Good morning and welcome to Starting Right with Danny Mac . I'm going to be here every Monday to Friday to help you get a great five-minute start to your day . So grab your cup of coffee , sit back , relax and let me help you start your day right .

I came across some really goofy laws that there are in different places around the world and I just want to share some of those with you this morning because they're really they're just too good to believe . Did you know that in Arizona it is against the law to have a sleeping donkey in your bathtub after 7 pm ?

Did you know in Alberta it's illegal to set fire to the leg of a wooden-legged man ? I like this one from Scotland . It is illegal to ride a cow while you are drunk , I guess . While you're sober it's okay in Scotland , but if you're drunk you can't do that . Here's a really weird one Pregnant women in Madagascar are not allowed to wear hats .

Pregnant women in Madagascar are not allowed to wear hats . In Australia , up until 1998 , it was illegal for you to change your own light bulb . You had to get a certified electrician to do that . Did you know that right now , if you live in Alabama , it is against the law for you to wear a fake mustache in church .

In Samoa , it is illegal to forget your wife's birthday . They said it's unclear how long your sentence will be for this , but I'm pretty sure it's going to at least be a year . Here's a couple more . If you are a motorist in Washington DC and you have criminal intentions , it is required that you phone the police chief and tell him before you enter the city .

Think that one through just for a moment . In the province of Quebec , it is illegal to impersonate a foreigner . In the state of Oregon , you're not allowed to drive your car with a child on the hood . Thank goodness , these are just too weird , some of them Absolutely weird .

One of the great criticisms that many people think they have against Christianity and against God is that it's all just a bunch of rules . It's a bunch of regulations , it's a bunch of do's and don'ts , and they don't like being trapped by those kinds of laws . Well , the reality is that Jesus really didn't give us many laws . He gave us two .

They're found in Luke 10 and 27 and 28 . He said Love the Lord , your God , with all your heart , with all your soul , with all your mind , and love your neighbor as yourself . Really , that's all the laws that Jesus gave us , but the key of both of those laws is about relationship .

It's about a relationship to God and it's about a relationship to the people around us . And Jesus went on and taught much about relationships about how to deal with each other , how to love one another , how to care for one another , how to get over ourselves a lot of the time and to know what it means to really care about and to love somebody else .

In Luke , chapter 10 , in verse 30 , he gives us the best example of this that's anywhere in scripture . Let me just read it to you . This is from the Passion Translation . There was once a Jewish man traveling from Jerusalem to Jericho when bandits robbed him along the way . They beat him severely , stripped him naked and left him half dead .

Soon , a Jewish priest walking down the same road came upon the wounded man and , seeing him from a distance , the priest crossed to the other side of the road and walked right past him , not turning to help him one bit .

Later , a religious man , a Levite , came walking down the same road and likewise crossed to the other side to pass by the wounded man without stopping to help him . Finally , another man , a Samaritan , came upon the bleeding man and was moved with tender compassion for him .

He stooped down and gave him first aid , pouring olive oil on his wounds , disinfecting them with wine and bandaging them to stop the bleeding . Lifting him up , he placed him on his own donkey and brought him to an inn , and there he took him from his donkey and carried him to a room for the night .

The next morning he took his own money from his wallet and gave it to the innkeeper with these words Take care of him until I come back from my journey . If it costs more than this , I will repay you when I return . So now Jesus said tell me which of these three men who saw the wounded man prove to be his true neighbor .

Our relationship with God is proven by our relationships to other people . For the Samaritan man to stop and help the Jewish man was unheard of in that time . You don't do that . The Jews and the Samaritans did not mix . The Samaritan man saw a person , a man , a neighbor , a brother , who was in need , and he went and helped him .

God tells us to love God and to love those people around us , to be patient , to be kind , to be generous . So I challenge you today decide to be good to someone . Today , you know , I want to just show God's love and God's care to someone around me , and let God bless you , be an encourager , be strengthened and let God work through you .

Have a great day , my friends . We'll talk to you again tomorrow . Thank you for listening today and I invite you to join me Monday to Friday , right here on Starting Right , with Danny Mac .
