Episode description

This episode discusses subjects like depression, anxiety, and suicide. Viewer discretion is advised. If you or a loved one are struggling with mental health, contact the crisis hotline at 9-8-8

Host: Dr. Susan Buttross, Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, and Abram Nanney

Topic: Men and women suffer from mental health conditions at similar rates. Four out of five people who die by suicide are men. Celebrities like Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds, and many others have talked publicly about their struggles with anxiety, depression, and suicidal thoughts. We all have likely had someone suffer and perhaps die due to mental health struggles. Yet, countless men still experience difficulty with even using the words “mental health” in relation to how they feel. Let alone seek help. Today we’ll be focusing on men’s mental health, and we’ll talk about what we have been doing wrong to address it.
