In this episode, you learn how to describe your friend's personalities in espanel using basic personality adjectives as he TiVos the personally that. This is a great topic for making
small talk in espanel. Ready for this first, let's listen to a short dialogue between two amigos Jesse and me Marco. We talk about our siblings. One of us describes positive personality traits and the other not so positive. While you listen, keep in mind this question, what words are you used
to describe their siblings? Ready, here we go. Jessica comstas bienni too MOI vien gracias comsa dormana ajia estabian come ya nolaskovien ayah is sympatica strovertidra yeah, legri hm hmm esa is me impression it dormano comea sel mermano sumboo is persoso antipatico. It is cortes that. Then again, in this conversation with a lot of vocabulary you've already learned in previous episodes, Jessica talks about her Ermana sister and I talk about me ermano. If you're still struggling with
family vocabulary, check out episode sixteen La Familia. I asked Jessica come os to Hermana. Como is is a question you use for descriptions. It means what is the person like? In Spanish, we use the verb ser to be ser to talk about personality, traits and permanent characteristics. That's why the question is com os are not comsta com oz what is somebody like? But comosta how is he or she doing? So? When you want to know someone's personalities,
say come os plus the person you're asking about. For example, come os to Padre, what is your father like? Come os to Hermana, what is your sister like? Come os to ami go what is your friend like? To reply, you use the verb sir plus personality adjective. In the dialogue. Jessica says meremana is plus personality adjectives, and I say, mermano is plus personality adjectives. After is in English, you simply add the description. More on that next. Let's go
over the adjectives. But first, did you catch the words we use in the dialogue. I'll give you a few seconds to think of your answer. Ready, Let's see. Jessica says her sister is sympathica, meaning likable, be careful. Sympathica looks like the English word sympathetic, but is different. Sympathica means a nice, friendly person, nothing to do with sympathetic. She also says extrovertida extroverted and a leg tearful. Let's
practice pronunciation slow first, and then add anormous speed. Repeat after me slow sympatica extrovertiva a legy, normal speed sympathica extrovertida a legy. Now, let's see how describe my brother. I use four words in the dialogue. Did you catch them? They are bobo, petty so so, anti patico, and escort. This Bobo means stupid or dumb, not the nicest word to use. It's not a bust as a courseword like mother care, but still not polite. Let's continue. Petty so
so is lazy and antipatico unpleasant or unlikable. It's the opposite of sympatico. And finally, this court taste impolite or wrote. So let's practice this repeat after me slow bo bo petty so so anti partico. This court taste at anormous pied bobo petty so so antipatico this court test. And now that you know the vocabulary, let's listen to the
dialogue again. Ready, here we go, Jessica comstas bienni too moe vien gracias coma dormana ajia estabian come o yah nolascovien a yah is sympatica strovertidra Yeah, legri hm hm esa is me impression it dormano come my cel mermano sumboo is versoso antipatico. It is cortes kaoke that. Then again, if it's still too hard, you can find the transcript and key points for this lesson on my blog at Latin dot com. I'll leave the direct link in the
episode description. And now, trying to practice, I'll ask you in Spanish what is your best friend like? And you have to reply when you hear this sound.
