like TikTok stuff, especially TikTok because every kid is on it, they want to be popular. They want to do this Instagram
same way. I mean, how many times for you, for example, you're just on your Instagram just chilling there scrolling, you know, and people are walking around behind you. But when you open up your phone, because Instagram now has post that people of people, you aren't falling. They're more like suggestive people that just come up on your regular feed and dude, some random only fans grow or whatever the case may be. And you're just like titties on
your screen. But people were walking around behind you were kids and you're just like, Oh my God. Like it's happened a lot, at least to me, you know, so. There was a time where it was happening a bunch, but I feel like it slowed down a little bit recently, just a little bit. No, I, I get it. But that's, you know, that's also. Embarrassing, right? Yeah, you know, just like, huh, Titty.
Yeah, good stuff, huh? You know, so you just have fun with it. But you know that I think that's the the hardest thing given I don't have kids. So I'm I'm obviously speaking from a general perspective, but the fact is it's like you wanna be their parent.
Your kids going hawk too. It's like, cool if they seen it, then you gotta handle it in some sort of way To where, Yeah, but like, you know, it's again, that's a whole like I'm stepping in a thin line here, but you have to figure out a different way to handle it. But it's it's crazy how now, especially this generation where we can speak our mind and then we're in trouble, right? You know, even if it is just a joke and we complete clearly state it's a joke and and then
we're in trouble. This is random. They look at Dave Chappelle and Katt Williams, dude, they can't get cancelled because they don't give a fuck. They're just like, all right, let's have fun with it. You know, Katt Williams, he's throwing everyone under the bus. He doesn't care. And Dave Chappelle has no deal with like Chase or these acting roles. He's like, I don't care. Like I already left my show for
$50 million. I'm making way more money now, but I'm doing my own thing compared to and again, no dis like Kevin Hart, but Kevin Hart can't do that. He's on that fine line where he's partnered with Chase, doing every single mover role offered to him. He's on all these different things to where even little kids look up to him, you know, So if he does anything bad, it might be, you know, I think he got banned from the Oscars or for doing the Oscars once or whatever, Grammy Award.
Like his old like. Yeah, a 10 year old tweet, yeah, of saying something gay. It's like, dude, that's how we talked to people 10 years ago. We called people random slurs like that's just what it was like. It wasn't. Do you remember that joke from his stand up? It was like his son was doing something. He's like, hey, stop that, that shit gay. Yeah, when the the corduroy they were rubbing. Up against each other, dude.
My my dad, the reason why I start wrestling, I was a kid because all my friends and my mom always makes fun of me. I was like, no, this is daddy's fault. It just came off to me Is my mom was like, oh, hey, maybe you should do wrestling because everyone for football is going to wrestling after the season. Why don't you do it? You're talented. Why not? I'm like, let me ask Dad, let me see if he likes it because he
likes combative sports. And he's like, is that the one where they wear the tights and, you know, the, the underwear and they just grab each other? I was like, yeah, he was no, that shit's for faggots. Like that's what it was back in the day. It wasn't to be like, Oh no, you're going to be gay. He's like, yeah, that shit's for faggots. I don't want to see that. I'm like, OK. And then I was a little parakeet repeating it to people. I was like, that's gay, that's
gay, that's gay. And then I ended up being a gay wrestler. So there it goes, yo. So that I. Came when somebody put their finger in my ass. Yeah, and then I came in my ass and I was like, wow, wow, my dad was right, huh? You know, but the the fact that it's like the whole South Park wrestlers episode. Have you seen that?
Where like they're all in singlets and they're trying to do wrestling practice and the coach is like, are you going to get into referee's position, get an all fours and this kid Tommy, come here, you know, just put him behind him and he's a grab here and he's like, what the what the fuck? What are you doing? He goes on. I was wrestling position. He goes on. That's gay. He and yeah, it's it's it's pretty again. I'm surprised South Park
honestly hasn't been cancelled. But that's but that's also the reason is when you have when you have someone who's naturally an asshole, be an asshole. Oh, that's just him. When you have a nice guy finally one day standing up for himself and be an asshole, what are you doing? You're different. You've changed. You're a bad guy. Yeah, we should cancel you. It's also like the people that are like virtue signaling and like trying to be known as the good person or like trying to
benefit from their good acts. A lot of those people, when they finally get brought to light that they do some raunchy or stuff or some bad stuff, then they get set on fire for it. Well, that's, that's, I mean, obviously, sadly, that's life where people were they're insecure or whatever issue, whether it's themselves, whether it's the stuff they do, they're afraid to get judged by. Dude, just be yourself.
Like no matter what, I think I'm a huge fan of logic where he's like, dude, no matter what, there's going to be someone who does what you do or likes what you like and whatever the case may be, you know, so like, I'm not a druggie, but dude, I know a lot of people in Vegas who do drugs, you know, like that's just you go hang out with them. You know, I'm not going to do drugs You Hey, you can offer it to me, but if I do it, awesome. If I don't, I'm good, you know, so it's, it's effective.
Dude, just be yourself and and no matter what, especially as a fighters, there's going to be someone who dislikes you. There's going to be someone who dislikes something about you or has something to say the negative to say about you. That's natural. Dude, just do you like if what's
what's the quote? It's like birds are always going to fly over your head, but if you let it build a head in your nest, like that's that's your problem, you know, or nest in your head, like that's that's your problem. So it's the fact is you got to deal with your own stuff and you got to become true yourself. Cool, I like this stuff for the guys. I'm not a fan of the finger of the butt, but do you like finger in the butt? You do you. You know I'm not going to do it.
So that's it. Do you think Alex Paddock can become a three weight champion in the UFC? With Jon Jones as the heavyweight champion. Now, if it's somebody else, sure, but with Jon Jones, no, I think especially in boxing, you know, you look at all these multiple weight class champions, some of them don't bump up because there's a certain someone at the table in front of them, you know, holding the belt.
If they decide screw it, I'm going to just bump up and fight whoever and still win, dude, good for you. But Roy Jones Junior bumping up the heavyweight and winning stylistically, which is a very good matchup. You know, you look at Canelo when he was trying to bump up and then he fought Bevo, like Bevo beat the fuck out of him. That's a whole different type of fight. And he's like, yeah, no, I'm not going to bump back up.
