Welcome to the Sounders FC pre match show presented by Providence Swedish. Tonight's match is presented by the Western Washington Toyota Dealers. Sounders FC Sucker is brought to you by michelob Ultra ninety five calories and two point.

Speaker 2

Six grams of carbs.

Speaker 1

It's only worth it if you enjoy it, and by Delta Airlines, proud to donate one soccer ball for every mile run by Sounders FC players this season through Rave Foundations one Mile, one Ball program. The Provident Swedish pre mat show starts now.

Speaker 3

Well unbeaten in our last three your Seattle Sounders are now back in the playoff picture and as we hit a third of the way into the season, today the Ray Green are back here at Lomenfield, back home to face Saint Louis City SC, who we played on the road just about a month and a half ago, lost one nothing too. Hopefully we flip that result here today, back in our building. So welcome to the Sounder's EFSE pre match show presented by Providence, official healthcare partner of

Seattle Sounders FC. Jackson Felts, alongside the player Kellen Rowe and the coach Pete Viewing.

Speaker 4

We are here for the next half hour where Danny.

Speaker 3

Jackson will have the call for Sounders facing Saint Louis City Gentlemen.

Speaker 4

Ten games into the season, we hit kind of.

Speaker 3

Basically the third waypoint here after the game tonight three three and four, coming off that drawn Colorado, which we should open up by talking about, we get another Danny Mazowski goal, we get on the bad side hamstring injury to Jordan Morris, and as I have been saying for the last week and I will say for the last time right here, we should have been playing the entire second half a man up. Kellen, what are your thoughts there on that game we faced in Colorado.

Speaker 4

You can talk about the man up all you want.

Speaker 5

I understand what the ref was talking about in the sense that he didn't want to give the second yellow to be that red card.

Speaker 4

I get it. Do I agree with it.

Speaker 2

All the time?

Speaker 5

No, However, I understand it, and so I'm gonna let it happen. It was not a good game for the Seattle Sounders. It was not an easy one. Right you're in altitude. We'll talk about the altitude all you want, but you just didn't have a good quality passing game, running game, possession game.

Speaker 6

Finishing game.

Speaker 5

It just never came through for the Sounders, and unfortunately these things happen, and thankfully it happened on an away game and they still got the tie. So that's what's gonna be a positive right here. They still got a point on the road.

Speaker 3

Yeah, yeah, Pee, I mean really, it's three unbeaten. It's two wins in this draw. So overall, you look at the picture and it's i mean, Danny Mazowski, it's it's sort of there.

Speaker 4

There definitely is.

Speaker 3

A glasshof full glass of empty. Way you can look at it. I'm kind of both.

Speaker 7

Yeah, and with Kellen on that a tie there, take the point, Get onto this one. This one seems on paper very winnable today. But we haven't lost in three games, so that is good. I like five goals in the last three games. That's a good sign for us as well. So onto this one tonight.

Speaker 3

Onto this one indeed where Sounders we'll try to take advantage of a Saint Louis team that hasn't won now in six The last time they won a game was against the Seattle Sounders back on March fifteenth.

Speaker 4

After that, it was four straight losses, a couple of draws, nearly.

Speaker 3

Had a win over LAFC last week, but still that's a team trying to find their form as well. Right now, we'll talk all about Saint Louis a little bit later on. Normally this is the part of the show where I would get to the Delta starting eleven before we get to the Delta starting eleven, because I think there's a

couple things I mentioned Jordan Morris's injury. Let's quickly dive into the into the provident Swedish team health repoard because there are there is specifically one more name that if you weren't following you know the injury updates and what's going on at training throughout the week. It's probably gonna be new to ENDO a bunch of people. So first

up on the injury report, Jackson Reagan. That's the one we all know about out probably what two to four more weeks with the right hamstring injury suffered against Dallas. A while back, Jordan Morris mentioned he re injured his hamstring. It was to the same spot on that run late in the Colorado game. Now, according to Brian Spencer, he finds himself out roughly six weeks.

Speaker 4

A little bit of wriggle room.

Speaker 3

Perhaps, but we are now hoping Jordan Morris can get back for the Club World Cup next month. Paul Ariol, y'all know out with the acl tair, but then the new name Jesus Ferira was added to the report throughout the week. He is out today with an adductor injury. No Heyesus Ferira today for the Sounders. That's the injury report presented by Providence, Swedish official health care partner of Sounders fc SO. Now, with all of that said, p Fewing,

let's get to Brian Schmitz's. Brian Schmitzer's delta starting eleven.

Speaker 7

He's gone back to his favorite four to two, three to one. He's got his captain, Stephen Frye playing in his four hundredth game for the Seattle Sounders tonight in goal on the right, Alex Roldan knew Who on the left, Kim Kihee in the middle with Gomez Andrade, and in the middle of the park Ovid Vargas Christian rolled on on the left. Paul Rothrock starting his eleventh game. He's the only guy who's played every single started every single game, uh dalea Vega on the right, Rusnik in the middle,

and let's get his fourth goal in four games. Danny mssofskip front.

Speaker 3

Callen, what are we looking at from a Saint Louis's side before we get back to the Sounders lineup.

Speaker 5

Yeah, we'll get through this quick because we want to get back to that Sounders lineup, which I'm excited to talk about. But in goal, you got Lund on the right right back spot, you got Watts in the middle, you have Yarrow and Hybert on the left back spot.

Speaker 4

You have bomb Guard going for a four to three to three the three.

Speaker 5

In the midfield, you have Horn in the middle, post Trak on the left, Partel on the right. Up front, you have Wellhem, you have Tyshirt and then you have Klaus the Brazilian up top.

Speaker 4

So you said you're excited to talk about the Sounders lamp.

Speaker 3

But moving back to this four two three one, what's excites you about what Brian's doing tonight?

Speaker 5

Well, interesting because I want to see Kim Key in that back four right. I want to see him next to Yamar. I want to see new who back on that left side. And for me, the exciting part is you want to welcome Alex roll Dan back as well. But you want to see Albert Rusnak in that free ten role. He hasn't had that role this year just yet. He's coming back from injury. He looks to be fully healthy. You see him in training. He's playing a lot of

playing well. He's played some game minutes. How can Albert Rusnak connect in this game because he's without his favorite player to play into in Jordan Morris, can he find the same connection with Danny Massovski.

Speaker 3

I think that's the great question of Danny has three and three, but he's now gonna have somebody different feeding him the balls.

Speaker 7

Yeah. I do. Like we were talking out there about Christian mold on how and we had a little debate on is it because he's in this spot. I think he's having a terrific year. I don't know if you know he had these lingering concussions for a while. I don't know if those are I think they're completely gone now. But he just seems to have the freedom. So I like that Christian's gonna sit right underneath Albert. Your comment is good Albert getting back to that spot. He had

his best year in that spot last year. So and then the wingers, Paul Rothrock's going to keep doing what he's doing, and then Pedro de la Vega, let's get him engaged. So if they all are engaged, that attacking group and that defensive group is a very solid lineup for coach s Metzer.

Speaker 5

And you talk about the wingers, and we talking about Paul Rothrock, right, the classic winger.

Speaker 4

He is the workhorse on this team.

Speaker 5

He's the workhorse, while Page de Thevega on their side is the creator. Paul's gonna be the one to run down the ball when things are going wrong. Paul's gonna be the one to cross.

Speaker 4

The ball after beating the guy uh one v one.

Speaker 5

Page de Vega is the connector, and I love to see that because he's tucking in. So Alex Wroldon can do what he does best, which is get up and down that lineup.

Speaker 4

And so I think Brian Smetzer has a very.

Speaker 5

Good balance to his midfield and now going forward as well with Paul Roblocker and left kind of spreading the love on the outside, while Page de Thevega and Alex Gooldon kind of worked together.

Speaker 3

And I wanted to talk about Alex because that's the other person who's back in the starting line up, back from injury, Alex Roldan. It's Ben Kalani Cosa Rienzi in there in this in the three four three playing right wing back. Now into the back four, it's Alex Roldan Pete. So that's interesting, you know, getting your boy back there right back, and what he's able to do with Pedro, I think is gonna be a big interesting dynamic in this game.

Speaker 7

Yeah, and I'm sure he's s thrilled to be back. Players chatted with him a little bit yesterday and he's very eager to go. And you know, they had a little run where the guys who came in for injured players did a good job, and that always puts some pressure on players. So Alex knows he needs to perform well tonight because he's got a kid, a young kid right behind him who wants minutes. So there's a reason that he gets his spot back is the right reason.

Speaker 2

He deserves it.

Speaker 7

But he's also going to make sure he goes out and produces call.

Speaker 6

And I see you.

Speaker 3

You're looking at the bench. It's a strong bench as well. That's pushing these starters.

Speaker 5

It is pushing the starters, and you see a few newer names as well, which I'd love to see obviously, Kilanie back on the bench for the Alex Wildon which you know you might feature here. Colonie, you might see him at halftime, you might see him sixty minutes in, because you don't know how fit Alex is and his games kind of go differently. But I'm looking back at

Breed Baker Whiting making the bench again. You're looking at Ryan Kent, who's gonna make most likely gonna make an appearance later on in the game, hopefully a little more of appearance so you can kind of find him. Georgia

Manongu finding his way back into this this bench. And then you have the Tacoma Defiance, yes, kind of star forward here and David Sario and we're hoping and in my opinion, it'd be a great time, especially if we're up two zero, up three zero, or even just need a goal and you find a way to get Dissario on the on the field.

Speaker 3

If they need a goal. I mean, think about this Asase de Rosario is. I think the name you're probably gonna hear tonight. He's up with a short term loan agreement with Dacoma Defiance. You don't do that, I think, unless he's going to I think we're going to see him at some point tonight. You know, he really true forwards. It's him and Mazowski on this team right now, So I think, absolutely think. And also keep in mind, this is a guy who's MLS Next Pros Player of the Month in April.

Speaker 4

Five goals in three games.

Speaker 3

Won him that honor, and those added to his league leading eight goals so far this season for Jacoma Defiance. This isn't just a nice player you have to bring up for a death piece. This is a very good forward who has a nose for goal. He can score a bunch of goals. And if the Sounders are in a close game late and Mazowski's legs are tired, Pete Asase, Dave Rosario is somebody that we could bring on and see have a memorable debut tonight.

Speaker 7

I totally agree. And you know he's with a pedigree, right He's Dwayne de Rosario, the MLS All Star from Toronto with a great grit and bite.

Speaker 2

That's his son.

Speaker 7

And the fact that Chris Corner said to me, I met him yesterday and chatted with him for a minute. Chris Corner says, I bet he scores four goals before Jordan Morris comes back. Chris Cornish.

Speaker 4

Does an incredible outtake there.

Speaker 7

I said, I'm gonna use that tomorrow.

Speaker 5

I mean, I will say, if he's going to be anything like his father, right, he's going to find a way to score goals.

Speaker 4

And he's done it at many pieces and as a coach.

Speaker 8

Right.

Speaker 4

Brian smetters thinking I have nothing to lose, no if I put him in.

Speaker 7

No, I agree, And I think Jackson's right. I think it's it's the kind of situation where you want to give him a chance. Don't sit him on the bench. Yep, he's gonna be hungry and right, his dad was such a tenacious, hard working, blue collar, talented, skilled fighter.

Speaker 5

Right, I've never been scored on so pretty but kicked right beforehand good by the same player, by the same player. I mean, you talk about the grits you can score and kick, and you talk about the grit that he had, right, the determination he had, that the kind of that that dirty drive that he had, which is some of the best players in the world, some of the best athletes in the world, you talk about Michael Michael Jordan, no one says he's a nice guy. No, right, Kobe Bryant,

no one said is that he's a nice guy. Those those but Michael Phelps, Those those real, real athletes that are at the top of their game, were never nice. No, however, they're good people. They were never nice, and there's a difference. There's a difference.

Speaker 3

We are just about a half hour away from kickoff here Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Lumenfield. Now back to Seattle Soundersucker on Sports Radio ninety three point three kjr FM.

Speaker 3

Welcome back to the Province of Media's Premat show here at Blumenfield sun setting on the stadium. Very nice night for soccer for Sounders and Saint Louis City sc who we're going to take a look at right now here on the Premat show. They're off to a two four and four start to the season. You mentioned last segment. They haven't won since March fifteenth, when they beat Seattle at home four straight losses Philadelphia, Austin, KC, Columbus and then back to back draws which had pretty good draws

Vancouver LAFC, which they nearly won last week. It took a extra time winner for them, out of time winner for them to get that equalizer and end up only walking away with one point there for Saint Louis and ten points, have just three back of Seattle for right now, right now, third away into the season, the final.

Speaker 4

Playoffs spot in the Western Conference.

Speaker 3

But I think the conversation for Saint Louis is about can their defense adjust to lots of changes. Roman Burke, They're star goalkeeper, he's still out.

Speaker 4

With a hand injury.

Speaker 3

They also defensive midfielder Chris Durkin out with the knee injury, center back Henry Kessler out of the hamstring injury, full back Thomas Toutland out with also a hamstring injury. They have this great defense which have which is only given up eight goals in ten games so far this year. But Kellen lots of changes on that back line and in that back six. I'm wondering if they can handle it.

Speaker 6

Well.

Speaker 5

There's gonna be a system throughout its team, right It's just the way it works, and so you like to think that you can plug and play. You have one injury down, Okay, you can plug into player in like we did with Kilaney, with Alex you think that Ken you know, Jackson Reagan comes in, k Kehey comes in, and you think, okay, we can just kind of plug and play these teams and there's a system here and we're gonna find it. But it doesn't always work that way,

especially with so many out. Like if you imagine if Steven Fry was out, Jackson rag was out, and knew who was out, Alvix roll Don was out, you would think, hey, we're gonna give up some goals. So Seattle Sanders is looking at this kind of licking their lips, going, oh, here.

