This weekend we held a student hackathon over generational poverty. While the event itself was amazing, we missed the mark on how many students we wanted to attend? While I tell myself this is a part of "testing the waters," it still was a punch to the gut. So, how can we get better? What will we do differently next time? I guess that is ALWAYS the journey of a startup... nonprofit or not. ...back to the drawing board.

Serious question: When are we done with our students? Is it when they graduate? Drop out? Get expelled? Serious question: what if we kept the school open for more mental health help AFTER they've graduated? Kept the weight room open? Provided classes as they transition into adulthood? I would very much like your thoughts on this on. Feel free to email me at: dwettrick@startedupfoudation.org
How do Principal's "assess" great teaching? Jamal breaks it down for me...
JP Sears is a comedian, YouTube sensation, and quite honestly, one of the most deep, intellectual people I've met. While he pokes fun at being "ultra spiritual," he is actually quite compassionate, and wants more people to understand his/her purpose. This interview was a glimpse into a guy that is making people think- through reflection, introspection, and laughter.
Some thoughts while I'm alone with my own thoughts...

Nik Koyama (Twitter: @NikKoyama) is the co-founder of Video Warrior, and is, quite frankly, why I do this podcast. He was Episode #3 over three years ago. I interviewed him when he was just starting out. But I knew he was destined for success. Much like watching LeBron James in high school, you could tell. This episode is FULL of great advice, especially practical steps on how to build a community and understand the difference between "offensive" and "defensive" marketing. Share this one... you'...
