And as usual for more information on anything that I've talked about, head over to StartingStrength.com and check out the right hand side of the homepage. Alright, ready Ripp? I'm ready. Okay, we are live. We are live. You people can call getting lying. Not yet. Not yet. Now we're live. We're live now. Now we're live. Now these people can call and get lying. Right? Yes.

Alright, do so please. We're anxious to talk to you because what are we, what the hell else are we going to do for an hour now? Yeah, the phone number is 1-855-490-0125. Only three people in the queue right now. So if you call right now, you'll get to talk to the Mark Ripeto. No, look, I insist on being referred to as the science. Good. Yeah. I mean, look, right? Yeah, apparently you could just make shit up and make the entire country follow the...

Stand six feet apart. The things that you just made up. Goddamn. Could you believe that little obnoxious, gold brick, Yankee, Coxucker, Anthony Fauci? I absolutely sit in there. I absolutely can't. And so can you because you read the real Dr. Fauci, right? But it's everybody else that just fucking went along. He's the science. He's the science. He's the science. Yeah. I remember like Greta Thunberg or Thunberg or Harvitt, the little bitch pronounces her name.

It was the science. Follow the science of the suit of science of glory. I remember watching our local government having if they're going to do closures and everything like that. And what's Dr. Was it? It was Dr. Allis Serginan Town. What was his name? I remember the director of the health department, that obese woman, that they pull out every once in a while. Just being a straight bitch to everybody. No, I remember the Serginan Town getting in front of the city council and he started crying.

Yes. Because everybody, all the businesses need to shut down and I care about life in my life. And my town. And so because I care about our town, you need to shut everybody down and destroy all these businesses. Oh, by the way, I should still be able to practice. Yeah, because he is the science. He is the science. Right? Trust the experts. I don't mind. Trust the experts. Man, I'll tell you this little episode past three years. And doctors. Have I said this before doctors go to trade school?

They don't go to medical school. They go to trade school. And medical school functions exactly like electrical school or plumbing school or air conditioning school. It teaches them a trade. It trains them to perform a job. It does not teach them how to think because they can't do that. The thing is is electricians and plumbers are actually confident. They're confident. If they're not confident, they're not. If they're not competent, house burns down or you know bad things occur.

But you run into an incompetent doctor and he tells you some fantastically idiotic bullshit in the room. And you get up and leave. You still are supposed to pay him. Oh, it's just absolutely amazing. Doctor Fauci. And even if you want to believe in this, even if you want to believe his bullshit about, well, you know, it was it was the best we had at the time and blah blah blah.

This shit. If you because there are people who will believe that and want to listen to that shit. But then all you got to look at is the kickbacks and royalties. Does that not tell you the entire situation? These people are salesman for Pfizer. That's all that's their primary function is to sell pharmaceuticals for pharmaceutical manufacturers. And let's also not forget about Fauci is he is responsible for COVID-19. He was pushing gain of function.

And he was caught red handed and nothing was done to him. Nothing was done to him. Everybody knows what happened at this point. And that fucker is still walking around loose. And if he he's walking around on Long Island loose somewhere right now. It's just amazing. If he wants to argue that it's just common practice, which it very well might be, which is fucked up anyway. But but still if there's a just standard ethics would tell you that if there's an emergency youth authorization,

you shouldn't be allowed to get any fucking royalties. In other words, if you know that's a very good point. If the government is going to force the industry basically to ram through authorization, worry would not otherwise have done so. Then why do they still get to make money on the damn thing? Yeah, it seems to me like any ethical person would would just bypass that shit. But no.

No, no, no, no, just hoping it would never come out. It's just absolutely amazing. The medical services industry is what it is. It's not the healthcare industry. That's fiction. It's the medical services industry and they've made well our friend Ed Dowd told us that interesting fact when we talk to him on the podcast a while back. The most profitable product in the history of Western civilization has been the Pfizer vaccine. Now that's that's a fascinating thing, isn't it?

All right, now I don't watch television. All right, but I am aware of the fact from having been somewhere drinking a beer or something like that where television has been on. I am aware of the fact that probably half of the advertising at any given on any given day on television is for pharmaceutical products. In other words, they're advertising diseases.

That you are supposed to ask your doctor for medicine to control. They've fixed this up. They fixed it up so that you people because you have no basic science education. You will do what you're told by the television. Do what the television tells you to do. It doesn't have anything to do is having science education. I think that I know by science education, I mean learning how to think in scientific terms at this point that's exclusive to non scientific education.

Well, no, I mean a biology degree, a geology degree, physics major, chemistry major, those people know how to think mathematically. And if you stop thinking of medical school as a science degree, it's not a science degree. It is something completed straight school. That's all it is. It's like calling a plumber a scientist. Yeah, shit runs downhill. All right, you got to know that.

But in terms of the rest of the rest of education, if you've got an English major, if you're a history major, you're a women's studies major, you don't know what the hell's going on. You have no idea. You don't know how to think. You don't know what's logical. You don't know what logic is. You have no idea what the hell's going on. And you're the ones that go to law school and become lawyers and become politicians and have done this to us. You're the ones that have done this to us.

The CDC is full of people with science degrees, right? I think at this point I'd rather have a lawyer running the. I think that's true. I think there's a lot of biology majors in the CDC. A lot of doctors in the CDC. And I don't think there are a lot of PhDs in biology in the CDC. No, I think you're giving PhDs too much credit. Well, I'm not. I'll.

And anybody, all what people always give PhDs too much credit, you just got to sit there long enough and they'll give you a PhD. But my point is is that most of the CDC and NIH and all these other alphabet agencies in the federal government that have to do with the medical services industry are they're not hard science majors. They're their indeeds or some associated kind of a thing like that. They went to trade school.

They went to the trade school that teaches you how to prescribe drugs manufactured by Pfizer. And you know, that's fine. I mean, Pfizer's got to eat too. Right? But the problem is not that. The problem is that people without any hesitation whatsoever put on the mask. Yeah, all that's fine. It's the mandates that are probably the mandates are the problem. How many people during those two years?

There are 2020 late 2021 early 2022. Watch their relatives die through an eight by eight glass window in the door in a hospital. A lot of them in not enough. Not enough of them were pissed off about it. No, no, they just, you know, they said, well, it's just those are the rules. Those are the rules. Now where the rules come from.

Without you made them up, Dr Anthony, he fucking made him up. He just pulled him out of his ass. This piece of shit. I'm telling you, he should be spoken of in the same breath as Adolf Hitler and Joseph Stalin. He is an evil, power-med piece of shit. That is all he is fucking telling my said so. You little goddamn idiot. Oh, it's just. Oh, no. Let's comb ourselves down by.

You want to energy says into the show? You have said welcome to starting strength. Oh, I guess I have it. Welcome to starting strength. From the Asgard Company studios in beautiful, which at all falls, Texas, from the finest mine in the modern fitness industry, the one true voice. In the strength and conditioning profession, the most imparted podcast on the Internet. Ladies and gentlemen, starting strength radio.

