Hey everyone, it's Jason. I just wanted to tack on this little extra bit here at the beginning. BB and I recorded this episode a couple days after the finale aired, but then a couple of days after that, I moved across the country for a new job, so it just it took a while to kind of get set up where I could edit the episode and get it out. So I just want to let you guys know why it's taken so long. And then also during that time, we've received a little bit
more feedback, so I wanted to share that right now. Carlos on Twitter says, great finale, taking a page out of Six Feet Under his book to show a glimpse of the character's future. Nicely done. Fantastic show. I will miss it, and to that, I actually I haven't seen Six Feet Under. I had a film school professor that was like obsessed with that show. But a lot of shows have done the flash forward for their finales and mixed results. But I would agree that Superstore did it really well.
And yeah, we'll definitely miss this show as well. I'm really glad that it was able to stick the landing the way it did, and then we got some more feedback, saying beautiful ending one of the most satisfying wrap ups I've seen. All of it was perfect. You'll pretty much hear BB and I saying the same thing in this podcast episode. We genuinely love the finale
and found very little fault with it. So that's that. Yeah, I just wanted to include that the electra bit of feedback, and there's another comment within the episode itself. But I also want to mention you've probably heard that Bow and Cheyenne spin off is not moving forward at NBC and so probably not at all, which means I don't really know what we're going to do with this podcast, if we're gonna try to put something else out on it, if we're I mean, I kind of threw out some ideas in the actual
episode here that you'll hear in a moment. But I do want to mention that BB and I have another podcast we've been working on. It's kind of been on hiatus while we were finishing up with Superstore, but we've been covering Battlestar Galactica on another podcast feed called Spacing Out with BB and Jason, and I think I temporarily changed the name to say spacing out with Battlestar Galactica, just because I was annoyed that it wasn't showing up when you search battle Stargalactica.
So but the title will revert back to spacing out with BB and Jason because we want to cover other things on that show as well. So I just want to plug that There is a link for it in the episode notes, so that you can find it if you so desire. But otherwise I'll stop talking here and get on to the actual episode. I know Amy being back is a very big deal, so as her best friend, I'm just going to put to rest any possible questions so we can save time. Yes,
California is warm. No, Zephyr does not have those egg shaped nap pods. Yes, she is roughly the same weight as when she left. And yes, Parker is still frail and practically translucent. No. Actually, Parker is thriving in California. He loves it, both kids do, and so do I. But I am happy to see all of you. Okay, Amy, you heard me, There's no time. Welcome to Cloud nine, a Superstore podcast. I'm Jason and I'm BB, and we're talking about
the final two episodes Superstore. Yes, the final the finale, yes, and we're going to try to talk about them separately. It kind of feels weird to go back to the second to last one right after watching that finale. That finale was intensely great. I loved it. But yeah, let's
talk about the setup first. So this one sets it up Season six, episode fourteen, Perfect Store, which aired on March twenty fifth, twenty twenty one, Written by Owen Ellickson and Laura McCrary and directed by Victor Nelly Junior. And of course this is like our final podcast on the show, but if you do want to reach out to us still you can, and if
we get continue getting feedback, we'll probably record something and address it. Yeah, so you can find us via email Superstore Podcast at gmail dot com, or we send us a message on Facebook or Twitter at Superstore Pod. Yes, we are still working on another podcast as well. That's been on a site Hiatus, which is spacing Out, And that's like our sci fi inspired podcast where we do Battlestar Galactica, but we also do other things. Yeah,
it's called spacing Out with BB and Jason. Yeah, be specific, and yeah, we kind of was too much to do to podcasts at once. So yeah, I'm kind of glad this one is over so we can focus on the sci fi and get like the ball rolling on new shows. Yeah, because have y'all seen WandaVision? Never heard of it? No, So this episode, where do we start? It's Carol? Do you want to start with her? Do you seek her like velvety track suits from the nineties? Yes, yeah, we can talk about that. She got some
money. Yeah, not as much as everyone thought though. No. The whole setup is that, like the store is closing, like Zephyra is getting rid of the Cloud nine stores and they're doing online only. Yeah, so most of the stores, so they're trying to save this one in particular. Zephyr is shifting most of Cloud nine's business online, so they're gonna be closing some stores some Oh okay, well what's someone like for? And everyone's freaking out except Carol. I guess that was what brought us to her. Oh
because am I settlement? Hey I still need this job to keep me grounded. That's funny. I was not expecting her to even be there anymore. But Jonah is still technically with the lawyer lady too. Yeah, so they're still around in this episode, and that was interesting to see them because Jonah in the begin I mean they're like, Jonah, what should we do? And he couldn't answer it. I'm just trying to be realistic. I mean we've been flattened by these guys over and over. I just, yeah,