He talks about fighting Bevo again, but and it's been offered, but he hasn't fought them for a reason because he's like, yeah, I don't want to lose again. Let me fight these other guys, keep on building my career. Once Bevo bumps up or does something else, then I'll bump up and try to fight that belt, you know, because Bevo's not there, you know. So I think Alex Piero could beat
some of these guys. Tom Aspinall I think he could beat just because Tom wants to stand and bang and have a, you know, more of a stand up type of fight, you know, you know, he's from the UK. Good old fisty cuffs then. Cool, awesome. But if it's Jon Jones or Curtis Blaze now, fuck that. They're smart. They're going to take him down. So what do you think would be the smart move for Alex next to just stay at light heavyweight
and continue to dominate AT2O5? Convinced Dana White to make the baddest motherfucker belt, but at a, you know, heavyweight class. You know, I think honestly for him pumping up, he could do it, but it's like Jon Jones, like you do, you can do it, but you also got really fat. Like you also got out of shape. You also got different out of
shape. You know, like you're in shape, but you're not in shape because you got this beer belly, but you look awkward and you fought a guy in serial gain who has no wrestling stylistically was the perfect matchup for you. If you fought a guy like Curtis Blades, that's a really hard fight because Curtis is known to drop people, to knock people out
and also really, really wrestle. You know, you look at Daniel Cormier versus Stipe, like stylistically it was a good fight until Stipe figured him out and knew he didn't block the body and then he got beat up and knocked out. But Daniel Cormier wasn't trying to fight every single guy at the heavyweight division. He was trying to fight a certain people, win the fan and get the fuck out of there. You know, it just wasn't safe for him.
So I think Alex is good at like heavyweight and we'll see where it goes from there. But I can tell you this and just like the Brendan Schaub thing, as much as I want to hate on Alex and like, dude, you have no wrestling or you don't have this. He's knocking people out like he's still doing the job and he's entertaining as fuck because he doesn't speak. He's like that one black guy that does this all the time and doesn't speak. Like good for him, you know? So Alex's he's he's a spectacle
because it was a third fight. He's fighting for a title, wins, defends, all that stuff, bumps up, wins, defends like dude, good for him. You know, it's, it's especially being older and later in your career and being able to do that now. Good for you. I mean, especially like I'm thinking about it even at two O 5, Jon Jones and his prime, at two O 5 Alex Pieta, who wins that fight? Jon Jones and anything, anything with again, there's matchups, him fighting, Alex fighting
Israel, Asania, great matchup. It literally was a kickboxing fight all over again. Whatever happened in Glory was happening in there and it happened in that first fight. But when you have him fighting an actual wrestler that's a or grappler, like that's a whole different, you know, type of fight for him. He's not used to that. I don't think he's ever really fought a true grappler. Like there's no Khabib at, you know, light heavyweight.
And given there's a lot more at the heavyweight division like Curtis Blades, again, shout out to him because I'm super excited for his next fight. But in general, I think 1 John Jones will never make light heavyweight again, that's for sure. Because he gained so much weight is ridiculous. And plus he did like a whole year of just trying to focus on gaining weight properly. There's no way he's going to make light heavyweight again.
That's. The thing, though, didn't look like he gained that weight very properly. Kind of yes and no. Like he, he's kind of like, he's kind of like that bodybuilder offseason. Like that's his body type right now where he's, he's big. But you, you, you balked a lot, you know, and you forgot the cutting process. What did he came out at 2:50 was
it? And that's and that's the thing, because you can't make the weight doesn't mean you should again, against serial gain great match for him no matter what. I think even if he was at 2:20, I think he would have won the fight. But the fact was or the fact is that like he gained so much muscle in the process.
Plus having all that fat, like you start trying to lose that weight, unless you do it properly and like super scientifically, you're going to put that fat into muscle and muscle is also body weight as well. That's going to add pounds. So I don't see him going back down to light heavyweight, given it wasn't an easy process for him, but it also it was hard, but not the hardest.
But now trying to make it again, like there, what's the point to fight these really, really more athletic fighters that are going to move into all that stuff. Now let me fight these big heavyweights that might stand in front of me and let me take them down. What's the interesting thing about Polaton to me is on Fight Night he was 2:30. What was it, 236 or something? He's a dude.
He's a, he's a big guy. Like I'm trying to think I gain about 20 lbs naturally, you know, and that's at a flyweight slash bantamweight. So 20 lbs one 35155 Fight Night. That's that's a big difference. You have light heavyweight dude just times it by two realistically or even by maybe 30 lbs. Like you gain 30 lbs that cut that fast. That's honestly very, very easy to do. So I mean he could come in with no cut 240. Yeah, I don't. I don't see why not. Again, like he can just walk in.
The good thing for him is he wouldn't have to cut weight. The only bad thing is now he has to fight Jon Jones. And Jon, I think would stand in bang with him for a little bit until he does get hit and he's like, yeah, now fuck this, I'm taking you down. So I don't think it'd be as entertaining as what people say it would be. That's interesting. Like, I would still love to see Jon Jones versus Nganu. Like, that for sure stylistically is a good match up because Nganu's strong as shit.
Like, yeah, you might be all maybe a serial game versus, you know, Nganu is kind of very similar. But in Ghana, dude, if you get hit once, like you're getting hurt. And Francis, with the torn ACL, took down and held down. Gone. No, no problem. Yeah, but it's a little bit of a wrestler versus a non wrestler. Like even that little bit of knowledge held, you know, held him down.
But when you have Jon Jones, who is a, you know, national junior college, All American and champion, you know, take you down, you're probably going to stay down. Or if you take him down, he's going to get up no problem and they'll reverse you. Plus, Jon Jones has jiu jitsu. He's not. He's tapped about people, you know, I think he tapped out Vitor Belfort, you know, so he's, he put Lyoto Machida to sleep, you know, so he has his fair share of submissions, but he's just also super long.
So I think him versus Jon Jones and I, I stopped talking about it when it was still very popular. I think Jon Jones would just dominate, especially with the wrestling. Do you think Jon Jones is the greatest of all time? I'm biased because I love Dimitri Johnson and I think the way DJ handled everyone and now still handling people in one FC like it's he's a phenomenal, phenomenal athlete. Like who does a flying arm bar, you know, an arm bar suplex or excuse me, suplex to an arm bar
like no one does that. Ray Borg is a damn good fighter. You know, so he tapped out Kyoji, I believe with the one second left in the fifth round. And given Kyoji was younger, but still, Kyoji hits hard, man. He's super, super fast, especially when he was younger. So all these guys that DJ beat, yeah, they might not be as known as some of the guys that Jon Jones's beat, Loretta, Machida, stuff like that. But they also weren't reputable because UFC didn't make them
reputable. This is why the flyweights were slowly being cut. If they're in ONE FC like like Adriana Morris is now, like do people know them out there? They're superstars here. Pantoja didn't get, I think Pantoja had 20. No, he had 18,000 followers before he won the belt. Think about that. Pantoja already had 11 fights in UFC because UFC doesn't promote the small guys. And it's it's it's just it's part of the process. DJ promoted himself and that's why he got so popular. But it's crazy.