Let's read this week's installment of comments from the heaters. Oh, this is a particularly. I say that every time. Sometimes they're lame. These are just. These are just. Hateful. Hater comments. Fuck this channel is going down deep. The new Alex Jones. Pathetic compliment. Alex Jones is right like what 90% of the time. Well, he's right. More often than Anthony.

I love it whenever he Alex Jones goes on a Rogan and he says something outlandish and Rogan doesn't believe him and they look it up and it's 100% true. Oh, God, man. What insane world that we live in that we defend Alex Jones. Yeah, as a guy, as a guy, everybody that's how fucked up everybody else. Is it? Because he sees two years ahead. Yeah, he sees two years ahead. All right, gentlemen, if you don't like our country dot, dot, dot, dot.

Now I don't like our country right now. This is an authoritarian tyranny. I'm sorry. Hater. I don't like the fact that in the United States of America, the party in control can charge the chief opposition of the other party with a party. With a bunch of bullshit misdemeanors and elevate them to the status of felonies and then convict him. And then he's looking at over a town where everybody is going to hate his guts. And this is okay. This is okay.

In the United States of America, this is just fine right now in 2024. No, I don't like our country anymore. You fucking pussy. If you do, you're a fucking pussy. So all there is to it. All right. This is that this is not even intelligent enough to read. Let me skip over this. The world was theorized as round approximately 2,354 years ago. Your invisible friend is Donald Trump.

What does that mean? Do you know? This is the crew on religion and the supernatural. What what there was a you said you said something about 600 years ago. People thought the world was flat or something like that. Most people did think the world is flat and there are still people that do think the world is flat. The fact that a Greek guy, 2300 years ago, did the math. Well, I know that. I know that. Believe it or not, I'm real familiar with that. But that's not the point.

God, David. My invisible friend is Donald Trump. Oh, my God. So when he when he gets elected because they just guaranteed that he will get elected. Yes. Does he get to does he then pardon himself? I were him. I was. That's it. That's going to be interesting. I would pardon myself. I'd pardon myself. All of the January 6th. Maybe he'll get around a pardoning.

I would pardon them. I'd pardon everybody involved and all of that shit. And what I would do is then I would start rounding up all the Democrats and killing them. That's what I do. Maybe he could get around a pardoning Edward Snowden and Julian Assange. No, God actually do something helpful. No, he's not going to do that. He's going to talk about doing shit like that. He's not going to do. He had the opportunity to do a bunch of shit.

He just said that he was going to fire every single quote unquote, woke person in the military. Everybody with rank. That was happening under hit. That was happening under his presidency. Oh, that's absolutely. And he did absolute nothing about this is. Well, this is not a. That's the thing. This is the same situation that I was in in 2016. Did I vote for Donald Trump or did I vote against Hillary? Well, I voted against Hillary.

And now I, you know, Donald Trump fucked this thing up during his administration. This vaccine and shit. This is a creature of Donald Trump. Donald Trump was a dumbass in terms of who he hired for positions in the government. He hired John Bolton. If you hired John Bolton, you are not qualified to run a convenience store. Much less the fucking United States government. You can't be that bad a judge of character, but he was over and over.

He fucked everything up. Now what did he not ever do? He didn't ever dictate anything. But we hear constant. Yeah, haranging from the left about Donald Trump's a dictator. He's an authoritarian dictator. What did he dictate? He was there four years. He did dictate a goddamn thing. Now I wouldn't be at all shocked if he didn't start dictating some stuff this time. Wouldn't be shocked, but you guys fixed it up so that Donald Trump is going to be reelected.

And this you've got the election so thoroughly wrapped up. And you know it. That the fixer who is already in. And I'm not discounting the possibility of him doing that. You know, could very well be. That they have got the election that thoroughly rigged. Anyway, all right, let me keep going here. All right, this is this is in regard to the video about Lindsey under muscle to strength gains Lindsey's transformation.

This is this is a very strange comment who was watching her movements during filming. Where's the coach? Filming. No, it was a filming. But either way that there's somebody standing there with her. The women's lips look great. This is a red headed way. You got to read the rest of the comment because he talks about how she's using her back.

Where's the coach? She's going to hurt herself. But she didn't. The only move that she's performing well is the deadlift. Great form because she's built to deadlift conventional because people are either built to deadlift conventional or they're not. Right. That poor woman in the maroon shirt isn't one 44. And I don't understand that part. It's one colon 44. Oh, weird. Like the time is the time the time stamp in the video.

That poor woman in the maroon shirt isn't time stamp one 44. I don't know. She's going to eventually injure her lower back because that's where the load is being concentrated. But he just got to saying. Great for because she's built to deadlift and the only movement she's performing well is the deadlift. And then the comment she's going to eventually injure her lower back because that's where the load is being concentrated.

So wherever the load is being concentrated is where you're going to injure yourself. Is that right? So where should you concentrate it? No where. Gosh, I don't know. Everywhere at the same time. No where and everywhere at the same time, which is exactly what that form does. But see, we're dealing with comments from the haters here and these people have the analytical ability of your average insect.

We should check in with Lindsey though. I mean, her back is probably catastrophic. Yeah, let's call when you get a chance call Lindsey and ask her. She's she can't even talk. All right. I'm getting nervous seeing rip work the knife near his fingers that way. This is the hamburger steak video. Yeah. Well, if you hate me, where are you getting nervous? Don't you want to see me cut my hand? Well, I have done that, you know. Does anyone else feel that rip looks like in stage Jeremy Rinner?

You know, that's a pretty good point. Really. I do kind of look like a stage Jeremy Rinner. Kind of dude look like him. That's true. All right. Let's see if we get Jeremy on the show. Okay, we'll get on it. See what we do. I don't know if he's got anything he wants to tell us, but I didn't he get severely fucked up recently.

Yeah, he had to learn how to re walk walking. Is he back like yeah, he's doing stuff. Yeah, what happened? He had a wreck or something. He it was a snow mobile or not some of those snow plow. He was him and his son were pushing snow off of the big snow plow like a giant one. And I guess his son almost got ran over and he pushed him out of the way and he got ran over by the snow plow.

He had to get a snow plow. Fucked him up real bad. Oh, sure. And he couldn't walk and he had to really learn how to walk. And I know this because he was just on a commercial to sell tennis shoes and he's running in the commercial. Well, that could be AI though. You just you don't know anything anymore. No one knows anything. I mean, AI to him. Jeremy Rinner seems like a guy you want to hang out with.

Oh, yeah, he seemed like a decent enough guy. Yeah, you know, I would agree. What was that good movie he made? Wind River. Wind is that the name of it? Wind River. Wind River. That was a damn good movie. That's one of mustard favorite movies is Wind River. It's a fucked up movie. But yeah, it's pretty good. All right. Oh, here's it. This is this is probably the most intelligent comment of the evening here. You ready?

