The Power of Forever

right . Good morning everybody , and welcome to Easter Monday . Yesterday we celebrated that Jesus is alive , he rose from the grave and he now is alive in heaven forever . He has defeated sin , he has defeated death and he offers the gift of eternal life to anyone who wants to receive it .

That's what yesterday was all about , and today , in our Music Monday , we're going to talk about a really fabulous song from Kerry Jobe called Forever

. Revelation , chapter 5 , verses 12 to 13 says Worthy is the Lamb who was slain to receive power , riches , wisdom , strength , honor , glory and blessing forever . And that's what this song declares that God is worthy of our praise forever .

When talking about the writing process of the song with fellow musician Brian Johnson , kerry said as he and I wrote on that first day , we locked down the melody and the theme of forever . We knew we wanted the song to reflect , remind and portray Jesus' death on the cross as a once-and-for-all thing giving us victory forever .

We wanted to paint it in a poetic way . That hasn't necessarily been said before . We worked on the song for a few months and then pulled in four other people along the way . I'm thankful we took our time to pour our hearts out in this song

. I believe it is strong and complete , just like the cross . The song is a clear depiction of the cross and the price that Jesus paid . My favorite part of the whole song is Our resurrected King has rendered you defeated . When Jesus died on the cross , he paid the penalty for our sin . He ransacked hell , defeated Satan and took the keys .

Colossians 2 , verses13-15 declares Jesus canceled the record of the charges against us . He took it away by nailing it to the cross . In this way , he disarmed the spiritual rulers and authorities . He shamed them publicly by his victory over them on the cross .

By Jesus' resurrection on the third day , we now have access to his spirit , who takes residence inside of us when we get saved . This massive revelation of the cross is completely life-changing .

Not only do we have entrance to heaven , but we can have a life of authority over Satan as overcomers and conquerors , because Jesus has already won and now heaven is going to be a beautiful place of worship for us , his redeemed people , as we forever glorify the one who loved us so much . He gave his life for us . Hallelujah , the Lamb has overcome .

The song opens up this way the moon and stars , they wept . The morning sun was dead . The Savior of the world was fallen . His body on the cross , his blood , poured out for us , the weight of every curse upon Him . One final breath he gave as heaven looked away . The Son of God was laid in darkness . A battle in the grave . But then the song picks up .

What happened next ? The war on death was waged . The power of hell forever broken . The ground began to shake . The stone was rolled away . His perfect love could not be overcome . Now , death , where is your sting ? Our resurrected King has rendered you defeated . He is alive . Yes , jesus is alive .

His power and victory over death and sin is available to every one of us . Jesus' resurrection was an absolute , incredible miracle . He defeated death and he defeated the lies of Satan . For you and for me . What an incredible , powerful , beautiful thing God has done for us .

We need to thank Him for it every day , we need to embrace it every day and we need to search out the life that God has for us . Let the light of God shine through you to your friends and family this week and decide to be a blessing wherever you go at work , at home , with your friends , wherever it is .

Be a blessing on the people that you are working with and let God use you to encourage them and to show His life and light to them
