Episode description

This week, Kayla and Bethany of Stanning BTS are back with an episode as epic as Jin's powerhouse vocals!

They kick things off with a passionate recommendation for the new animated film K-Pop: Demon Hunters, praising its original music, celebration of K-Pop fandom, and rich Korean cultural details.

The main event, however, is a deep dive into Jin's "RUNSEOKJIN_EP.TOUR," an experience they nearly missed thanks to a comedy of errors involving late-night parties, a WiFi outage, and a 4:20 AM alarm. Get ready for a detailed breakdown of the concert, from his flawless, unwavering live vocals that left them in awe, to his non-stop running and variety show-style fan interactions. Kayla and Bethany analyze the most memorable moments: the hilarious performance of "Super Tuna" in a traditional Hanbok, the stunningly intimate piano session featuring a surprise rendition of "Abyss," and the epic, fiery staging for "Another Level" that had Jin floating 20 feet in the air. They also celebrate the special guest appearance by Wendy of Red Velvet, the emotional encore of "Epiphany" and "Moon," and the heartwarming sight of his BTS brothers (including a matching Suga and Jimin!) cheering him on. It’s an episode brimming with fan joy, detailed analysis, and a testament to ARMY dedication!

[Kayla]: Consequence podcast network [Kayla]: So we are, of course, going to talk about Jin's concert, but first I have to have to talk about the movie Kpop Demon Hunters. [Kayla]: If you haven't heard about it, I've been so obsessed with it ever since it came out. [Kayla]: It's on Netflix. [Kayla]: And it's amazing. [Kayla]: Like truthfully, I want everyone to watch it like maybe you don't think that like an animated movie is your thing.

[Kayla]: But I think that this movie is such a great representation of K-pop, of Korean culture. [Kayla]: And it's also just such a great storyline. [Kayla]: Has great characters like great messaging over all great development. [Kayla]: And the music is amazing. [Kayla]: There's like ten original songs total for this movie and like they're all really phenomenal. [Kayla]: I've been dying over the soundtrack.

[Kayla]: I've been like listening to the soundtrack and like belting it in my car because it is like that type of music that's like super inspiring and just like powerful. [Kayla]: So anyways, I want everyone to watch it if you haven't already. [Bethany]: I'm sure there's a lot of listeners who have watched it or at least people have recommended it to them because you've recommended it to me. [Bethany]: My sister, Brittany's recommended it to me.

[Bethany]: And then when I was in St. [Bethany]: Louis this weekend, Anthony, he didn't recommend it to me. [Bethany]: He's like, I keep hearing about it and people keep telling me that I need to watch it. [Bethany]: So I just started like a little bit of it, but it was late at night and I thought if I get any more into this, I'm just going to be being up really late to watch it. [Bethany]: But yes, I've heard amazing things.

[Kayla]: Yeah, I mean it's so good and I think like even people who like don't know anything about K-pop or aren't into K-pop would like it. [Kayla]: Like I watched it with Jeremy and he knows a little bit just from me, but like he loved it too. [Kayla]: It's basically like so it's called K-pop Demon Hunters.

[Kayla]: It's based on this group, this trio of girls name Huntrix and they [Kayla]: are like, like, not like reincarnated, but every single generation, like there's three women that are music performers that basically protect the world from demons. [Kayla]: And the music that they sing, the songs that they sing, make this barrier between the human world and the demon world called the Han Moon.

[Kayla]: And so when they perform music together, it like protects the Han Moon and strengthens the Han Moon. [Kayla]: and the demons like the main like the king demon has been trying to like break through break the Han Moon for like millennia basically and this like next try that he's doing is by sending up a group of demons that are gonna be a boy group and they're like they instantly become their competition yeah [Kayla]: And so it makes for a really good story.

[Kayla]: The songs both from Hunterx and the boy group are same with the soccer boys are really catchy and like as somebody who's such a fan of BTS like I see so many members of BTS within the soccer boys like the creators have said like you know there's like Jim and [Kayla]: And Yungi have inspired a member and, you know, like, there's definitely inspiration here and there from other groups too. [Kayla]: Twice actually made an original song for the movie called Take Down.

[Kayla]: It's John Young, G.O. [Kayla]: and Cheyenne are in it. [Kayla]: And so there's just, like, so much work that's gone into it and, like, as a K-pop fan, all these, like, special K-pop moments and, like, things come up. [Kayla]: Like, it feels like the fandom, like, being part of the K-pop fandom is, like, really celebrated. [Kayla]: While making such a great movie so cannot recommend it enough. [Kayla]: I'm probably gonna go home and like rewatch it again tonight.

[Kayla]: It's just obsessed Bethany. [Kayla]: I'm gonna like keep pounding you about it until you finish it. [Bethany]: I'm gonna watch it. [Bethany]: Yeah, I've already started. [Bethany]: Yeah, I just did not have the best time being of like going and watching it. [Bethany]: Yeah, I just have to set time aside to watch it. [Bethany]: But yeah, not only have I heard that it's a representation of Kpop and you see a lot of parallels there, but also K dramas.

[Bethany]: Like one of the things I noticed is like when she bumps into the guy, it like replays it four, five different kinds of different angles to like some dramatic music and it's it's fantastic. [Bethany]: You can see [Bethany]: The Korean culture in it, the K-drama K-pop. [Kayla]: Yeah, your sister Brittany texted a little bit about it. [Kayla]: And that's what she loved about it was that it was like, it felt like it was highlighting K-dramas too.

[Kayla]: Like, those meet cute moments and like that, will they won't they, you know, take a thing? [Kayla]: It was, I mean, yeah. [Kayla]: On top of that, yeah, Korean culture is super highlighted. [Kayla]: There is like a bunch of like real places in Korea that you can see in the movie like, for example, the Seoul Tower or like really famous parks, really famous stadiums and venues.

[Kayla]: And, you know, there's also, there's this cat in this bird combo that's like a mythical combo in Korea, like you can go back thousands of years and see drawings of this combo and that's like a main [Kayla]: you know, element of the movie too. [Kayla]: So, and you see like, Hanbok and it's just like a great representation all around. [Kayla]: So, yeah, it's awesome. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: Looks like the characters have a lot of development too, like great character building.

[Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: Anyways, go watch it. [Bethany]: Yes, definitely. [Bethany]: I am gonna watch it. [Bethany]: So, I can't say like, yeah, go watch it, go watch it. [Bethany]: Because I haven't seen it yet, but I fully believe you. [Bethany]: That it's a good recommendation. [Kayla]: It is. [Kayla]: It is. [Kayla]: My top three songs are your idol free and what it sounds like. [Kayla]: Those are probably like the last three songs in the movie. [Kayla]: But they're so good.

[Kayla]: Like those are the ones that I have on absolute repeat. [Kayla]: The intro song I really like to. [Kayla]: I know you've seen that one because you've seen that far into the movie. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Kayla]: When that started, I was like, oh my god, what a fun way to start the movie. [Bethany]: Right. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Kayla]: Anyways. [Kayla]: Go watch it. [Kayla]: I'll stop talking about it now. [Kayla]: I just had to, because I've been like obsessed with it.

[Kayla]: I mean, it came out. [Bethany]: You're not alone. [Bethany]: I think everyone who's watched it has nothing but praise for it. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Kayla]: Okay, but we do need to talk about Jins concert. [Kayla]: Yes. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: Lots to talk about. [Kayla]: So much to talk about. [Kayla]: Welcome back, where you're hosts. [Bethany]: I'm Kayla. [Bethany]: And I'm Bethany, and this is standing BTS. [Kayla]: You're a favorite informative fan-girl podcast. [Bethany]: All right.

