Hi, I'm Christine Dunbar from speechmodification.com and this is my Smart American Accent Training. In this practice lesson, we'll look at how we pronounce what are influent speech. We'll practice for what are we plus verbs. When we link what and are, it sounds like water. Together with a pronoun we, it sounds like water we. Repeat after me for the following phrases. What are we doing? What are we doing? What are we asking? What are we saying? What are we talking about? What are we thinking?
What are we going to do? What are we going to say? What are we working on? What are we looking for? What are we having? What are we eating? What are we drinking? What are we playing? What are we forgetting? What are we expecting? What are we seeing? What are we showing them? What are we telling them? Try again and say them with me. Doing, what are we doing? Asking, what are we asking? Saying, what are we saying? Talking about, what are we talking about? Thinking, what are we thinking?

We'll look at the phrase what are they? When we link and reduce, it sounds like what are they? Let's put it together with some verbs. I'll say the verb first and then the whole phrase. Repeat after me. Doing. What are they doing? Asking, what are they asking? Saying, what are they saying? Talking about. What are they talking about? thinking. What are they thinking? Gonna do? What are they gonna do? Gonna say. What are they gonna say? Working on. What are they working on?
Looking for. What are they looking for? Looking at. What are they looking at? Having What are they having? Eating What are they eating? Drinking What are they drinking? Playing, what are they playing? Forgetting. What are they forgetting? Expecting. What are they expecting? Seeing what are they seeing?

What are you eating? You might find it helpful to slow down the speed to 0.75 or 0.5. Try repeating a few times at the slow speed and then speed back up.