Let's have it. I like watching chase use momentum to throw himself underneath the bar while pressing and scare quotes pressing and then stand up with it using his post area chain rather than actually pressing the bar bill. So this is this is he uses so bad for a few momentum. He uses momentum, which came from where the momentum store. Did he buy the momentum on Amazon under his pride? I mean, prime account. Is that is that where the momentum came from?

God, David. And then stand up when using his post area chain right next to the bar bill because you don't actually have to hold. Oh, shit. I'm done with it. All right. Now that's great. That's this week's the installment of condoms from the heaters. All right. Now let's let's get to our colors. We've got a call in Q&A this week. And we have two types of Q&A's here on the budget. We have a paper Q&A in which our crack staff prints out your comments that you have typed out on your device.

And emailed or posted or done something with us. And we print those out and lay them on the desk. And when you see a pile of paper here, that's what this is. That's our Q&A paper Q&A. Today, today, we're going to talk to you on the phone. You are going to call in and I'm going to answer the call and you're going to talk to us about whatever you want to ask me about.

And we're going to have a little conversation and this always goes well. You know, I think we haven't had but one trolled in the history of the call in Q&A because I think people understand now that this isn't live. And there's no point in the point trolling the Q&A's. So a call in Q&A shows it's now on your turn. Are you ready? Ready. Let's go.

I think this is Brandon, Brenda or friend from St. Louis. Brandon, is that you? Hey, that's me. How's it going? Oh, God. I hesitate to tell you because you don't believe it. What's going on in? Hey, so glad I'm talking to the science because I have a science question. Good. Good. I am the science about colostomy bags. Yes. That's not science. That's medical services.

Medical services. Medical services. There are science related, but they're not the same thing. Well, I still want to talk to the science. That's fine. Go ahead. This is bugging for a few years. It's about four years ago. A buddy of mine called me. We used to be college friend. We ruined together for a while.

Lips together. They called me to tell me that he was battling that and sounded like he was a really good spirits. And I said, well, we need to get you lifting again because you need to go to the most massive fight this way. Hang on a second, Brandon. I want you to repeat a few from a few years ago. We had a little audio input that's going to fuck stuff up. So start right there again.

So a few years ago, I tell his buddy of mine called me and we used to lift together. We roomed together and everything and we're lifting buddies, but he called to tell me that he was battling cancer. And just to let me know what he was going through, but he seemed like he was in really good spirits. And I told him we got to get him lifting. He got to build some muscle mass.

Fights this thing just to help him through that. Remember, there was an article that we had on the website that talked about that. And I kind of sent it to him. I said, we got you lifting. Get you get you strong. And he said that the doctors told me couldn't do anything strenuous because he had a class.

How does the doctor time I like that? I don't know. I looked for some information and I couldn't find anything on it. Just he ended up passing away. And it's always bugged me that I guess I can't blame it that he didn't start lifting. It's a muscle mass and things like that. But I mean, it couldn't have kind of been any worse than what he wouldn't have happened. But then now, so that always bugged me. Now my grandfather was training up the gym up here and saying Lewis with me.

And he said, I'm going to be a classy bag. So now I'm kind of curious again. Is there anything I should watch out for? Have you heard anything other than it making some noise sometimes? I've had no experience with that at all. I haven't ever trained anyone with an appliance like that. And I just I would imagine that the biggest problem is going to be wearing the belt.

Those those those bags are generally right in the area where the belt goes. So I don't know how you would deal with that. That would have to be that that's an excellent question. If they've got a port into your abs there, that's going to be a point of stress that's going to have to be reinforced with the belt. You know, a person in that situation of belt is really not optional. But it would be an interesting thing to know the best way to do that.

Because if you've got a. All right, we in my in my article called the belt and the deadlift there is a there's a mention in that article of of a phenomenon called hoop tension HOOP hoop tension like a barrel. We've got hoops on the barrel iron hoops that hold the barrel staves together so that when pressure on the inside of the barrel is applied to the staves that pressure is distributed in a circle around the barrel by the barrel hoop.

Okay, this is this is called hoop tension because it's pulling in in tension against the iron of the hoop. Now, this is this is obviously this is easy to see on the on the barrel. It's also easy to see on a tire I recently had a flat on one of my expensive race car tires that poked a big half inch three quarter inch hole right in the middle of the metal belt hooping the tire.

And so I had to I had to get new tires because that thing was eventually going to come apart because even though they're run flat tires there's a there's a break in the hoop tension. So I had to replace the tires now the situation like he's in he's got a hole permanently installed in his abdominal musculature. So there's a break in the hoop tension around his spine that's going to have to be reinforced with a belt.

If he's going to lift anything heavy enough to constitute a strength training stress. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah, I don't see he deadlift 90 without a belt obviously, but if he's going to get his deadlift back up to 275 he's going to have to have a belt on. Is there any risk for her? Yeah, so I'm actually I'm actually I'm quite sure there is. I'm so I'm not eating that I'm looking at stories from lifters with with the cost me and they said that hernia you're at a high high risk for it.

And there's a company that's exactly what there's a company called new hope and you hope and they make a hernia belt specifically for having a clossomy it actually has a hole. So you don't damage the I guess the apparatus. Yeah, port coming out. So that's what these lifters keep saying that they've been using that this particular belt. So you put that hernia belt on and then put a lifting belt on top of it. I don't see anything about a lifting belt on top of it. So I don't I don't know.

I wonder if a lifting belt would fit on top. I don't see this is what you need to figure out. Oh, it looks like a lifting belt. Yeah, it's pretty it looks like a pretty heavy belt. Yeah, yeah, well that might be the deal. Where's what's the source of that new hope new hope in you. So look into that. That sounds interesting. Look into that and get one for him and let's see how it works.

But I want you to make a project out of this for us because if this is if this actually works, I want to get an article out of you about it. For the website because this is kind of important. I would people in this situation need to be strong to. And if this will allow them to train heavy enough to generate a hoop tension around the spine that should be reinforced with a belt, then that's a real good thing.

All right. Are they permanent or call us calling us or yes, it depends on it depends on the day of the city. What's going on? Okay. Yeah. Sometimes they're temporary, right. But if you've had colon cancer, they'd take out your record. They take it out three feet of your colon. You've got a colostomy. If they talk about reversing it, I can be reversed.

I've heard of that. I guess at his age, they just feel I hear it's very painful to have it reversed and it takes a lot of training and you shit yourself a lot. Yeah. But by the same token, you if you herniate that that port area, the ostomy is that that's going to be real bad. That's a real bad situation. And the fact that he's still alive, especially when the other guy is not, you know, is that's something that I wouldn't wish on anybody except anything Anthony found.

And you know, let's let's follow up on that. Would you? Because I'm I'm really interested in how this problem can be solved. All right. All right. So you don't think around a hundred pounds though. I don't know anything to worry about him. That's a hundred. I don't know if there's anything on there. No, but if you go up five pounds to work out with him, he's not going to be in a hundred pounds very long. You know, there's nothing about the situation that. What's that?