Speaker 3

We go, and we could we could we get some goals here a little bit like when Nashville was missing Walker's him in two weeks ago three nothing inside of thirty five minutes.

Speaker 7

Yeah, no question, you know what I had. The one thing I'll say, I have a lot of faith in their coach, roll Off Melburg, Sweden twelve years national team, right, and then the Austin Villa Long I think he'll get a moregan I see's the kind of guy that will, like Brian Schmitzer does, he'll and you know this better call and you played for him, but where he'll get in someone's head and give him assignments that they can handle. So they're not he's not going to push him to

do too much. They're gonna stay in their lane. But because of his career and he's been the only coach there right so they know him. I think he'll give assignments and I think they'll find away and they'll motivate and find a way to try to keep another clean sheet.

Speaker 4

And what I'm what I'm seeing as.

Speaker 5

I kind of watch Saint Louis warm up here, is that I don't know if they're gonna go with.

Speaker 4

A back four because what I'm seeing now and what I keep seeing is there was a three.

Speaker 9

In the back.

Speaker 4

There was almost a four, and it almost looked as if there was.

Speaker 5

A five and so and to a smart sense, in that sense, if you do have a bunch of defenders out, you want to put as many people back there as you can. And so if you see this on the screen and you do find like, hey, this is a little more people in the back than you think it might be a five back and they kind of push some people so they can have some sense of security.

Speaker 4

Yeah, as as the Seattle Sounders come through.

Speaker 3

Joey Zanaboni is the play by play voice of Saint Louis City. We're gonna hear from him coming up on our next segment. But I will also mention that for Saint Louis, the other the big topic is great defense. The other big topic that they don't want to talk about clearly is how bad their offense is. Yeah, because offensively, they've only scored seven goals in ten games. That's the second low in MLS. Montreal only has four. They do not score a lot. They hartle, they got a couple

other people. You know, Louvin scored the free kick against US toy shirt up top, but not a lot of offense on this team for Saint Louis. So I just got to make sure we don't make any mistakes against any the present. You think about Yamar last week in Colorado, none of that.

Speaker 4

Don't give him.

Speaker 3

Anything easy and hopefully we can keep the clean sheet. Before we get back to Saint Louis, let's get into our players to watch for the Seattle Sounders Callen.

Speaker 4

Who you going with for your player to watch? We talked about it earlier in the pregame. Albert Rusnak.

Speaker 5

I want to see how he feels in this the role that he is used to in that free open, find the game, find the ball, create your assist, create as many goal opportunities.

Speaker 2

As you can.

Speaker 4

Albert Rusnak is my player to watch.

Speaker 17

You know.

Speaker 7

I looked at the list and there's a lot I'd like to choose from, but I'm going to say Christian rold On today. He's going to be in the middle of the park. I want to pick Steph because it's four hundred games, but I think Christian Oldon has to do what he's been doing.

Speaker 18

And that is.

Speaker 7

Keeping the tempo of the game, keeping the ball moving, winning. He picked up a lot of passes, so I want to see Christian really, you know, boss the game around today. I like that.

Speaker 4

I'm gonna go with his brother, Alex.

Speaker 3

So Brian Schmizer had a press conference on Tuesday and we asked about you know, Alex, and we asked about Kilanie and he Brian said, there's not that much difference between the two of them competitively right now, and Kalani out of the starting lineup, Alex rolled on back into the starting lineup tonight, and that tells me something that if there's not that much difference between him, Alex, you're back in the starting lineup, show us and show us

that you need to kind of keep being the starter here.

Speaker 4

Go out and have a good game.

Speaker 3

I also quickly mentioned Alex will find himself keep putting in crosses from the primus cist zone. Saint Louis before March fifteenth had an own goal in every game they faced Seattle, four straight games with an own goal. Nirwinsky Hybrids who's also in tonight, Tim Parker twice, let's get back into that trend. Across comes in from Alex Roldan finds Kyle's foot into the back of.

Speaker 4

The nets, and for another one. I'd like to get back to that.

Speaker 3

So that's overall player to watch, but I want to see Alex Roldan show that he does deserve this right back starting role as he's back in there tonight.

Speaker 4

For Kalani, we'll get a break here, We'll come.

Speaker 3

Back and hear more about Saint Louis and what's going on with the visitors Tonight that's coming up next year on the premat show Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM.

When the Sounders win, you'll win a free mik Chick in the following day with minimum two dollars purchase Exclusively in the app, you're talking about Saint Louis City, the team who's in the building to face Seattle tonight with the chance to catch up with their play by playboys Joey Xanaboni. Yes, that's true, Joey Xanabony, and he and I caught up just a few minutes ago talking about his Saint Louis team.

Speaker 21

Yeah, thanks so much for having me, Jackson. That was a good game for a city, a one nothing victory over the Seattle Sounders. Big free kick by Edward Louvin making the difference in that game early, and then this defense that we've had this year, getting through a couple of moments that were a little bit nervy, including a penalty kick that was assessed and then erased by var for you in stoppage time, but pulled it out for a one nothing victory. It's been a little bit of

tough sledding since that. Obviously, there's no secret about it. City looking for its first win since March fifteenth. You know, the defensive job that Olaf Melberg has done with this team is incredible. I mean, it is one of the staunches and one of the best in all of Major League soccer, and I think we saw a glimpse of what this offense can do in a two to two

draw last weekend on the road at LAFC. Had a lead until very very late in that game, had some beautiful offensive play, and I think the guys are starting to find a little more confidence and a little bit more of a groove around the goal.

Speaker 4

Yeah.

Speaker 3

I imagine right now it's a determined group to say we didn't get the result last week, we didn't get the win, Let's go get the win this week in a place like Seattle.

Speaker 4

Joey, I'm wondering.

Speaker 3

You talked about the defense and it's been so good, only eight goals given up this year.

Speaker 4

Now.

Speaker 3

Offensively, though, that's where the part that I think the Sounders are looking at, saying we have hope, then we have thoughts that we can get a clean sheet against Saint Louis. Where are the offensive weapons, where's the offensive movement coming from that can threaten Seattle today?

Speaker 21

I'll tell you it was great to see Cedric toy Shirt get on the scoreboard last weekend at LAFC about five minutes into the second half. Toy Shirt is a big weapon for this offense. It was very good, was scoring at about a goal every other game pace. After joining the team last July, it's been a little bit different. He's dealt with some injuries and some absences in the preseason and into the season, but it looks like he's starting to find his feet. I've been so impressed with

Marcel hardl Cello has been excellent. He's a guy that was also picked up late in the summer last year and he's the biggest signing as far as dollars go, in team history, and he's lived up to it. He's done a great job orchestrating this team offensively, and it does start in the back. I think we've had guys generate some offense out of the back, which is not easy to do when you don't have the weapon foot of Roman Burkey or Harry Kessler, who's out scratched once

again because of injury as well. The distribution hasn't been able to come out of the back because of the injury, and I think that marcell has done a good job to lead us forward a little more confidence in front of the goal. We just got Simon Betcher's loan picked up and Klows I think has worked really hard and generated a lot of chances. A little more confidence in front of the goal will make all the difference for this team.

Less than ten minutes away from kick Here are Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at Luminfield. Tonight's countdown a kickoff has been presented by Emerald Queen Cassina, the entertainment capital of the Northwest. Sounders Saint Louis. When he met five times in MLS play, Ray Green have a four to one to zero record against them, only lost coming back on March fifteenth.

Speaker 4

Head coach Brian Schenzer should.

Speaker 3

Be mentioned, has recorded one hundred and twenty nine regular season wins in his career since taking over the club in twenty sixteen.

Speaker 4

He is now one win shy of entering.

Speaker 3

The top ten of all coaches in MLS history, so obviously looking for that win tonight.

Speaker 4

On the same topic of milestones.

Speaker 3

Callen Pete our goalkeeper tonight, Stephen Fry a massive, massive number tonight here as he makes his start.

Speaker 5

I mean, four hundred starts for a single club is an incredible thing to have, especially in this day and age where players are moving around multiple places, they're going to different leagues, they're going to different teams, they're kind.

Speaker 4

Of, you know, not lasting as long as a Stephen Fry has regularly in his thirty ninth year or thirty ninth birthday, I believe it is just not too long ago. So he's an incredible player.

Speaker 5

He's been an incredible leader, but first and foremost, he's been an incredible goalkeeper for.

Speaker 4

The Seattle Sounders. And we talk about it all the time about we talked about it last week.

Speaker 5

The saves that Stephen Fry makes for now, for us now are regular saves, but for everyone around the world they're incredible. But for us, we're so used to it because he's done four hundred of them each each and every weekend.

Speaker 7

No, you're correct, and you look at his resume and he's got two of Molesta Championships, he's got a supporter shield, he's got a he's the only guy that has in a champions league, and he also has the Canadian Cup Cup whatever that Toronto, right, Yeah, Yeah, Toronto. He is such a great ambassador for the team, his professionalism. You know, I follow him a little bit on social media, and you know, season's over, goes on a little vacation, comes back, gets right back to work really quick.

Speaker 3

Callan you you had the number four hundred career starts tonight as he makes it for Seattle.

Speaker 4

You just had this guy you gave me in the break. How many of those are shutouts?

Speaker 5

He has one hundred regular just regular season, right, We've seen him in the playoffs and we know he has some shoutouts in the playoffs. So over twenty five percent of here the games that Steph and Fried plays, he has a shutout, which is.

Speaker 4

An incredible ses third and now what.

Speaker 5

Second second overall in the MLS of shutouts, just right behind the who just got a naughty dougraded into the Hall of Fame of Nick Romondo. Right, So if there's not a second goalie that goes in there, it's gotta be Stephan for.

Speaker 3

Absolutely incredible Steph four hundred tonight here wearing Seattle colors.

Speaker 4

Quickly, we got to get through it. Key's the match, thirty second seats. What are we looking for?

Speaker 5

Well, one, your big name guy right now, you're mister four hundred needs to have a good game. You gotta find a way to get Danny Massowski in front of goal and keep this streak going and find a way to kill this this lackluster defense that Saint Louis has.

Speaker 2

For me, it's defending.

Speaker 7

We got to get that shut out and just saying for Steph that would be a great thing. The crowd's fantastic tonight. By the way, I've not seen this kind of energy on the walkout for quite a while, and I think it's from the last game at Nashville that they're picking up where they left off.

Speaker 2

So wing play very very important.

Speaker 7

Brian Offen says, you know, one, dala Vega is getting the cross in Rothrock's got to get on the other end of it, and vice versa.

Speaker 23

Good evening for MEQUC pitch here at lumen Field this second matchup of the season between your Sounders and Saint Louis City SC.

Speaker 2

Saint Louis started the season with four straight.

Speaker 23

Clean sheets, including the one they'll win against the Sounders back in March.

Speaker 2

There's been a tough run since then, with just two points from their last six games and an anemic attack.

Speaker 23

Saint Louis are trying to get out of their slump, with no goals or points in their previous matches at lumen Field. Their task this evening will be tough for all f Melburg's men. For You're Sounders and Brian Schmidtz's men has been turnaround of sorts since their loss to Saint Louis in mid March, with one loss in their last six games, unbeaten at Lumenfield in twenty twenty five and seven points from the last three games.

Speaker 2

It's the Sounders who are feeling confident.

Speaker 23

With Jordan Morris picking up an injury last week, it will be Danny Massovski, with three goals in the last three games, who will lead the line all the way to Club World Cup. Earning three points tonight is imperative before they head on.

Speaker 2

The road again for three straight away games.

Speaker 23

I'm Danny Jackson alongside our all star cast this evening with Steve.

Speaker 2

Zach Rani, former Sounders.

Speaker 23

Winger here in da booth and Michelle Ludker down on the sidelines and as the players get ready to go, let's get you the Delta. Starting eleven for your Sounders. Stefan Freyn in goal for his four hundred all camp appearance for the Sounders.

Speaker 2

Are back four of Alex Roldan Ye.

Speaker 23

Mark Kinky and knew Who Christian alongside Obed in the middle of the park, pegrodla Vega, Albert and Paul Rothrock and then as we mentioned, three gold Men in the last three games, Danny Mussovski up front for all lf Melburg's men. It's London Gold, about three of Yarrow, Boomgarden and Hebert so Is, nikhil Wat's Turtle Horn, Ustrek and Vallum in the midfield, and then two shirt alongside jau Klaus up front.

Speaker 2

So scarves are up. Perfect night for soccer.

Speaker 23

Sounders in their sailors see kit tonight, dark green with some slashes of light blue. They're attacking the north end, the goal to our left. And then Saint Louis and they're all white kit.

Speaker 2

Of green shirts, shorts and socks. They're attacking the south end, the goal to our right.

Speaker 23

So Saint Louis about to get us going here Steve the guy on the road. It's gonna be three tough games Houston, LAFC and Portland.

Speaker 2

It's all about winning home games. How do they do that tonight?

Speaker 6

I think more than ever you want again early goal.

Speaker 22

It's a Saint Lewis team that has always got seven but also only conceded eight.

Speaker 6

So can you score early? Because it's the kind of game.

Speaker 22

The longer it stays nil nil, it makes it little, makes me a little bit nervous.

Speaker 6

So if you score early and.

Speaker 22

Now they have to open up and play out of their show a little bit, I think that pains in the sound his hand. So look for a fast start, playing a bit more direct than usual, balls in behind, try to get the first goal early to really change what all off.

Speaker 6

Melburg's team came here to do.

Speaker 22

We just keep it tight and keep it nil nil as long as possible and hope to steal one, maybe from a set piece or a transition attack.

Speaker 23

Yep, no, who's slashing it long as the ball comes into the center circle knocked forward by a horn picked up quickly by Rusnak in the lineup tonight for Ferrara, who's missing due to an adductor strain that he picked.

Speaker 2

Up in practice this week.

