Keeping Our Hope Alive

Today we're going to feature a song from Mandisa and John Riddick called you Keep Hope Alive . This song was released about four years ago , but it has a powerful message of truth for us today .

Recently I heard a report that said over 75% of the people in the United States are living in fear of the future , the belief of an economic crash or an oncoming war or the end of the world because of climate change . All those fears are growing and stirring people's hearts and minds and causing them to live in a state of uncertainty .

And when you're living in fear , you're not living in peace . And when you're not living in peace , very often the people around you are not able to live in peace either . You get a bunch of fearful people in one spot . There's going to be conflict , there's going to be problems , there's going to be anxiety and attacks . All of that is destructive .

Emotion keeps people from growing and moving forward , and yet that is what we are seeing grow right now in our nations . If you want to try and figure out why there is no hope and why people are living in so much fear , you don't have to look very far in scripture .

Paul in Ephesians , chapter 2 and verse 12 , wrote this in those days you were living apart from Christ . You were excluded from citizenship among the people of Israel and you did not know the covenant promises God had made to them . You lived in this world without God and without hope .

You see , if you don't have God in your life , you're not going to have any kind of hope , because God is the author of all hope . In John 16.33 , jesus said I have said these things to you , that in me you may have peace In the world . You will have tribulation , but take heart , I have overcome the world . See , jesus is the source of our hope .

He is the source of our peace , and if you're in a place within yourself right now where you're struggling to find hope and peace , christ has it for you . He wants to pour it into you so that you can have the strength that you need to face it . Romans , chapter 15 , verse 13, .

Paul again writes and says I pray that God , the source of hope , will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust him . Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit . Hey , we can have more than hope . We can actually have confident hope .

It's a hope that we know that God will work what is right and true and strong , that God will be there for us in the midst of all of our challenges . And that's what today's song is all about . The song starts this way Days may be darkest , but your light is greater . You light our way , god . You light our way . Evil is rising .

You're rising higher with power to save . You keep hope alive from beginning to end . Your word never fails . You keep hope alive because you are alive . That's the powerful truth from God of his love for us .

He sent Jesus to this world so that we could find peace and strength and ultimately , through his death and resurrection , we could have peace with God and hope in all things .

Even when there's trouble and trials around us , even when the world seems like it's going crazy and people are filled with so much anger and nastiness and violence , in Christ , there is hope for us all , always because of that promise that he has overcome the world , and so can we . Through him , we can overcome the fear that we have .

We can overcome that anxiety , because Christ has given us the victory over it all , through hope .
