Award-winning Standard-Times news photographer Peter Pereira graduated from the University of Massachusetts at Dartmouth in 1992 with a degree in computer engineering. In 1998 he changed his focus to his true passion, photography. Since then, his images have graced the pages of Time, Newsweek, US News and World Report, Vogue (Australia), New York Times, Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, Washington Post, USA Today, and various other media outlets across the world.
In 2016, Peter was awarded the Medal of the Order of Infante D. Henrique by the President of Portugal. Peter has been named New England Photographer of the Year 11 times.