[Bethany]: Today, we're going to hang out for about an hour, and we are talking about run-so-jin episode two where this is his concert that he did. [Bethany]: So we are not going to be seeing him in person for his concert, unfortunately, when he comes to his U.S. [Bethany]: like of his tour. [Bethany]: So we ended up watching the online stream. [Bethany]: So we're going to be talking about night two. [Kayla]: Yeah, you know, because we're day two girlies. [Kayla]: Yeah, yeah, day two.

[Kayla]: So, you know, before we get into it, we do want to say things like comics for being here and for all of your support. [Kayla]: If you want to support us further, have access to our docs, our iconic hangouts, our sound checks, consider joining us on Patreon at patreon.com slash standing BTS. [Bethany]: Thank you for being here for all of your support and of course for listening.

[Bethany]: So we want to preface this on how we ended up setting ourselves up to be able to watch this because it was Korean time and it's been a moment since we've watched like a live stream concert. [Kayla]: I mean, I feel like map of the soul or like one was map of the soul one was probably the last one. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: or like a bang bang con. [Bethany]: Bang bang con somewhere. [Bethany]: It's seven p.m. [Bethany]: in Korea, and it's five a.m. [Bethany]: here.

[Bethany]: So we had to just figure out what we were going to do to make this happen. [Bethany]: So we actually originally planned to watch it at Kayla's apartment here in Kansas City, but we both ended up being in St. [Bethany]: Louis, so we decided to watch it at my parents' house.

[Bethany]: Um, but what ended up happening is Kayla, you were out with some of Jeremy's friends and I was out with my friends and we're like, oh yeah, like we'll just we'll just meet up at my parents house and you're like, hey, I'm gonna be out late. [Bethany]: How about I just like come over there? [Bethany]: Can I just stay the night there? [Bethany]: It's like absolutely like all be up whatever. [Bethany]: So you didn't get to my house until like eleven o'clock at night?

[Kayla]: No, I mean, girl it was like twelve forty. [Bethany]: Was it? [Kayla]: Yeah, because I remember leaving and we were like, it was like a girl's night birthday party. [Kayla]: And I think I was leaving at like twelve twenty five or something like that. [Kayla]: I was like a twenty minute drive. [Kayla]: But I remember saying bye to them like at that time, I was like, I gotta get going. [Bethany]: I texted you and I was like, yeah, because we were in my parents' hot tub.

[Bethany]: And so I'm like, yeah, I'm gonna take a quick shower, whatever. [Bethany]: So yeah, I was like showering at like midnight. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: And yeah. [Bethany]: So it was late, at least to say. [Bethany]: But leading up to this, there were some really bad storms that had come through St. [Bethany]: Louis, which is just like the story of St. [Bethany]: Louis right now is all these terrible storms.

[Bethany]: And something happened to half of my parents' streets like Wi-Fi, like the line with spectrum, got damage somehow, and like only half of the street got affected by it. [Bethany]: My dad went out and bought a new router. [Bethany]: Cory was up really late with him trying to like, [Bethany]: fix it, try to see it. [Bethany]: They were chatting with someone from spectrum online and they could not get the Wi-Fi up. [Bethany]: And I was like, I hate being like, I sounded like such a brat.

[Bethany]: Like, I need Wi-Fi for to stream my concert. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: ridiculous and which by the way since Kayla is moving out of her apartment too like if we were to watch it in Kansas City Kayla sold her couch so we were like in Kansas City planning on being on the floor with like pillows at the very best air mattress yeah [Bethany]: And here we are, now we're in St. [Bethany]: Louis. [Bethany]: My parents don't have Wi-Fi.

[Bethany]: And my sister, thankfully, my sister, who lives in St. [Bethany]: Louis, Bridgett. [Bethany]: She's like, hey, like, I'm ten minutes away. [Bethany]: Like, if you guys want to come over, I know it's early in the morning. [Bethany]: She's like, you're welcome to come over. [Bethany]: You know my garage code. [Bethany]: Like, thank you. [Bethany]: Thank you. [Bethany]: Thank you. [Bethany]: Thank you. [Bethany]: But then it was like, can we, can we Chromecast it?

[Bethany]: Can we, how are we going to like, we wouldn't know until we got there? [Bethany]: Yeah. [Kayla]: You know, like, what type of TV she has, if the TV has, like, airplane or Chromecast capability. [Kayla]: So we were like planning all these community play. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: Some like, Bridget, you have a laptop and she's like, yeah, it's really old. [Bethany]: It runs really slow. [Bethany]: And we end up using my death like old work.

[Bethany]: laptop and I told them I'm like please pack the charger for it because I just want to make sure we have that just in case. [Kayla]: And we needed like an HDMI cable. [Bethany]: And we needed an HDMI cable which I had to steal from like one of their old DVDs. [Kayla]: All over the place. [Bethany]: It was all over the place. [Kayla]: I mean, I know that I got over there at like, twelve, forty.

[Kayla]: But like, we sat downstairs like trying to make a plan for the morning for like, ten, fifteen minutes. [Kayla]: And then when we started to try to go to bed, then Millie was up. [Kayla]: And she was up for like an hour. [Kayla]: She was so bad. [Kayla]: She was crying so much. [Kayla]: So like, you definitely weren't sleeping. [Kayla]: I was sleeping. [Kayla]: Then your dad was like, clinging around the picture.

[Kayla]: I mean it's not like I told Jeremy it's not like he was making like a full course meal like and you I remember you telling him like hey like I'm trying to sleep and it's too I am and he was like oh it's too I am already totally totally oblivious to how late it was yeah [Bethany]: Anyways, so we ended up going to, you went to bed maybe just slightly earlier than me, but all in all, it was like two, two, thirty in the morning before we really sleep.

[Bethany]: And our alarm was reset for four, twenty a.m. [Bethany]: Literally four, twenty a.m. [Bethany]: so we got maybe two hours of sleep. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: And before we know it, we are [Bethany]: I almost went shoeless in your car. [Bethany]: I could not find your socks. [Bethany]: I couldn't find my socks. [Bethany]: I'm like, I don't care. [Bethany]: Like, I don't care. [Bethany]: And you're like, no, go find your socks. [Kayla]: Like, are they downstairs?

[Kayla]: Like, come on. [Kayla]: But we tried to get out of the door. [Kayla]: Like, we both considered just sleeping in our contacts. [Kayla]: So we didn't have to take them out. [Kayla]: We both did take them out. [Kayla]: But then, like, they burned so bad. [Kayla]: And then in the morning.

[Bethany]: Oh, I was like and I also had like been drinking and I before I know you guys drinking Yeah, but like when I first got out of my bed I was like whoa You know, I think like I wasn't like a drunk or anything I was looking up as like if for some reason we're like two tired and one of us is feeling like you know just can't drive right now Like the Uber was like thirty bucks something whatever like I'll pay for it, but that [Kayla]: That didn't need to happen.

[Kayla]: We were totally sober by then. [Kayla]: It wasn't like we were going crazy before. [Bethany]: Now we weren't. [Bethany]: But yeah, I was thinking about the sleep deprivation honestly. [Bethany]: So yeah, we end up getting over to my sisters and [Bethany]: My, the laptop, like, couldn't reach very far. [Bethany]: We were able to plug it in with the HDMI, but it was like kind of a whole fiasco just getting that connected.

