Around 49 A.D. The Roman Emporer Claudius expelled all Jews from Rome. After five years of exile, Jewish Christians returned to find a flourishing Gentile church. The merging of these two culturally diverse congregations posed a significant problem. Paul, hoping to make Rome a staging point to reach Western Europe, takes up his pen to forge together a divided church. His letter is the most extended and insightful unfolding of God's Kingdom culture that the church had yet to experience.