I don't know what to say. Hey, I'm not sure that's an idea so much as a downer. So maybe next time, just don't stop the meeting if you don't have anything. Yeah, And that was kind of like Jonah being speechless was like, Oh, there's not really any hope here. Is there a reality check for real? Yeah, because he's the one that would rally everyone. Yeah, he's the hopeless romantic that's always seen like the positive outcome of like a dire situation or how to like push against the powers
that make those things, you know. Yeah, So he doesn't know, and he tries to talk to his girlfriend about it and she's like, yeah,
yeah, she's not offering him anything. And I think we kind of get the contrast with his little like news interview speech at the end, like he's being inspired I guess by Amy's there and just seeing everyone and at the end, there's a news report and he volunteers himself to try to change the narrative because something horrible happens in the store on their day that they have to be perfect to convince the corporate woman who doesn't know Amy to like keep the
store as one of the ones that get to stay open by Zephyrra and it kind of works. What do you think, Like, do you think that they're actually saved? I don't think they're saved. We know that right Well, yeah they're not, but they're becoming a fulfillment center, so a few people are going to keep their job. Yeah, they kind of keep us in the dark about that. These people are my family. I grew up here, I spent half of my life. Amy, we're not closing this
one? What really that has great square footage? And I says central it'll make a perfect fulfillment center. I don't know. He didn't really do much. He just kind of voiced his like sadness about how special the store is to him. We just we keep trying to show everybody that we're the perfect store, and the truth is we're not. Okay, we're just us. And it was like everybody was acknowledging that it was weird and awkward that Amy was there. Yep, because Amy shows up in this episode and they have
a meeting because she's supposed to vouch for them and Sandra. They get like a full update on everything Jonah has done for Yes Andrew. Besides, it doesn't matter Jonah's seeing someone. Oh well, that's great for Jonah's none of my business. It's my lawyer. And she's a redhead, so safe bet is. She's like the filthiest freak in the world. Dona, No, I'm begging you all, please stop. Also, Amy, you should know
Kelly came back although nothing happened. Why should she know that? And he also asked Nia out, But she's a lesbian at least that's what she told him. No, I am a lesbian. Doesn't matter. He's all about Amy now. They Yeah, like Amy shows up and it's like super awkward, and then they have a meeting where they update everyone on everybody's business, Like Amy answers questions about California, and then all the co workers tell us
Jonah's business. Yeah. Sandra was so good in this episode because she's like you think I don't know. She's very Sandra in this episode with Jonah and Amy. Yes, there's a lot of like they talk about how like Amy left and she's like worried, like is he sad about it or what? Like? Yeah, I think that's the next episode. Oh really Yeah,
what happened in this one then with Amy and Jonah? Besides awkward, I mean I was kind of it. And then they they made their little googly eyes together and basically not address their relationship that much, but they did make googly eyes at the at the interview at the end. Yeah, Hey, it really means a lot that you came back here even knowing you'd have to deal with the Jonah at all. Yeah. Well, I mean it's less weird than I thought it would be. It's actually kind of nice. What
else about this episode? Did you like? I like the foot stuff of severed feet? Yeah, that was really creepy. Oh my god, Oh my god. Hey, Justine calmed down. Well that's the right reaction. There's like eight severed feet in there. Oh my god, Oh my god. This fucking a bag, bro a whole bag because we had that, we even we've had a whole body inside of wall and this isn't the first foot they found. No, this has been a recurring issue and it creeps
me out. This will be like something that I hope they address one day, or do you think this will be something that like, I don't know. For me, it's always been a mystery, like why is there so many feet? The foot guy? Well, I mean we were is that what so that you think that answers it? Yeah? Creepy, right, creepy. Now if you watch it again, you know, and we'll never look at Elias the same. I never will, even when he's like comedic
relief. Yeah, I know it's next episode. Let's mention Elias is related to Glynn in Drusha. He's Drusiha's brother. Oh so that's yeah, that makes sense a little bit. But yeah, it was a good episode. I liked. I liked the drama and the fact that like everybody was trying to pretend to be perfect. Yeah. The one thing I was hoping for is there was a really funny thing I don't remember, maybe like season two or something, where they talked about the day they had like a perfect day
with no issues. I think it was March fourteenth. Yeah, I might be wrong on the date, but I always thought that was like a funny gag that they could have brought back at any point, and they never did. And I thought the title being perfect Store, that they would be referencing
that perfect day they had. Yeah, that would have been that would have been a little just a little bit like a perfect little if you know, you know, well, yeah, we had this severed feet and Glenn's reaction to it, which was he was having a really tough time with the morality. Effoot, he really was, and even Dina was kind of like, there's no way we're moving this. Yeah, so and that's kind of what