He's going to two and a half pounds of those points. He thought he was going to he was going to die. But what we're what we're looking at here is an extremely useful way for him to regain muscular body weight. But at the potential expense of an abdominal injury. And we can't have that. We can't have an abdominal injury. And that's why the doctor who always, you know, opts for the easy way out doesn't want to solve that problem.

It just says, don't don't live weights. You need to be a skinny old man with a colostomy bag. And he may not think he needs to be a skinny old man with a colostomy bag. And I hate to condemn him to that fate. If we don't, if there's a way out of it. So this is your assignment. All right. I want you to get back with us. All right. All right. I'm on it. Good. Thanks for the call.

Next. You're on. Hello. Hello. Hello. Hello. Who's this? Me? This is Tony. Hi, Tony. Where are you calling from? How are you doing? Rip. I'm fine. I'm calling from boy. I'm calling from Boise Idaho. Boise Idaho. I know that it's pronounced Boise. Good job. Yeah. We call it Boise. You call it Boise with a there's only one place in the whole world where it's called Boise. And that's Boise. Boise.

What do you want to call it? What does that tell you? It tells me they're wrong. Exactly right. It tells me they didn't want to fuck your talk. That's how we spot the other towners. Okay. All right. What what can we do for you today? Well, I'm a new lifter. I've only been doing the program for five months, but I'm making pretty good progress. It's changed my life. I've gained. I started out at a body weight of 123 pounds. And now I'm at 158. 163.

I have a right in between there. So man. That's how are you? Are you like five or something like that? I'm five nine. You're five nine and you were 123 pounds. Man. You're. Yeah. I was. You're a little body mass primarily consisted of your liver. At that point. God almighty. And I do measure. I do measure my body. So I can't. That's what I care. But it's I have to track it because it's so low that I try my best to get more on it. I sit around 7% naturally all the time.

Even now right now, I'm still at 7%. Well, that's that's pretty that's pretty crazy. You are the kind of genetics that make bodybuilders, you know, except for the fact you don't have any muscles. Well, I, you know, you're looking for 200 pounds of body weight. What you're looking for. All right. And you're going to you're going to be impressive to the ladies. You get to 200 pounds at eight or nine percent body fat.

And I can't do anything to bring that number up. I'm out. I try. I'm 35 years old. You know, I've been rattling that whole life. Are you? What does your diet look like? Just a curiosity. For you, I've got enough fat intake dietary fats up high. So I do. I've been doing the go mad for a while. Some cold milk. I'm getting a lot of fats from that. My fat intake is usually around 190 to 200 grams at least. You know, you could take that up. Have you, do you like olive oil? You like the way it tastes?

I do. Actually, I think you ought to get some real good olive oil and have a couple of spoons of that every day. Just for the hell of it. You know, it's, it's good. I like the way it tastes. I really do. I put it on popcorn. It's good. It's good. I do that. Right. So anyway, how can we help you today? Well, my question is there's a there's a me coming up here at the end of July and I'm strongly considering entering that meat. Right.

And I was just calling to see what your general advice would be for a guy like me entering into a meat for the first time. Of course, you know, I have no expectations of doing that well, but no, but it doesn't matter. I'm just going for the experience of being in the meat. So what you're going to do is you're going to not alter your training at all. You're not going to alter your training at all. In other words, you're going to train your normal workout on the Wednesday before the meat.

And then Friday, you're going to lay off and then Saturday, you're going to go to the meat and enter the meat and and do your first attempt. That'll be something you can do for you know, you can do for a triple. And then your second attempt will be based on the first attempt. The first attempt was easy, you know, go up 20 pounds and do the second attempt. Then the third attempt will be the same way.

The third, the second attempt was manageable. Go up another 15, 20 pounds and just see if you can do it. And if you can do it, you know what your max is or close, you have a close idea of what your max is. You can't do it. You learn something. And then on the bench press, you do the same thing. You know, on the dead left, you do the same thing. You know, because you're not trying to set your average. About 20 pounds on the bench, too.

No, no, you can't do that big a jump on the bench. You can do five kilo, seven and a half kilo, jumps on the bench. I don't know what is this meat conducted in kilos or pounds. Sometimes you know, you just don't know. So I would go up. Well, based on the records, it's kilos. I'd go up five kilos a piece on the bench press. That's what I do. And on the dead left, you can take bigger jumps on the dead left.

Okay. But that's what that's what the day you're not going to change your training. You've only been training five months. You're not going to change your training because you're going up five pounds of workout anyway. Right. You know, there's not any point whatsoever. And do anything any different than that because you're getting strong as fast as you can get strong already. And what you're going to do is on in the meat is just demonstrate where you are.

You don't have to taper. You don't have to do anything weird with your because you're recovering already. Or you wouldn't be going up five pounds of workout. Right. So I, yeah, I think it's a great idea to go to the meat. Now what you make damn sure that your squats are below parallel because nobody else is there are going to be.

All right. So you make them sure that your squats are below parallel. And you don't let those idiot. If you manage to do it, don't let those idiots put somebody behind you and your dead lifting. That's a stupid guy. You know why they do that. Right. Well, because they do that because people fall over backwards because they're looking up at the ceiling when they did lift, which is what powerlifting coaches teach them to do, which is real weird.

You know, that's what that's the reason for that. They teach them to look up when they did it. Got to look up to go up or some dog shit like that. It's amazing to me that that continues to be followed as advice. But no, I, I, I, he'll go to the meat have a good time. And you're going to, you're going to enjoy yourself. It'll be, it'll be a great experience.

And then so what time you get to your second, no, by the third or fourth meat, then you can kind of start, you know, planning your training to, to taper for the meat. But right now it's absolutely not necessary. In fact, it's counterproductive. Just set your normal five pound PRs on Wednesday before the meat and then plan on doing the same thing into meat. You know, you have to convert a set of five to a single, but there's, you know, there's easy ways to do that.

There's people can help you calculate that. You know, there's probably a good way to do that would be to take your first attempt squat with the same weight that your set of five would be that day. And that take your second attempt at, you know, whatever your guess would be that you could do for like a double based on that based on that set of five weight. And then the third attempt is just see what you can squat.

You know, do that for the other two lists and that ought to work and you'll look, you're going to enjoy this. It'll be a great time. And what federation is it is the meat and you know, yes, US APL, US APL. Well, they're actually going to the only thing good I can say about the US APL is that they will judge depth on the squat. That's the only good I have to say about US APL.

So, you know, you're probably going to you better make sure you get your depth on your all three of your squats because they'll red light. You're the only federation in the country that will. And I've been doing all this training at home and you guys had an opening of a new gym down here and voice the on Saturday. I went to that. So that was my first time step and put the starting strength gym and the guys and they were great. I'm going into moral for the entry program. You will in fact.