[Kayla]: Yeah, because I was so sleep deprived that I unplugged a cord from our HDMI too. [Kayla]: And instead of plugging in your HDMI cord from your dad into her computer, I plugged in that cord. [Kayla]: So like, they were just like not plugged into the TV going to the right place and we're like, what the fuck? [Kayla]: It wasn't a TV, it wasn't smart TV, but not one that was new enough to be able to airplane or shouldn't have a Chromecast or laptops the only option here.

[Kayla]: I think we got the laptop set up like literally three minutes before the concert. [Bethany]: Yeah, right before the concert started. [Bethany]: In the midst of all of this, we get the concert out for like, okay, yes. [Bethany]: And then my dad's computer is so old and I can tell that he's probably had this eye cloud sign in pop up that consistently pops up and he just like exits out of it because he doesn't want to like figure it out.

[Bethany]: So the entire concert, this eye cloud sign in kept popping up every couple minutes. [Bethany]: the entire concert. [Bethany]: I had to click out of it so that we could see Jen on the screen. [Bethany]: Right. [Bethany]: But because the HDMI cord was only so long, we couldn't sit on the couch. [Bethany]: We ended up having to be on the floor anyway. [Kayla]: Well, don't watch. [Kayla]: There's still on the floor. [Kayla]: It was just meant to be.

[Kayla]: You did get really good at clicking out of it with your toe, though. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Kayla]: Like sit up all the way and move. [Kayla]: That was pretty much a promo. [Kayla]: I thought it would be so funny too. [Kayla]: It wasn't even like a pop-up where you could just click and it could stay in the background and then have the window up.

[Bethany]: It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just- It would just

[Kayla]: When I was like leaving Jeremy's on Saturday, you know, like he's was his parents right now before we move in together and his mom, I was telling her like, okay, I won't be back until sometime on Sunday because I'm going to this party and then I'm watching this concert at five in the morning and she was like, oh my god. [Kayla]: Gosh, I can't believe you guys are doing that and like honestly it's like nothing new.

[Kayla]: You know, it's been a while but like I feel like we're used to it, but it has I mean the years I felt the years since we've done it. [Kayla]: I'm like on older now. [Kayla]: Definitely older now. [Bethany]: Definitely older now. [Bethany]: Man, and Millie has been sleeping through the night, but she just decided that she was gonna wake up at two in the morning. [Bethany]: I was like, got to be kidding me. [Bethany]: Oh, yeah.

[Kayla]: Well, it was tougher too because you were in the same room with her. [Kayla]: So you could, like, forget her. [Kayla]: Yeah, you told me that she was just like standing up in the crib staring at staring crying like that's so funny to me. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: I mean, not in the moment, but she sees me right there. [Bethany]: So yeah. [Bethany]: It just totally out of her routine, right? [Bethany]: Babies need their routines.

[Kayla]: All of us to say, we went through like a comedy of errors so much to watch this concert, but immediately upon starting it, we're like, oh, this is worth it. [Kayla]: It's so worth it. [Kayla]: Like, you know, of course it was. [Kayla]: It was just great, like right when it began. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: We're just going to go through the set list and talk about what songs he sang, what the performances look like, and just our experience watched.

[Bethany]: Yeah. [Kayla]: So if you're saving any of this until you go see him in tour, then maybe save this episode for later. [Bethany]: It'll come back to you. [Kayla]: Um, so he started with running wild. [Kayla]: I'll be there with the clouds and falling and we really loved like these four songs as like the intro, particularly like the first three of them were so good. [Kayla]: Um, I mean, running wild being like a hit track. [Kayla]: from happy, such a good song.

[Kayla]: I think like it's a crowd favorite for sure. [Kayla]: I think it's a great way to start off the concert until like raise up to energy. [Kayla]: I do have to say we both thought it was funny. [Kayla]: We kind of cracked up a little bit how he just like popped up on stage and started it. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: Like there was no like, there was no like VCR, like no introduction, nothing. [Kayla]: He just disappeared. [Kayla]: He just appeared and sort of like running down the stage.

[Kayla]: Pretty funny entrance, like nonchalant, very nonchalant of him. [Kayla]: but going into all be there after that was like you know it was so great because he's here with us in concert and you know he's doing something that you know when we first had this tour announced very unexpected that he would do this and then with the clouds in particular being so early on

[Kayla]: I love this as like a message to his members of like, look at where we are now, look at where we're going, you know, because we really talked about that song when we did the Echo album review of that song, feeling like it was from him to his members. [Kayla]: And so for him to put that super early in the set list, like up there in importance, we thought that was really awesome. [Bethany]: Yeah, I also feel like we've talked about how it's very much.

[Bethany]: BTS army song too in terms of how it sounds just like true BTS music like it's a kind of like or cosmos similar kind of song and so it just set the stage for the concert and maybe feel a little bit of my BTS army feels and got me in the spirit to be a part of this concert with him yeah totally [Bethany]: Yeah, and then he did falling, which was fantastic. [Bethany]: Beautiful. [Bethany]: Beautiful.

[Bethany]: And then he ended up singing, don't see you love me, which was gorgeous, but right at the end of the song, my laptop died. [Bethany]: And it gave, like, zero notice. [Bethany]: It was like, ten minutes, low battery, ten minutes or something like that. [Kayla]: Like, two percent battery loves, and then literally instantly died, two seconds later. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Bethany]: Like, no time. [Bethany]: I popped up real quick.

[Bethany]: Grab the charger and on my way to go plug it in, it just died. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: So this may be just a little bit there. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: But once we got it back up and running, then we ended up seeing him play this telepathy game. [Bethany]: And this is where Army got to choose Jin's outfit to wear. [Bethany]: And so he ended up having like three different outfits that Army could choose from. [Bethany]: And it was like zero, one or two.

[Bethany]: And the army is on night two, decided with the second outfit. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: And he's like, I'm hearing you want to. [Bethany]: You want to, which ended up being hand-box, formal hand-box. [Bethany]: And he's like, OK, OK. [Bethany]: So he goes to change. [Bethany]: And you don't normally, when they go backstage to change, there's a VCR, or there's something to entertain the audience in the meantime. [Bethany]: He just had a countdown.

[Bethany]: Like it was just like a sixty-second countdown clock that was ticking. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: And we just got to wait for him until the clock was done that he reappeared. [Kayla]: This like genuinely made us laugh. [Kayla]: We're watching because it's just so different.

[Kayla]: So off the wall and it could just imagine like when he's putting this concert together, working with everybody like brainstorming, set list and you know, outfit changes, how are we gonna do this and that, you know, he's like just put a countdown. [Kayla]: You know, like [Kayla]: Like, that'll entertain them. [Bethany]: Right. [Kayla]: Jacob had it easy, where he could like have dancers on the stage or whatever. [Kayla]: You had VCRs, Jins like, Countdown, that's fine.

[Bethany]: Yeah. [Kayla]: But it was just, I think it was comical. [Kayla]: That's not, he didn't do that. [Kayla]: The whole concert either, but it was just funny. [Kayla]: But it is kind of game show ask. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Kayla]: Countdown. [Kayla]: I think so too. [Kayla]: He also, I think he mentioned with the Hanbok like, man, that I don't know if I can get into this outfit in sixty seconds, like, sure you want me to do this one? [Bethany]: Yeah. [Kayla]: challenge for him too.

[Kayla]: Yeah, of course he did it though. [Bethany]: And then he came out in handbox for super tuna. [Bethany]: Yes. [Bethany]: And what I just really remember about super tuna was him running across the stage like [Bethany]: kind of arm was back behind him like strict upright torso, but like legs moving comically. [Kayla]: Like he was just doing a little goofy. [Kayla]: You know, when you're playing animal crossing, how your character runs.

[Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: That was exactly how he was playing. [Kayla]: That is exactly it. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: That's the perfect description for it. [Kayla]: He'd have to like sometimes hold the hat a little bit so the hat doesn't like blow off. [Kayla]: It was very cute. [Kayla]: Maybe that's why he was bridging. [Kayla]: When he was just trying to keep that hat on top of his head. [Kayla]: He did say after he performed super tune. [Kayla]: He was like this outfit.

[Kayla]: It is a little bit hard to run in. [Kayla]: But he was dedicated. [Kayla]: I mean he was all over the stage in that. [Kayla]: And I mean also belting. [Kayla]: And like it was so impressive how much he was running and singing. [Kayla]: Like and singing so well. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: So anyways. [Bethany]: He ran a lot. [Kayla]: He did wrong. [Bethany]: He was running wild. [Bethany]: He was running wild. [Bethany]: And yeah, run so gen. [Bethany]: I mean, the very show.

[Kayla]: Yeah. [Bethany]: I, if there's two things that I can save with confidence about this or like to summarize this concert was one, he ran like the whole time in saying beautiful vocals. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: His vocals, like, I mean, his vocals were top notch. [Bethany]: I felt like right out from the gate when he first started, it was just blowing my mind how great his live vocals are. [Bethany]: Like, he really can sing. [Bethany]: Like, we know this.

[Bethany]: And, you know, we talk about him belting and really delivering his lines whenever it's his part in a BTS song. [Bethany]: But hearing just solo tracks live, it was like, [Bethany]: I would compare it to Sydney, the wake performance in Sydney, like that level of just fantastic vocals from him. [Bethany]: It's just something about hearing his voice live. [Bethany]: It's like better than the actual track. [Kayla]: Totally.

[Kayla]: I mean, [Kayla]: We know that Jin is a super confident person, especially about his looks, and he knows that he's funny and whatever, but I think him, the way he talks about himself as his role in BTS, he's often said, I'm not that special, you guys do so much more, whatever, but even within the first few songs, by the time we got to super tune the songs even before that, I never want to hear this man ever downplay his skill ever again, because

[Kayla]: like him literally running around the stage and like having amazing, unwavering vocals, like the breath control is just phenomenal, the vocals beautiful, like you said, literally sounds like the studio. [Kayla]: You know, I mean, it was so impressive, he's so fit, he's so talented, I was like, he's incredible, like I was like so in awe. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Bethany]: He did not look like he was getting out of breath or anything.

[Kayla]: Oh, no. [Kayla]: He made it look easy. [Kayla]: And he barely took breaks too. [Kayla]: He, I mean, obviously he had like tiny breaks when he did outfit changes, but he only did a couple. [Kayla]: And those were like for one minute long. [Kayla]: Very short. [Kayla]: And yeah, when he was doing each song, like he never seemed like he got winded. [Kayla]: There was one song.

[Kayla]: it was towards the end so I don't remember which one it was specifically but I remember he was jumping a lot he was like jumping up and down and putting his arms out maybe it was like the astronaut and he was literally just jumping and then went right into like belting the next line yeah like not out of breath at all I'm like how like how are you capable so impressed so good

[Kayla]: One of the parts that we really, really recognized his vocals was the next part of the concert where he came out. [Kayla]: He did another outfit change right after Superintendent Hanbok, like he was only in it for that song. [Kayla]: So during this outfit change, he left a karaoke version of I'll be there on to play. [Kayla]: So I thought that was a really cute. [Kayla]: He was really good about getting the audience involved.

[Kayla]: Um, you know, he would say like army, can you do this for me if you can say like challenge accepted, you know, just like run Jen. [Kayla]: He's going to legislate about that. [Kayla]: Yeah, he's saying challenge accepted. [Kayla]: Yeah, he's like say it. [Bethany]: You know, right now. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: So there was like a few different songs that could have been the version and he had like a wheel to spin and it lands it on all be there.

[Kayla]: So [Kayla]: he left us with that with like the lyrics and it even had like the romanization of the lyrics you could sing along if you don't know Korean and that was cool and he came back out in like a more plain outfit like an all black outfit black jacket black shirt underneath and but at this part he sat down at a piano

[Kayla]: And I do have to say at night two the piano like messed up a little bit because it was like an electric piano looking like it's a regular piano and it was in the wrong key and he started to get like a tiny bit flustered a tiny bit worried like he's like kind of look around like oh I don't know what to do and then like one of the other musicians came up from behind him and like fixed it for him. [Kayla]: Yeah, he was like oh thank you. [Kayla]: Thank you.

[Kayla]: You know [Kayla]: But his professionalism was just immaculate. [Kayla]: He was able to brush that off and go right into the song and act like it didn't affect him at all or throw him off. [Bethany]: And there are some musicians who would have thrown a fit about that. [Bethany]: There are definitely with how popular Jen is.

[Bethany]: I think if it was anyone else in his shoes, [Bethany]: There are musicians who could have gotten a real big head and been like, you're making me like stupid. [Bethany]: I mean, I'll take it off about it. [Kayla]: He could have even gone the other way, you know, how sometimes he like playfully teases like gets mad at somebody, you know, but like not really like he could have done that too, but he didn't. [Kayla]: He was just, you know, yeah.

[Bethany]: very very composed but like told us like after the fact like oh like I will nervous yeah yeah but the the guy who came out um one of the like song producers or whoever came out and was like oh change it for him and he was so grateful for it he was like very very kind yeah thank you thank you yeah I thought that was a really sweet moment and like honestly he just did such a great job with that [Kayla]: He did. [Kayla]: And so then he went in and he started to play.

[Kayla]: I will come to you from his happy album. [Kayla]: And this is such a beautiful song. [Kayla]: I think it's the last one on the album. [Kayla]: Already on the album, it's a very like stripped-down song. [Kayla]: But here it was literally just his piano and just his vocals. [Kayla]: No other like backing from the other musicians. [Kayla]: He did have a live band just like we saw with Yungi Solo concert and Jay Hope Solo concerts, which we love the live band.

[Kayla]: You and I very early in the concert said oh we love that he has the live band like it really suits his music style in particular that kind of like rock pop style to have it But we were like when did he learn how to play piano?

[Kayla]: um and he probably learned it so well specifically to do this yeah I wouldn't be surprised um he did look like he was really focusing on it and we know like he like was actually playing it like they showed shots of his fingers on the keyboard you know it's not like that was just a track that he was singing to or anything um [Kayla]: So I will come to you as beautiful and then afterwards he did a best, which immediately we were like, oh my god, a best, like what a deep cut.

[Kayla]: A best is his first solo single that he ever released in twenty twenty. [Kayla]: And that's like a very slow, very emotional song, very like vulnerable song from him too. [Kayla]: the first time that we really got that side of him. [Kayla]: And it was perfect right here in the set list coming off of I will come to you and like sticking with that, you know, just piano, just voice and just letting his verbal stand out.

[Bethany]: This is a song that was totally unexpected, but I can see how so many armies would be so grateful and begging for this song to be performed. [Bethany]: And fearful that we would probably never get a live performance of it. [Bethany]: And so this is fantastic that he chose this as one of the songs for the set list because it really is such a beautiful song. [Bethany]: And like you've been saying, like it really was just him in the piano.

