Episode description

In this week’s episode, Mary Woodward, SPA’s Senior Advisor – Justice, speaks with Katy Eccleston and Emma Agostino, Child and Family workers with Shine for Kids. Katy and Emma explore the important considerations for speech pathologists when working with children who have an incarcerated parent, in the context of 20% of Aboriginal children and 5% of non-Aboriginal children experiencing parental incarceration at some point in their lifetime. Please follow this link to access the Shine for Kids website: https://shineforkids.org.au/ Speech Pathology Australia acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of lands, seas and waters throughout Australia, and pay respect to Elders past, present and future. We recognise that the health and social and emotional wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are grounded in continued connection to culture, country, language and community, and acknowledge that sovereignty was never ceded.