All right. Well, that's good, man. Good luck to you. Hope it goes well today. Thanks for the call. All right. Thanks, guys. Bye. Everybody stand by. Everybody stand by. They see. They see right now. Creeping. Let's just turn everything off and leave. If you have a question for Rusty, you can ask in the comments. I don't know. That's a bad idea. No one has a question for me. I mean, it's a star wars. Is Jar Jar still your favorite character?

God, I love Jar Jar. He had a great redemption arc. His actor. He almost killed himself because of that role. It was very sad because everybody bullied him. Are you serious? He almost killed himself. And then, what was that last star wars? It was Mandalorian. They showed a flashback. And he was the guy that saved Grogu. Not as Jar Jar. No, no. He had the actor. Oh, God. Was there any justification ever for including Jar Jar, Binks? It was a poor decision making by Lucas.

Because there was no director that would tell him, no, you shouldn't do that. He tried to get a Spielberg to direct it. And Spielberg said, I'm not touching star wars, man. Because if I fuck it up, everybody's going to hate me. Yeah. And, oh, who else? He tried to get somebody else to direct it. And Jay Abrams would have done it. Oh, fuck that guy. Fuck that guy. What shampoo do you use? Me? Yeah. Dr. Khaled. I just use water. I just rinse my hair with water. Whatever my wife's got in there.

Which is usorship. All right. The science is returned. Was Jar Jar a Sith? No. It's a fun theory though. Do you use a Lufa? No, I just use like a coarse soap and scrub. Okay. Lava. It's, it's, it's, it's not lava. That would hurt. Well, that's a coarse soap. Is there another or is there a less coarse soap than lava? Yeah, yeah. Just say use a sugar scrub. Oh, what is it? What's the name of that? How do you just take a bath and? A bath like, like, filled with a bath tub. No, not a shower.

I'm not sure. I'm nobody takes a bath. He just said to take a bath. Well, you're supposed to understand that. Do you take bath strip? No, no, I don't take a bath tub. Like the idea of him like running a bath. I've got to get in there. I can't do that out at my house just in the water situation. I can take a bath. I can take a shower. I'm sorry. Got him. I can take a shower. I can take a shower in about three gallons of water. I don't feel like that's enough.

I know you don't, but if you lived in a situation where all your water is into tanks outside your house, that you caught off of the roof, you would change your mind. I don't have a free-more reference. Hey, Randall, I would agree with you, Randall. I'm okay. There's only three Star Wars films. I'm probably eight gallons per shower. The prequels I appreciate the more at now that the sequels are out, but yeah, the three main ones are the... Yeah, there's only three only. You know what?

You can't buy. On DVD or anywhere, we probably find it over the HS tape. The original Star Wars movie without the goddamn stupid shit that Lucas has inserted into the... So I have... I think he bought them all up or something. I have somewhere in storage or my parents have in storage the uncut theatrical releases. The theatrical releases that were released on DVD. Back in the 90s, whenever they were re-released, the DVDs, they came out in a gold package and a silver package. The gold...

The last year would like to have those. The gold package had the new theatrical releases with all the added shit in them. And then the silver one were the theatrical releases. That's what I want to see when I see Star Wars. Yeah. I would like to watch the first movie again because I haven't... Hell I hadn't seen it in probably 25, 30 years. You know, the last time I watched that movie was with the animals walking around in the background. And that's just stupid looking. And it just...

You know, why George Lucas did not trust himself? Because that was an extremely important part of film history. But he came back later and decided that it needed improvement. And that's just... That kind of ego is just... You know... The poor man, God Almighty. But if you find that, I sure would like to watch it. I just want to borrow them. I'll give them back. I know I own them. Because I'd like to see those three movies. I know I own them somewhere. Well, get busy and look for them.

And let me have them. And I'll... I'll watch them and give them back to you. I know for a fact I got the VHS tapes from the original... I don't have a player. Yeah. Nobody else does. What I need to do is get those converted to... Digital. Yeah. Yeah, you do that. Yeah, somebody can do that for you. There is a... There are companies that do that. The problem is, as a kid, I watch those VHSes so much. They're old. It's a little degraded. Yeah. Got it.

I would watch those things probably four times a week. I just keep them going. You know all the lines and shit. Well, good. I'd like to have the opportunity to see them again. But I'm not interested in looking at George Lucas's monsters. Shit. I just don't care. All right. Next call. Okay. Back to the show. Back to the show. Hello, Joshy there. Hey, I'm here. What's going on? Hi, Josh. Where are you calling from? Hey, rhythm from North Carolina. Outer banks. North Carolina.

The outer banks of North Carolina. That's the the the barrier islands off the coast. Is that what they do all the way out here? Southern shores. Well, good. Good. How's the weather today? Beautiful. 80 degrees. 80 degrees and real fucking humid. I'm sure. It's always humid out here. That's right. Pretty much in this time of year. Yeah. Okay. What can we do for you? All right. I got a question about switching over working question is about this is training.

And whether it's time to go to an intermediate phase that's that help you avoid this is. I can follow in the novice lane progression for nine months. You know, 100 workouts. And I did my back. I got a total of 12 65. So pretty good. 475. 475 squad. 315 bench. 475 deadlift. My body weight is 255. Okay. So that that deadlift should be higher. And if the goal is, you know, we broke 1250. That's cool. Want to get to 1500. You got to get that deadlift up to like 600. Yeah, you do.

That's going to be a great training. I keep missing on my deadlift and some of my poles and my claims. So I was thinking about moving over to a heavy light medium. He tried to switch up the stress, I don't know. Because at the novice phase, it's like, we'll hit those weights. You know, we'll get a set. Next time we move up and wait. We'll miss it. Missed maybe twice in a row. it is slow in a progress down because I mean I've done it 100 workouts and many

progress or the novice so. Well first let's let's talk about the deadlift. Tell me about your grip on the deadlift or you using an alternate grip a hook grip where you use the straps. Double overhand straps. Double overhand straps all right so when you tell me your deadlift is 475 you're that's not because you're dropping it you just can't pull any more than that right. Oh I'm sorry 475 is my max my last completed set of five was 435 last week and ready. Okay so you

did a 475 single max. Okay but you're pulling 435 for a set of five off the floor with straps. Yeah last set completed and up to that it was like you know 425 fail unlike rep 4 next time you try it hit it go to 427 and a half. All right get the fifth rep and miss it and then next session hit it so. All right let me ask you about your squat or you know shit below parallel on your squat. No shit I got a I got a video of it I hit it. All right well I wonder what the

deal is on your deadlift. You have short arms where do you lock the bar out under thighs is it up by your nuts or is it down in the middle of your thigh? Yeah I'm 60 call to 55. So you've got a you've got kind of an anthropometry issue there with your so you lock the bar out way high on your thigh. Oh yeah it's all the way it's all the way on the bus. Well you know that's just gonna be something you have to deal with so because you're having to pull the bar