I mean, even think about The Ultimate Fighter this season, I haven't thought about it more than once, maybe. Yeah, and it was literally, I think the only time they had a season. Isn't it going on right now? Well. Look at The Ultimate Fighter when it was the flyweights. It was literally a season. The Champions, you know, and that was, I think, a popular one. But given I was watching it, so
it's different. I was also training with Tim Elliott, you know, Eric Shelton and a bunch of the other guys from the show, Joseph Benavidez, stuff like that. But after that, like, no one really promoted it. Once Henry Cejudo won, like he defended it and it just bumped up. So what else did we have? Like, yeah, I think the Brandon Moreno Figueredo fight was great. And it was, it's kind of like Manny Pacquiao versus Marquez. Yeah, too much of a good thing so slowly turned into a bad thing.
Like there is such a thing as that. So they had four fights for a reason, because that's all the flyweights were able to be marketable for. Look at Pantoja now. His last title defense was against the number 10 guy when you had Muhammad Mokayev, who was clearly ready and asking for and he was #3 Why don't you give it to Muhammad Mokayev? Oh, 'cause his last fight he fought Alex Perez and won by decision. But Steve, I can't remember his name.
No, just disrespect to him is he had a knockout, you know, against another flyaway. And that's why because they can promote that one knockout and have him fight for the title because they want to make the whole Trump. They want to make the whole flight division great again. Like I get it. But I'm a, I'm a big ranking system and that's why I'm excited to see Man O Cape versus Mohammed Wilkie of whoever wins 100% should get the title.
But until then, I, I don't know if they're going to do a whole flyweight demise again, business wise, it makes sense if they did, cuz I mean, now they're having main events. I mean, they had Pantoja's the main event in Brazil.
I believe they had another main event sometime before that in the apex, but Alex Perez's main event twice, once against Japanese guy and I can't remember the one before that or against Mataosh Nikolao. But you know, it's, is it, I guess crowd drawing, you know, and that's why they've been at the apex or smaller events. You know, I I haven't seen a main event here in the States besides Brandon Moreno and Figueredo. Talking about smaller events,
the complete opposite. Probably the UF CS biggest event ever coming up at the sphere. Are you going to be a part of that event? I will be I'm going to be cornering La Z boy. So Luis Ronaldo Rodriguez finally got his fight offer against all day. I can't remember his last name, so I apologize. But all day of Odie Osborne. Yeah, there you go. Odie Osborne was going to be a firefighter. Was it the the Jamaican sensation, you know, as a phenomenal fighter? I believe they sparred before.
I don't I'm not going to give any insight on that because that's their own little thing. But just to be able to be in the corner and also be able to experience the spirit. Like, I mean, we're we're Vegas locals now, like we just going around here. It's like, dude, that spear is shining every single minute of the day. I can just imagine now the inside, you know, so I'm excited to see how it plays out, but also kind of ready to be like, how is how is this going to work?
You know, because I don't know how the seats are, you know, stationed at the spear. I don't know if it's, you know, the UFC is going to be, you know, the cage is going to be on one side, the cage is going to be in the middle or again, every arena is very, very different. But dude, to be able to have the 1st event especially for what's the event called Nocha something I can't remember. You see, Nocha?
Yeah, you'll see, Nocha. So you know, to have all these Mexican fighters on it, like I was part of UFC Mexico for LA Z Boy, dude, that kid gained half a million followers from one event from one fight, his debut. And and it's also like me hating on it a little bit. This is 100% I'm hating. I hate on one of my fighters. Technically, dude, this guy had one fight and he was the second fight of the night. So he was the UFC Fight Pass prelim or ESP plus prelim?
Let the people know how that fight went though. So it, it was, it was like for him, it's a storybook like Disney type of you ever see the Cubs versus the, you know, against Cleveland when they finally won the World Series, it was kind of like that, that last game where it was like, I'm winning, no, you're winning, I'm winning. And it's just like that. It was back and forth.
And so for lazy boy, he had this four month camp to cut down the flyway because UFC told him like, Hey, you're caught bantamweight, but we want you to fly away. We're not going to take you any other weight class. And he hasn't cut weight to that point in like 3 years. So it's like, all right, I guess we're doing it. Dude. He did a crazy camps where even I was talking to the coaches like dude, I I got my Kate weight cutting trauma. So I'm like, I don't think he's
going to make weight. Like I'm nervous for him. But the drive that he had, once you get to a certain point, and I don't know if you've ever cut weight, but once you get to a certain point, like you want to give up, you think of every horrible situation. The anxiety goes through the roof. That never happened to him. Like he just kept pushing and pushing and pushing. People could eat in front of him. I actually gained weight when he was cutting weight.
That fucker. He's that type of weight cut that makes you eat everything he wants. So I eat everything 'cause we're in Mexico. But he just, dude, he was so motivated. Like he's like song again, all right, let's go. And he was just no hesitation, dude. We bitch about a lot of things as fighters. He's just like, I got to do it, don't I?
All right, let's go. And he would just get in there and do it. But the fight we get out there, obviously he's nervous, but he's wearing a sombrero walking out UFC, Mexico, his country, everyone, you know, just going at it and like, I'm filming behind them while walking out. And he's just like just dude, he's having a blast. Like he, it's like a kid going to Disney World, like he's
having a blast. And he gets in there and you can tell he's timid and he he fights like I do or like you kind of have to take a good shot or two to wake up and be like, Oh yeah, I'm gonna fight. And he's also very Mexican. So he's like, come on, I wanna like, I wanna see what the the best you have. And the Ukrainian was a good fighter, you know, and lazy was very timid with the strikes here and they're very nervous. The lights are on.
UFC Mexico is huge and you have everyone chaining Mexico, you know. So like it's there. There was a fight in the crowd during the fights. Like that's how crazy in Mexico is. And and the security didn't even stop it. Security is like, yeah, no, fucked up. But he goes in there and I'm like, dude, you got to put your left hand up, Put your left hand up. And I don't know where he didn't put his left hand up and got a drop of the right hand and a good like clean flash, like
knocked down. And he gets dropped, gets taken down and he's scrambling back and forth and like, oh, shit. Like he might lose his fight. And it's not because this guy's better than him. It's just because it's in his head. We get him to the corner after the first round and we kind of like put it out. And I'm like, dude, like you're way better than this. You hear all the people like they're screaming your name.
They're screaming Mexico, all this stuff like you used to sell jello on the streets, like he used to walk around in the middle of the aisles, you know, of in traffic and just try to sell jello and and different, you know, condiments, whatever you can buy, you know, bread or whatever the case may be. And that was his living, you know, and then for him to be able to be housed and and fight and train and eventually be signed up and manage and be taking care of them, getting
this notice. Dude, he comes back in the second round. He was like, dude, like punch like you have to be active and he starts throwing haymakers, starts throwing that kicks from hell. Like it was phenomenal. And eventually the guy falls. I wouldn't I don't know if he got dropped, but he falls. Lazy takes him down, scrambles and takes his back. And you can tell the guy was already kind of looking for a way out because Lazy was hitting him hard.