Speaker 23

But Jesus Ferrara on a rich vein of form as well, maybe not in front of goal, but certainly in assisting five assists on his year in MLS campaign already. So early feil and that's on Vargas late in the challenge. Referee walks over the far side the Sounders right opportunity for Rosneck to get involved in this early free kick as the big men go up, kim kyhy steve as

he walks up to find his spot. He's been a real strong presence in the back line, whether it's a three or in a four tonight with Jackson Reagan out.

Speaker 22

Yes for how goold yam On Reagan have been kim Ky, he kind of like in his first thing, you don't have to mention him too much.

Speaker 6

He's kind of there.

Speaker 22

He's steady, does his job, doesn't really get too rough for a quite a position, and I think he's been a very very good pick up for the Sounder Is.

Speaker 6

Obviously in this past offseason.

Speaker 23

Bore comes in by Rosnack a little short but flicked up in the air by Roald Dard, knocked back in by that man kim Ky.

Speaker 2

He headed clear. There's Rosnak picking it up, but ask for hamball. It didn't.

Speaker 23

It deflected right into the arms of Ben Lunt, who's still in the goal in place of romand Burkey, the ever present store ward back there in the Saint Louis goal. It was an injury that Burkey picked up the fry before the Saturday game in mid March, right before the Sounders visited Saint Louis. He's been out since it was a hairline fracture in his hand. He's back in practice. He should be ready to go in the next couple of weeks. But Lund with seven saves last week, including

a penalty save against bow Wonga. He had one of his standout games in his MLS career, but Saint Louis couldn't get away with.

Speaker 2

Anything other than a point.

Speaker 23

It was a last minute goal by Boowonga, who earned the point down in.

Speaker 2

La As another foul. This time it's going to be on the Sounders.

Speaker 23

Left, almost an identical position, quickly taken this time by rolled On into his brother Alex. Around the corner by Mussoski, back he up by Vargas, picked up by Hebert.

Speaker 2

They quickly snatched by rolled On.

Speaker 23

He's been doing that so well this season as Christian As the Sounder's habit on this near side the left eighteen yards of the end line with Rothrock, who just tries to flick it around the corner, goes over this near sideline for a throne.

Speaker 22

But that's exactly the kind of start you want to have. I love how one the ball was, how quickly the sound has want it back now that means Christian Road on albhen Vargas playing a little bit higher than usual because I don't think I have to worry about Klaus running in behind him. So ye Mark Kimki heat can push roll down in Vargas a little bit higher than usual to win the ball up high and keep this team under pressure because I don't think that in behind thread.

Speaker 6

If I say like an NAFC, it's not the same tonight.

Speaker 2

It definitely makes a change. You know, you can step your line up a little higher.

Speaker 23

Squeezes that midfield sounds to got a chance to do what they did so well against Nashville's pick the ball up in dangerous areas. Here they go with that ball the food of yam are stepped high, as we just mentioned inside the attack in half now with Vargas rolls it out to this near side the left t Rothrock drops his shoulder, clips it in with his right foot to the backstay flies over the end line. It's gonna

be a goal kick here. Early stages at luremin Field fourth minute Sounders nil Saint Louis nil.

Speaker 22

It's a good idea about Paul roth Rock cuts inside, puts across just a little bit too much on it there, but it's been a good start. The intentions there by the team playing on the front foot Sat Louis can barely get out of it on half right now well off earth and I've seen from the sound is so far everyone's involved, getting lots of touches on the board, and I think the Senderest team definitely came here to play it tight.

Speaker 6

I mean, if scored seven because.

Speaker 22

He needed eight, that doesn't scim goals to me, you'll open to me if for the sound is, can you score early and really force them to play outside of deskin.

Speaker 23

Ye four losses out of the last six games, I think two points and two ties.

Speaker 2

Ball over the top to roth Rock, It's gonna skip through. Lund comes out.

Speaker 23

It's big six foot six frame outside the eighteen yard box, cleans it up well. Ball goes down the line picked up by Yamaro. Has been solid in the last couple of weeks.

Speaker 2

Had a bit of a stutter game last week, but all in all it's been solid there. Steps in game up, it goes down to Klaus down the left.

Speaker 23

Town Side comes in good clearest by Kim Keyhee picked up by Alex rolled on inside their own eighteen yard box finds Pedro de la Vega, who feels the pressure behind, doesn't go down, kicks possession all down the line by Gama far side the right Missosky goes down, picked up by Ustrecht.

Speaker 2

Now it's Saint Louis across the true Sha picked up.

Speaker 23

Well again second time already in this game by Christian rolled On, drives forward cross half way Len He go supported by new down this left hand side crowd asking anew.

Speaker 4

Who to go.

Speaker 23

He obliges step over towards the end line, cuts it back. Christian rolled On in support, eighteen yards from the end line, just drops it back to his fellow midfield partner.

Speaker 2

Vargas had its one hundred. The pairents ball goes in behind. Here's ross I get Sunny eighteen. It's a good save by Lunch over the end line. It goes It's gonna be a corner kick, first corner kick of the game where the Sounders are pressing.

Speaker 6

What a save.

Speaker 22

That is a fantastic saying. I'm just seeing a replay here. The football's really good. Rafa's boiling behind. I thought Albert would quite back initially, he does the right thing hard to know. And that's what the legs the goalkeep by almost pulls him between his legs its back anchor and the ball goes up for.

Speaker 6

A corner kick.

Speaker 22

But a fantastic attack by the Sounders really close to making it one Nilk.

Speaker 23

The Sounder is looking good and in these earl stages corna kick on the right hand side outsting up by russlike headed across the face.

Speaker 2

Of goal by Yema goes out for a goalkick.

Speaker 23

Remains Neil nelen with that for the first time this evening, We're gonna throw it down to Michelle.

Speaker 2

Good Evening, Michelle Good, evening, you.

Speaker 24

Guys, you both have had some wonderful interesting statistics on both Saint Louis and the Sounders tonight. I wanted to just add to it, Danny, as you were saying, Saint Louis hasn't won a match since they've played the Sounders last They're on a six match winless streak, and as Steve pointed out, they've currently had fifteen goals between them and other team scored between the whole season. When we look at all ten games of them this season seven

four to eight against. That is the second fewest of any team in MLS, and they are also tied with the lead lead of five shutouts. So adding to why this could be such an interesting matchup tonight is that the Sounders, when we look at them with their four matches at home this season, they have scored ten goals already at home during.

Speaker 25

Those four matches. To put that in a little bit in perspective, last season in twenty twenty four, it took them eight home.

Speaker 2

Matches to get to ten goals banks Michelle.

Speaker 26

Yes, Sounders certainly five against LAFC, three against Saint Louis, two against Charlotte, that nil nil tie against Houston, who will be next week's opponent.

Speaker 23

Funnily enough, it was Houston who followed Saint Louis back in March, so saying one two punch for the Sounders, all gets clipped in by Saint Louis, headed clear by Alex Roldan center, the park cleaned up well by Rossnick. Not the best place to angle a header, but here come the Sounders left hand side, right in front of the sounder Is bench with rossneck. It's gonna have a bit between his teeth today to show Brian that he

deserves that spot. It's as Ferrera's filled it well, but as we mentioned, picked up an injury during the week, and it might not be goals for Ferrera, but he started to find his feet step in terms of yeah, way he wants to play.

Speaker 22

Yeah, And I think from day one you can see his quantity. I think he's had some big chances. If he's ones, you know the one in color Rondos caught back to him. He put over the crossbar as a strike in that position, you've got to just see one, get getting monkey.

Speaker 6

Off your back.

Speaker 22

So Farre's playing well, he's combining well, obviously getting assists. Brash Messi told before the game. Look, I like how he's defending. He works for the team, takes up good passing. Then he's defensively. But of course he's bought in to score goals and he knows that. But it is a true competition between him and Apple Rusnak.

Speaker 23

Right now, it's Saint Louis down the left hand side to Vallum, come back to Horne. The possession between the two Saint Louis players on their left hand side.

Speaker 2

Now it's Vallom's gonna whip it in good.

Speaker 23

Cross towards Klaus strike good block by gamer it was Hartler picked it up now again and then collected by Stephan Fryan sky Blue hit tonight as he rolls the ball out safe set of hands. Of course, as ever, because it has been for eleven plus seasons here in Seattle, Saint Louis Steve aren't gonna sit back and accept the sound as dictating player. They're gonna come out of the blocks here and trying to earn that first win in six They will.

Speaker 22

They'll pick and choose their moment, especially getting the board out wide and boards into the bock.

Speaker 6

Klaus is a very good aerial presence.

Speaker 22

I think the worst thing penalting that is that wants to play to zero zero is if they score first, because then they just double down and really go into their shell. So you gotta be careful if you're the Sounders as you go seeking that early goal, that you don't leave too much spacer behind, because they do have the quality towards boat.

Speaker 23

It comes Saint Louis trying to find the foot of two ship picked up by the Sounders's done that so well. In these early stages, Bill bounces around a little awkward for both the Sounders and Saint Louis. The little step up by new crowd like that first time ball by Farguest tries to find a brothers night, lets it go, picks up on this near side by Hebert Saint Louis build.

Speaker 2

We'll throw it down to Michelle.

Speaker 25

I'm sure just a.

Speaker 24

Second ago on the radio, you guys heard the crowd erupt when Stephan Fry picked up the ball. Of course you mentioned he's making his four hundredth all time club appearance tonight for the Sounders. He is one of seven players now to reach that mark doing so for one specific club.

Speaker 2

When you look at the.

Speaker 24

Name of those seven players that he is now amongst, at least four of them have been big name US men's national team players. And Stephan Fry also is the only player in MLS history to win a Canadian Championship, US Open Cup, Supporter Shield, MLS Cup and Conca calf champions Cup. Of course, the Canadian Cup was when he was with Toronto. He of course credits Tommy Doutra, goalkeeper coach, with why he's been able to succeed so much over his eleven seasons with Seattle.

Speaker 23

Yeah, thanks, Michelle, Tommy Duscher has been there for years, of course, started with Casey Kell. As the ball comes in heady cleared by Kim kyhe one hundred and nineteen, clean sheets for Steph and Fry as well. He passed that mark just a tend full of months ago. At one hundred and twelve it was Hartman. Now he pulls that second spot all on his own. See clips towards Nick Romondo, who's on one hundred and fifty four, has got some ways to go until he hits that mark.

But Stephan Fry, based on the way he looks after his body.

Speaker 22

Yeah, I was gonna say, I don't think he's slowing down. So I haven't talked to Steph.

Speaker 6

I saw him yesterday. I was at a training ground a couple of days ago. He looks fit, he looks shop.

Speaker 23

Bore comes in headed clear by Yamo. Suders haven't defend the last five minutes or so. As the ball gets cleared. Twelve minute here lumin Field ninety three point three KGr FM headed clear by rolled On, remains nil nil. It's good open games so far, both teams looking for a

needed win for different reasons. Sounders trying to get that three points before they hit the road for the next ten days or so, tough places to go, a hot and humid Houston awaiting the next Saturday, and then there'll be a Wednesday trip to l EFC and then a Saturday trip down south to Portland.

Speaker 2

So Sounders, as ever, there's an MLS like to do, like to pack in May. It feels like the Christmas period.

Speaker 22

It does a lot of games, and I look at the schedule a few days ago when it makes this game more important because those are three very tough away games, no matter which kind of team Houston has, going to Houston never easy. And then of course Eli important and probably the Sound of two biggest rivals in recent years, those won't be easier at all. And so yes, you should win your home games anyway. But I think just knowing what's coming up on the horizon, it makes three

points tonight will go a very long way. And the Sound a team that's been in good form, been a very good form.

Speaker 6

You want to keep that going.

Speaker 22

I just step into a very difficult stretch in your schedule while you're missing some very key guys.

Speaker 2

Yeah, exactly. Jordan Morris, as we heard this week, picked up an injury. Last week. We saw him going down at the very end of that game.

Speaker 23

It has reaggravated that same hamstring injury they just came back from, and Herbura and Tremetchi will be out for six weeks or so plus or minus. Takes your right to about Club World Cup time and see for any player you don't want to be coming back right in the midst of about to face like Sir Paris and German or Athletico Madrid.

Speaker 2

That's gonna be certainly a focus for Jordan to get back. It's the showcase himself to the very best on the biggest stage.

Speaker 23

Right now and club football of course, the Champions League and this Club World Cup the FIFA is introduced, Steve, It's gonna make it exciting four weeks here in the United States come June.

Speaker 22

It will and then you get to play these big teams in real games that matter, and I think games they're gonna want to win.

Speaker 6

Everyone wants to.

Speaker 22

Kind of lift that trophy and be considered officially the best club side.

Speaker 6

In the world.

Speaker 22

We normally give it to the who wins the europe In Champions League, but you gotta win the fief for Club World Cup really to prove it so I think they won't take any of these games lightly. And if you're the Sounders, you've known about those games for a few months and you'll be looking forward to those putting on the show. Fans will be out, so I'm excited for it just as a fan.

Speaker 2

Yeah, let's remind you all the fans out there.

Speaker 23

Sounders host three games Vota Fogo, Athletico Madrid, Paris and Jerman. Before they get to that, they have to figure out Saint Louis. The blow goes in cleared of the six yard box by Saint Louis, boll down this near side.

Speaker 2

The Saint Louis roy picked up well.

Speaker 23

By Kim Key, steps in on Klaus picked up now by Vargas, rolls it to the Amar.

Speaker 2

Sounders in possession.

Speaker 23

In there, attacking half of the field, attacking the goal to our left. In there, seek it tonight as a ball gets whipped in good delivery headed by de la Vega for foreign place for Dela Vega attacking an aerial ball on the back stick, but it got there went over a goal kick here in the fifteenth minute.

Speaker 22

The Sounders have looked good when they've moved the board fast into the final third and then gone from left to right, all right to left when they're playing a bit side to side just to shift the background of Saint Louis and then finding gaps for whether it's old bed to run with the border off the board, Albert Russknack rough Rock. Getting those guys in advanced positions able to run at the back line or make runs in behind.