four inches further than everybody else does. All right don't just don't worry about it continue to do this. You know I'll tell you you've been training long enough you're you're nine months on the novice progression and it very well may be time for you to switch over to intermediate programming and what I like to advise people to do when they first go to intermediate program is to do the

four-day split. So that would involve you coming in on Monday and Thursday and doing your squats and pulls and then I'll choose the infridey doing your your

presses and your chins. And try that for a while and see if that doesn't get some things unstuck and then that you know a further on down the line I would advise you probably to go to the combination of halting dead lifts and rack pulls because that is always productive and especially in your case especially in your case your rack pulls will become the the most important part

of that of the pulling training and you do have a rack available right. Yeah I don't do rack pulls because that's I just ran the you don't need them now but you do have a power rack right. Yeah so yes. Good all right so that's what I'd do I'd go to the four-day split. Okay that was the question whether to do

like a heavy like medium Texas method or something else. No I would I would do the four-day split right now and I would do I would squat and deadlift now I that squat and rack and power clean on Monday and then I'd squat and deadlift

on Thursday and I might deadlift first on Thursday. So Thursday is gonna be your heavy pool day and Monday will your light pool day so most of your squat work needs to be known on Monday and then take kind of a medium-day squat on Thursday and pull heavy you know but that's it read about that in practical programming I've got the the workout detailed in there. To answer your original question yes failing reps will derail your progress absolutely. Yes

do not fail reps do what you need to do to not fail reps. If you can't complete a rep then you can't deliver the stress to the system to which you must adapt. Okay this is what's wrong with the these chicken chicken shitting by the fuckers that insist on doing RPE they're giving themselves permission to fail and not obtain the stress they need to continue the adaptation and we know this because we train people all the time that have been on RPE for a year

year and a half without having done any PRs. If you're not making PRs you're not getting stronger. Now I don't really need to explain that do I but that apparently they don't understand it. They make them do that and you know pay us to get a

month stuck so we do. But RPE is is just giving yourself permission to not get stronger that's all that is because if you can't force through the PR to the fifth rep of the heaviest set of five you've ever done then you don't get the stress from that RPE and if you don't get the stress from the RPE you can't adapt to it that's just all there is to it. Okay that becomes even more true as you go into intermediate and then advanced program and you can't you cannot be

failing reps and training. If you you got to give yourself some perspective if you pulled 435 for a set of five last week you can pull 440 this week for a set of five. If you didn't something something went wrong either in your brain or there was a technique error or grip error of some kind so in other words you're strong enough to pull another five pounds especially given where your squat is

right now. So just keep that in mind and then if you're only pulling heavy once a week every rep you do is 20% of the stress that you're getting for the week on the pull so if you miss one rep you'll need to do 4. You're gonna 80% you're gonna very quickly start backsliding and you're you'll stop progressing really all your lifts when you that's a great way to look at it

you're missing 20% of stress. Yeah when you're when you're pull stops progressing your entire program stops progressing so that's that's a high priority. You really have to look at an absence of PR's as a programming error and it's a programming error you're not you're not you're not putting the right weight on the bar and then lifting it. Part of your part of your programming is your ability to correctly assess what the next increase in weight needs to be.

If you can't correctly assess that then you can't go up and wait and you can't get stronger. You have to be have me intelligent about this you have to not be a pussy about picking the number but by the same token you can't think you

know I feel good today I think I'm gonna go up 20 pounds. Don't do stupid shit like that you know that's just that's just that's just do what's worked before continue to do what has worked if five pound increases have worked in the past don't just all of a sudden decide to take a 20 pound jump because you happen to feel like a a coxman today don't do that let's stupid you're gonna either hurt yourself or you're gonna get you're gonna miss the rep don't do stupid shit

like that okay so anyway that's those are our thoughts on that and thank you for the call man good luck with your training who's next hello hello who's this hello this is Jake six months ago I used to be the kids who weighed 144 I don't think you remember me I remember why did you programming it yeah yeah and I did you programming and I just want to thank you and this is just a checkup or what do you weigh you went from one 44 to 200 and what what's your death

let's do my deadlift is at three three fifty five but today's the PR week side to weight and check all right and squat did what yes but squat is free 15 for two I'm gonna try to do three 25 today all right three 25 for five right no three 25 for one so you said three 55 no he said three 15 what do you say squat three 15 all right good yes all right well it sounds like you're coming along nicely I told are you I'm well without the hair on 510 I should

five and wasn't I actually like with it to your naked skull your 510 510 140 is where he started oh god oh but he's 510 200 right now so he's kind of looking like a human male now it's got about 25 pounds to go yeah he does at least at least oh oh oh oh sorry I'm sorry to cut you off I need to do

something I used to be oh what oh go ahead you should be 250 I should be 250 my whole life I used to have to be a whole all overweight my whole life right and you know the physics you have a fitness world and all that stuff kind of got me some eating disorders and stuff but your concept really helped me to just again which I'm happier now yeah yeah and now yeah yeah I'm just feeling much better so just thank you thank you good good well we're happy that we could

help happy we could help so what's your question for us today oh my question is I'm just curious am I just a not a strong lifter with the bench press because my whole life I have big weight even when I was overweight skinny or whatever and I'm just curious am I just not strong bench pressure in general I don't know well what what you didn't tell me what your bench is what is it oh my bench currently is two two or five I just don't think stupid what I really regret

it well I tried to do yeah yeah I don't don't do stupid shit all right so your your bench will go up as your body weight continues to go up bench takes a long time the muscles are smaller the the ability to do the lift correctly is more

difficult it's a more technique dependent movement than the left or the squat are you pressing yes I'm over at pressing what are you what are you pressing one of fifty five yes well how long you've been training now oh I've been trained for three years but you're consistently but I should be

programming and crappy training so how long you've been doing our program the one that got you to where you are right now for three months on the dot all right so this is what you're gonna do you're gonna continue to go up five pounds of workout on the lifts that are amenable to five pound jumps the squat and the dead lift you're gonna take two pound jumps on the bench you're gonna take one half two pound jumps on the press if you got frasional plates no no I

don't I go you need to get a frasional plate because you're gonna have to take smaller jumps than that on the bench all right you're gonna take smaller jumps than that on the press so you got to get equipped to do that all right and and you're you've got another six or seven well I'm sorry three or four maybe five months to go on your novice progression before your program has to change you're gonna continue to eat correctly and you're gonna continue to

gain a little weight weight gain is gonna slow down now which is good you know to get fat again but yeah you need to you need to just stick with the program now later on when you're in your intermediate training if you want to start working more on the bench then you'll you know bench two times for everyone press workout and that's fine to do that but not right now not right now you need to you need to stay with the press stay with the press stay with the bench just

make them go up a little bit but if you haven't got the ability to take a smaller than a five pound jump on the bench press or the press you're you're fucking this up because you they won't build up five pounds of jump they won't do it so you need to get some frasional plates you need to invest in

