¶ Jesus Loves Me Song
. When I was a kid , growing up , in church we had all kinds of kids' songs that we used to sing . We don't really sing a lot of those anymore , but there's one that sticks with you and that you remember because the truth is so simple and so important . It simply went like this . It said Jesus loves me . This I know , for the Bible tells me so .
Little ones to him belong , they are weak , but he is strong . Yes , jesus loves me . Yes , jesus loves me . Yes , jesus loves me . The Bible tells me so . What a great song .
¶ When We Feel Like Failures
That song was relegated to a kid's chorus in Sunday school , but the truth of it goes way beyond that of a child Sunday school . But the truth of it goes way beyond that of a child .
It goes into the lives of all of us as adults , throughout all of our lives the knowledge that God loves us , that Jesus loves us , and sometimes we need to just stop and be reminded about how much God loves us .
Right now , right where we are in our lives , it's very easy for us to feel beat up , sometimes , not just because of what we are hearing , but because we recognize our own failures . We know that we should have done better yesterday .
Or I shouldn't have said that , or shouldn't have done that , or , man , I really blew it with my kids , or with my co-worker , or with my spouse . I really shouldn't have reacted like I did . And we can beat ourselves up . We get so down on ourselves in it . Our immediate response is to think that God's mad at us because we failed .
The simple promise from God is that he loves us . John 3.16 is the most well-known verse throughout the whole Bible , for God loved the world so very much that he gave to us
¶ God's Love in Action
his one and only Son , so that whoever believed in him would not die but would have eternal life with God . Jesus Christ came so that we might have the relationship that leads to that place where we can go and be with God in heaven forever . But that relationship right now is a personal one between us and Jesus that each of us have every day .
Matthew 12 , verse 20 , tells it a beautiful way . It says A bruised reed he will not break and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out . Man , if we're bruised and we're hurting and we are feeling bruised and hurting sometimes he's not going to break us . A bruised reed he's going to love on , he's going to heal .
He's going to come and stand by and stand with and give strength to A smoldering wick , as long as there's a little bit of flame there . The wick doesn't have to be blazing in full flame , there just has to be a little bit there and God's not going to come along and snuff it out . Instead , he's going to come and lift it up and strengthen it .
God's not mad at us . God loves us . The Bible tells us that when we confess our sins , he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness . And then it says also that our sins are cast as far away as the east is from the west . God doesn't look upon you and I as sinners .
He doesn't look upon you and I as failures .
Even when we make a mistake , he still loves us and His desire for each one of us is just to turn to him and come to him and let him receive us back to himself , as we continue to receive God's love into us , we are then more able to share that love to people around us , to make a difference in the lives of people , to make a difference in our family
and friends , to lift them up and let them see and experience all of the good things that God has , all of the power that God has working in their lives . We can make a difference to them and in them . This morning , I just want you to know that Jesus
¶ Final Encouragement
loves you and that he's with you right now . And whoever or whatever is trying to steal your joy or steal your confidence in God , listen to the truth . God loves you . He loves you more than you can ever imagine or think . He gave a son for you to die for you , and he gives you life and a relationship with him because he loves you and cares about you .