That's when they've looked really dangerous. But so far, I'll give credit to Send Louis flaw because they're not just in back. They're absorbing pressure and then also finding time to get out and attack as well. So it's been a nice open game so far. And it's opening fifteen minutes.

Speaker 23

Yeah, when the sound is played in mid march across in Saint Louis, it was all left Melbourne playing that three back system sometimes drops to a five, but it feels like they've almost shifted to a four of adjusted because of the sounders back four two shirt and Klaus up front.

Speaker 2

Solid midfield.

Speaker 23

But you know they it's start at the fourth, then they drop in they make a five to defend you. You just see how that kind of changes the game goes along.

Speaker 22

Yeah, Yeah, they're very comfortable that you can see right now they've got about five players back there on the back line, but they have no issue going to a back FOURD pushing numbers forward, more numbers than a thought they might.

Speaker 6

And if you're the sounders, you have to try and get there before they get set.

Speaker 2

There's de la Vega.

Speaker 23

Lit'll clip into the backset clear by he but outstretched left foot picked up now by heartle deep on their left hand side, far side the left as horn tricer wriggle free picked up well by the Sounders, muffed clearance by Saint Louis, but it works out for them.

Speaker 2

Well. Find two Shit, the man that came in last year seven goals, five assists on his career.

Speaker 23

So far, no player in a Saint Louis shirt has got more goals more assistance July of twenty four So two shot has made his mark as Klaus Barrel's in the back of New right in front of Brian Schmitze, sitting comfortably in his chair, just to the right of Michelle Ludka. Down there on the sideline, Sounders pick it up a little sloppy by the sounders, picked up well by Ruznack. He goes down holding his head now as a crunching tackles by a Keel.

Speaker 2

Watts rolled on, just shaking his head. It was a sloppy bore, a.

Speaker 23

Bit of miscommunication that more than anything, Hopefully it's more of a knock than a twist for Rosnap.

Speaker 2

That's not gonna feel so good.

Speaker 22

No, I did, and Albert really did well to run back there and be first to that boy because he was paid very short And I think you're right then, I think it was just a knot what's you know replaying now Albert Rusnake gets there first and.

Speaker 6

Yeah, it just takes it up. Bit of a knock. He's up now walking it off slight limp, but.

Speaker 14

He'll be up here well.

Speaker 23

Sounders FC Soccer is presented by prominent Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. As watch throws it back to Stephan Fry sixteen trophies in his cabinet, and there's Tom Deucher mentioned it's still a head scratcher how he hasn't won Goalkeeper of the Year after so many years of consistent high level performance.

Speaker 6

That's surprising. Yeah, very I didn't. I'd never thought of that.

Speaker 4

Very surprising.

Speaker 23

Yeah, there's you know He's always team first, of course, and I think Tom Deucher was talking about some of the awards he's been given.

Speaker 2

I remember Conki think he got Play.

Speaker 23

Of the Tournament and he's at MVP awards in MLS finals. Sometimes that's representative of the team effort. Of course benefits from a strong back line, but he's had to, of course step up so many times to make big time saves, and even at Nashville with that three nil win, it was Fry who made a good handful of says both in the first half and second half to preserve that win. As the ball goes over top, it comes to de la Vega has been lively in this first eighteen minutes

or so. Remains nil nil Sounders Saint Louis. Beautiful night for football here in the Pacific Northwest. It's like cloudy at a today, wrapped in blue sky and sunshine all week as the Seattle area.

Speaker 2

As the ball gets launched long off the chest of Yamar comfortably brought down. Not to kim Ky, he seems like Kinky.

Speaker 23

He's really slotted alongside Yeamar extremely well.

Speaker 2

It's exactly the job Brian Schmittzer.

Speaker 23

Would have been visioned wouldn't have asked for any type of injury of quarter Jackson.

Speaker 2

Reagan, but a little better player to bring in and have to bet himself in. Just had to get fit coming in in the.

Speaker 23

Early parts of the season, just waited for his opportunity came and here comes Rothrock. Now good season so far by Paul two goals to assist on his campaign. Picks the ball up on this left hand side, go square to Rosneck, drops it off to Christian roll Dar. Eleven men behind the ball deep holding top of the box are Saint Louis on much room to maneuvers.

Speaker 2

The ball gets clipped to the top from Christian to his brother Alex.

Speaker 23

It's Ben Lundger steps out of his six yard bucks flocks it out the air, sees the danger, deals with it well, remains the ill and.

Speaker 22

That's the right idea I think for that A lot of that attack everyone was coming towards the board.

Speaker 6

It takes one person.

Speaker 22

In the earlier attack it was Pressure de la Vega on that attack, Alex Rolldon making a running behind. Both times it has been Christian roll Done trying to find them. The pass just hasn't quite been there yet. But the idea is good. It forces the send Lewis compact back line running back towards their own goalkeeper.

Speaker 6

As if you're the Sounders.

Speaker 22

I just want to ask a forward attacking players to make a few more runs in behind, giving midfield as options because it takes one time, one good board, one well timed run.

Speaker 6

You went behind with a good chance at board.

Speaker 23

So to see if I was talking to Danny Massofski yesterday, we talked about his position and he has the build to the player this back to goal. Jordan Morrison courses a or a dynamic player in behind, but can play of course with his back to goal as well. But it feels like with Danny Massovski in the line up, the attacking three behind them really prospered.

Speaker 2

To be able to connect with Danny with his back to goal.

Speaker 6

Absolutely and I was enjoying as a wing got playing with a striker.

Speaker 22

I you, if I give him the board, they're gonna hold him. Then it allows you to pumpid that you make runs. If you're playing the board to a strike car and it's fifty to fifty every time you don't want to run and it get quite a position.

Speaker 6

So I think.

Speaker 22

Musoski does give you that security who's back to gold. But what it also does mean is the dog runs in behind has to come from others, so rough rock at times. Then if they got to a lesser extent, because Roll don can do it to Alex rodn but you have to get a balance of Musoski holding a ball up, he lays it off. You get a third man running in behind that will see you.

Speaker 23

Now good ball out of pressure by the Sounders to de la Vega knocks down the line. There's the willing runner of Mussovski. Ran Schmittza talked about that yesterday he and Nina had the opportunity to chat. Mussoski doesn't just give you the bills to finish clinically in the eighteen yard box. It's a willing runner in behind, and it's a good example of it right there. Just opens up

the field, allows the Sounders to step up. Now they have possession, attacking third of the field, the third of Alex Rolldar pinching them from his right back spot to Vargas, who's all over the fielders.

Speaker 2

As ever, it comes to the elevating right hand side, twenty five yards from the end.

Speaker 23

Like Clipper said in Nobody There cleared by hat Hebert slice off his right foot, picked up by now good little ball, little ball as a shot by Missovsky inside the eighteen It was a click around the corner.

Speaker 2

From Rus's neck.

Speaker 23

No look pass shows his quality of missous, does not hesitate, whips with his left foot, goes over go O Kate remains nil nil, but again it shows that intricacy around the eighteen yard old.

Speaker 6

It's really good. It's actually a very good entry board.

Speaker 22

But I knew who here, kind of disguises it looks like he's gonna play it white to rough rock.

Speaker 6

He doesn't into Russnack.

Speaker 22

Great little one touch layoff there and Missovski confidently takes it with the left foot, just gets too much under it goes over the crossbar.

Speaker 6

But that's a strike on inform.

Speaker 22

Very confident and when you're that confident around the eighteen yard box, you'd hope take the target.

Speaker 6

Couldn't quite be on that occasion.

Speaker 23

Bull strike shows found the ball over the top. Good defending by Yama, picked up by Horn, tries to clip it into Klaus, picked up by Saint Louis middle of the park. He's signed with Yarra back on the half way line right in the center circle to erstrek.

Speaker 2

And a Saint Louis build. We're going to throw it down to Michelle.

Speaker 24

Danny Mussovski on his longest scoring streak and his MLS career, having scored in the last three matches, and he credits his consistency and his focus during training to make sure that he's ready to go when his name gets called, because he understands he's got big shoes to fill with Jordan Morris out, but he's always ready to go and that is what gives him that confidence that Steve was just talking about there.

Speaker 25

That is what he credits his focus in training so he knows he's ready to go when he gets called.

Speaker 2

Thanks Michelle. Yep, it's a happy boy right now. Just got engaged.

Speaker 23

Three goals in three games, two game winning goals. Certainly he's done all that the coaching staff could have asked for him. Steve, and yeah, you know, he had a disappointing campaign last year. Probably think at the minutes he wanted, didn't get the goals you wanted, But there when the sounds of needed.

Speaker 2

Me stepped up.

Speaker 22

I think you'd be the first to admit, you know, but as a striker, it's funny. When you score one, the goals becomes bigger and the ball seems to find the back of the net a lot easier. And listen Jordan Morris. We know what he's meant to his club. He's a leading scorer of all the time. He's a big miss anytime he goes out. So you need people to step in and find the back of the net. With Ferrara slow start in front of goal, it's had

to be someone. It's been Masofski. He's been very, very good in the Apostle weeks and he's made it hard for She meant to take him out. Even when Jordan was fit, she Mussovski still was getting a start because he's earned it and has a striker you earned it by scoring goals.

Speaker 23

Petro de la Vega late on that challenge, you think it's on Vallum and he's maybe on Horn on that left hand side. See if he pulls out the yellow card. Not so far, he's look down on our screen, say a closer look of.

Speaker 2

Saint Lewis. Player's played it inside little bit of nothing right there is on Horn who's.

Speaker 23

Stepped in for the suspended Morales who got a bred card against LAFC. Yannis Horn still arguing with the referee, remonstrating maybe the fact that.

Speaker 2

It was late deserved a yellow card.

Speaker 23

A little handshake high fire between the two players came back underway as Bomgardle rolls it out square to this near sight to Yarrow, who's gonna stride forward? You've got beat yet last week and the final minute of the game down the wing by Boowonga for that equalizing goal.

All off Melbourne talked about it and they build up to this game, but it's so defensively strong and when they needed it most, they fell apart in that final minute against LAFC when they took the lead in the eighty ninth minute and then conceded the equalizer in the ninety fifth, so disappointment.

Speaker 2

They had to shrug that off this week.

Speaker 23

Maybe it's a point of motivation for the team tonight and they've come out flying so far. Ball goes in long throw headed clear by Knew who Sounders defending their eighteen yard box. Ball pops up, headed down and then collected by Rothrock. Crowd like that, try to the half way down on this near side, chase down by four white Shirts couldn't wriggle free.

Speaker 2

As Astrek picks up the loose ball.

Speaker 23

Sanders looking to joy and transition and see, sometimes when you defend so deep, you have to find the opportunity to transition quickly because you have to becomes harder and harder to break down.

Speaker 22

Yeah, because st Lewis would have prepared ward week for the Sounders to have a lot of the board in the final third two. It'd have worked on their team shape, different ideas Sounds might throw at them. But it's very hard to prepare against transition because that's a bit more chaos, a bit one predictable. If you're a Sound, if you have the players who do it, Roth Frocks and willing Crime now all bet Christian can do it as well.

Speaker 2

Ball goes in behind the two shirt left hand side the eighteen yard box towards the end.

Speaker 23

Ninety goes, oh, that could be a foul, and it is inside the eighteen. It was a clumsy fowl by Yama. He's gonna ask for a var But I think from at Vanda's points, Steve, you talk about it right now, but a look like a clumsy fowl.

Speaker 22

I think they're gonna look at this because I think he's playing for that, and it's smart. I do the same thing if I get from the defender, I'm gonna cut in front of you and wait for you to hit me. I just wonder how much contact he actually was because he wanted to go down and all he has to do is wait for the contact. I don't know if the contact came in the way we think it did. So it gets in front here, yeah, I don't know. That's tough to see from there. Here's a closer look on the replay.

Speaker 2

It is a grab as well when you let go and then so look raps.

Speaker 22

Him to day he's still up you de feet hangle a little bit. I mean, Yema makes a play for the ball. He doesn't get the ball, that's clear, but how much of the man does he get? And of course the criteria is not did the ref make a mistake, but was it clear and obvious? And I don't know if you'll meet that criteria. I think it's a soft penalty.

Speaker 2

On the flip side, Steve.

Speaker 23

If it wasn't a penalty and the var took a look, it's probably enough not enough evidence to give it.

Speaker 18

No.

Speaker 6

I don't think so.

Speaker 22

I think whatever the referee is called on the pitch, you probably stick with that. If he doesn't give it, you don't overturn that. But he has given it, and listen, Yemar gives him just enough to make us interesting. If I'm a striker, we're talked very young, get in front of the defender.

Speaker 6

So he does the right thing. Jemo makes a player.

Speaker 13

On the ball.

Speaker 6

He misses the board, but I think he also misses the man.

Speaker 22

For the most part, there's marginal contact, but sometimes that's all you need.

Speaker 6

And that's off. Now it's done.

Speaker 2

Yeah, referees pushing the sound as players away. Yama still arguing to the referee. But it's gonna be an opportunity here, I think for Heartle, the skipper and the opportunity. Last a couple of weeks.

Speaker 23

Some goals it was too short and an own goal last week in class pitch started to find this form is Heartle.

Speaker 2

Now he's gonna have to face Steph and Fry in his four hundredth game for the club.

Speaker 23

Can he stand up and do what he's done so well over the years, make a big time save in a big time moment.

Speaker 2

And the German Heartle beat the Swiss Fry. It's a yellow card. Sure if that's for dissent or infringing upon the eighteen yard, what's him harsh? Wherefore reaches backing off? Now, Whistle goes hearty four steps back from the ball with his right foot. Fry crouched down in front of a band of waving flags and heart will keep his focus Ceph and Fry crouched down ready to make his move.