some frasional plates now you can buy those if you're sure that they weigh correctly if you'll buy them from strength co those are good plates all right you can go to the hardware store and get some two inch flat washers and make your own frasional plates but glue it in those together and you know you'd go five or six seven together and that's a that's a one pound plate you know just just buy bunch of those things and make your own frasional plates you're nothing wrong

with doing that you know you but you're gonna have to have some accurate scales because you know you got to have some accurate scales so you can weigh them out or or you can buy some accurate frasional plates from the various places that and we we got that other website knowing yeah we've got

it we got a source of those on the website so the equipment tab under the equipment tab look at the equipment tab on our website and you'll find a source for for accurate flat frasional plates all right but you have to do that if you're wanting to continue novice progression numbers after three

months on the press and the bench you can't do that without the ability to take smaller than five pound jumps because your upper body won't adapt as fast as your lower body because the muscles are smaller yeah I like to make sense so

that's that's a real important thing for you to do all right so get on that first thing you got to do is hang up and order some frasional plates all right or go to the hardware store and make it yourself if you can find two inch flat washers okay okay all right man thanks for the call appreciate it

yeah it's so easy to get frasional plates now there's no point even trying the washer thing yeah I don't know ahead a that got post from the board a couple of days ago it said that he'd weighed all of his frasional plates and they're wrong wrong no they're not wrong his scale doesn't go low enough that's what it is you think all right he's probably not weighing on a postal scale right and so yeah you got to get a postal scale if you're even a nice bathroom

scale only go down to put to half a pound or yeah no nice bathroom scale is not accurate enough for weighing plates can't be done all right all right let's see here hello you there yeah hello yeah hi am I on you're on hi coach this is Ravi Chari I'm a general surgeon I've been to a couple of

your seminars okay and I just had a so thanks for taking my call good thanks for thanks just a comment and a quick question regarding the previous caller about the colostomy you're right yeah you're able to put on that yeah well you applied the principles properly which is you know you don't want to and that analogy with the barrel and the iron bars is actually quite it's quite accurate that's essentially how the the abdominal the muscleature is actually arranged

you know yes so so a quick comment which is you know I've been listed in following your program for about five years now I get coached by Mike Jones out of Plano right one of your gyms okay excellent coach and so you're pretty much right about everything rip from a medical standpoint and everything else isn't it crazy just a quick comment on that I think yeah I think empirically and philomphanomologically you've been proven correct to the point where there's

really no debate you know and well I appreciate you had spoken briefly yeah yeah yeah excellent but I I can't recommend your program enough every skinny kid who comes to me and asks about blink football and high school at five foot eight hundred twenty pounds I tell them just you need to gain weight you need to follow this program and I direct them to your program so actually a couple of recently I I try to get together with a bill and come up with a study because I

see a lot of underweight women in my practice and I try to get them to you know do some loading and it just never worked out with a real one yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah buddy out on the west on the east coast I just just texted him the other day so check on him how about yeah yeah now he's a great guy and his his podcast with you is really very very influential for me just because of the application the fundamental principles so I have a quick

question for myself I could true so I'm 58 years old 205 pounds five foot eight my max on the squad is 270 benches 170 I can't press because of a shoulder issue but my incline is about 150 and my deadlift my max is the three three

twenty five would be accurate right so so my question is said does body weight so my question really is an aesthetic one I'm carrying a gut you know I got my my waist is about 38 or 40 depending on how it's measured yeah so my question is and you've answered this I know do I optimize weight my not

gaining my lift you know going up in my numbers on the lifts over my body weight yes or yes you do and and the reason is your 58 nobody gives a fuck what your belly looks like all right that's a that's a hard pill to swallow I understand but but nobody cares what your belly looks like all right and

because you're 58 you are coming into the point in your life where it's going to be much much harder for you to maintain a strength increase all right now let me ask you this are you on testosterone replacement therapy I am not

I'm considering doing that why not no I'm not why not I so this is what my this my primary gave me this answer and you might laugh at this you don't need a primary got almighty man you don't need a primary physician you're in Plano there's 35 testosterone clinics within five miles of you no no my

coaches I live in a lot of my coaches and okay there's 15 then look here's a vanity thing I worried about losing my hair and I'm worried about look man no one gives a fuck about your hair well here let me show you something well he he cares apparently he cares all right you care you gotta get over there they're not the two things are not that's it's not an either or it's just that the the real question is how hard are you willing to work yeah how disciplined are you

willing to be you can have and do both right if you want to do it the easy way then then the the smooth brain easy way to do it is focus on strength and get fat or do easy shit and lose weight those are both very easy to do if you want to

do both at the same time you can you can lose your gut and continue to get stronger but you have to pay attention to what you eat you got to eat your flutton of protein you got to get on testosterone you got it and you got to eat less of the shit that that you want to eat and you can do both it's a

coach so the real question Mike Mike has been real good about everything well you know and Mike's a good guy and and I'm sure he's probably mentioned the idea of TRT to you and yeah yeah you need to you need to think about that I mean you're 58 you might not need to change anything and you'll get

what you want if you get on TRT yeah seriously good point yeah I but you know but coach I I anyway I can't begin to tell you how much good you've done and how much this the programming you've promulgated is really benefit tremendously so many people and it's really you know I mean that I've

analyzed it from a medical standpoint physiologic and atomic you know I I said I'm a general surgeon with strong basic science background and there are no flaws in this program they really aren't I've looked at it and I appreciate

saying that we've hunted the flaws down and stomped them out you know that's what we've changed the battle yeah you've analyzed everything yep a play it's a the system is very solid and I want to thank you again well I will consider TRT so I think you should consider TRT and I'm we use

Whitmer Rejuvenation Clinic and yeah no I've listened to yeah he's on the website and and Mike a good guy and he's got everybody's well-being in mind and he can tell you the truth about all of this stuff and he knows more about it than most people I would also recommend with TRT's very good at this

list to go up right yeah I got that the list to go up with TRT with it with training and nutrition of course oh yeah oh yeah but there's that we're not doing this just for your lifts now what I want I want to make it clear that when we recommend testosterone replacement therapy this is not the same

thing as a 25-year-old athlete going on steroids it's not the same thing your 58 yeah 58 your testosterone is low and if you talk to your stupid ass GP about this he's gonna look at the reference range and he's gonna look at your number and he's gonna say well you're within the reference range so you're not too low now that's the level of analysis that he's capable of doing he doesn't know anything about this you would like for your testosterone to be as

high as you can get it within reason all right and what will happen if you do this correctly is that you will get stronger which you which means that you will be carrying more muscle mass into your 60s and 70s and 80s then you would be otherwise and you're a general surgeon and you understand the relationship between muscle mass and general health and keep this in mind keep this in mind all right thank you man thanks for the call appreciate it appreciate all you