He was like, I'd rather stand on the ground than possibly even block these shots, but they still hurt. It was kind of kind of, it's kind of like Canelo when the guy has his hands up and Canelo's like punching his shoulders to slowly get his arm to drop because the guy's shoulders like swelling up. That's what Lazy was doing. And he was hitting him as hard as he possibly could.
And he just, you know, took the guys back, put in the hooks and just put in the room naked choke and just start arching. And literally I think of the last two seconds of the second round, he got the finish. And dude, Mexico, like that's how it felt. Like it wasn't the crowd. It was like all in Mexico's. Yeah. The crazy thing is lazy, such a humble kid and such a people's person. Like he's he's the hood kid.
Like he's the typical like Mexican that you think of it like the hard work or stuff like that. And he's in the press conference and he got really, really popular out of his answers. Like he didn't grow up with a father. He told the the press conference guy he's like, fuck off. Don't ask about my dad. Like, you know, he's talking shit to the guy and he's just having fun. And you know, he's talking about his dreams. And one guy's like, So what are
you gonna do now? Like, what do you want to do? He's like, dude, I had a four month training camp, want is to eat some tacos. So please, let's get this over with. I just want to go eat some tacos. And he got popular off of it. Now literally every single place after start offering him tacos and the restaurants like dude, commuter to our place.
Like this kid, he gained a half million followers from one fight and now he's fighting on UFC Nocha, which you win or lose is going to, I think boost his his ego and and boost his his name so much more. And I think it's phenomenal, especially the way that he fights. It's going to it's going to be a. Show he's he's a typical Mexican fighter like. Again, with the way I talked about Patchu where he has the
ego, like he wants to fight. He want like if he gets knocked out, he's like, you're the better man. I fucked up, you know? Like he wants to fight. He doesn't want to wrestle, he doesn't want to grapple, he doesn't want to tap you. He wants to like put you to sleep with his hands. That's, I'm telling you, this kid works hard and actually he comes back 'cause he had a baby not too long ago. I believe his, I believe his baby's two months old. He went to Veracruz to see his
family again. And then he's going to get right back to camp. He's actually supposed to be here today, hopefully, and just get back to camp, dude. And we're sitting at the upper house. There's eight people in a house together and we're all fighters. It's, it's like a dorm, It's like The Ultimate Fighter house. It's fucking hilarious because every once in awhile we'll argue
it's great. But like he's ready to start training and I'm excited for him to be in he's, he's 2425 years old living his dreams like he created it and lived his dreams and then now he's just pushing through. The hardest part in this happened to me was trying to keep him motivated on two senses. One, because you made weight once doesn't mean it's going to get easier because you're you've blown up back again.
We got to slowly bring you back down and we got to do it respectfully because I know you can make weight and maybe we can wait the last few weeks or a month out and start working, but you're just going to make it a lot harder. You can make it, but let's let's do it like homework, do it progressively, you know, do a little bit. And so it's due on Friday. And then two is once you get to the UFC, that doesn't mean you're going to be there
forever. So you're fighting not just to be in the UFC now, it's to stay in the UFC. You finally created a goal on most fighters and especially myself. I did this where I fight and I'm like, oh, I'm a UFC fighter, I'm in the UFC. Yes, I finally do UFC. And then you're there and you're just like, Oh yeah, I got to fight. I forgot about that. I got to fight to keep my money. I got to fight to keep my contract or whatever the case may be. So for him is you got to fight
and have little goals. Don't be like are cool in UFC be champion. No, no, no, dude, let's make top 15, beat 2-3 people. Let's get top 15, beat 2-3 people. Let's make top ten. Like you're 2425, like you have time. Don't think about the title because you're going to give yourself anxiety trying to get there. Try to get as fast as possible. No, let's get to the top 15. Beat whoever O day next. Cool. Beat him. Maybe you're top 15. All right, let's fight whoever's next.
Get the top 12, top ten and keep on going. And it must be so nice to have multiple. People on his team like you with that experience, especially you that's just so recently been through it. I I hate on this kid so much. Because upper management and this is, you know, shout out to them is they have, if you look at NFL players, they have a marketing guy, they have a social media guy, they have a nutritionist, they have, you know, straight and conditioning coach.
They have everything. You know, for this one person, like we drove, if we drive anywhere, there's three cars with us because they're ready to die for lazy. Like they're they're working for him, no one else. And then maybe there's a little help here and there, but they're there for him. The whole camp where in Mexico was for him and then whatever fighters there, but they were these set of 10 people were for lazy. These set of 10 people were for Daniels of Uber and then vice
versa. You know, all these people. Me, I've been doing everything so long giving. I'm very independent. I'm happy about it. But dude, I'm watching his fight in his camp and I'm like, damn, I barely did paths my whole career. Damn, I didn't have a nutritionist so I got to the UFC. Damn, I didn't like, I'm like, but it's not hating as in like, fuck, I wish I had that. I'm just like, dude, good for him.
This kid has like a chance to do all these things that I didn't get to do. Like, it's kind of like that Big Brother, for example, my brother, like I love him to death, but he didn't get to do all the things I got to. And he's like my biggest fan cuz it's like, I want you to do more cuz I guess I helped you, you know? Like that's the closest he's going to get to that for me. It's the same with lazy. Like, dude, you have another fight and you'll see, fuck yeah, but you got to do this.
This is why, you know, or at least these are my extreme recommendations of why you got to do this because I wish I would have done it. Hopefully you don't say make the same mistakes and you follow your own little path. You divert whatever way, but take my advice with a grain of salt and go from there. But lazy dude, he has his whole fucking team. Like he comes to the states, you know, I think his, you know, upper management takes care of his flight. He's in a house here for free.
You know, they have a nutritionist here for him. I know now he's in UFC. They often nutrition and and you know, sports recovery and stuff like that. But even before that, he's being taken care of and it's like he's being treated like a professional athlete for being a kid on the streets. Like I grew up poor, but it was
like middle class poor. This kid grew up poor like, Oh my gosh, you know, so that for him to go from nothing to be in this treated like a professional athlete as I believe you should be like good for him. And now, dude, he goes random story, tangent, lazy, so popular. Now, I don't know if you've ever heard stories about like the police in Mexico, but especially if you're a tourist and they know you're a tourist, like, oh, me, no, Spico.