[Bethany]: No backtrack, no other like instruments really involved. [Bethany]: Like it was really just him. [Bethany]: And so this was a part of the concert that like, of course, we've been praising his vocals all this time. [Bethany]: But it was just a real intimate moment, just hearing raw vocals, raw piano, all him. [Bethany]: And it's the song that we, it was like really, I want to say it was a sound card release.

[Bethany]: But it was just like one of the festivals songs or something that got [Kayla]: never thought to hear this song live. [Bethany]: Not on an album, not anywhere, you would have to really go hunting for it. [Bethany]: So love that he performed a best. [Bethany]: And in this manner. [Kayla]: And in this manner, just to like really let it shine and let his vocal shine. [Kayla]: Um, right after he had a best, he said, oh, my favorite song from echo background.

[Kayla]: This is like what I was waiting for. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: I would have came on. [Kayla]: I was like, hell, yeah. [Bethany]: He got off in the piano at this point. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: He got a fan. [Bethany]: I just remember him like backing up the piano stool standing up and then background comes on and you were like, oh, yes. [Kayla]: Oh, yes. [Bethany]: Powerhouse vocalist. [Bethany]: And like got a stand for this one.

[Bethany]: Yeah. [Kayla]: The musicians, you know, his band started to come in a little bit. [Kayla]: Background was so beautiful. [Kayla]: Oh, my God. [Kayla]: Like, [Kayla]: Just continuing to praise his vocals like we knew it was gonna be good, but oh, I think it blew me away. [Kayla]: I was one of my favorite performances of the night just because of like knowing the meaning of the song, wanting to hear those vocals and that like ballad so bad.

[Kayla]: And for this one he had like down the runway towards like the second stage. [Kayla]: He had like little stairs to sit on with like candles on the side of them and he sat down and he sat down on those stairs to like passionately sing the runs at the [Kayla]: Oh, yeah. [Kayla]: Oh, shit. [Kayla]: And then there was one part that made us laugh here, which was like, right after he sang like the second run, he looked down and like blew a bug off of his hands.

[Bethany]: Yeah. [Kayla]: Like he just, he could ignore like all the sweat dripping off his face, whatever. [Kayla]: But like it was just so funny. [Kayla]: It took you out of the moment just like for a second. [Kayla]: You know, it just made us crack up. [Kayla]: Like did he just blow a bug off? [Bethany]: Like in between runs, you know. [Bethany]: He's just like, [Bethany]: And then got right back into it. [Bethany]: But I mean, we're watching it home.

[Bethany]: And so it was like ultra zoomed in on him. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: Like we see him do this. [Bethany]: No one else. [Kayla]: I mean, I don't know what they were showing. [Kayla]: They were probably showing him that close on the screen. [Kayla]: That's true. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: Oh, watching the screen. [Bethany]: Professionalism. [Kayla]: I'd like to like let up for just one half a second to get that bug. [Kayla]: And then we're like, well, he is performing outside.

[Kayla]: Like, that's the first time we really thought about it. [Kayla]: Like, I know later on with heart on the window, we saw like, Jenny kind of swipe in front of her face to get like, bugs away. [Kayla]: And I'm like, Wendy, Wendy, Wendy, yeah. [Kayla]: And so we're like, oh, man, like, it is dust. [Kayla]: You know, like, in the summer. [Kayla]: Yeah, bugs were out. [Kayla]: But that was just funny. [Kayla]: Oh god, and then after background, he did another level.

[Kayla]: And I think for you and I, this might have been our favorite one of our favorites for sure. [Kayla]: I mean, this is really up there because this, the stage for this one was fucking epic. [Kayla]: For another level, he was strapped in to a platform that rose like twenty feet in the air at the second stage.

[Kayla]: just like a circle platform so it was just him it looked like he was just floating you know if you were if you were sitting in the crowd it would look like he's floating in the air and the like the lights were like fiery there's a bunch of smoke and fireworks and it was like purples and reds and oranges and yellows and just like I mean super powerful lighting and everything on the screens behind him just like visually incredible it was ever

[Bethany]: It matches the song because the song itself like I'm just so grateful that he did another level because that's one of my favorite songs off of happy and it is an epic sounding song and so it just fit so perfectly this entire backdrop behind him Yeah, but him being at second stage So he's really at the forefront of all of this lift elevated up on another level [Bethany]: with this like background, you know, just like fiery behind.

[Kayla]: Delivering the super passionate performance and like all of the visuals behind him are like reinforcing it. [Kayla]: Like it was like it was like something of a myth, you know? [Kayla]: Like it was something that like you could only like [Kayla]: make it a movie or something. [Kayla]: It was epic. [Bethany]: It was so cool.

[Kayla]: I remember telling you, I just need to see like the still shot like a photo of like right in front of like him from the crowd with all of these visuals right behind him because it would just like, I bet it would be so cool. [Kayla]: Like to experience that live in person. [Bethany]: Yes. [Bethany]: Very neat performance. [Bethany]: Yeah, I definitely one of the best of the night. [Bethany]: I think so for sure. [Kayla]: That's like one of the most memorable for me.

[Kayla]: um next up he did heart on the window and he brought out Wendy for this um he she came out like right when her part was starting so it wasn't like he brought her on stage first so you know it was kind of a surprise to the fans um I think I didn't go and look but I think I heard that Yena he brought out Yena for um for loser on night one so people are probably expecting and maybe he'll bring out Wendy but like Wendy like she's busy she's a huge superstar

[Bethany]: She's got a radio show, a part of Red Velvet. [Bethany]: Yeah, she's got a lot going on. [Bethany]: Busy schedule. [Kayla]: Right, but she came out and they fucking killed it together. [Kayla]: Like, man, they're vocals together. [Kayla]: I remember us commenting on that and heart in the window for the happy album review. [Kayla]: It was just like we loved how they worked together.

[Kayla]: Um, that song has some really difficult notes to hit and like to hear Wendy hit those live and like, I mean, they're passionate together. [Kayla]: They kind of, you know, fed off each other a little bit, looking at each other. [Kayla]: Um, it was, it was a really great performance. [Bethany]: It was a fantastic performance. [Bethany]: Her voice is just so well known and is one of the best in Korea.

[Bethany]: So it's just such an honor for her, her to have been there to be a feature on this song. [Bethany]: And for me, I just couldn't help but to think about like Red Velvet and BTS kind of debuted around the same time, like there's some part of the same like K-pop generation. [Bethany]: And so seeing these two like really notable figures in this industry, singing together live on stage, it just was really an experience that I don't think I would ever have gotten.

[Bethany]: So really grateful for it, great that she got to show up and honestly, [Bethany]: I just like her vocals are so great, but it just even highlighted Jin's vocals even more. [Bethany]: I'm like damn, Jin is up there and like, I mean, one of the best vocalists in K-pop. [Bethany]: I can say because he's standing next to one of the best vocalists in K-pop and they sound fantastic together.

[Kayla]: Yeah, I mean, completely holding his own [Kayla]: Yeah, I agree so much and I just I Wendy of course was so humble and so sweet she was like I was really nervous but really excited to perform here for army like you know of course army was so excited to see her but I just thought that was really sweet because it is I think massive I don't know any other opportunity that like a BTS member and a red velvet member could like come together to perform live on stage and

[Bethany]: for something like this it's a special event that's for sure and I just have to make note here too at the end of the performance when she's like bowing they're bowing through each other they're thinking each other and she goes and walks off gin turns around to the crowd and does like a pretty big like sigh of relief like he was maybe a little nervous to perform with her because she's just such an icon [Kayla]: Yeah, she has such an icon.