this was such a good moment. When Marcus Fice, no, no, you understand, there's a bunch of here, I just kind of move these out of bedding because like, why are there drinks here? And the boom six seven feet? Well it's eight, but it's fine. Just calm down and we'll explain everything. I'm sorry, did you just say severed feet? They just fell off like acorn. Why are you guys acting like this is
normal. He's so horrified, fucking Marcus, He's super horrified. He's like, this is the only thing I'm ever going to think about when I come into the store. He's narrating their worst nightmare, and it was so nice to see that. And then you cut to all the cops and people outside. That was really good. Who goes up to him and like just says his name and it's like, stop, was that Amyah? Jonah? Yesh, this is so disgusting and scary. This is what I'll think about every
time I come into the store. Marcus stop because Jonah was like kind of going along with it really hard, right, Yeah, he was trying to pivot it to be talking about a TV show or something, you know. Yeah. Yeah. And then this episode also had Garrett really like caring about the fact that Amy hasn't like specifically called him out to say hello. She said, out everyone this morning. No, she said, hi everyone. Okay, so I'm just supposed to share a hello with Elias Nod. Dude,
I'm forty years old. I think she's just a little preoccupied. Yeah, right, of course, I'm kidding. It would be funny if I cared the right. That was a little I don't know, I don't know how I felt about that. I mean, it just didn't seem to go anywhere, to be honest, Like, I think it was just plot device for him to like walk in on her phone call. Yeah, but that didn't like really cause any problems. It was just like a little bit of awkward. You know. I think it's really messed up that you came all
the way back here and you haven't even said hi to me. I'm so sorry, Megan. My neighbor just barged in that work from home life. Am I right? Also, you left your trash cans in my driveway? Yeah, but it didn't get addressed at all. Really. Yeah, it feels like something that maybe they had the cut scenes out for time, maybe because I feel like the reason she would maybe avoid him is because like him and Joanah are really close. Yeah, that would be the only thing that
I would think of. And I don't know why she wouldn't. I don't know address it in a way, But yeah, that was that was like me I was. I was more interested in like how Carol was like flaunting her stuff, and I don't know, it was just interesting to see everyone else. I forgot. What did Chian do in this episode? Cheyenne was present, Yeah, she's more present in the next one. Yeah, I
know. I mean she was part of like when Amy and Jonah ran into each other for the first time, and she's the one that didn't tell Jonah. Oh God, Chyan, I thought you were going to tell him I was coming. Yeah, I was going to, but I figured it would be awkward. Oh well, I'm glad we avoided that. So she let this awkwardness happen later. And then like Mateo's worried about where he's gonna find work, and he's trying to hit up Carol. Maybe we should just all
ask Carol for money. I mean, I guess that's possible. She might need a personal assistant. Maybe you think she'd be go with pain you cash into the table. Of course, that's how all rich people pay their immigrants. This is where Mateo's a personal assistant, but for free. Because I remember he was holding flowers because they put flowers everywhere as like a way to make the store better somehow. Yeah, they put flowers everywhere, and he
was holding a bunch of flowers and mopping at the same time. And I was like, that's not clever, that's not useful or accomplishing anything. And Channe also had that thing at the beginning where she stops the meaning to ask for what Jonah has to say when he has nothing to say, and then she tells him, don't interrupt meetings if you have no ideas? Jonah, What do you think about? Like all the stuff they were doing to make
the store all fancy? I liked it a little bit. Actually. I really enjoyed all the flowers and the toilet, Yes, that was really good. And then like the soft furnishines in the food place, like they made the food court look nicer. Yeah, and they were cooking all that cookie dough. They had a mound of cookie dough that the customer was like, how much'll smell great? How much? Oh, they're not for sale, they're not even shaping the cookies. It's just a mound. How much
for the mount? So it was really I liked it. I thought it was funny and like they were like, put something up so she doesn't step on that fucked up pile. That was good until the foot thing happened. It was really good. Yeah, all right, what's next? Any other thoughts on this? This episode? The reporter was really funny. Yeah, she was like thanks for nothing, Jonah. Why do you think he or
she? Well, let's be honest, he sees your store as an ideal dumping ground, Well, Natalie, he probably likes it for the same reason everybody else. Does you know, our fast and friendly service, our convenient parking, and our strong sense of community. I don't think he answered a question. Yeah, I like the reporter a lot. I thought she was
good. Yeah, it was. It was a good episode, and I'm trying to think of it independently because we we watch them back to back as they intended this too, but it was a good one to end on, like, this was a good transition to the next episode. Two. Yeah, I can see why they paired them together, and they kind of work
separately but also as a unit. So I guess we'll move on. But we're here every single day, when it rains, when it snows, when it tornadoes, when there's a plague, and you're all safe at home except for when you come here to cough. We're here just just trying to get you what you need, and all we want is to keep doing that. This is season six, episode fifteen, All sales final. Oh damn, they went there. Huh. I like that title. It's really good.