Like you're you're a tourist. They're going to take money from you. The cops will like, oh, we're going to give you this ticket unless you give us so many pesos or whatever, you know, like give me $100 and I'll let you go. You know, and and as an American, you're like, fuck, you know, like I kind of have no choice. Yeah, I'm in a whole different country. They tried to do that to Lazy one day. They pulled him over and like sort of get out of the car,
stuff like that. And I don't know where the cops are, like, and they want to talk to each other, like. And they come back and there's like, hey, we won't give you a ticket unless. And Lazy is like, he's like, unless you punch my partner in the face, you know, can you take a picture with him? Do we do congratulations to your fight? Can we take a picture together? No. Yeah, You're free to go. I don't care. You're good. And everyone in the car is filming this whole interaction.
They're like, what the fuck? You know, cuz the cops, they do that. But they, that's how popular lazy is that He's just avoiding trouble. And they're just pulling people over to pull people over. Like he didn't do any bad. But, you know, they, they want money and they're like, dude, you're lazy, boy. Oh, yeah. Tacos. Yeah, yeah. OK. And then they just let him go and it's like, Oh yeah, dude, he's a Taco guy, you know? So it's, it's it's that's how
popular this kid has gotten. And that's out of one fight. Just imagine he wins his next one at the spear. What what event could be bigger right now than the spear? Every single fight in there if you put a show on. God, that's going to be everything for your career. If and like I don't know where he's going to be labeled.
In in this or put on this card. But for I believe he should be somewhere in the middle of the card where he's now on ESPN, not on ESPN Plus, excuse me, where he's on regular cable. People can watch it and now hopefully get to know who he is here in the states, Mexico and every Latin country loves him. He speaks Spanish. Whatever. He everyone loves him. But now we need Americans love
him. Once America's on your side, like you're going to be huge and do we've been yelling we got to get you to speak English, like even the littlest thing, like something, you know, like it would just boost the stock so much. You can say I love you, right? Yeah, sometimes. It all depends.
Like it? All depends on the day, 'cause there's, there's like we'll go to the Pi and we'll run and I and given I'm not completely fluent in Spanish, you know, but I know enough to like translate for him, figure stuff out and we're all good. And I remember one day I'm running a trendy and he's talking to some guy who's Arabic. So he speaks Arabic, you know, and or he's Arab and he speaks Arabic and, but they're both kind of trying to talk in English.
And Lazy's like, oh, how, how old are you, brother? Yeah. And it's just, you know, very broken And, but he doesn't really know how to, like, listen too. Well, depends on the words, you know. And again, some people have accents. It's like listening to an Irish guy or a Scottish talk. You're like, dude, I know you're speaking English, but holy shit. You know, But anyways, I'm running and I take off my headphones just to see if Lazy
needs help. And Lazy looks at me after the conversation's over and I'm just like, you good. And he's just like, dude, I had a full conversation in English. I did it. God, he's just so happy. So it's very, very simple stuff like everyone, you know, like AB CS and how are you? I'm good, how are you? But that's pretty much about it right now, but slowly and some
swear words. But it's a little bit surely, you know, he he gets to a man and I'm, you know, we're, you know, not trying to think too far ahead, but we got to get him some type of speech in English after his, you know, like the Russians when they try to do it after their fights. Yeah, but the way of lazy when he jumps on the Mike and he. Has he has just that bright energy out of him? Dude, it's and I'm not trying to.
Be like stereotypical towards like my people and Latinos in general, but Mexicans I think are the funniest Latinos out of all of them because they're so charismatic. Like my coach Mike, we call him autistic cause 'cause like he's just like, dude, I'm pretty sure you're autistic. Like the way you act sometimes. But he just, they're so like their expressions and, and their laugh and the way they speak like, like for example, is the, the post speech. He's like tacos. Yeah, yeah.
Has like their version of the same way. Or it's like, man, I just want tacos, you know? And he's just like, I want tacos. And this dad, like he's just so up there and you're like, it's like Chris Tucker in rush hour movies. Like he's that, you know, and he's just, he makes the mood, he makes the movie, you know. So I think in general, Mexicans are like that. They're so fun. If you watch any Mexican show, there's always the clown, there's always some guy talking smack.
And also our skin is super, super thick when it comes to that. We literally base our whole society on talking shit to each other. That's just like I thought you meant like literally like an like an. Autonomy thing. Oh that too. But like we can. Take a shot. But that too, like, do we lay? Like if there's a fat kid growing up, his name isn't whatever his name is. His name is Gordo. Yeah, His name is Gordo or Gordito or whatever, like or hey, you're Flacco. That's it.
You'll never hear it down. You can lose weight. You can be in shape like yourself. And 10 years later, 20 years later, what's up, Gordo? How you doing? And you're just like fuck you. Like I lost his weight already. Like Nope, people don't forget. Like that's just what it is. Before I get to get out of here, when is your? Next flight? I don't know, sadly. I thought I was going to.
Fight August 3rd in Colombia. The hard part with brave is they partner with a lot of Co promotions there or because they travel so much to different countries. Sometimes politically there might be things there that might not be safe enough or just things don't work out well where an event has to be cancelled so or postponed. So right now my event is postponed. I don't have an opponent, I don't have an event date. They said maybe sometime in September.
That's also why I'm here in Vegas and I just want to fight and you know, make a payday and hopefully, like we talked about possibly doing a podcast on myself or you us together and just having fun, like I'm trying to live my life also while training. And also fun fact, I'll give it to you is I might in December cut back down to flyweight because I want to be able to lazy.
Honestly, as much I love to hate on him, I hate on him in a good way is that he inspired me to cut back down because that fucker weighs as much as I do. So I'm like, damn it, if you can make the way that I can make the way fuck. It just takes getting to that dark place. I do, I have so much trauma with cutting away it's. Ridiculous. Like it's, I remember actually when I fought Alex Perez, that was my first loss.
I was so mentally broken from the weight cutting, all the other stuff that was going on behind the scenes that I just, I went in the cage and I'm like, I don't even care. I just want to go home. And that was like my trauma on weight cutting. And years later I started doing it myself and I'm like, oh, I can make the weight, I'm fine. And I started getting hurt like my ligament started tearing.
Both my knees started getting torn in different areas and and I'm getting surgeries or just I fall and I can't catch myself there as I usually would when I was younger. So if you weight cut improperly, your body is going to start to, you know, fuck up on you. Now, because of being a part of Lazy's team and having some of his team members help me like Mike, his coach, dude, it it. I feel a lot more comfortable and safe to do it. I still don't want to do it, but
I feel a lot more accustomed. Be like, OK man, if Lazy can do it, then I can do it. I don't care if he's 10 years younger or whatever the case may be. I know if he can do it, I can do it and that's my mindset. Would you like to end the back in the UFC one day?