Speaker 23

We'll start a step by Heartle and he goes down low and come he rolls it into the.

Speaker 2

Back of the net.

Speaker 23

He loud Fry to Falter Fry's right called it the other way. Saint Louis take the lead here in the twenty ninth minute or new.

Speaker 6

Going, the sound is still not happy.

Speaker 22

Yeahm are still arguing the refs asking him why didn't you go and look for yourself? But that just means VR he didn't think you needed to, and he start the decision.

Speaker 6

He took the penalty itself.

Speaker 22

It's a very well taken penalties, kind of that jose F Martinez run up.

Speaker 6

Where you see they take a little skip step before.

Speaker 22

Putting the water back of the net, throws it really slowly into the middle of the goal.

Speaker 6

Stephen Fryer committed to go into the ride.

Speaker 22

And this is the worst case scenario for the Sounders because you don't want to go behind to a team that doesn't score many but also doesn't give up many. Only eight goals conceded on the season, eight goals scored, a conceded, and they're very comfortable absorbing pressure and sitting back.

Speaker 6

It's a team, as you mentioned, that went to LAFC and.

Speaker 22

Worked inches away from picking up a win against a very good team.

Speaker 6

So how can the Sounders respond?

Speaker 23

And here they come in the attacking third of the field, already with the foot of new who runs at square to Christian picked up well by the goals grow hard through the legs, it goes to Jamar. In transition come Saint Louis with Tusha looking for their second goal, and as many minutes the ball goes under the foot of Klaus, rolls over the far side for a throwing deep on the Sounder's right hand side, thrown in quickly by Yamar.

But you're right, Steve, Saint Louis are gonna sit in and the Sounders need to keep it tight in this next few minutes don't want to give up another one. It's gonna have been a difficult task for Brian Schmitz's men in these next sixty minutes.

Speaker 22

Or so, and there's no prizes for guessing how Senuis would look to attack. We saw a glimpse of it there as Christian Ordan gave the ball away midfield.

Speaker 6

They were out to the races.

Speaker 22

They will play in transition every chance they get, so you must take care of the board and not give them any incentive to try and double the lad with yellow car.

Speaker 2

Just before the penalty was given to Alex trolled on.

Speaker 23

Assuming it was some kind of dissent, arguing the call still as the Sounders continued.

Speaker 2

To do that after the goal was scored, you just keep your head down and work on it comes Fullum goes to the deck inside the eighteen cleaned up well by kim Kee, and then good ball broke the.

Speaker 23

Lines by Fargas, crossed halfway line, goes Rosnack to the left. Is Rathrock just inside the eighteen yard box on his left foot, just delays for.

Speaker 2

A moment, comes back on his right, looks for angle of space.

Speaker 27

Goes down penalty for the Sounders and that's how you respond. Rothrock came off that left hand side, just like Tusia did for Saint Louis, waited for the contact went down, referee didn't delay penalty kick Sounders.

Speaker 22

And listen and rough Frock has this great knack for absorbing contact and taking a foul.

Speaker 6

And there's no debate what flowing it. That was a penalty. There's no need for VR here. You'll still check it.

Speaker 22

But Rothrock, actually he got a little bit lucky because the chance he should have the attachment to have ended with a chance on gold as Albert Russnick put him in going inside of eighteen yard box wasn't a good first touch, but in the end.

Speaker 6

He kept the dribble alive. He kept going, kept going.

Speaker 22

Sat Louis defenders there, you had three guys around him. No one needs to make a challenge there. So we have a city tackle, to be honest. But the Sounders won't be complaining. Now a massive opportunity to get this game back to neutral and equalize, and it will be Albert Russnick.

Speaker 23

Well, they're think the bravest man would turn this over to var on this one. Sunders are still remonstrating about the last penalty seconds.

Speaker 2

Before Rotha went down. And the referee is not gonna look at var at all clear as Claire as you like.

Speaker 23

Penalty kick and it's gonna be Rosneck back in the lineup today. Is he gonna find the back of the nettis his six foot six frame of lunt puts his arms up in the air.

Speaker 4

And down the middle.

Speaker 23

Smooth calm finish from the penalty spot by Albert.

Speaker 27

Russnak, and the Sounders quickly respond on Albert Rossnack's third.

Speaker 2

Goal of his campaign. There's one one here at Luminfield, and.

Speaker 22

It's a good pedal. Here's a good response by the Sounders. First board, but that's a good propany by Albert Russnack. So really big goalkeeper, you're trying to put that board pass? He just delayed in delaye and then goes.

Speaker 21

Right down the middle.

Speaker 6

As soon as a goalkeeper.

Speaker 22

Committed dive into his right Albert sloss the board right down the middle and uman field is buzzing again. The sound has drawn himself left.

Speaker 6

One one.

Speaker 2

Three goes through assists for Albert Russneck.

Speaker 23

Orgets not long challenged by klaus On Vargas's Fargas is teammate in the middle, and that's heat challenged by Vogus. Is that gonna be a yellow cut on the sound is number eighteen as Saint Louis man rolls around on the deck and as Saint Louis get ready for a free kick, it is a yellow cot on Vogas we're gonna throw down to Michelle.

Speaker 24

There's a bit's an interesting body language to watch down on the pitch, just in the sequence of events that have just transpired. And honestly, it's the confidence you want to see from a Paul Rothrock. I mean, he had a wonderful breakout season last year. It's great to see him embracing his starting role even further in this season.

After the Sounders conceded that goal, he was one of the only players on the pitch really hyping up the rest of the players on his squad on his side of like let's go, let's get back, but let's get refocused. And it showed as he just made that amazing playdown on the other side of the field, and then after he got called for the foul, he gave a great pump up gesture to the fans to get the fans

going even Louder. It's really wonderful to see him that confidence and that fun in his second season starting for the Sounders.

Speaker 23

Yeah, thanks Michelle and on he played this stunted every single game so far in MLS. Who's part of the rotation during Conker calf where he got to play in MLS games, and he's earned his spot even when players coming back from injury and concor calf ending, he retains his spot on that left hand side. You may not get an assist for that one. He's certainly created that

goal for Raznak. Now the Sounders have to defend. Ball comes in headed clear by this sound As top of the box, headed up by what war bounces to us Strek down this right hand side is New who comes across good calm, defended by New who goes down fourths for it.

Speaker 2

That's New who just needs to be a little bit careful.

Speaker 23

Ashtrek's just agitating the Sounders left back and knew who, of course stepped over the two hundred and fifty game mark, and so he used that experience just walk away. The referee's already thrown a few yellow cards out so far to Alex Roldan and Vargas.

Speaker 2

Just bringing the two players together, having a quick word.

Speaker 23

Anything more there so strict and who don't give each other high fives.

Speaker 2

They run away.

Speaker 23

It's gonna be a sound As free kick on their left hand side. Kinky, he goes short to Alex rolled on. Referee, it's gonna call it back just to whistle you here. Sounds a little bit premature and starts in the game. Now, Klaus is gonna cut off the angle to Stephan Fry. Kimky will step over my rolled down and kim Ky is gonna do the simple thing, knock it long, headed away by Yarra down this near side the Sounders left. Fargas gets picked up. He's gotta be careful. It's on a yellow car.

Speaker 2

Just pulls back. Wat who goes high ambitious shops what Vargas came across.

Speaker 23

It's gonna be a goal kick for the Sounders. Here in the thirty seventh minute times flying one.

Speaker 22

It's a little warning there because sometimes you're most vulnerable when you just scored.

Speaker 2

We saw that.

Speaker 22

We send Lewis Vay squad and we've been five minutes. The Sounder is one of the other end getting their gold back. Times when you scored you your your amp top the crowds going. You want to get that next one.

Speaker 6

Want to settle the.

Speaker 22

Game down the little behre for the Sounders because you don't want to keep giving send Lewis chances.

Speaker 6

In transition, I've had a few more than we fought in Mike to do.

Speaker 2

Got back here by Rosnack. He's playing confidently already. The ball gets whipped in. Oh my stone goal. Who was bomb Gardvel who.

Speaker 4

Slashed to the ball with his right foot.

Speaker 23

It came off a shinpad I think, ricocheted off the post out for a corner kick. A couple of inches to the right would have been the second goal for the Sounders. That was a good old center backs clearance right there. Just swings the right foot. It's gonna be a corner kick on this near side. Sounders left in swinger by Rosnack, goes short, collected by Rothbrot. Strike with his left foot powerfully, but over the top. His lounder sees it sail over his crossbar. It's gonna be a

goal kick. Thirty eight minutes gone here at Looming Field. Don't leave us at halftime. It's gonna be Kelen Rowe Pete viewing, Jackson felt will break all down currently sitting at one one.

Speaker 2

Good response by the Sounders and Steve.

Speaker 23

We were a little fearful that the Sounders would have to play against two walls of white shirts, but they did the perfect thing.

Speaker 2

They responded quickly, got their goal. Now the game's open again.

Speaker 22

Yeah, and send Louis listen. They've been a bit more open and maybe I would have fought before the game. But without question, had they had any time to build up one, only they'd.

Speaker 6

Have sat back.

Speaker 23

It comes Musovski had a chance to turn maybe inside the eighteen. It goes to Rothrock on the left hand side, ricochets off Rothrock think off his face of that clearance.

Speaker 2

There's new who drops it back?

Speaker 23

As my producer Jordan Thompson mentioned in My Ears, Michelle Ludka from the sidelines motioned up that.

Speaker 2

It was almost the fifth own goal in six games.

Speaker 23

It was four straight own goals in the first four games between these two clubs.

Speaker 2

That record was broken in the last one when the sound has lost one nil. But that was an MLS record coming into last game in March. But they come the Sounders, can they find another one? First time shot by rothrock over the top goal kick.

Speaker 23

The Sounders are knocking on the door, as say, get to the final five minutes here at lumen Field, see if the Sounders can find another breakthrough, get in at halftime with the lead. Just look at that replayoff the posts slot con mentioned could be a fifth old goal in six games.

Speaker 2

Not a record you want, no, not at all.

Speaker 22

And that's a lot And that was actually really close, very lucky came off the posset there. But the Sounders have done well after going behind, not only found the way back level, but now the team looking more likely and the game has sort of settled into the pattern that maybe we expected a lot of the board, but it's not possession for no reason. It's very purposeful, lots of forward passes into play. It's been really good and the Sounders look very likely to add to tally.

Speaker 2

It comes to Della Vega just hunting for the ball. No foul given.

Speaker 23

Strike by Della Vega, collected easily in the end by Blunt. It was an initial breakthrough by Vargas who skipped by a couple of White Shirts, strode forward find Dela Vega wriggled out of pressure.

Speaker 2

Snapshot from twenty five yards came back underway. Sound is picking up on the halfway line. Clip foul. It's gonna be a yellow card.

Speaker 23

It feels well unnecessary by the referee, but it was a little cynical by two shirt just inside the Sounders attacking half of the field on Vargas, it's gonna be a free kick. Chance to maybe find an opportunity to either sure wish they do. As Christian rolled On asked him for some support. Referee still making his notes in his pocketbook. That's the free kid to come back. M are looking for some options.

Speaker 2

Nothing forward goes back to the side to Christian rolled On.

Speaker 23

But this copywrighting audio casts of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast with the express written consent of Major League sock. If you can take towards the end of the forty five see what the referee has to add on as the ball goes down the line right hand side for the Sounders towards.

Speaker 2

The end line it goes that's.

Speaker 23

A cynical push by Vallum in the back of Alex rolled On. Awkward fall as well by Alex as he holds the back of his Achilles Tendeon.

Speaker 6

Car she messes up, you won't listen.

Speaker 22

I don't like seeing players to run the referee, but they've got good reason here because that's a no brainer of a yellow card. It's no attempt to play the ball. It's actually quite a reckless play because you're pushing Alex Rodan in the back. Listen, it's a fruit from vogas. Alex is there first. It's just a shove in the back, and I think it is it's a yellow card. There's no debate around it. So Sat lewis getting away with one there. Maybe he thinks I just gave one.

Speaker 23

What Listen, it was last week as well, just inside the second half shook in a second yellow and a red.

Speaker 2

He would have changed the whole makeup of the game against Colorado.

Speaker 22

I think you have to give a yellow card in but there's no attempt, there's no realistic chance of winning the poorn Frozey's body into the back of Alex Rodan. Yes, it's a fire, but that's also yellow card. Saint Louis budging upon.

Speaker 23

It will beat the job of consistency about the referee again, I'm sure joined this game and here's a chance for the sound. It's just a couple of yards off the end line, right hand side, flicked in by a Rusnak towards the nearest posts. Here's rock Cock strikes it well blocked and then clear by Klaus and here comes a sea of white shirts three against one.

Speaker 2

But good play by Rotha Rock And.

Speaker 23

There's a yellow card that is not gonna make the crowd happy at all.

Speaker 2

Preck is on his feet on his crowd.

Speaker 6

Yeah, you can hear it right away. Consistency.

Speaker 22

That probably is a yellow card, but there was one two minutes before that should have gone the other way as well. And all you want from a referee is be consistent in your pause. And this crowd's letting him later.

Speaker 23

Well, I think Michelle. We're gonna throw down to Michelle and she can see the steam come out. The ears are preppy on the sidelines and.

Speaker 25

The player is something you don't see every day.

Speaker 24

On the foul on Alex Roldan, Stephen Fry came almost all the way up to the fifty yard line to give his opinion on that that it should be a yellow card to the rufferee here on the sideline.

Speaker 23

Yeah, thanks Michelle, But here comes Roth Rock inside the eighteen yard bars.

Speaker 2

Can he make Saint Louis pay in the best way?

Speaker 23

Oh, Masovski just couldn't find his feet seven yards out, fluffed his line first time. In the last three or four games. Sound has broke through really well. Se Jemo picks it up again. It was him his tackle on Trush in the middle of the part that started all that before. But Rothrock's right in the middle of everything. The Sounds is doing well right now, as nwho picks it up on this near side of the left world square two Rosnak who whips it into the middle of a part to Christian.

