¶ Introduction to Speaking Irish
Okay Falture and welcome. Um this series of uh lessons specifically end of getting you speaking Irish. Um we're not going to be doing any uh reading work, we're not gonna talk about grammar, we'll not be worried about the spelling or writing of Irish. It's just about um programming your brain. to speak Irish in a natural way.
Um and we're not gonna start off with uh even hello, we're not Gemaratati. You can look those up on the internet, they're boring anyway. Um we're gonna get stuck straight in to asking for things, saying what you'd like to have. And the way it works. Is that whenever I introduce a new thing and ask ya a question You have to pause the recording. Say it out loud. And then unpause. And see whether you got it right or not.
You can't do this when you're ironing, okay? You can't do this when you're uh doing the dishes, you can't do it when you're driving, right? You have to be focused, you have to pause it and you have to speak out loud or it doesn't work.
¶ Ordering Basic Drinks in Irish
So, uh to say I would like, it's bowaium. Bowaium. Just repeat that. Bawy lyum. It breaks down Ba Wai Lum Put it all together Ba why yum Now what would you like? I'm gonna say a cup of uh a cup of tea. Obviously everyone wants a cup of tea, right? Copante Just repeat them. Kopente Kopen te Now how do you say I would like a cup of tea? Pause the recording. ¶ Adding Modifiers and New Drinks
But why yum cup and caffe Well done. If you want to add on, please, it's Le Dehull. I'm sure you know that already. Le the hull I'd like a cup of tea, please. Now, a cup of tea's wee, right? You want a wee cup of tea? So to say small or we we're gonna add in the word big. Bug. Where do we put it? We put it after cup ban because it's the cup that's small. Okay? Cup and bug tea. Say a wee cup of tea. Yeah, cup and bug te. How would you say? I'd like a wee cup of coffee a wee cup of coffee.

Although a pint is theoretically always the same size, right, we're gonna say I want a big pint of Guinness. And big is the word more. Where do you think you put the word more in in the Irish? ¶ Complex Orders with Milk and Sugar

Just repeat, le boigne. Now, how would you say a cup of tea with milk? Cup of coffee with milk. How would you say a pint of milk? Printo Buana. Well done. I would like a cup of tea with milk, please. But whyom cup and tehull. Well done. How would you ask for a cup of coffee with milk?
Now, what else can we have on our drinks? Sugar maybe? Easy. Chukre. Chukre. How would you say with sugar? The chukra. Can you say tea with sugar? Tay le sucre, and coffee with milk. Coffee Le Boigne Well done. The word and in Irish is ugus. So now we can put the whole thing together. Tea with sugar and coffee with milk, please. Well done. Say I would like coffee with sugar.
