All right back here at Jimmy's On First, we'll talk some baseball. Stephen Suza, what Jordan this little bonus visit with Stephen Susan courtesy at base by pros Academy dot Com. I mean, look, fairly big game tonight, so I think it makes sense to get Steve on the air and talk some baseball before the m's and Astro's coming up this evening. But joining us right now on the radio show, it's a guy with a brand new logo and a brand new look and a brand new color scheme. Baby, the head
coach of the Sounders, a brand new team that's right on fire. Ryan Schmetzer with us on the radio program from the big party across the street. How are you, man? What's going on? Well? Pretty good takes for taking time out. I know. Look, come on, let's go, Mariners. You guys got to get some magic back. Let's go. Yeah, no doubt. Hey, is is Jackson felt inebriated? Yet?
What's his what's his BAC right now? I think he was drinking up of the space needle when we're up there, when the colors in the flag went out, he started early. What I want to know is that if you saved any Kassam egos for me, because I'm heading over there where you are right after the show's over, Dick, I'll be happy. I'll bring some in my soup pocket. I love it. You know you would be the kind of guy to carry up flow love it way. That's what we love
about you. Well, first of all, before you get to what's happening on the pitch, tell us about today and why this is so important for the club man. Well, look, there's a lot of big things happening in our sport, you know, worldwide, certainly the growth of MLS. Uh. You know, we had the Women's World Cup, we got our fiftieth anniversary, the Men's World Cup that's coming in twenty twenty six. There's
a lot of exciting things. So the rebrand you know, started a bunch of a couple of years ago, at least when they started and talk about it in fifty years is a you know, it's a milestone birthday, I guess, milestone events. So they wanted to see if they could incorporate all of the logos, you know, get opinions from all the major stakeholders, you know, former players, fans, Alliance, council. Uh, you know, everybody putting their thoughts in there, and they came up with I
thought, soft is is a pretty cool, good look. Yeah, I saw you when when I first saw this morning, I thought simple, clean and cool. I mean it was just like it's stuff that I would run out and go buy right away. So obviously you liked it as well. Yeah. That jacket that Taylor Graham had on at the flag raising, that light blue jacket, I loved it. I thought it looked great. Yeah. Well, look, the most important thing I think. I don't want to ruin the party tie you look? Man, well, tie, your
look is the most If you're terrible, it's the most important thing. But this team is turning it around. You're in a five game unbeaten streak. What's the difference since that loss to Atlanta? You think, Man, well, I think the guys have just, you know, founder groove a little bit. I think everybody's rowing in the same direction. Guys are feeling a little more confident. We're getting, you know, contributions from different guys.
Everybody's stepping up, and Softy, it's coming down to crunch time. We either got to put up a shut up. We know, kind of similar to the situation the Mariners are going through right now. So what would you say if you were Scott's service tonight? He's called him self a must win game. How quickly can you turn a mojo around in a locker room or in this case a clubhouse? Can you turn it around in one game?
Oh? For sure? Well, Scott's an expert at it. He did a great job last year and everybody believing, you know, for us, I don't know, Dick, if I could point to one moment in time one game, certainly that loss to Atlanta. We took it on the chin. But ever since there, our road form has been good. I think that's a positive. You know, winning on the road and our sport is hard, but we've got some results. And you know, if Leo Chio wouldn't have taken a shirt off, maybe we get another three points. But
you know, hey, the trains going in the right direction. Yeah, I tell Leo, Leo, keep your clothes on while you're working. For God's sakes, it's a pretty simple thing. Brian Schmetzer with us, you got Christian Roldan back. What's sixty five minutes? I think in the last game, what Colorado. Is he is he fit for ninety? Is he ready for a full goal against Nashville this week? He is saucy. That's the best news that we've had in a long time. And you know,
maybe you could point to him coming back. It's kind of a spark. You know, we've missed his aggressiveness, We've missed his defending. You know, he does a lot of the small dirty things, the small little things I should say that make a team click. So having Christian backs critical for us in this playoff stretch. I read breaking news from our crack reporter Jackson Felts this morning, who is reporting that Ruy Diaz is back in full training.
So tell us about his game status for Nashville. He's available for selection, so he will see the field at some point in that game. Uh, you know, we might start Jordan upfront again. You know that worked pretty good in Colorado. But you know, certainly getting roles some minutes is critical. Scored a big goal for us against Portland, so he's finding his
form as well. Well. Listen, nothing you need my advice, but I think if you really want to take this thing to the next level, you gotta have a player named Handy Muktar, and I just like saying the name. I've been a big fan of Handy's for a long long time. By the way, to be honest with you, you got a jersey. Yeah yeah, yeah. Kids, So Handy muck Tar of Nashville. Tell me about what makes this guy so tough to take down? Man, Well, he's a tremendous player. We actually were looking at him, you know,
four or five years ago. We obviously passed on him because we already had Niko, but even tremendous Dollen. You got Walker Zimmerman, another center back that you know gets a lot of attention. Their solid team, Uh, they haven't. You know they haven't. When I say they're going a solid team, you know through their time as an expansion team, they've been pretty solid. But last few results haven't gone their way. So a team that's beatable even at home, Yeah, no doubt. All right, enjoy
it tonight, good luck this weekend. We'll talk to him and prison. All right, thanks, all right, care Brank Schmetzer with us on the show Mariners and Astros tonight, Scottie Service last night. We have to win tomorrow. Tomorrow borrow is today, and that means bonus time with Stephen Suza Junior talking Mariners Next on ninety three three KJRFM