It's it's not that I'd like. To end the back in the UFC, I mean, when I was younger, naturally that's all you think of. I think because now that I'm older than you might be able to understand, especially since you have kids, it's like, I just want to make as much money as possible to be able to feed my my family, provide for people. I don't have that, but I also provide for a lot of people back at home. So for me, I want to be able to
make as much money as possible. But one of the ways to make money, not promote myself really well is through a platform that could boast you. Brave is great and that's awesome. And again, not putting any shade
on them, but they're overseas. You know, for you to watch my fight, you have to watch it. My last fight was in Mauritius, Africa. One, no one knows what the hell Mauritius is next to Madagascar. And then two, my fight here was at like 10 in the morning, you know, so it's like, are you going to wake up at 10 in the morning on a Saturday to watch my fights possibly on YouTube or The Zone or whatever streaming platform? So it gets difficult.
Plus, as an American, you don't know what Brave is. Some people don't even know what Bellator is or one FC, you know. So they kind of give that backhand a compliment like, oh cool, you're pro fighters. So when are you going to fight in UFC? And it's like what? Like dude, Ilian supported us from Brave, you know, Mohammed Mokaev and all the the Kozma Jamaaev and Ikram who just fought Whitaker. Like they're all high level
guys. They just don't have the name yet until they get to this platform. So for me, I'd like to fight the guys with the names just because, for example, no one knows my last opponent and this is not putting shade on him and coasting. The Bella at the time was seven and two, and now I believe 8:00 and 2:00. But he beats me, he uses my name, I beat him, no one cares. So there's not much of A benefit for me besides the extra W on my record.
So for me, if I beat Amir Abbazi again, hey, you beat the #3 ranked in the UFC. Oh, I beat Pantoja dude. Now you're the champion in the UFC. Everyone knows that, you know. So I think as a platform, I'd like to be able to contend myself, you know, be a contender against the top level guys. You know, if I win or lose, like cool, I I fought these guys. Ray Borg, even though he got, you know, suplex on armbar, like dude, you fought Demetri Johnson. That's fucking awesome.
You know, like I'd rather I'd be, that'd be an honorable loss. I'm like, fuck, that sucks, but it's by him, you know, compared to a No name for me. I'd love to be back in the UFC and fight those guys. Then also, there's so much popularity when it comes to it that I can just help build my brand so much more and then be the next Brendan Schaub and be hated on people and make millions of dollars, you know, So do whatever and have a wonderful family in a big
mansion. All kinds of cars, however that works. Is the hard? Life, you know the hard. Life so yeah, I don't know I'm that's I would love to fight in UFC, but that's another reason why I'm trying to drop back down the flyweight is maybe just maybe there's another opportunity and you know hopefully I I feel also immensely more stable to where I was when I was trying to get to UFC of I was trying to do so many things. I was hurting myself and I was also in the process of getting engaged.
My dad was very unhealthy all these other little things and I I again there was that like mid 20s where I'm like I don't know what the fuck's happening in life right now and so I'm kind of creating a self sabotage and to where I think if the same situation happened now you if I had to do last minute wake up like I'm a lot more mentally stable and prepared to go cool. I've been through it once I did it and that wasn't a very shitty
experience. I feel I'm a lot more mentally prepared knowledgeable with the team and all these things that I can do a lot more productively and be a lot more healthy and mentally stable when I finally do get inside the cage. So for me I I want to fight August September and slowly go back down the flyway. And also win the flyweight, you know, vacant championship of brave and again, these are my plans. I'm put them out there cuz
manifesting but. But and then after that, you know, if I defend it, keep on going and I that's my next and last goal for Brave. If I can regain the bantamweight title, awesome. But right now it's this bantamweight fight and then slowly back down to fly away and see if my body can do it and just kind of go from there.
If the UFC calls again, then hopefully I get a proper training camp because I actually answered it outside and had a nine day notice and 20 day notice in a in a 2 month span. So I didn't have time to cut weight. Jared Brooks. I literally was like, oh, cool, I got to fight shit. I got to cut 26 lbs in nine days and then 28 lbs is against Alex President 20 days after just cutting those 26. So it's difficult. So for me, I would love to get an actual camp.
Give me a full month, give me a month and a half and then hopefully go from there. So we'll see. You know, it's, it's as much as I'd like to think about the future COVID, you never know, shit could happen again or whatever the case may be. I just wonder World War three, which is fucking super close right now.
But for me, I just want to go this fight, see what happens from there, Because I'm pretty sure you've had the same thing where you've had plans and dude, shit just comes out of nowhere and just hits the fan and you're like, OK, cool, I got to figure this out. Well, I guess I'm not going this way anymore. Trees in the middle of the road.
I got to go the other way. Still trying to make to the same destination, but now I got to take different routes and it might take a little longer than expected. So these are my plans, but especially my last two fights that was kept on, you know, fucking being diverted. So we just see where things go and and, you know, just try, try my best and try our best family wise to to smile going forward and just go from there. Last thing before you plug
everything. So you would do talk about plug, you would. Do a celebrity boxing. Match dude. Oh, did I? I don't know if I told you about. That So Misfits had an event in Houston and I flew down because my friend chef, you know, Corey Hall was cooking for one of the fighters and he's like, dude, we got a mansion like I got a room for you if you want to come by. Just obviously pay your way and you can stay in the place. Give me a couple dollars to for
some food and we're good. I'm like, dude, I appreciate because I get you a ticket. So happened killer bee Nguyen ended up being there. So I ended up not being in a corner, but being there for weigh insurance and stuff like that like oh shit, you're here. Fuck yeah, I get to support you. Like dude, you're you're like, she's dope. She's awesome. So I go down and I was like, man, dude, I would love the fight and influencer like who
cares? And I was fucking around making videos, talking to the promoter as well. I was like, dude, I'll fight all the way down from like 1:30 to 180. Like I don't give a fuck. I weigh about 160 naturally. So I'm like, I don't care. I'll fight everyone. And he's like, yeah, sure, cool, whatever. And I was like, this is my record. I do. I just did my medical test. If anybody backs out, like I'm ready to step in. Whoever. Hey, who are you telling this to?
The the promoter, The. Owner of the MAMS. Yeah, not Taylor. OK, Yeah, the guy with cowboy hat and glasses. Everywhere he goes. And he's like, yeah, shot at the mams, Yeah. And he's like, yeah, like very nationalizing. OK, cool. Whatever, you know, like another guy, like trying to give him a paid, you know, a business card. And one fight ended up backing out. Like it just so happened the guy's medicals didn't get
accepted. And so I was like, this is my moment, like it's my fucking time to shine. Like I got my gloves, I got like, I'm ready. You know, I just fought 2 weeks beforehand beforehand. So I'm healthy, I'm in shape, I have all my medicals done. But Texas sucks. And because you need, if you have all these medical tests, you need their, their sheets of paper, like their Texas medical forms.