[Kayla]: And I think that was like one of the most iconic moments of the whole concert. [Bethany]: It was to bring Wendy out. [Bethany]: It was pretty cool for the show. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: So after this, we did a little sing along game with Jen and Army. [Bethany]: So Army ended up seeing a song on the screen. [Bethany]: And we were supposed to sing it. [Bethany]: Jen didn't know what the song was. [Bethany]: He was sitting with like him. [Bethany]: What was over him?

[Kayla]: Like a dead disk on it, like above hand. [Bethany]: Yeah, very variety show. [Bethany]: Like if he couldn't guess the song right, then it would like hit him in the head. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: And so it was just a really fun game for us to be able to play with Jen. [Bethany]: And so we would sing the song. [Bethany]: And well, yeah, we would, was it humming or singing? [Kayla]: It was singing, but there wasn't any background music.

[Bethany]: Yeah. [Kayla]: We would just put like the lyrics on the screen, Acapella. [Kayla]: Jen couldn't see the screen, so it doesn't know what song it is. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: Army did a pretty good job. [Kayla]: I always had a really good job, but the first one was idol, and Jean started hearing it, and then sitting in his chair started doing the choreography.

[Kayla]: And then he guessed it was idol, and he stood up, and they played the real part of idol, and he did the choreography. [Kayla]: The choreography ought like fifty percent. [Kayla]: He was like, what can I remember how to do this? [Bethany]: Yeah, that was cute.

[Bethany]: And then we sang the astronaut, and it just was warming my heart, because he was laughing and smiling ear to ear, you could tell that [Bethany]: He loved hearing Army sing to him and we kind of joke to each other like Jen would be like no using for me and then after that he the song was loser featuring Yena and so it was kind of cool to also hear Army being like [Bethany]: And he got to kick out of that too.

[Bethany]: And so what he ended up doing is he kind of like intentionally got it wrong. [Kayla]: He knew it was loser. [Kayla]: He said, I know what it is, but I want this disc to hit me because I think you just thought it would be funny. [Bethany]: Okay. [Kayla]: And so he guessed something else. [Bethany]: He guessed something else.

[Bethany]: But what's so hilarious about this is the disc of stout and hits him on the head and he immediately turns to look over at the stage director like, [Bethany]: How could you do that? [Bethany]: You know the guy really hard, but he's totally joking. [Bethany]: And you can see this stage director getting like bashful and like doesn't know what to say because he's like clearly being silly, but also serious enough that you're not like too sure like you might get a little flustered.

[Bethany]: And so that was kind of funny. [Kayla]: Jim was like, this is your last day. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Bethany]: Yeah, it was a fun part of the concert. [Bethany]: And so after this, he ends up going into loser featuring Yana. [Bethany]: Great to hear this song. [Bethany]: I felt like we anticipated this song was gonna be a part of this atlas, because it just goes hard. [Bethany]: It's such a fantastic song.

[Bethany]: And hearing his vocals again, not only the belting we talked about the belting, but if anything I learned from this concert too, is he knows how to do some runs. [Bethany]: Oh yeah. [Bethany]: Oh yeah. [Bethany]: Do these vocal runs so well? [Kayla]: And I feel like, you know, in BTS Army, like, people recognize like, Jungkook's runs, you know, or something like that. [Kayla]: Like, Jungkook is really known for that.

[Kayla]: But damn, give Jin the runs, like, in the songs because he can really do it. [Bethany]: It really can. [Kayla]: Also, what was great about this performance was he put lyrics on the screen and wanted army to sing Yena's part. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Kayla]: And so it made it again really dynamic and like getting army involved in the concert besides just watching and experiencing it.

[Kayla]: Another thing I want to point out is like normally at a BTS concert they'll say like scream you know like silly kid oh [Kayla]: you know like they'll say yell it out for me and he only said that one time the whole concert. [Kayla]: Normally it was getting army involved in other ways like he didn't have to say like scream for me out. [Bethany]: Yeah he didn't. [Kayla]: He's like be louder.

[Kayla]: Yeah they just like challenge accepted and they're [Kayla]: Yeah or sing this song with the army like he just like would put us on the spot give us the lyrics and like you know it was fun it was like we got a little do out with him that is such a great point he also to really knows how to entertain oh yeah because he'd really didn't do hardly any choreo or anything like that for the entire concert

[Bethany]: We talked about how he was running around on the stage and really engaging the crowd. [Bethany]: But I mean, just for being a vocalist and doing vocal songs mostly without choreo and like these more like ballet songs, there was not a dull moment. [Bethany]: Like we were fully enthralled by him and like very entertained. [Bethany]: And I do think that his variety show might be a part of that too. [Bethany]: Like he is just a great entertainer as well.

[Kayla]: I agree and I love that that's why he kept like that variety show element to this concert. [Kayla]: I think it suits him so well. [Bethany]: So after this the iconic rope it he was going to perform rope it for this one. [Bethany]: He changed jackets and it was kind of funny because he's like hold up.

[Bethany]: I got a change real quick and he went over and he took off his like black jacket that he had on and you can hear army like oh [Bethany]: Because there's like it's silent right there. [Kayla]: He doesn't hear the film music. [Kayla]: There's nothing. [Bethany]: This is just screaming in all he's doing. [Bethany]: I mean he's has a short on but he just goes to put the red jacket on and he doesn't think anything of it. [Bethany]: He doesn't think he doesn't do anything.

[Kayla]: I just thought it was like like a lot of so funny like live outfit change on stage. [Kayla]: Yeah, you know. [Kayla]: Yeah, rare. [Kayla]: Very rare. [Bethany]: But there was just a little bit of choreo for rope it. [Bethany]: He also had a nice cowboy hat. [Bethany]: We figured he would probably have some kind of cowboy hat.

[Bethany]: But just a tad a little bit of choreo like he did a lot of line dancing kind of like stuff where like his feet were together and he was just for a little shuffle house. [Bethany]: And then, yeah, just a lot of little leg kick movement. [Bethany]: He played with his hat, bending down, bringing his leg back to the country. [Kayla]: Like a big country western bow type of film man.

[Kayla]: And then he had that, during the rope hit, lyrics, he was like actually not like he was spinning that last. [Kayla]: So, just like we all do. [Bethany]: We did get a shot of the crowd, but we were saying, we wish that [Bethany]: There was a little bit of a shot of the crowd because Army better have been doing that last so wrote by with him. [Bethany]: I'm sure they were. [Bethany]: Yeah, thank you. [Kayla]: I can't. [Kayla]: So good. [Kayla]: I'm glad he performed it.

[Kayla]: We know we would. [Kayla]: Me too. [Kayla]: It was amazing. [Kayla]: After, he did take off the cowboy hat, but he left the red jacket on. [Kayla]: And then he went into this BTS medley. [Kayla]: And I feel like we should have known he was going to do this, but I loved how he did this. [Kayla]: Each of the members on their solo tours have done some form of BTS songs or medley's in their own unique way.

[Kayla]: And for Jen, he really mostly took like [Kayla]: probably like his favorite lines from those songs and perform them and like you know it might have like a moment of another member but he really like kept like his shiny moments from those songs and went in instead of like doing the whole song and singing for the other members or whatever and I love the way that he put that together. [Kayla]: So he did some dynamite, he did some butter.

[Kayla]: And these two songs made us feel so nostalgic. [Kayla]: It's like bringing us back to that era, their first English music. [Kayla]: Just, I mean, I always, when I hear those songs, I think about those music videos so much. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Bethany]: It's bizarre though that it feels nostalgic. [Bethany]: To think that dynamite and butter are now older songs. [Bethany]: Because so much, it's been five years. [Bethany]: Yeah, that's crazy.

