Episode description

Have you been curious about the terms “deconstruction” and/or “evangelical”? What do these things mean and why are people talking about them?

On today’s episode of the StephUp Podcast, I welcome special guest, Tim Whitaker from the New Evangelicals, a group that is “centered on Jesus, driven by our stories and committed to pushing the church forward together.”

Deconstruction can mean different things for different people.

“One of our core values as New Evangelicals  is that we really don’t want to dehumanize other people, even people that we really, strongly, vehemently disagree with.”

Tim and I discuss CRT, right/left politics, church abuse, different interpretations of the Bible, and can we really know what is true?

“In our society, we are such an either/or society. Either you are a Christian or you are an atheist. Either you are an evangelical or you are a heretic. What a lot of us are saying is actually that is not healthy at all. There is really a wide spectrum and evangelical is simply one room in Christian thought."