Speaker 2

Roldan half turn.

Speaker 23

Hears Pegadlavega squares up Horn plays it short to Jemar gets it back.

Speaker 2

He's trying to find some combinations.

Speaker 23

Flick around the corner and then driven ball By rolled on to roth Rock left corner of the box.

Speaker 2

Little back he'll towards New inside the eighteen hegoes, flicks.

Speaker 23

Towards the back stay good bye, just st over by Massovski.

Speaker 28

Wonderfully work by the Sounders down the left hand side, and it was New set up a great little cross to the backstick and its Mussosky couldn't quite get over the ball heads it over one minute to go with the forty five remains one one.

Speaker 6

And that's great play. First of all by rough Rock there roughly little back heel to new Who and Knew Who. That's why he's improved. Doesn't get fought as much as he used to.

Speaker 22

But when you get there, if it's one or two times, can you have quality. That was a very quality cross from new Who. I think for Musaski, the bull just in the air a little bit too long. He does everything right, tries to get off of it. In the end, by the time he leaped there, the ball was still too high, gets too.

Speaker 6

Much underneath it. The chance goes begging.

Speaker 22

There's two chances in two minutes for Missoski, but the sound is knocking at that door still.

Speaker 23

It's gonna take a little bit of pace for the Sounders. It feels like the crowd is getting amped up to look down on the board. I think we've got a whisper for Michelle Ludka.

Speaker 2

Down the sidelines.

Speaker 23

Six minutes so plenty of time for the Sounders to find that second goal. They are playing with the wind in their sales right now, spurned on by the likes of Paul Rothwick who won that penalty for Albert Rosneck to put away, and there was a good quick response by the Sounders after Saint Louis took the lead, also from a penalty spot, so two penalties in this first half.

Speaker 2

A lumin field get lots to talk about on and off the.

Speaker 23

Ball for the halftime crew of Jackson Pete Kellen, the ball goes over the end line for the Sounder, it's going to be a goal kick.

Speaker 2

Sept and Fry just bind his time.

Speaker 23

But mate is aa n HPI Heritage Month support an HPI owned small businesses during the month of May. For a chance to win Sounders FC prizes. Visit potentialis dot com to find a business near you. As Klaus flicks it around the corner, step in by Rosnack, well has a little kick away by Rosnak. Think you might get away with that one less a referee pulls it back. Here come the sound is balling behind good ball by Mussovski across the six cleared by of all people, Klaus who came back.

Speaker 2

That's the referee is not gonna He's gonna whisper in his ear felt like a little kick. Maybe from us that a.

Speaker 23

Little frustration as Saint Louis was nipping it as heels, but I don't think it's a bus strike coming across. Have a word of the referee, but the Sounders get it going here short corner, go square, top of the box to Vargas, back to Alex.

Speaker 2

Rou Dan comes back to this left hand side and to Rock.

Speaker 23

Rock drives forward, trying to commit defenders. Hartle comes strikes it.

Speaker 2

The opening was there from twenty five yards, but couldn't get it on target, goes high and wide. Here in the forty seventh minute, remains Sounders one Saint Louis one seems that.

Speaker 22

Cornice and there from rough Rock. I mean, you want to hit the target. He's more than capable. We've seen it in the past in recent weeks. Actually rough Rock gets outside the eighteen yard box just snatches that in there.

Speaker 6

You want a bit more finesse.

Speaker 22

But as sound is, I think at one one you'll be a bit disappointed because on the scale of the whole half, it's actually been a very good attacking performance, free flowing in the attack. I think Rothrock's been fantastic albut bruces Kny's had his fingerprints over a.

Speaker 8

Lot of this.

Speaker 22

Rodn and old bed in the midfield have really dominated as well. Musosi has had these chances. There's not too much to correct there, Fiel, Brian Schmitzer. Maybe just clean up a couple of things in transition defensively, and the disappointment is that you haven't been able to find the gold that will give you the lead, because it really has been at times really good stuff in the final third.

Speaker 23

Yeah, it's been short, it's been sharp, especially in attacking third of the field, attacking three and getting heavily involved in this game.

Speaker 2

Sounds looking frantically before they walk into the locker room. Quick turn out of pressure is Mussovski tries to wriggle free from a horn. No foul, give it the Klaus comes back and then it's gonna be de la Vega trying to nip on the heels of Klaus.

Speaker 23

La Vegas needs to walk away. He's in it front of the ball. Free kick wasn't in the right spot? Is that might be a reprieved for Delaveaga not getting a yellow card. Wherever you're headed, Discount Tire wants to get you there safely. Shot for tires, your treadwell, your personal tire guide at discount tire dot com. And I feel like the referee might need some good working tires to get out of this stadium.

Speaker 2

Bevy of fans chasing him down. It's good play by Yama rolls out of pressure. Well. Three yellow cards for the Sounders so far.

Speaker 23

Vargas rolled down Rothrock and surprise me, only one for Saint Louis on two shit.

Speaker 2

Player that earned the penalty on Yema Or goes into de la Vega. Can you find an opening?

Speaker 23

Griggles free place the two Alex rolled on overlap and run now by Dela Vega. Alex roldd sees him off strikes with his left foot blocked by the back line of Saint Louis clear and then flicked on by Klaus and that's gonna be a foot race.

Speaker 2

A Christian rolled on will win and he does and he rolls it back.

Speaker 23

Crowd like that get here in the final two minutes of the six Sounders one Saint Louis one and this score is presented by prominent Swedish.

Speaker 2

Sounders.

Speaker 23

Have it with Jemr's off game for Amar last week cause of the penalty.

Speaker 2

Here this week.

Speaker 23

But he's really responded to well since that penalty has been solid as are rock back there while a number of balls, the ball goes.

Speaker 2

In cleared by Bob Gartle who almost scored for the Sounders on his own end.

Speaker 22

And I think Yama and the whole team really have responded really well. It's kind of the last time we saw Saint Louis put any kind of sustained pressure on the sound It's been one way traffic, lots of interchanging plague,

different players in the attack getting involved. The disappointment is that if not being able to really test the goal keeper a bit more and probably find that second ball should be ahead on the balance of playing for the way this half is gone, especially as the half has gone on.

Speaker 6

But I chance to say it from a set piece to end.

Speaker 2

Well, yet corner kick for the Sounders on their right hand side, northeast corner of.

Speaker 23

This great stadium packed with Sounders fans today on a perfect night for a game of football, and there's gonna be a Rosneck goalscorer for the Sounders with a corner kick two arms up in the air.

Speaker 2

Sounders players on the penalties while making their.

Speaker 23

Runs flicked in by roaldd it comes, Vargas just clips it around the corner back to Rosnik, chance to whip it and he does. Enter by kim keyhe just over clips the top of the net. It's gonna be a goal kick because you get here in the final seconds, I think the goal kick will come. The referee, we'll call the end to this pulsating first half.

Speaker 2

Another chance for the Sounders.

Speaker 23

Just see a replay as a good league by kim Ky Heath from seven yards or so, just couldn't.

Speaker 2

Quite angle it on goal and the goalkick does not happen.

Speaker 23

The referee just blows his whistle, brings this first half to an end. So Saint Louis came out the gates well, put Sounds under all sorts of pressure. They earned a penalty in the twenty ninth minute, converted by Hartle, and then less than five minutes later, in a thirty third minute, it was Rusnek who converted the penalty won by roth Rock.

Speaker 2

Seems like one of your final thoughts.

Speaker 6

I think for the Sounders you're pretty happy when that obviously give him a penalty.

Speaker 22

Goals not good, but I've played mostly well, creating a lot of chances lots of different guys involved, and I think you are lucky to be one one.

Speaker 6

It should be up.

Speaker 22

But when a halftime regroup and the come out and really try to win that first fifteen to twenty minutes to put this game.

Speaker 23

Outside, take a short break, Jackson felt kellen Roe pee fewing.

Speaker 2

We'll be back to break it all down for halftime.

Speaker 23

Here an EQUC pitch sh a luminfield is the sound as one Saint Louis one.

Speaker 3

Forty five minutes of the books here from women Field, Your Sounders and Saint Louis are even at one to one here so far, both goals coming via penalty Hearttel in the twenty ninth minutes, Rusnak in the thirty third minutes. I want to tell everybody michel of ultra ninety five calories and two point six grams of carbs. It's only worth it if you enjoined Jackson Fells calenro Befewing here

for the halftime show. Let's spend this first segment by talking about both penalties, cause I think they are a little bit related to each other. I've gotten a couple different looks so far at the Yamar penalty. He fouls in the box and then Hardell steps up a few minutes later and hits it in the twenty ninth. But it's interesting, Kellen Pete. On the first look, looks like Gamar might have made contact. He certainly kind of grabs the shoulder goes down obviously, and then thus the penalty

is called. And I could see how you could call it a pen I don't know if it's clear, But Kellen, what did you see The Sounders had that in the box, they'd be calling for it as well.

Speaker 4

So I understand how you said.

Speaker 5

I understand how the referee called it a penalty. Do I agree with it? I think it's a little soft, and I think coach might agree with that. And then we talk about the second penalty, right, the Paul Rothrock penalty.

Speaker 4

As it relates to the first.

Speaker 5

As it relates to the first, I think it's a bit of a makeup, like, hey, that one was easy, we'll give you an easy one as well.

Speaker 4

And I'm not saying a gift was given to us, but it was.

Speaker 5

If you're gonna be consistent in most referees, that's all we want, right, Consistency is what you want. So if there's an easy pen here, there's got to be an easy pen there.

Speaker 7

Well. And I was surprised with Saint Louis's response to the penalty Kit called again him because they didn't really complain too much at all. So our penalty kick, I thought Goldman is ANDROTI did. Let him get in behind, let him get around him. He could have just taken a quick step to the right to cut it off. But once he got by.

Speaker 2

Him, and then it's the arm grab.

Speaker 4

It's this, it's that shoulder grab.

Speaker 3

It's just you know, I don't know if he makes it looked on first look like yam, Armanda stepped on his foot, but I think.

Speaker 4

That sparts cleaned.

Speaker 5

But the grabbing, the grabbing, it goes this for someone who's been slower than most of the guys he's played against, the arm grabbing is a natural. It's a natural thing, like hey, hey slow down here. By slow down here, I'm not gonna get there.

Speaker 7

The problem is he was like five yards from the goal, right.

Speaker 5

Yeah, yeah, yeah, that part if it was I never got that close. Yeah, that's like if that, if that happens right at midfield, that's a foul. And that my My point has always been, if it's a foul, there.

Speaker 6

It's a foul there.

Speaker 4

You know, I almost disagree, I disagree that if I do like to disagree, I I do like to disagree.

Speaker 5

But the soft contact would not be a fell I don't think anywhere on the field. It almost might be a hand whistle to the mouth. And then he's thinking about it. Well in the penalty spot. He called it quick and we didn't have a chance to look at it because it can't overturn something like that.

Speaker 3

Yeah, and if if they hadn't called it, then they probably would have kept it no call. But hey, listen, great job by the referee, Lorenzo Hernandez. The consistency soft soft, both of them pens.

Speaker 4

We're at one to one. What's gonna break here?

Speaker 3

On the halftime show, let's talk about the second half ahead, what changes Brian Schmitzer can make to give the soundersis And I've just had a Crossbark Challenge hit about that one thousand dollars donating the Raid Foundation on the cross Bark Challenge.

Kellen, I'm gonna take the easy answer here and take it away from coach. And I'll take another easy answer from m and say, Georgie Manongo, Right, he's the guy that's gonna be that lightning energy off the bench.

Speaker 4

But Ryan Kent's gotta be this first up. He's gotta be the.

Speaker 7

I would agree with both those subs for sure that this would be my first two. The fact that Danny Messovski just had two really good chances on goal just maybe bought him a little bit more time. He's got three goals in the last three games. He gets a couple of good chances. But I'd love to see Dave Rizzario come in maybe for the last fifteen minutes story.

I'm Danny Jackson, Alongstive, Steve Zachowani here in the booth, the Michelle Ludka down on the field. She had a chance to talk to Brian Schmittz and we'll get to Michelle in just a couple of minutes to talk about what Brian's thoughts were in the first half, on what his plans are potentially for the second half. But it was the quick fire goals either side of the thirty

minute mark. Twenty ninth minute penalty by Hertel put Saint Louis in the lead, and then inside five minutes it was Albert Rosnack from the spot on the thirty third minute, converted.

Speaker 2

The penalties calmly down the middle. Beat Lunt tied up the.

Speaker 23

Game quickly and as Steve zack Quani and I were talking about, would have been a heavy lift for the Sounders to play against a breakdown a steely Saint Louis rearguard.

Speaker 2

Under all f Melbourg.

Speaker 23

They already considered eight goals on the season now scored eight, so they're not prolific in front of gold, but they certainly as per their early season, formed four clean sheets at their first four games. They can certainly defend well as well, so Sounders Saint Louis. No changes coming out at the half, so referee gets us going.

Speaker 2

Sounders in their Saley sheet kit.

Speaker 23

Attacking the goal to our right, as Rosneck gets us going. Sounders looking for a full three points today Saint Louis in their all white kit attacking the goal to our left. Who was a really fiery, firstly competed first half.

Speaker 2

This ball goes over the endline. Let's get you the lineup for the Sounders.

Speaker 23

No changes stepan frying goal about four of Roldan Ye, Mark kink He and Knew who obed alongside Christian in the middle of the park, Peedro Dolaveg a goalscorer Albert Rosnik and then Paul Rothrock who earned that penalty playing on the left hand side, and then three goals out of three. Game man Danny Massowski plays up front for Saint Louis.

Speaker 2

No changes for Saint Louis coming out in the second half.