So it could be the same form. It just needs to say Texas on it. And because I didn't have that in like the two or three days that you need to have it in before they're like, sorry, you can't fight, but I'm like, I'm fucking ready to fight. I don't care. You let's go like I'm ready to crap, But it was it was cool, but weird at the same time, because it's influencer of that. It's not boxers, you know, so you're watching and you're just like, dude, I can fuck up everybody.
You know, I really do believe I'm a good boxer. So I'm just like, these guys suck. You know, I'm like kind of like saying everything to my teeth. But it's you start to realize the press conference that it's a show like dude, it's they had a guy named OJ and shout out to OJ coincided with the same name guy named OJ. They're like, so OJ, what do you believe about your opponent? What do you believe you're going to do to him?
And he goes grabs his mic and gives it to his friend who's like a Don King look alike with the chains, everything this generation Don King and just starts talking shit. He's like the the angry translator for Obama and Kim Kim Peele like, oh, I think I'm going to kill him. OJ is going to do what he did the same thing to that white lady this day. I'm I'm just looking. I'm like, oh, shit, like this guy, whatever he was getting
paid. He should have given got paid double like he was the show of the whole press conference. So it's it's just a spectacle, man. Like it's just fun and games and it's it's cool like and plus it's influencers like I love the fighter, Jake Paul or Logan Paul. I don't care how much bigger they are. Me, I'll punch everybody. What about a Power Ranger? If if I could again. Rest in peace. If I could fight Jay's David Frank, I I would have loved to. Rest in peace, that man.
But him, hell, the Black Ranger, every. I'll fight everybody. I don't care. We, we know, Jason. We know. A Power Ranger you might be able to fight. We've been working and get into a fight with misfits. Oh, which was that one? Which was that? Kanalu Moya, He's a. He's a blue Ranger on Netflix. Is the the new power? Rangers. Yeah. Is that the what was it? The Power Rangers Forever one? I have no idea what Dino Fury or something? Oh, Dino. OK, OK. This is like the new, new, new
new. New like oh dude, I'll fuck him he's. 20. So he's Dino something I'll be the. Old like. Mighty Morphin. There you go. Be perfect. I have my white Ranger outfit back in my house. I'll put it on, dude. We can do everything. It's it's it's actually cool when you see martial artists doing martial art, acting based rules compared to like these quick cuts and like, yeah, you
know, like it's just not cool. But that's why it was a huge fan of Tommy Oliver, J State Frank 'cause he actually did martial arts and fought, so actually fought MMA, which is. Not a lot of people new. Which is also funny because he did MMA when he was older. And he he won his first fight in like 34 seconds. He choked someone out, but the way he got taken down was like a really hard double like to where
he got slammed. And so right after he tapped his guy out, he gets up and he's like, oh, my back. Oh, fuck. And we're like all of us as kids watching were like, Oh, damn, we're old now. He's grown up. Shit like Jason's old or Tommy Oliver's old though. So it, it is a crazy thing, man. But that also that guy used to jump out of planes and he has, he actually has, I think so has the Guinness World Book world book record for chopping the most boards in midair while
skydiving. I believe that 12 before he had to like put on his parachute. That's such a random world record. Yeah, I remember the one from a. Robin Big where a big black ends up eating like 6 powdered doughnut sugar or powdered sugar doughnuts without licking his lips. I wanted to do that forever, or like back in the day, the cinnamon challenge and all. This stuff, I was dying and shit, so stupid. That was the worst era. It's it's it's. Gotten worse, but. But dude this these info.
I mean, look at and. I know. We're trying to get off, but look at Nate Diaz, Mazzaro yesterday. Like it's two super popular guys who are now in a sense kind of technically influencers now. Like again, there's still fighters, but nowhere near the prime. You know that and you're still watching them because they have a name and they can, you know, fight. Still not saying they fight great, but then also not putting shame on them. But they're obviously not in their prime.
So I'm trying to make that as clear as possible. But before then you have the brothers. Was it Ryan Garcia's brother versus another guy? I can't remember, or a mini Vargas, Vargas junior, you know, who's the son of a a multiple time world champ? You know, so it's like, and that was, you know, fight, you know, like these are the guys that are not going to be WBOWBA champions, but they're damn well known because their influencers naked fight, you know, looks like Ryan's not going to be a
WBO. Champion either anymore what's? See that's dude that pisses me off because it's like. Back in the day, especially 70s, eighties, 90s, look at Tyson. Tyson was talking about eating kids and raping people and all this other like really fucked up stuff, especially after prison. Wait, how much money is he making? Yeah, No, no, no, let's bring him in compared to Ryan Garcia. Now he says a slur. Like dudes, people say slurs all the time. Who cares?
But people got offended so much so that they literally banned him from ever fighting in this promotion or in this title challenger series. Like it. That's that's such a shitty thing to where our, and again, I, I know I'm not politically correct with this, but it's like, whatever happened to the old phrase of like sticks and stones can break our bones, but words may never hurt me.
Like I literally heard the opposite from somebody's like 6 and stones may break my bones, but words will definitely hurt me. I was like, where the fuck did you hear that? And they're like, yeah, that's what they taught us at school. Like that's horrible. Like that's horrible because again, like, that's all we do suck shit. So yeah, it's, it's everyone's too easily offended and it's, it's crazy. Like if something bothers you, man, swallow your pride and just
kind of go from there, man. This whole situation though, it seems like they might be. I hate to sound like a conspiracy theorist, but like they're coming for him, right? Because even like the the drug sample, it looks like it came from a tainted supplement. Well, it it it said it was that he. Was positive and then he was negative and then he was positive again. Like how does that, you know, so like it was kind of going three ways and the guy resigned who oh, like, I guess does the
tests. He's like, I don't know, I'm I'm getting out of here because I feel like I'm in trouble. And then he still somehow turns out positive. And it was just, it was weird. So, you know, for Ryan and I mean multiple people, I'm a I'm a huge Kanye fan, you know, so the whole conspiracies of Kanye Illuminati and all this other stuff, it's like, man, if you don't do what people tell you, eventually stuff comes for you. So at least when you get to a
certain point. So that's the hard part about speaking your mind when you get to a certain levels, you can't. So I don't know. I'm not at that level. So I can talk as much shit as I want. But until then, you know, I I it's it's it's a very weird thing. I'm fine talking talking shit down here. I don't we're. Good. We need to get up there so. You keep talking shit. About Brendan. Schaub Yeah, fuck that guy. So I'm. OK, so I can call him right now but.