That's a weird thing to be into by, like the titles of like finales and pilots. Although pilots often just have the name pilot. Sometimes I have created names. But it's also aired on March twenty fifth, twenty twenty one, directed by Ruben Fleischer, and there's a teleplay by Jonathan Green and Gabe Miller and the story by Justin Spitzer, who was the creator of the show. That was the show runner for a while, and I guess he came back for some the last year. And Amy for the name tag Vangeline.
I haven't said that in a while. Right, where should we start the beginning. Amy returns to the store and gets thrown into working by Glenn. I'm so happy to see you. I wasn't gonna not say so short staffed today. No, I was in the super If we just do whatever you can do. This is like God sent me a literal angel. Yeah. The greeter doesn't know who the hell she. She's like, I don't care,
really, who are you? You know that person that exists, you know, like in your when you're new at work and then some former co worker for other people shows up and they like gass them up and are like super excited to see them, and you're like, I don't know, yeah, like I've been sweating in here for a couple of months and that person hasn't mattered. So yeah, can I help you with something? Oh?
Hi, it's Amy. We met like a month ago. I thought I'd show up on the last day and surprise everybody, but so nice, what's the surprise? Just me? Oh? I thought it would be like donuts or something. I don't know you. But obviously Sandra was like super excited to see her too, right, that was the reaction she was looking for. Yes, Sandra was like lit up. She loves Amy, and I
think it's interesting that she's developed this love for Amy. It's kind of like how Dina grew to be best friends with Amy that she mentioned that in that last episode. She's like, I'm her best friend. I will answer all questions. So she gets to work and she wears her vest and Jonah sees her and they have like a semi positive interaction. Yeah, so that was good for them. We learned that Jonah and Hannah broke up off screen.
This episode started with one month later. Yeah, because she went back to California. Amy was only there to try to fix the closing. So now everything's gone. Oh, we didn't mention the end of the last episode, Amy quit her job. No, you can't just do this to us. Well, Amy, you'll keep your job. No, I won't because I quit, which I really know that she needed to do that. It was just an Amy thing. Yeah, that was the one thing. I'm like, I don't know if that's as meaningful as she intended it to be.
Yeah, she still had to go back to California. But I guess she's just like fuck cloud nine. Yeah, but she's still in corporate, Like nothing changes for fucking Namy. I don't get it, Like unless she's working somewhere like that's like not a corporation, or they hire executive directors or whatever not. No, I don't buy it. Yeah, I was lame. Sorry, I'm not sorry. You know what. Amy is back and it's the last day everything's on sale. Yeah, and she's having feelings. I
think I made a mistake not marrying Jonah. Ye think I just n't anymore. She's been pretty upset too. Sandra was very vocal about how she felt about Amy and Jonah. Yeah, she like couldn't handle You think it's like how far behind Amy and Jonah are from, like where Sandra is in their storyline. She's like y'all. I'm supposed to have been together, so how
dare you not be? And when Amy asks Jonah about his current breakup thing, she acts all surprised, and then Dina's like, you already knew that, and Amy's like, no, Dina's excuse for why she said that was so wrong. I had no idea that you two had broken up. Yes, you did. I told you they broke up like ten minutes ago. No you did it. Oh no, I didn't tell you that it was the other Latina employee. And you all look the same to me because I'm
a racist, So that's something I should probably work on. And then what Amy said on top of that was also like oh girl, because she said she still thinks Sandra's Lookedina. No, but we know Sandra Stina. No. Oh that was just it was awkward and untrue. I feel like it was an obvious lie. Yeah, so, Dina, we learned that she is going to be the manager of the new fulfillment center. I'm the new fulfillment center manager, but I can only keep five employees and I can't make
up my mind. I still I think we've speculated that more than one hundred people work there. At least more than you know because of the shifts and the night crew, which we never ever meet, right, but yeah, so yeah, she has to pick five people and she's having a hard time. Marcus was mentioned though, Yeah, and Marcus is one that was selected by Sandra to stay. Sandra was quick on that. I love that energy that she brought to that that scene, Why the am next to your name
because I'm your system manager. It was so good and she does the whole like mic drop moment twice it's okay with you. I don't want to be presumptuous, No, you're in. I was going for like a cool, badass moment. Yeah I got that good. Yeah you don't need to do Okay, you did all. We got to see like kind of both sides of Sandra there though, like super confident one the storms out and then the the one that's kind of unsure of herself as she doubles back. But I
