Speaker 1

Good morning and welcome to Starting Right with Danny Mac . I'm going to be here every Monday to Friday to help you get a great five-minute start to your day . So grab your cup of coffee , sit back , relax and let me help you start your day right .

Have you ever awakened in the middle of the night and you have to get up and do that little walk around down the hall to the bathroom ? But because it's dark and it's your own house and you've done it so many times before , you know you don't have to turn on the light .

So you're going to get there and you're going to be just fine because you've done it so many times before . And yet something this time is a little bit different .

You don't turn the corner around the end of the bed the way you normally do , and suddenly your little toe slams into the corner of your dresser , or you step on something that's been left on the floor that you thought was put away , or worse .

Yet the cat is laying on the floor beside the bed and you don't see it and you kick the cat as you're trying to get to the bathroom and you fall or trip or howl , reacting to the situation there , and you're just like why didn't I turn on the light ? I think we've all been through situations like that , where we thought we knew our way in the dark .

We figured we could get there . Because we've done it so many other times , we're familiar with the path to get there . We think we know how to do it . But in the process of getting there , there's just something that's not right . Whether we make a mistake and misjudge something , or something is different that we just weren't aware of .

And so now we're slamming into things , we're tripping over things , we're kicking the cat and making it howl . Whatever was unexpected before us becomes an obstacle , and either we can get hurt or we can hurt the cat . What we needed to do was turn on that light .

Right now we are facing a world of uncertainty , not because it's necessarily dark , but simply because we just don't know . We continually do not know what to expect next , and as we go through this time of working out everything around us , we don't know what the answers are . And so , because we don't know where we're going , we need some help .

We need to have the light turned on so we can see what is around us , what to do , how to avoid the pitfalls , the problems . We need the light so we don't stumble around in the dark . I like what God spoke to Joshua in Joshua , chapter 3 .

They were going to go now into the promised land and God said to Joshua I'm going to lead you because you have not been this way before .

Quite honestly , for all of us , we've not been this way before , and we are struggling through the darkness of not knowing the pieces , not even knowing what direction to go or what to do with a lot of things that we are facing , and so we need to find that answer and that help for us to be in the right place at the right time so we don't hurt ourselves

and hurt the people that we love around us . The greatest direction for us probably comes from 2 Samuel , chapter 22 and verse 29 . For you are my lamp , o Lord , and my God lightens my darkness . He is a light unto our path and he lightens our darkness .

He leads the way that we are going so that we can see how to get through things that are dark around us , things where we can't see the hidden problems or the holes or the traps or the situations that we're going to face .

God has promised that he will direct us and help us and guide us , and God's greatest guidance for us comes as we spend time with him . We read the Bible , we talk to him , and what's even more important is we make sure we let Him talk to us and give us the encouragement and the wisdom and the peace that we need every day .

What I encourage us to do is not stumble around through the darkness , thinking we can get there , we know the answers , we've been through stuff before , we can get to where we want to go , but instead saying Lord , turn on the light for us .

I need you to be my light , I need you to be my lamp and my guide through this maze that we are going through , because , god , we've not been this way before . So be my light , be my guide today and give me the strength and wisdom that I need . Have a great day , my friends . We'll talk to you again tomorrow .

Thank you for listening today and I invite you to join me Monday to Friday , right here on Starting Right with Denny Mack .
