Episode description

Welcome art collector Richard Connor to In-Focus Podcast Number 51. Richard is actually Dr. Richard Connor, Evolutionary Biologist!

He has recently retired as a Professor of Biology from the University of Massachusetts Dartmouth. Dr. Connor obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Santa Cruz and his Ph.D. from the University of Michigan.   Richard Connor had post-doctoral appointments at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution and Harvard University. He was also a fellow at the Michigan Society of Fellows as well as at the Center for Advanced Study in the Behavioral Sciences at Stanford University.   Dr. Connor, along with Rachel Smolker, co-founded the Shark Bay Dolphin Research Project in 1982. He is also a Principal Investigator and President of the Dolphin Alliance Project (DAP).

Listen in on his conversation as The Artist Index’s host, Ron Fortier delves more into Richard’s life and his obsession with art which started off when he was a weekend booth dealer buying from other dealers and at auctions and, then, one day, he saw the work of the deceased New Bedford, Massachusetts painter, Joseph Edwards Alexander (1947–2008).