loved it because she ended on the confident one. Yeah regardless, Like that was really good to see Sandra like that and to see the growth was so good and she's like I'm working with you, We're doing this, like oh my heart. Was good to see them doing that and Dina didn't shit on her, No, which was great because Dina used to shit on Sandra and it was nice to see that, to have that moment where yeah, I mean like early seasons, Dinah, I would have never accepted Sandra as her
as system manager. Oh no, no, but yeah, it was really nice to see that growth and development. What else you got there? I saw Bo Bo was there a lot, wasn't he? He was getting scheming with those machine a smart time to buy a new washer? Oh actually Bo wants to buy them all. Oh yeah, get him from mad Sheet and we sell him to the suckers. Make that scrilla. What if he can't sell them, then I open up a laundry mad Come on, man, think use those glasses. He's a little schemer. And he that he had
a plan and like a backup plan ready. Yeah, and then Cheyenne offered for Mateo to do laundry at their house, but he's like for a reasonable fee. He's like, I can't be losing money on this. I'm gonna buy them all. Okay, Yeah that was really good and Mateo is like, oh he's so anxious in this, you can feel the terror. Well yeah, because I mean, he's the one that can't just get a job.
No, it's really hard to get a job under the table. He tried it with Carol and she can't sustainably do that, like because she's a dumbast. But that was that was really good to include that, Like, and the juxtaposition of him with Glenn and how they're having this moment where Glenn's
saying, I'm sixty and you're undocumented. We're the same person, and it's like, are we Though it's funny you're undocumented and I'm over sixty and America doesn't want either of us to work anymore, right, but I'm under constant fair of deportation. And you get discounts of movie theaters so not new releases. Wow, must be awful to live in Terrorristlers or not. No, I mean there are some parallels, but it's not not the same. It's
not the same at all. And like, I'm glad that Glenn was able to create an opportunity for him, but it's like, it sucks that that's how we had to like, that's how we deal with it. You know, there's nothing systemically that can change for Mateo to make it a better situation, So we have to have somebody or something happen where that situation is made
better. That's just not him just getting papers or you know, being undocumented, Like somebody has to be able to recognize that that's an issue and then find a way to work around the current system to make it, like I don't know, just so that he can survive. Because Matteo's character, like, uh so they did this thing where fucking Glenn was recording interviews? Did
you secretly record our job interviews? Yeah, but you know, just so i'd have proof in case someone accused me of not hiring them unless they did me sexual favors. I mean Pastor Craig was falsely accused thirty times by women and man. They played everybody Addy's interview and when they played Mataos that was the first episode, yeah, because he started the first episode, Yes,
and it was I don't know. I teared up when I saw Mateo's interview because it's like his interview and like the day that he presented himself on the first day, Like all of that tracks so well with his character. I saw to say that if you give me the chance, I will work harder than anyone You know, I will literally dig through concrete with my bare hands until their bloody stumps and I have to do stuff with my feet. You know. I could use a hard worker like that at Sturgison Sons. Really,
thank you. So we do like denim or leather aprons, like a broad denim. Okay, I love it. I love it. Yeah, because he was there to work so hard and this was before he knew that
he was undocumented. Yeah, so it was just hustler. Yeah, and I thought that was such a I don't know, it was really nice to see kind of the tenacity and the vibrancy that this character had, And it was I don't know, I was just really touched to kind of recall how his story has moved through this season and through the whole show as an arc. Yeah, and I like that there wasn't some like miraculous thing or like he's suddenly is going to be documented, or like there wasn't some unrealistic like
saving of him. Like I mean, it was a little far fetched that Glenn, the diabetic man, who's presumably very poor because he has like a million kids, would be able to open a hardware store on a whim. Like there's something there. That's like a little fantastical to me, just just a little yeah, but it's a fantasy that I'm like, I want for this character to have, Like, that's a beautiful thing for him to go on to do. And I love that because I used to work at a
hardware store that wasn't like that. I wish, right, But I loved it when Matteo's like denhim or leather aprons denhim. It was so good. And what they did in the episode two that I really enjoyed was that they showed vignettes of the future as Garrett was closing it out. H Well, I want to say that I called that Glenn was going to open the store and hire people to work there. You remember that last episode, Yes, yes, and you called it the they're going to do something with the stars