Speaker 23

London goal about three of Yarrow, Bongardele and Hebert a midfield five and it shifted to or four at times, but we'll throw it as a five. Watts, hartle Horn, Hustrecht and Fallum and then two sh sits right behind big Brazilian center forward Shao Klaus up front. So Sounders throw it down the line and this near sight towards Mussovski tries to flick it up.

Speaker 2

It's gonna be a Sounders throw.

Speaker 23

We'll just play this attack out before we throw it down to Michelle Luki with Brian Schmitz's thoughts, and it's gonna be Alex rolled on.

Speaker 2

It's going to roll down ten yards from the end line. This near side, right in front of the assistant referee.

Speaker 23

Goes short to Petro de la Vega drop back hold on in the lineup today in place of Kailani's. The ball gets picked up by Saint Louis. Klaus tries to go around the corner and the sound has built from the back with Kim Kihee.

Speaker 2

We'll throw it down to Michelle.

Speaker 25

Thank you, Danny.

Speaker 24

I spoke Brian schmetz Aro on his way back out from the tunnel and he says the message to the club during the break was that they want more of the same, but a couple small changes to make for

so many younger players on the pitch. For the Sounders, he says he really focused on telling them they need to slow the game down, and he says veteran players really understand this that when you have a ball and you see an opportunity come that you can see that there's multiple ways that you can take it, and some younger players don't always see that.

Speaker 25

He really pressed that and said that he needs these players when they.

Speaker 24

Run out to look for the final opportunity of which one is the better one to choose that. Then he said on defense, he wants more possession for the Sounders and since they have Klaus, just their main guy up front and playing with just one man attacking. He says he wants them to suffocate him so that he cannot do anything and essentially eliminate him as a threat.

Speaker 23

Thanks Michelle, Yep, why it's worse for Brian Schwitzer fifteen shots for the sound is in that first half. But I think to your point, Michelle is making the right choices in and around that eighteen yard box. Lots of shots from distance, didn't hit the target, only three shots, so those fifteen we're on target tested lunt.

Speaker 2

The sound is heavy as bull rolls out.

Speaker 23

So Steve, you've been in the halftime many a time with Brian Schweitzer and at the time Ziggie Schmidt. But with Brian's thoughts, relea to what Michelle said, what do you expect the second half?

Speaker 22

Yeah, I think Michell hit the nail in the head. I thought going into it a branch man, So there's not much to change. They played really well in the first half, especially in the final third.

Speaker 6

It was very fluid. I thought rough Rock and Russnik were very, very involved. So I think she would have said more of the.

Speaker 22

Same as Michelle said, But there are some tweaks you can make, and I think a bit of that would be a bit more in behind running just to turn Sat Lewis over a little bit more and when you get the bull wide. The quality of cross into the box, I've seen a couple of times knew who's cross that was handed over Withsoski and the one that was almost on goal.

Speaker 6

Those were two times that it almost quite a right. And I think just being wary that.

Speaker 22

You're probably as the game goes on, gonna have more and more of the board.

Speaker 6

You're gonna get a ci trying to break them down.

Speaker 22

Just be wary when you give it up in transition to get back quickly and don't give Klaus a chance to get on a transition.

Speaker 23

Ball into Vargas left corner of the box, gets pressure from behind by what goes back to new who just dances around the ball, rolls his foot over the ball back to Vargas, who strides forward, plays it in square to Rusneck top of the box, trying to find Masovski, who was zipped into him.

Speaker 2

Couldn't handle it, and it's gonna be Yarra that comes away with it.

Speaker 23

And of course Brian Schmetzer added personal motivation. Brian sits one hundred and twenty nine wins, and if he gets a win tonight, then he would creep into that top ten of MLS coaches in wins at one hundred and thirty. Would expect Brian Schweitzer's gone a number of wins still to go, so point going climb up that lead board over the coming months.

Speaker 6

Did you think he knows that?

Speaker 2

You know, probably would imagine.

Speaker 23

Somebody's probably whispers here, but you know, Brian, he's not gonna talk about gonna talk about that at all. You know, his record, things like you know, winning percentages in playoffs, his top of the charts, fantastic when you think about, you know, the evolution of the team. Ladera out gone, Rudy has gone. There were two players that have been anchors for him, and of course being fortunate with seven

five forged appearances tonight. Robert Vargas has come into his own with one hundred appearances two fifty for who Christian roll darn bypass Sax Scott from most outfield or cop appearances for the Sounders. So he's got a foundation of players, but he's had to evolve the squad over the years.

Speaker 6

That's what I think.

Speaker 22

He's like this like his third sort of evolution of sound of things he had. I mean, he oversaw the departure of Click Dempsey, for example, Chad Marshall. Those things were under his watch. You know Bran Evans, you know our colleague, those things were under his watch. So I think he's been able to sort of lose really big players and not skipper me.

Speaker 23

It comes Alex Roltonald episode along the six yard Bucks. The Sarski made a quick darting runners he's talked about doing. That's the message for Brian Schmitz and the staff, just make that front post run. It's worked so well, couldn't quite get their roles out far side for a throwing. So let's get you the Sounders bench and the options for Brian Schmatzerkers expect.

Speaker 2

That Brian will make some changes. He's got some five power on the bench. Shall Powell. I think he's not the five power, but certainly the steady hand in the middle of the park.

Speaker 23

Koloney, cusa Enzi, Jonathan Bell, Rebaker, Whiting, Georgie Munongo, Andrew Thomas, Danny laver Os de Rosario from the Defiance on a short term low.

Speaker 2

He's on the bench tonight because of Jordan Morris missing and then Ryan.

Speaker 23

Kent, who we do expect to get minutes tonight see if he can show his magic feet.

Speaker 2

We see a little bit in practice short spells and games.

Speaker 23

But maybe a longer run will really illuminate the skill set that he has. As Sounders closed down the wall quickly with Alex, Roldan goes off Alex over this near side for a throw in eighteen.

Speaker 2

Yards or so from this corner flag on our south end. Here as we look at it, Saint Louis tacking the goal to our left, Sounders attacking our traditional south end.

Speaker 7

Goal.

Speaker 2

Flags waving as ever and will City supporters standing strong. It's gonna be a free kick for the Sounders.

Speaker 23

Where feree was certainly generous the yellow cards he threw around, but we felt like the consistency.

Speaker 2

Was there because he was keeping a pretty tight ship.

Speaker 23

There was a couple of cars didn't go the Sounders way in terms of yellow cards and fouls. It seemed obvious and it's been fisty. It slowly down because we felt like it could. Those are the games that can get out of control pretty quickly.

Speaker 22

So it can and I think the rest for the most part, did well, caught a good game, made some good decisions.

Speaker 6

I think he just missed a couple way before.

Speaker 22

Oh that's definitely yellow card, and he wasn't consistent, But for the most part, I think he managed the game. Towards the end of that first half, both teams tempers will beginning to flair a little bit, and it was ticktac fouls all over the pitch and he never let it get quite off.

Speaker 6

And I think it's been a good game of football as well. I think as this game goes on, though, it's gonna be very important for the Sounders.

Speaker 22

I've been in a situation before where you're the better team and you're chasing that second Bowl.

Speaker 6

To not leave us off expos and be patient.

Speaker 23

He comes rising at striding forward, top of the box to Delevaga, cuts in his left foot, good little heavy on the touch.

Speaker 2

Vargas top of the box, finds an inch of space and then just drags it wide. Good play by the Sounders. They broke quickly.

Speaker 23

Most important imagined for Brian it was the amount of players getting in support.

Speaker 22

And I think you made a point in the first half is yes, they're gonna be good in the build up, but also in transition.

Speaker 6

What can you do then?

Speaker 22

I think that's a good example album Russknak carried a board forward really well. The Leavega's unlucky. The ball came to him quite quickly. Couldn't quite get you shot off and listen. We spoke to old with Fargas this week, had a nice chat with him and I said, you know, that's what your dad was, your coach growing up.

Speaker 6

That's still culture now.

Speaker 22

He goes, look, we'll be driving to the games and he's number one thing to me is take more shots outside the box. And so we're just saw over there wasn't a very good shot. But I want to see him in attacking aris because last season I think it was Philadelphia away and he's scored a fantastic going outside the box. He has that quality. Obviously he's already fantastic, but as he adds to his game, I think being more of a threat outside the box. Who saw Joe

Parlll do that for years? I think albed has that in his game.

Speaker 2

It comes forward, rips it in towards the backstick to watch challenge I knew who bounces through far side rough Rock picks it up towards the end nine he goes, still dangerous to the ball across sixt yard bucks. That's a confident player right there.

Speaker 23

As the ball goes down the line, Pagel la Vega just skips by Pedro.

Speaker 22

I think one of the first lessons I learned playing football as a kid, which you've never passed the bord across the ball is one of the first I've never I never did it once in my life.

Speaker 13

Rough Rock.

Speaker 6

He pulled it off. It's just so risky.

Speaker 22

But if you give that away, if anything goes wrong, the opponent's run on top of you with a chance at ball.

Speaker 2

Yeah that was the old English way. Yeah, maybe maybe in Spain and Germany.

Speaker 22

Yeah they do that.

Speaker 6

Yeah on those mighty pictures. Who aren't doing that now?

Speaker 1

Yeah?

Speaker 2

Go vertical.

Speaker 23

Saint Louis bill As goals grow hard and picks it up right front of the sounder's bench across the halfway line is Fallum, turns away from pressure from roll down, strides across the middle of the park, rolls it out to the far side the right to Heber, playing him advanced on the right side.

Speaker 2

As we mentioned, they start with three, they shift to four In offense, Horn comes back to his left back spot. Saint Louis have it. Sounders is defending top of their box.

Speaker 23

Cartle captain goalscorer, turns out of pressure. See what Brian Schmitzer does when he makes his moves. Fifty fifth minute here one to one between Sounders and Saint Louis. Sports Radio ninety three point three kjr FM, Thanks for joining us wherever that might be. The ball gets driven along by Bob Gartle, almost the goal scorer of an own goal as he reads the danger well saw the cushion pass coming off, and then Rothrock just gets his body

between ball and the Saint Louis player on that far side. Hebert, when's the free kick? We'll just see if it's gonna be a foul. Referees walking over, sister referees communicating to roth Rock what it exactly is, and here is the change solid thirty five minutes a play and it's gonna be rough Rock.

Speaker 2

Can I'd imagine roth Rope be a little bit disappointed.

Speaker 6

But I'm surprised.

Speaker 24

Yeah.

Speaker 22

I thought of the two wingers, Groff Frock was the more dangerous and involved of the two.

Speaker 6

But I think maybe Kent's more comfortable on the left hand side.

Speaker 22

I thought that le Vega might be coming off, but you also do have Georgie who tends to play on the right, and maybe Dela Vega's gonna have a ten to fifteen minutes before if it's at one one.

Speaker 6

Georgie's a great player to bring off the bench in this kind of game.

Speaker 22

But Ken, this is a lot of time he's gonna get here in front of the Hope fans would be a great time for him to get involved in off with his account.

Speaker 23

Yep, Sounders just need to keep it tight, make sure they're not chasing the game with Now, with Ryan Kent on a top of the box with two shirt strikes, it comfortably saved by Stephan Fry and as Stephan strikees towards the top of his box, we're gonna throw it down to Michelle.

Speaker 24

His assistant coach Freddie Warrez telling me that that substitution was made strictly because they were worried about Paul rock Rock with a yellow card and they're hoping that Brian and Ken can really use his speed to push the sideline and hoping for a lot of more one on one opportunities there, Thanks.

Speaker 2

Michelle, perfect inside that makes sense.

Speaker 23

Sounders were sitting on a number of yellow cars of our guest being another player on a yellow card, as has Alex rolled on, given away by.

Speaker 2

Ros Neck because he cheases down trying to put some pressure on.

Speaker 23

But attacking three players, Steve, I meant, you know, yes, we have other players we could bring on, but I mean Farrera of course, night from the squad today due to that injury. But de la Vega, Rosneck kent. I mean in terms of just potential stature, not many better. Attacking three midfield players. You can get an MLS No.

Speaker 22

If you give us off thirty minutes plus here to score a goal. That combination of players, you'd be confident can find one or two goals which they need.

Speaker 23

Here's two shirt twenty five yards from gold dead Senser rolls it out to what inside the box, clips it in towards the fast stick Zephyro and Fry calls it off, picks it up easily, and it's like us streched.

Speaker 2

He's already asking for a a change.

Speaker 23

He goes down, just like Jordan Morris did last week. Sometimes there's a muscular injuries.

Speaker 2

Ask him for a change. We'll see what's happening as a couple of.

Speaker 23

Saint Louis players warming up a more vigorously down that left hand side from us behind the north end goal.

Speaker 2

Well Steve. In terms of how Ryan Kent fits.

Speaker 23

Into the mix of the players we've seen the highlights of his time at Rangers, hasn't played a lot made his.

Speaker 2

Move to Fanabachi didn't quite work out for him, as been trying to find his next move. It took some time, but in practice he looks sharp. Yeah, he's obviously got the pedigree, has about bringing it on to the.

Speaker 22

Field and I think good background, good pedigree, those things aren't in question. It does take time to get up to match speed, no matter how fit you aren't training, how much money you do. The match is just different. Playing at games beats a bit different, so that will take time. Brands have told me, you know, he's very polished, so his game's a lot cleaner than say a Georgie for example, when he gets into the final thud that final balls don't have a bit more quality. So he

comes from a good background there. But I think when you join a new team, especially as an attacking player, it's gonna be tough, and it's tough to make an impactl For him, it's about getting his touches, his feet under him, and then look being confident. You know you were bought here to make a difference, not just to fit in. So when you get a board one D

one situations, be direct, take your man on. And he's shown, especially in training that he can paig that good final board which he wanted to team meet.

Speaker 2

Yeah, Ustrike making his way slowly off the field as he walks off.

