¶ Intro / Opening
Good morning and welcome to Starting Right with Danny Mac . I'm going to be here every Monday to Friday to help you get a great five-minute start to your day . So grab your cup of coffee , sit back , relax and let me help you start your day right . The teacher of a grade eight geography class was beginning a series on the seven wonders of the world .
She introduced the class by asking the students what they thought the seven wonders were . What she was looking for was to see how many of the students knew what . The classic response to that question was . What are the seven wonders that people declare in the world today ?
Now , most of us will recognize them , number one being the Great Pyramids of Egypt , number two being the Taj Mahal , number three , the Grand Canyon . Number four , the Panama Canal . Number five , the Empire State Building . Number six , st Peter's Basilica . And number seven , the Great Wall of China .
She'd handed out sheets to each of the students asking them to write down what their views were , and while she was gathering up the papers , she noted that one student , a quiet girl , hadn't turned her paper in yet , so she asked the girl if she was having trouble with her list . The quiet girl replied yes , a little .
I couldn't quite make up my mind because there are so many . And the teacher said well , tell us what you have and maybe we all can help . The girl hesitated awkwardly and then read I think the seven wonders of the world are number one to touch , number two to taste , number three to see , number four to hear she hesitated a little .
And then number five to run , number six to laugh . And number seven has to be to love . There were a couple students who loudly proclaimed how dumb that list was . There were a couple students who loudly proclaimed how dumb that list was .
But then there was the discussion the class had , and before long there was this general consensus within the class that the lists that this young girl had put together really were wonders of the world , and even the teacher couldn't argue with it .
It is often far too easy for us to look at what man has done and refer to them as wonders , while we overlook everything that God has done . We tend to call those things ordinary , when in fact they truly are wonders . How powerful and incredible are the things that God has given us and done for us ?
I'm going to get back to the young students list in just a moment , but let's remind ourselves of what God has actually created that is far more wondrous than anything that man has created on this earth . Isaiah , chapter 40 , verse 26, . Lift up your eyes and look to the heavens . Who created all these ?
He who brings out the starry host one by one and calls each fourth by its name . Because of his great power and mighty strength , not one of them is missing . Just think about that for a moment . God not only flung the stars into the sky from his fingers , but the millions and millions of stars that are out there .
God knows each one of them by name Over in Psalm 104 , verses 24 and 25, . How many are your works , o Lord ? In wisdom , you made them all . The earth is full of your creatures . There is the sea , vast and spacious , teeming with creatures beyond number , living things , both great and small .
All we have to do is take a quick look around us and we see the wonder of what God has created the stars in the sky , the sun , the moon , the sea , the mountains , the plains , the plants , the animals . All these things that are around us . God created and he created them out of nothing . He spoke and it became real . That truly is wondrous .
And then there are other things this young student talked about . These are very personal wonders and yet they are no less wonderful to be able to touch and to taste , and to see , to hear , to run , to laugh and to love . Can you imagine life without those things ? Those are tremendous gifts from God , and he put them in place when he created us .
He made us with the ability to experience those things . So what are your seven wonders of the world ? What things impress you the very most when you think of them today ? Thank God for them and then tell somebody else why you're thankful . God has blessed us with so very much , and we bless Him back when we thank Him for what he's given us .
Have a great day , my friends . We'll talk again tomorrow . Thank you for listening today and I invite you to join me Monday to Friday