on the ceiling. That was cute too, And I do like how they did that when your first mention and I was like, Oh, that's going to be awful if they do that. And then when this episode was going, I'm like, I kind of hope you put so stars in the ceiling, and then the way they did it was so perfect. It was really cute and it was just a moment. It wasn't like a big deal at the show. It's just part of their history. Yes, it was very well done. I really really enjoyed this final episode. It ties up some
loose ends. We find out that Elias is a fucking guy. Yes, good god, that's so creepy. Brett has a little eye moment, but he never speaks, so we will never know. Didn't get that. I'm okay with that. There are some things that I feel like are worth not knowing. Yeah, they gave they showed us myrtle. They did when she was drinking, when she was whend she do it with that tire they were
doing like a catwalk. Yeah. It was one of the episodes where they were in the store after hours, right, Yeah, were locked in. Yeah. It was so good. It was very cool, and it was nice to see pre COVID things, right because this episode was still COVID. But then they like because they were flashing forward, we had a vision of a potential future of like post COVID. Yeah, everyone at that. Yeah that was kind of beautiful too. Yeah, that was that was a really
touching sequence. And Jerry was there and it was so good, and Matteo and and uh Eric or whatever. They're married and it's so cute, and I'm like, that's probably hopefully going to be like the next like show is going to be like Cheyenne and Mateo and Bo and Eric. Well I was gonna mention this later, but they actually announced that they're not moving forward with Bow and Cheyenne. No why at least that's what NBC said, So maybe
they got picked up somewhere else. Unlikely, but ah sadness. Well, yeah, that's why it's good that we got such like a good closure with everybody regardless. And we also had Dina asking Garrett to be your boyfriend when the store closes, do you want to wi keep banging and banging like as my boyfriend? Yeah? Okay, cool, that was cute. That was super cute. I like how the very like straightforward she was like what did she say to him? Do you want to keep hanging and banging? But
as my boyfriend? That was so good. You can tell this lady owns a truck without a radio when we find out why she hates Glenn, Yeah, that's what we get in the interview. I also worked in the bird department at Petco. Oh god, you know, I don't get how people can keep birds as pets. They're disgusting rats with feathers. Uh huh.
Let's move on, because he hates birds and she loves birds. Yes, that was interesting to find out about Glenn too, because Jerusha used to like embroider birds and woodland creatures on people's outfits or like she could tell you what embroidered animal you were. Yeah. Who else did we see in the job interviews? We saw Amy? Yeah, we saw Jonah. It was Amy like cgi young. Yes, she was Amy. You were hot boner alert too. She's a teenager. Yeah, but I was a teenager then too,
so it's not weird. So glad I came back for this. We saw we saw Garrett with hair, Yeah, Garrett was rocking his interview. Yeah, we saw Dina, and we saw Jonah and Cheyenne with her blue hair. It was good. We didn't see everybody's interview, No, but Jonah's interview is what sparked he and Amy to have their conversation that was more honest and open, I guess because he was still angry I think in the previous episode or the previous conversation. Yeah, when they were at the greeting
cards and Yeah. They had an awkward interaction where he's like, I'm not here whenever you're just like unscheduled or whatever. I'm happy that you've figured it out. I really really am, but I'm not just I'm not just something
you can schedule for whenever you're free. You know, she didn't relate to him how serious she was about like wanting to go back with him, too, because she told the girls earlier that she's like regretted not marrying him, and that's kind of a big deal to say that, and he didn't know that she was saying it so awkwardly. Fuckingmy, But yeah, they got back together. Did they have another kid? Yeah? And the okay, the forwards beds and babies right, and Carter I think okay. And we
saw that Emma was wearing I think a Northwestern hoodie. Damn I did not notice all that. But yeah, I saw Emma and I was like, oh my god, she's so grown. Yeah, and I wonder if they c gied her a little bit on that, but it was cute. Yeah. And then so we had, you know, Garrett tries to sign off with the very you know, bye bye. Too cool for this attention shoppers, please bring your final purchases up to check out, because this store is
about to close forever on behalf of everyone here at Cloud Dyne. I'd just like to say bye bye. He doubles back to be sentimental, and I feel like they've done a good job with his character of like building to kind of this point where he would actually feel something about this job, not just shrug it off, but really like take an opportunity to be like, this