[Bethany]: So much time is lapse since dynamite and butter. [Bethany]: Totally. [Bethany]: Yeah, but it really brought me back. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: And then he went into microcosmos, which I think was my favorite part of this medley because it has truly been since like, I mean, [Kayla]: probably permission to dance in LA, since we heard that song live, like also five years ago, but that song is from like, twenty-eighteen. [Kayla]: And that is such a BTS and army song together.

[Kayla]: That's like a song that you want to hear, you want to see that army bombs light up like stars, you, it like makes us all feel so connected in like this whole universe that we have together. [Kayla]: And so I love that he included that song here too. [Bethany]: That's like an army time into the concert on course. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: Your typical BTS army song there at the end of the concert to say goodbye.

[Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: And also like his vocals in that song. [Kayla]: I know we're just breathing about his vocals, but amazing. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: Immaculate. [Kayla]: And then he did spring day. [Kayla]: And I love that he did this. [Kayla]: It made me think about how they had just performed at Jay Hope's concert. [Kayla]: And he put it into, you know, his own settlers too. [Kayla]: And he did some of the spring day.

[Kayla]: And just to hear like him and army again singing the lyrics together. [Kayla]: Oh, and he also had like spring day music video visuals on the screen, like the carousel. [Kayla]: And you saw the train. [Bethany]: And I was like, oh, this is when I got a little emotional. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: And we said if we were there in concert, we probably would have been crying.

[Kayla]: I remember you specifically saying, if it wasn't five in the morning and I was like deprived, I'd probably be crying. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: Yeah, for sure. [Bethany]: Well, loved the BTS medley. [Bethany]: It was, of course, all of the members have done this with their solo concerts, but it was nice to get this with Jen. [Bethany]: And then he performed the astronaut [Bethany]: He looked stunning and gorgeous during the astronaut. [Bethany]: I don't know what it was.

[Bethany]: I mean the whole concert. [Bethany]: Yes, but something about the astronaut and he had a moment during his performance where he kissed us. [Bethany]: Like he didn't do his typical like hand kiss like blowing a kiss to us. [Bethany]: It was just like full plump gin lips.

[Bethany]: kissing right at like him throw it a little bit towards you and I just I mean we were laying on the floor and I was like taking a back like he's thousands of miles away and like I can feel the impact of that we're both like squealing you know like oh my god he just kissed us yeah [Kayla]: That was so memorable. [Bethany]: He had a moment during the astronaut two where he laid down completely flat on the stage and was still belting these vocals and it was just again.

[Bethany]: So just captivating and you're like, wow, how are you doing that? [Bethany]: You're laying flat and you somehow still have the lung capacity to sing these vocals. [Bethany]: And there were fireworks too. [Bethany]: It was very much a theatrical kind of ending. [Bethany]: You can tell that the concert's ending to a close here. [Bethany]: And then he ended up doing nothing without your love. [Kayla]: He's a very sweet way to end the concert.

[Kayla]: His last message here to Army, I'm nothing without your love. [Kayla]: Of course, he has an encore after that. [Kayla]: But when he's saying like these are the last songs, you know, and it's the astronaut and nothing without your love, like it's very meaningful.

[Kayla]: But the astronaut being like, I mean, like his first solo song in chapter two right before he went into the military and then nothing with that your love being his most like recent like not his recent hit track because that was don't say you love me, but it was the second song on echo and I just love like that kind of ending meaning. [Kayla]: He seemed so happy. [Kayla]: I like, you said when he laid down on the stage, I love those aerial shots of him.

[Kayla]: He looked incredible and, yeah, like, to still belt it. [Kayla]: Very impressive. [Kayla]: So impressive. [Bethany]: So then we had the little classic time where he goes down beneath the stage and you can tell he's changing it to his outfit, the more casual clothes for the encore. [Bethany]: And we have this moment with Army where we get to see a lot of their signs.

[Bethany]: all the armies are who are from different areas around the world, showing off where they're from, and we saw some Argentinian armies, some Mexican army, Russian army, yeah, oh yeah, people from all over. [Kayla]: Yeah, the army time is always really cool to see. [Kayla]: And then Jen comes out for the encore. [Kayla]: He's wearing all of his tour merch, so cute. [Kayla]: I really love the white t-shirt that he was wearing underneath the plaid shirt.

[Kayla]: It was like, it had a big red heartness out of worldwide hands. [Kayla]: I'm across the front of it. [Kayla]: Like, of course, that's a shirt that he has. [Kayla]: It's incredible. [Kayla]: And then, you know, we're going into the encore like what else does he have to perform? [Kayla]: And I was like, well, he hasn't done a Piffney yet. [Kayla]: And I think you said, well, he hasn't done moon yet. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Kayla]: And so he did a Piffney and then moon and then to me today.

[Kayla]: Oh my God. [Kayla]: like literally such a perfect way to end this concert. [Kayla]: I think these are like some of his most meaningful songs and I mean epiphany is like I think my favorite song from Jen maybe.

[Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: I mean so many of them are so great but like I have really special meaning connection to that song and so when he performed that song and to hear him perform it live like for the first time in years like I think the [Kayla]: Probably the last time I've heard that was when we were in Chicago. [Kayla]: Oh, yeah. [Kayla]: Love the speakers. [Kayla]: I'll speak for yourself, yeah. [Kayla]: Literally like beginning of time. [Bethany]: I think so too.

[Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: And honestly, I think it might be my favorite solo song from BTS's Discography for Jen. [Bethany]: Epiphany is just so, so special. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: And again, I felt like this could have been one of those songs that when you were there, you probably would have cried.

[Bethany]: It was just so [Bethany]: stunning to hear his vocals live singing this and he even talked a little bit about like yeah army I heard that you really wanted this song yeah like I'm gonna do it he said this was like the most requested song to hear and I don't doubt that I know I think if I were their live in person I definitely would be crying like through that whole song [Bethany]: Jim and posted on his Instagram a picture of Jen performing Epiphany.

[Bethany]: And his caption was something of sorts of like one of my favorite songs. [Bethany]: So even Jim and his like a true army, Jim's name. [Bethany]: And like Epiphany's the best. [Bethany]: That's right. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: So good. [Bethany]: But Moon was great too after that because Moon does have a little bit more of an uplifting spirit to it. [Bethany]: Not quite as emotional as Epiphany. [Bethany]: But still very, very meaningful and such a sweet message.

[Bethany]: that he's telling Army is what a special moment to for him to be like, having that Army him conversation and getting to perform that live. [Bethany]: We talked about how we were deprived of Moon because this is when the pandemic hit and he was going to perform this song for Army with the intention of it being more fun and he ended up having to do it.

[Kayla]: virtually for everyone like you never got that like full moment I think he's only performed it before these concerts like live like maybe two times maybe like last summer after he got back from the military I think was like the first time they ever performed it live for army um but yeah it was just one of those like kind of robbed moments for him so the fact that he gets to tour with the song now and that it's in the encore is super special yeah yeah

[Kayla]: And to me today, I mean when we did the Echo album review and we got into these lyrics like what he's talking about here like I could cry just thinking about like how vulnerable but also hopeful he is in these lyrics. [Kayla]: I think it is such a perfect way to and the concert is you know it's so beautiful. [Bethany]: It sounds like an outro. [Bethany]: Yeah, so [Bethany]: It was perfect. [Bethany]: It was amazing. [Bethany]: Incredible concert. [Bethany]: He really delivered.

