Episode description

What if the key to overcoming life's challenges lies in the transformative power of a name? On today's episode of "Starting Right with Danny Mac," we explore the profound impact of music and the name of Jesus through the lens of two inspiring songs performed by Maverick City Music and Tauren Wells. These songs, "There's Something About That Name" by Bill and Gloria Gaither and "All My Hope" by David Crowder, though penned decades apart, resonate with a shared message of salvation and redemption. With references to scriptures like Philippians 2:9-11 and Acts 4:12, we reflect on how the name of Jesus embodies peace, healing, and hope for us all.

Good morning and welcome to Starting Right with Danny Mac . I'm going to be here every Monday to Friday to help you get a great five-minute start to your day . So grab your cup of coffee , sit back , relax and let me help you start your day right . Good morning everybody , and welcome to Music Monday .

I was watching a video of a concert over the weekend that featured Maverick City Music and Torn Wells . They put two songs together back to back that absolutely blew me away . It was beautiful . It was wonderful and I knew I had to share it with you this morning . The two songs are written almost 50 years apart .

First one is there's Something About that Name , written by Bill and Gloria Gaither back in 1970 . The second one is All my Hope , written by David Crowder in 2017 . Both of these songs focus on one thing , one person , and that's Jesus .

The Bible teaches us that the name of Jesus is powerful , and that power does not come just from saying the word Jesus , but it's in what Jesus' name represents . It's the salvation and redemption of all humanity .

In Philippians 2 , verses 9-11 , it says Therefore , god has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name , so that , at the name of Jesus , every knee should bow . In heaven and on earth and under the earth , there is no name greater than Jesus .

God appointed His Son to be the greatest power this world has ever seen , so that everyone , every other name , every other person and being on this earth would have to bow down to him because he is greater than them all Over .

In Acts , chapter 4 and verse 12 , peter said Salvation is found in no one else , for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved . You see , that name of Jesus is the way to have a relationship with God . It is through him that we can actually have peace with God .

And then , throughout the Bible , there are numerous accounts of the miraculous power of Jesus' name . For example , in Acts , chapter 3 and verse 6 , peter heals a man who had been lame from birth by saying In the name of Jesus , christ of Nazareth , rise up and walk . So the name of Jesus is not just a word or even just a name .

It's when that name is connected with the person who he was , which was the Christ , the Messiah , the Savior of the world . So when we ask Jesus to save us , to heal us , to work in our lives . We're calling on the one who has the power to do what needs to be done , and that's what both of these songs today talk about .

There's something about that name , written by Bill and Gloria . The Agather is actually a very short song . It simply says Jesus , jesus , jesus . There's just something about that name . Kings and kingdoms will all pass away , but there's something about that name . Will all pass away , but there's something about that name .

It's one of those songs that never fails to move me when I hear it sung in a worshipful way . Then in David Crowder's song All my Hope , he says all my hope is in Jesus . Thank God that yesterday is gone , all my sins are forgiven and I've been washed by the blood .

So whatever you need today or you're going to face this week , if you need hope , you can find it in Jesus . If you need direction , you can find it in Jesus . If you need healing or peace with God or peace with others , the answer for all of those questions and all of those problems can come from Jesus .

You can pray to Him and talk to Him and he will speak to you . He will lead you , he will guide you . He will work in your life in miraculous and powerful ways , and these two songs today remind us how great and awesome Jesus really is . I'm going to leave you with just a clip of the second song , all my Hope .

It's being sung by Torin Wells , but if you click on the link in your show notes today , it will take you to the YouTube version , where these two songs come together in such a powerful fashion . I hope you'll take the time to watch it and be blessed by it , because I know it will speak to you . Have a great day , my friends . God bless y'all .

We will talk again tomorrow are forgiven .