is my final announcement. Yeah, it was cool, and that this place did mean something to him and he does care about these people and they might be family, Like, yeah, yeah, it was really cool because we had him earlier in the episode trying to like brush off the idea that any of them are going to ever interact again. Yeah, we're not going to the Applebee's even And Garrett, for the contact list, you wrote email at email dot email. Oh really, it's too cool to keep in touch with
everybody, just being realistic. Man, Look, we work together and now we're gonna go work with other people. I'd rather skip the part where we email for a week trying to plan some fictional group trip. But we are doing a group trip because their plan was to either go to Kansas City or Tokyo. Where do you want to go, Jason with all your co workers? Like Vegas? Vegas? I think Tokyo a good one. I mean, I feel like they should maybe have found the middle ground between Kansas City
and Tokyo. Maybe like try like New York City or Philadelphia or something, Miami, New Orleans or something. Kansas City is like a couple of hours. Yeah, h On a personal level, like I'm just leaving a job after ten years of working there and so like all this stuff where it's like it's their last day and the last time they're doing everything like that all kind of hit me pretty hard. It was really good. I agree. I was definitely like teary eyed at the end when I saw them all at the
barbecue. Yeah, that fucking barbecue. I think because of the pandemic. That was one of the things that really caused me to like, just I miss that shit and I want us to be able to have it one day altogether. And that was really sweet that they put him like that. I don't know. Yeah, it was a really good episode, and I'm sad that Cheyenne and in her own show, we did get to see that Cheyenne was working at the news and could you imagine that that show Sturges and Sons.
That'd be a cool show, that'd be a great show. What the fuck, NBC, y'all are so stupid. It doesn't have to be about Cheyenne. It could be about Sturges and Suns, just because you don't have America Ferrera on the cast. And then you'd have Bo and his laundromat like next door. Yes, they're all on the strip mall or something. Oh and then Jonah, who saw was running for some sort of office. Yeah,
he was in Saint Louis doing some campaigning poster things. Yeah, and I think that really related to like we saw him doing an interview on the previous episode and trying to pivot all those questions. We've always seen him trying to fight for his fellow man. Yeah, he's political, he's a teamster. Yeah, so that was a good thing. I didn't really considered that for him, but like that totally made sense. Yeah, he's in politics. He seems like a politician to me. Annoying as hell. Yeah,
did we see anyone else and like what they go on to do? Mmmm? I mean we talked about everybody. Yeah, I mean we saw them all at that barbecue. Yeah, notably absent. No, I mean yeah, that's the end. Yeah, though it definitely gave me what I wanted from it. Yeah, it felt like a good ending. I can't fault it for much. No any other notes on your thing, not that I wrote down. We got one message from someone. Oh j Free twenty one
on Twitter said, absolutely loved it. I know the co host dislikes Amy slash America, but it was really heartwarming and gave closure to all the characters. Who's the co host? I got you? Oh, I don't like I don't like America Ferrera. You know, it's not that I don't like her. I don't know her. She's an actress that I that is in shows like I love her body of work. Outside of this, I think
mostly it's like the character of Amy and how I don't know. Well, I think you've been very clear on that before, but in this episode. I guess these last two episodes, I don't think she really rubbed you the wrong way. I didn't get that vibe from you. No, Yeah, she was okay, she was like, we knew what she was here to do. Yeah, she's here to get with Jonah to complete her character arc. And yeah, they did that, and it felt right. You've been here six years. Why, I don't know. It's a good job.
No, it's not. It's a terrible job. Not that bad, Jonah, Why did you stay here? Why do you think Amy? Yeah, it was good. It wasn't great, it wasn't spectacular. I still didn't get a wedding at the end, that's true. I'm sorry. I'm a Mexican American woman, okay, and whenever the end of the show happens, you get a wedding. But she's not Mexican, so maybe this is just cultural differences. But she was good. I think that was the character.
You know. I just don't like people that act like that character more or less because she was awkward and decisive and mostly weak in a lot of moments. And it's not I don't you know what, If anything, it's good to have that representation because it means that there are many versions of women of color that are being portrayed, right, Like we're allowed to be like in inadequate or weak or whatever, like we exist regardless. It's just like for
me, that character was just lackluster. I want to say, but that's just me, you know, Like I have different relationship with her work and how she's been portrayed, so I always want her to be like full and she was just like, did Amy ever feel like an actual mom in the show? Like, yeah, really not not every day? No, but she was a mom every day. I don't know, I don't know.
