This compline service is for the week of Sunday, March 7th, the Lord almighty grant us a peaceful night and a perfect end. Amen. Our help is in the name of the Lord, the maker of heaven and earth. Let us confess our sins to God almighty God, our heavenly father, we have sinned against you through our own fault in thought and word and deed. And in what we have left undone for the sake of your son, our Lord Jesus Christ. Forgive us all our offenses.

And grant that we may serve you in newness of life, to the glory of your name. Amen. May the almighty God grant us forgiveness of all our sins and the grace and comfort of the Holy spirit. Amen. Oh God. Makes speed to save us. Oh, Lord, make haste to help us glory to the father and to the son and to the Holy spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and will be forever.

Amen. Psalm 19 heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows his handiwork one day tells its tale to another in one night in parts, knowledge to another. Although they have no words or language and their voices are not heard. Their sound has gone out into all land and their message to the ends of the world. In the deep, has he set a pavilion for the sun? It comes forth like a bride groom out of the chamber. It rejoices like a champion to run its course. It goes forth.

From the ultimate edge of the heavens and runs about the end of it. Again, nothing is hidden from its burning heat. The law of the Lord is perfect and revives the soul. The testimony of the Lord is sure and gives wisdom to the innocent. The statutes of the Lord are just in rejoice. The heart, the commandment of the Lord is clear and gives light to the eyes. The fear of the Lord is clean and endures forever. The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous all together.

More to be desired, are they than gold, more than fine gold sweeter, far than honey, than honey in the comb by them also is your servant enlightened. And in keeping them there is great reward who can tell how often he offends. Cleanse me from my secret faults above all. Keep your servant from presumptuous sins. Let them not get dominion over me then shall I be whole and sound and innocent of a great offense? Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart. Be acceptable in your sight.

Oh Lord. My strength in my Redeemer. Glory to the father and to the son and to the Holy spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and will be forever world without end. Amen. A reading from the gospel. According to John, the Passover of the Jews was near and Jesus went up to Jerusalem in the temple. He found people selling cattle, sheep, and doves, and the money changed. You're seated at their tables. Making a whip of cords. He drove all of them out of the temple, both the sheep and the cattle.

He also poured out the coins, the money changers, and overturned their tables. He told those who were selling the doves, take these things out of here. Stop making my father's house a marketplace. His disciples remembered that it was written zeal for your house will consume me. The Jews then said to him, what sign can you show us for doing this? Jesus answered them, destroy this temple. And in three days I will raise it up.

The Jews then said, this temple has been under construction for 46 years. And will you raise it up in three days? But he was speaking of the temple of his body after he was raised from the dead. His disciples remembered that he had said this and they believe the scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken the word of the Lord. Thanks. Be to God in the name of God, father, son, and Holy spirit. Amen. So often the image of Jesus that we have is one of a kind gentle and forgiving individual.

Today's gospel depicts a Jesus. That is anything but that we have someone who is angry, perhaps frustrated and upset with what he sees going on in the temple. I've heard from some people who believe that this may have been Jesus sinning, but the question is, does breaking the law necessarily add up to his sin? When it's a fight against injustice itself. So what was Jesus truly upset about the ways of the temple have been going on for years prior to his arrival?

How else would one by the sacrificial animals needed to pay homage and offer repentance to God. But this was just the point. There shouldn't have needed to be a demand for such animals. Even in the old Testament, God says, I have no need for your sacrifice. And from Jesus' perspective, what was going on was nothing more than a way of, shall we say fleecing, the faithful making access to God costs a great amount, making access to God impossible. This is so opposite of what Jesus was about.

And Jesus was about full access making. God's love grace forgiveness, the gift of salvation available to all people, not at cost, but nearly because we put our trust in God and choose to follow the way of the cross. The way of love itself, faith is really not that difficult. It doesn't come with a financial cost.

Salvation comes with merely one thing, the offering of our lives to God, to choose, to follow the way of the cross and to put our full trust in the loving care of God and the grace of his love and salvation. Amen. Into your hands. Oh Lord. I commend my spirit for you have redeemed me. Oh Lord. Oh God of truth. Keep us, Oh Lord. As the Apple of your eye height is under the shadow of your wings. Lord have mercy Christ have mercy. Lord have mercy.

Our father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come. Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day, our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses. As we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Lord, hear our prayer. Lord. Hear our prayer. And let our cry come to you.

Let us pray almighty God who sees that we have no power of ourselves to help ourselves keep us both outwardly in our bodies and inwardly in our souls, that we may be defended from all adversities, which may happen to the body. And from all evil thoughts, which may assault and hurt the soul through Jesus Christ, our Lord who lives and reigns with you and the Holy spirit. One God forever and ever. Amen. Look down, Oh Lord. From your heavenly throne.

And illumine this night with your celestial brightness. That by night as by day, your people may glorify your Holy name through Jesus Christ. Our Lord. Amen. Keep watch dear Lord, with those who work or watch or weep this night and give your angels charge over those who sleep tend the sick Lord Christ. Give rest to the weary. Bless the dying sued the suffering, pity, the afflicted shield, the joyous and all for your Love's sake. Amen. At this time, I invite you to stop.

The podcast and take a moment with God, share with him all of your prayers, your concerns, what you are thankful for, what you hope for guide us. Waking O Lord and guard is sleeping that awake. We may watch with Christ and asleep. We may rest in peace, Lord. You now have set your servant free. To go and peace.

As you have promised for these eyes of mine have seen the savior whom you have prepared for all the world to see a light, to enlighten the nations and the glory of your people, Israel, Laurie, to the father and to the son and to the Holy spirit, as it was in the beginning is now and will be forever. Amen. Guide us, waking our Lord in Gardas sleeping that awake. We may watch with Christ. And asleep. We may rest in peace. Let us bless the Lord. Thanks.

Be to God, the almighty and merciful Lord father, son, and Holy spirit. Bless us and keep us. Amen.
