Romans 12:9

Romans 12:9
A DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: Our Lutheran Church celebrated the 495th anniversary of the Confession of Augsburg. This document, read by Christian Beyer before Emperor Charles V and the Roman Catholic leaders, on June 25, 1530, gave witness to the Christian faith in our Triune God, who sent Jesus to forgive us our sins. We receive this justification through faith in Christ not by works, as Article XX so boldly asserts (the longest article in the Augsburg Confession) and as stated so clearly by St Paul i...
Psalm 16
"Why Don’t You Leave Me Alone?" based on Luke 8:26-39.
Trust Jesus! (True North VBS Recap)
A DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: On this Juneteenth national holiday, we join our African-American fellow citizens in celebrating emancipation today and the freedom we have as Americans. St Paul also spoke of freedom in Galatians 5: "For freedom Christ has set you free!" We are free from the consequences of our sins, including eternal death, and we have the full forgiveness of all our sins through Christ. We can live freely as we bear the fruit of His Spirit. A former student and friend, Adam A. Smith, has...

A Trinity Weekend Devo with Ezra
A DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: Tomorrow, June 13, is the 500th wedding anniversary of Martin Luther to Katharine von Bora. Luther said he married to please his father, rile the pope, make angels laugh, and the devil to cry. He extolled marriage as a divine and glorious institution in which to express love to one's closest neighbor. May God continue to bless all marriages with His divine presence, forgiveness, and joy.
Psalm 8
With Spirit by Rev. Dr. Timothy Maschke Based on Acts 2:1-21
Spiritual Taste in Our Mouths
A DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: On this date, June 5, in 754, St Boniface was murdered. Our Christian churches remember his mission work in Germany where he became bishop of Mainz. As an English monk, he heard the call of Christ to go into all the world, making disciples (Matthew 28) and by the power of His Spirit, converted many pagans to Christianity. He is especially remembered for having cut down a sacred tree to the pagan god, Donar. For his mission endeavors, Boniface is known as the Apostle to Germ...
Psalm 143
Based on John 17:20-26.
A Defining Characteristic of the Church
A DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: On this Ascension Day, we rejoice in the fact that Jesus left this world so that He could be with us all. He will come again and, in the meantime, He is preparing a place for us, as He promised in John 14. What a marvelous message of love, comfort, and hope.
Psalm 47
“When Jesus Speaks, We Stand,” by Pastor Schultz, based onJohn 5:1–9.
Sorrow (or Anxiety) to Joy
Psalm 67
Based on Revelation 21
The Christian's "Little While"s
A DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT:The hymn tune by Thomas Hastings, who died on this date in 1872 is memorable. When we hear it, we recall the words of the hymn, "Rock of Ages," and the comfort and hope it provides as we continue these Great Fifty Days of Easter. Christ is the Rock, who shed His blood for our cleansing forgiveness.
Psalm 148
For All the Faithful Women
“Voice Recognition,” by Pastor Maschke, based upon John 10:27-30.
A DEVOTIONAL THOUGHT: As we anticipate this weekend, Good Shepherd Sunday, I recall the 23rd Psalm. Although most of us are unfamiliar with sheep, many of us have pets...especially dogs. Our dog, Lizzy, certainly knows that she is cared for. She has no wants other than regular meals and walks outside. So, we also have a Good Master, Jesus, who leads us and provides for us, especially through the forgiveness of sins and the certainty of eternal life. May you celebrate His care continually.