I appreciated the way they tied a lot of stuff back to the pilot episode, and especially the way that we're reminded how Amy started and she really felt like she was stuck, and how Jonah really did bring out this side of her that could like have fun and see that things could be better. Yeah. I hated how cheesy you were. I hated how woke you were.
I hated how often you use the word artisan. But most of all, I hated how you believe that life could be better than it was, and yet here we are, and my life is so much better than it was
because of you. And they did a good job of hitting those flashbacks and stuff, and those flashbacks were really they were really creative and really cool to kind of see that because I wasn't sure how they would touch back on those characters and their beginnings and these interview tapes were funny he introduces them and how he got the idea from his pastor being falsely accused of doing some sketchy stuff with men and women. So that was kind of a funny dig at the
pastor. But yeah, I like the flashback and it was nice to see Amy succeed in her life. Yeah, and she was doing just more like ambiguous corporate stuff with charts and yeahrafts. I liked, how I mean, throughout the series they've kind of pepvered in references to the Sturgis and Sun's store, and I kind of appreciate more now the Loel Anderson episode that really like brought it back to the forefront so that we could close with that with Glenn.
Yeah, that dog Food, it's a weird episode that I like that guy too though. That's the thing, Like, I really like that actor who played Little, but in this episode he just didn't hit me as funny at all. It was nothing funny. He was just bead and shitty. Well that's that's all I mean, thanks for I mean, yeah, I don't know America Ferrera still has work. I know that. I hope the other people get jobs because I know in a pandemic. It's hard. Yeah.
So yeah, I mean we're probably don't have the Bow and giante'spin off web series or something, come on, Sturges and Suns. But as far as this podcast goes, like, I don't know, I don't know. We'll be putting something else out on this. We'll rewatch the series and maybe like every season or something kind of revisited something. I don't know there. Oh that's yeah, you're just throwing shit on the wall and seeing what sticks. Huh. Yeah, well I really want to go back and rewatch a
series, That's what I'm saying. Oh, now that we see the end, yeah, okay, let's watch episode one. But are we doing a podcast with it again? Like, well, I don't want to do every episode again, No, that's a lot, but it'd be cool to like binge. I want to binge. Yeah, that's what I was saying. If we like rewatched every season and kind of jump back in, how it the reflections the spoilers. Yeah, I don't know, that'd be something maybe
just just a thought anyway. And I don't hate America Ferrera, Okay, I just don't like Amy. Amy's a fictional character played by America Ferrera and she's fine. She's still working in corporate married to a politician. Yeah, any any other thoughts on this finale. I really like the design of the Sturges and Son's logo with a key and the denim aprons. Then yeah, it was good. Yeah, good stuff. Yeah, have a heavenly day.
I do want to oh not yet. I do want to say thank you to everyone who's listened to this podcast along the way, and it's been fun doing it. Yeah, now you can tell your friends to watch it because some people won't watch a show until it's over. That's true. It's it'll be a good binge. Yeah, and it's six seasons. Yeah. Maybe there'll be a movie maybe like the one with Denzel Washington where he works at a lows and there's bad guys that come in and he shoots them with
a nail gun. Have you seen this that? But Cloud nine like it would be like a version like that plus home alone kind of situation. That's what I'm thinking. I don't know. And despite what some people like to occasionally comment, we don't hate this show. Well, yeah, I really love the show. Yeah, watch it. This is the second time i've watched it, not spend hundreds of hours on this podcast show. I hate
that's true. We just when you love something, you you can be critical of it and still love it. You know that means that you you love it enough to actually see its laws and still love it exactly. Yeah. Because and I'm also like a person who loves trash, So I don't think like not that I'm saying this show is trash because I'm sure it's been nominated for Emmy's or something, right, I don't know about that. Oh that's sad. Well, this almost Emmy who were nominated show is really good.
I don't know it's it's really good. And I think you if you got through it, I think you should tell people to watch it. Ask your cashier if they've seen it when you're going to the grocery store, because I think anybody who works in any sort of corporation would really enjoy this show because it's very telling of it, like it's very good to see the critique and it's not. I mean, the first couple of seasons are little. There's some things that are done that are like they did not handle that well,
but they keep up with the times. I think does have a depths. Yeah, that's it. Yes, have a heavenly life. All sales are final. Attention Cloud nine shoppers. this is the end. Get me wrong. It's a job. If jobs were fun, they wouldn't pay us to do it. But occasionally there were moments that weren't so bad, and for whatever reason, those are the only things I can remember right now. You know, most jobs suck ninety nine percent of the time, so you really, you really got to enjoy those moments that don't at any rate. Thank you for shopping with us. Cloud and nine is now closed.