[Bethany]: It was amazing. [Bethany]: I mean, I kind of went in with no real expectation for it. [Bethany]: And I was blown away. [Bethany]: He's really over like chapter two and solo work and everything with Jen. [Bethany]: I just feel like he's just grown on me even more and more like I fall in deeper and deeper in love with him. [Kayla]: I agree. [Kayla]: Between like, you know, the run, Jen episodes between doing Keyons bizarre being

[Kayla]: be you know just kind of like being that one member who's been here for us all of this time before everybody else was back you know like we always loved him obviously but I feel like we have such a reverence for him now and I feel like he has he's always been a confident guy but I think he's really coming to his own with his own music now and doing this concert in like a gin way like making it you know kind of a variety show based and having that as a theme that

[Kayla]: really carried through the whole concert in a great way. [Bethany]: Very interactive and casual, which is just gen to it. [Bethany]: It really reflects who he is as a person. [Bethany]: I agree. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: Also, we're all quickly one last thing that we forgot to mention. [Bethany]: There was a moment during the concert, too.

[Bethany]: I think maybe during the encore that he turned back to like go back to like the original like front stage from the second stage and he saw himself on the big screen. [Bethany]: He just stopped in his tracks at himself. [Bethany]: Like, oh. [Bethany]: Oh, I'm so like, I know I'm handsome, but wow. [Kayla]: You're just like, this is what you guys are seeing on screen. [Kayla]: I look so good. [Bethany]: Yeah, like, jaw to the floor. [Bethany]: Like, genuinely looking stunned.

[Bethany]: Yeah, just a little bit of calm at all. [Bethany]: Like, it looks serious. [Kayla]: Yeah, he was like, really wasn't even joking. [Kayla]: No, like, I just have to love him for that, too. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: Anyways, yeah. [Kayla]: We loved, we loved the concert. [Kayla]: Like you said, totally blown away. [Kayla]: Really, it was very hard to go into it really hype with like under two hours of sleep.

[Kayla]: Five a.m. [Kayla]: had been up with friends late the night before, you know. [Kayla]: Baby crying. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: technology just not cooperating with us right by down. [Kayla]: I mean right plan is changing rolling with it, you know, but truly blown away like five minutes in the concert were like oh my god so glad that we made this happen. [Kayla]: We do have to say that on night one, Tae Young, RM and Hobie.

[Kayla]: attended and yeah, and If you have a scene pictures of them. [Kayla]: Oh my god. [Kayla]: Oh look because they looked so good There was like this you were discretion now because it's a young is and a tank top and he's just a black tank top black tank black beanie black pants just flexing arms cross flexing his own yeah [Kayla]: I know.

[Kayla]: But there was like a tweet that was like the extraverts versus the introverts because it's Taehyung RM and Hobie and they're all just like out no face mask like colorful outfit and then on night two like first of all maybe in the multi camera some other cam you could see the other members but like we only watched the main cam because we don't want to switch back and forth

[Kayla]: And we got like a tiny glimpse of Yungi and then like mostly Jimin did not even know Jungkook was there until after the concert. [Kayla]: But all three of them are wearing like hats or beanies face masks like covering their whole face. [Bethany]: Arms covered. [Bethany]: Arms covered. [Kayla]: Super cute though. [Kayla]: Literally, you and Gimmin wearing the same exact outfit. [Kayla]: I didn't like black beanie white mask white shirt like baggy baggy shorts.

[Kayla]: The only difference is like there's kind of shoes like between black boots of Gimmin classic for him and then you and Gimmin wearing like these big chunky white tennis shoes. [Kayla]: I mean it was just so adorable that they completely match the match. [Kayla]: Yeah, identical. [Kayla]: At one point in the concert, I forgot when it was, but Jen was like saying, like, oh, I'm so grateful for my members are here to support me, and that's when we see it.

[Kayla]: Like, you can get a little bit and we see Jim in. [Kayla]: He was like, Jim in. [Kayla]: You want to come up here? [Kayla]: You want to come perform? [Kayla]: Maybe some serendipity, and Jim was just like holding his arms up in an ex, like, no. [Bethany]: No. [Kayla]: Absolutely. [Kayla]: Not at all. [Kayla]: Um, and like, we need to have no cute baby, Jungkook was right there. [Kayla]: He's like, let me have there. [Kayla]: I want to perform three D, you know.

[Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: He probably wanted to be absolutely what up. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: I just think it's hilarious just seeing you and Gay with these two mach nays who have been serving together. [Bethany]: There's whole time like they got it. [Bethany]: Like they were already close but they have to be so close now and you and Gay is just like these kids. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: Like I just feel like it was probably a lot of fun.

[Kayla]: I would say that he'd be third-wheeling if not for him and Jim and literally matching. [Bethany]: Oh yeah. [Kayla]: They were on the same wavelength. [Kayla]: Oh totally. [Bethany]: Yeah. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: I still love you and men. [Kayla]: Oh me too. [Bethany]: Me too. [Kayla]: I'm here for the you and men. [Kayla]: Yes. [Kayla]: Phone fallen. [Kayla]: Anyways, it was great to see that the members came out in full support.

[Kayla]: I know each of the members ended up posting on their Instagram stories individually about Jen's concert, which was great to get that support to some of them in day one. [Kayla]: And some of them at day two was really great before he takes out his tour, you know, worldwide, worldwide handsome, everywhere else. [Bethany]: Yes. [Bethany]: I'm excited to see all of the video clips and the pictures from all the concerts that he has ahead down the road.

[Bethany]: I feel like the U.S. [Bethany]: He's gonna get even a little bit crazier. [Bethany]: Oh, yeah. [Kayla]: And he better get crazier for rope it. [Kayla]: Oh, I think he will. [Kayla]: I mean, I still use that mechanical bowl. [Kayla]: I still need to see him on one of those hobby horses. [Kayla]: We're waiting for the chaps, you know, like I think he's gonna get crazier for those U.S. [Kayla]: tickets and or tour dates. [Kayla]: And I'm really excited to see all the videos.

[Bethany]: Me too. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: We loved it. [Kayla]: We are so excited that we watched it so happy that we got up at five a.m. [Kayla]: and have been sleep deprived for two days now from seeing it was well worth it. [Bethany]: But what an episode to just be talking about Jen's concert. [Bethany]: It's our concert review and it's our last time recording together for some time because Kayla is moving to St. [Bethany]: Louis this coming Sunday. [Bethany]: I know.

[Bethany]: Yeah. [Bethany]: So we're going to be crazy. [Bethany]: recording separately for a little bit so you'll guys will maybe notice I don't know but I'm sure we'll talk about it in the next episode yeah yeah but we will be on this kind of next chapter for the podcast we are going back to recording separately I know we used to so we were used to it then but it'll be a different a little bit of a change up for us now [Kayla]: Um, I'm not worried about it. [Kayla]: I'm not worried either.

[Kayla]: It'll be like, I don't know if this is BTS' it'll be like our chapter three. [Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: It's just another, I don't know. [Kayla]: Transition. [Bethany]: Transition. [Kayla]: I'm excited for it.

[Kayla]: Yeah. [Kayla]: Um, so let us know what you think about Jin's concert tour and what you thought about this episode and let us know if you noticed something like weird changes on our next episode with audio or, you know, whatever else because we'll probably have some [Kayla]: technical things. [Kayla]: I think we'll figure it out.

[Kayla]: Yeah, but we're very grateful that you all were here and let us know what you thought about the concert and of course you can find links for all of the things in the description. [Bethany]: Thanks for listening and thanks for standing BTS.