But the. Fact is it's it's that's again, the whole political correct thing is like, yeah, if you're going out of your way to make someone feel bad, OK, you're an asshole like you deserve to get it, you know ever bring trying to bring violence yeah, but if you're. Just like man, I just don't. Like this hell, I don't like fingering my butt. And some people are like, what? You homophobic? You don't like that shit?
I was like, no, I'm not homophobic, I just don't like it. But you're going to say I don't like black people? Yeah, it's like I don't. My girlfriend's black I barely like. Her, you know, it's like it's just start talking shit, you know, But the fact is it's like, dude, there's going to be things I don't like. I don't have to follow your page. I'm not you, you know, and vice versa. Obviously. Again, if I'm going on my way to put you down, that's a whole
different thing. But if I'm, if you ask me a question, I answer realistically as a general statement, I don't like this or I don't like whatever the case may be, then OK, like let me be me, you be you. I was raised the way I was raised probably. And we all need to better ourselves in, in many aspects, but that's it. Like don't make me believe like I'm some people are Republican, some people are Democrat because I'm Democrat or you're Republican or vice versa.
Like I don't need to put that on you, you know, So it's that's the hard part. I'm not political, so I don't really care for either or I just believe in the hopefully the better person, which life politics sucks. So it doesn't matter. Are you voting? I'm not. Too sure. When is that? November. Have you ever voted? I have voted and I was in. College and I voted OH. Actually. Oh, so this is actually a really funny story.
So at the time Bernie Sanders is running for president and there was Hillary, Trump, all that stuff. And my coach is fucking extreme Republican, like Trump all day, every day. But this is also in a very Mexican neighborhood where at the time he just started talking about. Well, again, Trump brings up good points, but doesn't say in the right way. Again, I, I relate to him with Kanye, like Kanye says the real stuff. But wow, dude, you could have
said it way better. You know, like you said that way too aggressively and offensively, you know, So it's like, I know what you're trying to say, but I've really had to break this down instead of you just saying it correctly. Where anyways, he's saying like, all, all Mexicans are coming over, you know, they're drug dealers or rapists, they're bad
people, stuff like that. I'm in a Mexican neighborhood and my coach owns a gym in a Mexican neighborhood and he's like, yeah, Trump this, Trump that where again, propaganda, fake news, whatever the case may be. We only look at the bad stuff. So we only see the bad stuff. We don't see the positive that maybe Trump is doing or Biden, whoever the case may be. So we're like, dude, fuck Trump, you know, and we started messing around. One of our kids was just about turning 18.
And my coach is like, oh, that's awesome. So Shorty, who are you going to vote for? I'm in college. Bernie Sanders is big on representing college students and, you know, taking away debt and all that stuff. I'm like, dude, I'm going to vote for Bernie Sanders. He's doing this. He goes, I don't like it, but I get it. Cool. Like, and we talked about it and
it was cool. He's like, God, go, go and vote for Bernie Sanders. He just wants to get, you know, some information out of you out of nowhere. I was like, but Adrian, he's about to turn 18 and guess who he's voting for? He goes, oh, that's awesome. Who's he voting for? I was like, oh, dude, he's voting for Hillary Clinton. And oh, my fucking God, If you tell that to a Trump supporter, it just turns the whole of the way horns come out. Like he, my coach turned evil.
He's like, what the fuck? We just started practice and our practices are two hours, the code, you know, the kids. Like, yeah, I voted for Hillary. Yeah, like he's fucking around. And dude, our coach sat us down and had like, just like a lecture with us for two hours. And you know, 20 minutes in, I'm
like, oh, this is fucking hilarious. 40 to an hour in, I'm like, I'm so sorry, I'm so sorry to everybody, you know and like he, he lectured us for like 2 hours about Hillary Clinton, how should be in jail, how she should be in jail and all this stuff. There's like the emails and fucked up shit and I'm just kind of like, I'm so sorry. It was just a joke, you know, But yeah, so it's, it's, but
it's also a crazy thing. Again, like, I think if you're going to explain yourself, like when people were I, I know you've seen videos on TikTok or Instagram where people were like, man, I can't believe Trump is saying this. And then, yo, people were like, oh, So what He's saying he's like, oh, where, where, where do I start? And they're like, OK, well, to start somewhere. He's like, we know that one time. And then people don't have facts.
It's like, dude, people are just following social media trends, you know? So whether you're voting for Trump, Biden, whoever the fuck replaces Biden, 'cause this dude's gonna fucking not make it. And all these other people, like dude, have just just be education, you know, like, look some stuff up, Yeah, You know, be educational. Don't just like I like him, he's more popular or he's funny or she's whatever. Like let's be logical and figure some or make some decisions for
your own yourself. You know what? I mean, like there's some people that just pick something because someone else said that thing. Kim Peele actually has a skit about that. Look it up. It's like. Kim Peele, social media fan and basically like this person only sides with the most popular. That's it. Like, oh, like so always makes fun of somebody who is different and then finally gets called down. He's like, So what do you like?
He's like, and doesn't know what to say because he doesn't really have an opinion. He just follows everything else because it's easier. So that's why I say like, you can like your certain things or not like certain things. Let's actually have some reasoning behind it. Don't just say because of this or because it pisses someone else off. No, What about you? Yeah, Let's hear yourself out and then kind of go from there. So yeah, this, this whole thing is going to be crazy and we'll
see what happens. So it's going to be wild. World War three. Let's go. Yeah, it's. Not talking about likes and follows. Where can everybody? Find and like all of your content Jose Shorty Torres on Instagram is. My biggest thing I always tell people, man, especially on Sunday, I have Sunday question day. Ask me anything, I'm more than
happy again. Like when we talk about this shit, no, I'll probably cancel for like 20 things we talked about on this show or hate it on or something, you know, like lazy boy's probably gonna punch me. I don't know, you know, but people with finger in the butt, they're gonna be offended. So the whole thing is like, dude, ask me questions. I'm more than happy to to answer like I am who I am and that's it. Don't judge me for me and I won't judge you for you.
Like ask me anything vulnerable stuff as well, because I'm more than happy to talk about vulnerability. We talked about our father's deaths than the last one and just random stuff. So that and then also through every single weekday of the week, I put out a mental health
post on different topics. So I'll find three to four different posts from multiple different people, popular people, especially popular people, all different topics, you know, deaf relationships, being a champion, the mindset, nervousness, whatever you can think of, you know, So I just tried to put out because I've had my mental struggles as well about depression and stuff like that. So that's why we say like, I'm going to reply to you.
I might not know when, but I look at every single message request. So if you follow me, not whatever, like message me, hit me up Jose Shorty towards an Instagram. And if I can help, I will. If I can't, then I honestly can. That's why I say my team is we can, we will. Together we are Team Shorty, the one and only Jose Shorty Torres. Still, friends show. Episode 90. See you guys next time.