did okay bye-bye wonderful do one more one more sounds good to me all right fill you all you got made it you made it man you just barely made it who's this this is Phil yeah hey good afternoon my name is Phil I'm calling from Fairfax Virginia and thanks for taking my call I appreciate it sure I thought I was Phil Megars for a minute I was gonna get excited I would feel Megars call man it'd be great he's smarter than we are he doesn't need to call that's true all right Phil how can we help you

number I call them and have them yeah so I'm 39 200 pounds 5 8 I hurt my back in March deadlifting March 15th I was deadlifting 380 after my second triple I felt like a very mild tweak in my low back just off the center and walked away

kind of little sore for a couple days a week later I was warming up for 385 and the same spot just started hurting immensely I was crawling around on the garage floor I couldn't look at a weight for a week really hurt a lot okay since since then before then my deadlift PR was 425 my squat PR was 335

since then my bedlift is back to 285 and my squat 205 but it's really really painful all right and so my question is what do you do well but first let me answer a couple of quote you are wearing a belt yes sir all right is it a three inch or a four inch belt three inch good all right and you said you're 35 39 39 I tried well I tell you what 38 what happened yeah I I'll tell you that you know back tweeks are incredibly common everybody gets them yours

sounds like it may be being a little bit more persistent than then most of these things go away in two weeks you know he's doing most back most back injuries you you you feel it right it adversely affects your movement adversely affects your training but two weeks later it's gone all right now yours hadn't done that yours hadn't behaved that way do you have any neurological symptoms now by that I mean numbness or tingling in a leg or anything even more

no numbness or tingling I have had some some radiating pains and I calf that feels related to that it is down the outside of your leg right and it goes down to your calf yeah it goes down to kind of the side of the side of my lower leg well that's that's sciatica all right that's sciatica now sciatica is treatable if you can find a big muscular massage therapist that knows how to do a piriformis release and probably also an IT band release so we're talking about

two different things both of which hurt real bad a piriformis release and an IT band release I would get that side done hell I do I do all four but do both legs but I'm telling you you need to take about a pipe bourbon to the appointment with you all right because you're gonna need it because I'm telling you this fucking shit hurts real bad real real bad but it works it works so well that most people will get up off of the table out of pain so you put up

with some pain to get rid of the pain all right now I'm telling you this is it's an extremely effective method of treating this particular situation but you got to find the guy knows how to do it all right if you live around here I do it for you I know how to do it but you you really do need to get that attended to this has been going on too long so it's not just a normal tweak you got something wrong down in your hip and it's probably in his low back are

you are you well that it's it's probably in his hip and he's feeling it in his low back he's also feeling it down the sciatic nerve so that locates the lesion which is in the vicinity of the piriformis and that that that you get somebody to dig his elbow into that holluspot on your ass cheek and

mash on the piriformis it gets some of the swelling out of the thing and then the piriformis stops mashing on the sciatic nerve immediately and and it in your lot better yeah but feeling it down the leg could also be a lumbar herniation especially if he's yeah if you felt a tweak off to the side well on the squat that's why I wanted to ask him if he had any neurological and he does right he's got no he's got referred pain which is not necessarily the

same thing is a neurological deficit if you are if you cannot control your bowels or your piss oh for sure yeah then you've got a neurological deficit yeah well that's an extreme but I would say radiating pain is neural if he's radiating pain is technically neurological but it doesn't indicate a disc herniation well either either way nothing changes you can have sciatica without a disc herniation 95% of the people that have a disc that have sciatica don't

have a disc herniation all right well you have to make sure that you're not doing something in your lifts it's fucking right now it's possible that the guy it's possible that he injured a desk on that on that deal it's possible the remote possible he probably didn't do it lifting he probably did it in a bunch of other shit that he's sitting on his ass all the time if I were you and I was sufficiently curious about this I'd get an MRI a lumbar MRI study and let's

see what the hell's going on in there but see then you get into the situation I would get a fucking MRI because he's gonna show a disc herniation he's gonna show he's gonna show something wrong because he's an adult human so let me give him let me give him some practical advice from firsthand awful

experience make sure your lifts aren't fucked up make sure you're not overextending your low back when you squat you may be doing that because you're trying to protect your low back so therefore you overextend your low back and

then you're loading in overextension and you're moving wiggling your back around at the bottom of the squat so stop doing that get just get a for check somewhere with a coach in person if you can if not post one online if if you've ruled out the situation of your technique being an issue keep

training and figure out a way to train around it so if the squat bothers it try pausing the bottom of each rep and see if that feels better right so if the it and it does not and go as heavy as you can did you say it does not feel

better if you pose yeah that's right now I could be I could deal with a little bit less back extension and that might help it but are you pausing on a box are you just stopping at the bottom of the squat pausing on a box do not pause on a box if your low back is fucked up do not

pause on a box if your low back is fucked up right you're think about what you're doing you're compressing your lumbar spine between a bar and a box with a low back that's injured or hurting right not a good idea well it's a yeah okay it's it's not hurting when I it's not hurting when when I back hitting compression it's it's hurting when I'm pushing out of it understood yeah because your back's way more than around and shit yeah so stop doing that don't

pause don't sit on a box just just squat normal man if you fit just squat normal and you'll probably find and then if you're spending most of your day sitting somewhere just get up and move around a little bit start there before

you do anything else don't go get an MRI because MRI is going to show all kinds of fucked up shit right right I was tated to mention that because any human being that's forty that's thirty nine years old is going to show what it's considered to be lumbar pathology sure everybody will and then you'll

have others trying to talk you into having surgery right and then you'll say oh God well I've got to have this fixed and then you're fucked yeah unless you're pissing yourself don't don't don't do it but you can manage this on you yeah yes you're just gonna have to you know make sure your belt's on right and make sure your knees are out at the bottom of the squat make sure you're dead lift is coming off the floor with it with a good solid lumbar extension and

not an overextension and don't squat in overextension don't squat in overextension don't pull in overextension and what that means to most people is that you're going to be at a more horizontal back angle than the fuels at the gym tell you you need to be all right that's not the position

from which to pull or squat is a vertical back angle because a vertical back angle will produce they can yell at you enough about it you're gonna be in in lumbar overextension and that's not a good position that you don't want to do that that jams up your facet joints and it just causes all kinds of

problems okay neutral back neutral anatomical back position is where you lift from not anatomical overextension and that's that's poorly understood by most people okay all right I'll get some bourbon to for that yeah I think I take some bourbon in for the for the for the adjustment in fact you can take gym beam and it doesn't have to be good you know just has to be out of anything works anything works for this purpose yes all right and get up and get a ride

all right right all right all right man thanks for the cold thank you very much thank you all right well all right boys another successful you guys have fun today oh god great time man man do you know how much fun I had over here I can't even tell you how much fun I had I mean it's just you know doubt ranges it's most fun I've had since yesterday most fun I've had since yeah since I got up this morning I got to take that first piece of the day oh I sure do like taking a