Speaker 23

Let me give you a couple of scores around the league from the Western Conference DC United two Colorado one. Colorado traveling to the East Coast lose that game to DC United to have been propping up the Eastern Conference for much of the season. It was Austin Mill Minnesota three, so really good solid win by Minnesota on the road in a difficult place to play.

Speaker 2

San Diego five Dallas nil. That's a final.

Speaker 23

So San Diego started a little bit since that three zero win against the Sounders, but come back firing, I think five today. Vancouver come off their result in midweek getting to CONCACAFFT Champions League Final where they'll play Cruisers Al.

Speaker 2

They win to one at home to Salt Lakes.

Speaker 23

So Vancouver's form continues to be solid as they balance out concor CAFF play and MLS play, sitting on top of the Western Conference coming into this weekend's games.

Speaker 2

There come the Sounders. Can they find the ball to Kent?

Speaker 23

It comes Kent, first touch of his introduction here, back to Rusneck to Vargas left corner of the box, just turns away for pressure to Ken, back to Vargas inside the eighteenth chance deflection goal by Vargas.

Speaker 2

Deserving goal by the young man that just hit.

Speaker 23

A hundred appearances for the Sounders are just nineteen years of age, shows his maturity, shows his development and puts the Sounders up here at lumin.

Speaker 28

Field sounds on Saint Louis Sounder's two.

Speaker 2

Saint Louis won, and.

Speaker 22

It's an instant impact by Ken, who was involved in that Moore from start to finish.

Speaker 6

But it's just all about old Bed Fergus.

Speaker 22

I mean, once he gets inside of box, the composure you had there, plays the quick one two with Ken and we were just saying we want to seem shoot more, shoot more.

Speaker 6

This wasn't outside of box.

Speaker 22

Once he got in there yes, he gets lucky with a deflection, but sometimes you have to create your own luck, which he does.

Speaker 6

I've seen a lot of good young players at this club, some very good ones, but at his age, for what he's done, he might be the best that I've seen.

Speaker 2

And how he's advancing his game just almost like week in week out, it just felt so he's confident. Especially here come the Sounders again.

Speaker 23

We're Della Vegas striding towards the eighteen yard box, strikes it, tries to find the upper ninety ambitious shot from the angle, but why not puts a little hand up. Apologies to Rusnak and Kent, but Sounders out taken the lead and this is a vital thing for Gates. A team like Saint Louis or on the road, they could have bunked in on that one nill lead as they took into the virtue.

Speaker 2

Minute mark, but the Sounders have responded very very well.

Speaker 23

Referee just cause a foul on Dela Vague and walks over to Pedro asking we'll speaking to him to be a little bit careful, maybe telling up some of the fowls that he's made. Most of them have been attack minded fowls. Poorly judge, poorly timed. It comes Saint Louis, good step by Yamar, Alex Roldan rolls it into goalscorer Vargas, Sounders now playing with the level of confidence crowd.

Speaker 2

You can just feel the energy in the crowd.

Speaker 22

Steff, I think you go for the kill fin the Sounders. You try to find that third bold oh good.

Speaker 6

Play by Oh.

Speaker 23

Here comes Kemp wriggles free down the left hand side of go just rolls it into russneck because in support Sounders, four men in a on the eighteen yard box rolling out to de la Vega, curls it gust over overlapping run by Alex, rolled down, he looked past.

Speaker 2

Alex trying to find the top corner. See that's confidence right there.

Speaker 6

I love it.

Speaker 22

I don't mind that at all. I played with Freddy Monterra for many years and he will do that as well. If he's outside the box as a sight of gold, he's taking the shot and Pedro's very unlucky there he misses. I mean, that's half a yard over the crossbar. But the Sounders they're knocking, they're purring.

Speaker 6

I think you have to go for the kill here, you've got to send Lewis on the ropes. Now you have to go for the knockout. Honestly, can you get that next.

Speaker 22

Gold to really put this game out of reach While you're ahead, you can't dominate for the remaining thirty minutes or so, but you can definitely have your stretches where you're so in control.

Speaker 6

And it's about having the quality and the patients to find that killer boat.

Speaker 23

Christian Waldn tries to split the back forward the ball from this near side the right, trying to find Masofskis running between the center backs. Couldn't quite find him well back in with Saint Louis down this left side, right from the sounder's bench, the ground goes Da la Vega's good step by Yamar.

Speaker 2

Nothing there.

Speaker 23

Della Vega tries to play it in early, picked up by Watch and then cleared by Hebert up in the ninth sky slice clearance, challenged by Christian rolled on on, fallon back to Horne, who knocks it down the line off the chest of Yamar, then flicked up by Alex rolled on cushion headed towards Vargas sitting on a yellow card of course, but gold scorer of the second goal, one goal, one assists on his season.

Speaker 4

He got the.

Speaker 2

Assists to Pedro Dela vegainst Nashville.

Speaker 23

The question was asked, how do you see della Vega, And go back to your point about his dad. He said, my dad told me get to the end line, cut it back, get to the end line, cut it back.

Speaker 6

He's fantastic.

Speaker 22

You know, I know we've had some great young players at this club. Absolutely, but at nineteen, I think you said one hundred games. At this point, no one's done it the way he's done it. And it's scary to fit of where he could beat five, ten, fifteen years. Honestly, he's primed for a fantastic career.

Speaker 23

That's Kenes to flick around the corner, and now who follows that? See you say I could do it one better? Flex it around the corner, keep a learns the yellow card right at the end line.

Speaker 2

And when you know that new who's doing some Ryan Kent mantic. You know the tefflay.

Speaker 22

Because if nothing else come to a Sounders game, you'll get your money's worth just by what you do who You're gonna get entertainment value like nothing else. He's doing a rainbow flick or some kind of flick as a left back in a final fund. I love it well he earns a free kick. I think if you're the sound Is Branch mess. So they're thinking of this next five to ten minutes because Sho's they're gonna make some changes, saying some fresh legs, get that next goal, to get that separation.

Speaker 6

I think you put this game to bed.

Speaker 22

As I'm gonna two to one, They're gonna believe, they're gonna keep trying, So next goal is very important this game.

Speaker 23

Six Sounders men just outside the six yard box. Ball is in the left challenge a couple of yards from.

Speaker 7

The end line.

Speaker 2

It's gonna be a Rosnak. He's gonna whip it in towards the near stick.

Speaker 23

Ball bounces around, headed clear by Yarrow, then hooked clear by the Saint Louis back line, picked up by Alex, rolled on.

Speaker 2

To Ryan Kent a little sapo.

Speaker 23

I mean he turns quickly on a dime ball into Ken, leaves it for Rosnik back to Kent top of the box.

Speaker 2

The crowds already liking what they see with Ken as far gas as he courage to shoot, flicks it in boar bounces in.

Speaker 23

Couldn't need a little run by Massovski, a little flat footed lunt Saint Louis goal kip and picks it up and it's just gonna calm things down.

Speaker 6

Yeah, Ken's be charmed. He's come on. He's changed the game.

Speaker 22

It's what you want from your attacking players. When you come on as a winger. Sometimes it's tough, especially a game like this, a fast paced game. It's tough to catch the speed of the game. But he's come on and he's been very, very good on the left hand side. Get on the board, confident, toss off the little faints, gets the assist.

Speaker 27

On the board.

Speaker 6

He looks very dangerous. Oh here he is.

Speaker 23

Here he goes Ken top of the box, riggles free with left foot, tried to find Dela Vegas stepped in by Bombgartle Saint Louis six and sevens. Right now, I don't know where to turn. We got Pedro one side, Rosneck making things tick in the middle, and they got Ryan Kent turning on a sixpence and any particular point in time.

Speaker 2

And they got Vargas who could strike forward.

Speaker 23

So it's coming at all angles for the Sounders, and this is what the team we're expected to do this season. Firepower all areas of the field. Now they're starting to find their feet. Is Alex rolled on this right hand side, this near sight sixty eighth minute sounders leading two goals to one. They against Saint Louis here at EQC Pitch, lumen field ninety three point three KGr FM.

Speaker 2

It's gonna be whipped in by now slice Clarence stripe by Alex rolled on just over. Oh, that was a rasping shot by Alex rolled on. It fell kindly to him just outside the eighteen yard box. It's gonna be a goal kick.

Speaker 23

Sounders lead wont but Steve zach Quanny the sounds that entertaining the crowd.

Speaker 22

It's entertaining and it's dominant. They're very dominant right now. Who are so high on this team in preseason saying that if it comes together, could be a very good team.

Speaker 6

They're doing this right now, did this interchanging and nice quick.

Speaker 22

Plays, lots of shots on Gold and Lea's at Gold, maybe not always seeing the target, but it's it's not one person, it's four, five, six guys in the attack. As you said, it's coming at all Langles and size, and it is without Jordan Morris, paul A Riola, Hey sus Ferro. So it's just very very deep Squadias. He's the as Georgiana bench who looks like he'd been coming on momentarily to here. But this is as good as

I've seen this team. Sustained pressure in the attack a third and the variety of the attack, how they're doing it, it's been very very good. Ken's been good, ross Nick's been fantastic, Musoski's been good again. They're they're just this movement, the la Vegas coming to his only in the second half, and I think Rodan and Albert Vargaz have absolutely ran the show in midfield.

Speaker 6

There's lots to like, but it's only two one, and we've seen it before.

Speaker 22

When it's only a one gold gap, you can still get bitten a quite an end. So I still think you need that the next goal to really kill this game off, and that's why branch matters. Steel making attacking.

Speaker 23

Changes, Yeah, Georgia manon go getting some instructions from Andy Rose, so some changes for Saint Louis as well, and Ni also comes on for Yarra on the back line. Betcher, former Vancouver white Caps man, comes on, here come the Sounders. Rosneck has it inside the eighteen yard Boss, look at Robinson's strike.

Speaker 2

BET's la Vega pokes it can't quite get past. Learn assistant referees flag on this near so I goes up.

Speaker 23

The referee is is gonna let that one go? It's in the hands of the goalkeeper for Saint Louis. Ben Lunn rolls it out to bomguard.

Speaker 2

But Saint Louis are gonna have to truly hold on here.

Speaker 23

But maybe a couple of changes we mentioned Joe Klauss is also off the field.

Speaker 2

Levin. We weren't sure if he was going to be present today. There he is right now. He's a strong, powerful player. I mean there's number ten, there's number tens and he is he is a big boy. Yeah, it's a big boy. Reminds me of like a Ronaldo back in the day, maybe towards.

Speaker 4

The end of his career.

Speaker 6

Big boy, but lots of quality.

Speaker 22

Hasn't when he's at his best and he's flowing, especially a couple of season of goo. Him and Klaus had a very good understanding. You'll kind of play make from deeper areas. I think Saint Louis Melbourne's arms are really just a to give thresh lette and try to change with squshing.

Speaker 23

I think he's got a var corps getting in my earpiece for I think I produce a quila Dunning.

Speaker 6

It was a hamble, yeah, because Greggy was onto it for a long time.

Speaker 8

Dare.

Speaker 22

This is going back about two minutes at this point. It's when Albert Rossnak crossed the ball into the box. I thought it was a permanent I did the same thing at a time because I thought maybe the rest be told.

Speaker 6

It's not.

Speaker 2

Yeah, there it is replay.

Speaker 25

We gonna throw it down to Michelle proving it is a handball call. From that, as soon as the play happened inside the box.

Speaker 24

The Sounders coaching staff was yelling for the assistant referee on the sideline Here was saying that Var was checking it out and just gave Brian Schmenzer the nod that yes, it had been called for a handball, which is why they're bringing it back now.

Speaker 6

Well, just in a replay. To me, that is one hundred percent a handballed.

Speaker 23

It's fascinating how VR does work well. Sometimes the game kept going, but so far further down the line. They're still able to pull it back.

Speaker 2

And it's right.

Speaker 6

It's a handball because it's away from his body. It's a safe. Yeah, it's it's it's not it's away from the body. The arm's really high.

Speaker 2

Yeah it was Vargas. Oh yeah, and it was a They call it an unnatural position.

Speaker 6

Yeah, yeah. I think that's a handle, and.

Speaker 2

I think it was the subsuit Yakim Nielsen.

Speaker 6

Now, the only thing that might save him is a distance. There's not much he can do.

Speaker 22

I know that sometimes comes into it, but when your arm's that away from your body.

Speaker 6

You're making yourself bigger. And that's a goal.

Speaker 22

If his hand isn't there, well, at least a very good safe would be required from the goalkeeper.

Speaker 6

I think you have to give it.

Speaker 23

Yeah, you have to think it's a clear cut. There was Vargas who came across. It was a square cross. Fargus came in again. It could been a second goal for Vargas and the sums didn't.

Speaker 6

Really appeal it.

Speaker 22

But on the bench, Precky was up on his he was adamant he saw it. They kept talking to the fourth official. Eventually v a r and now here we are, so referee taking a long hard look at this.

Speaker 23

I do sometimes wonder why it takes so long to look at it. I mean, we all see the same thing. It's either a hamball or not, depending on how he interprets the rule.

Speaker 22

Yeah, I think the distance is the one thing there. Who say, hey, what can I do? You know it comes so fast, but we.

Speaker 2

No knew who puts his arms behind his back?

Speaker 23

A lot and a lot of players do that, and then they've changed the rule. I know there was a lot of the subjective kind of sense of it.

Speaker 2

It's like if the hand, If the ball hits the hand, it's a handball inside the eighteen.

Speaker 22

I'm just looking at this, and I think he's army so far out when it's here, there's a couple of yards between him and old bed.

Speaker 6

Yes, it does go quite quickly towards him, but it's a safe he answered, aside.

Speaker 2

Here we go. Referee is gonna explain to the ground what actually is going on? No handball? Shocker.

Speaker 23

So again two minutes later, VR says, go take a look at it, and the referee turns it down.

Speaker 6

We can't say he didn't look.

Speaker 22

He took a long, hard look, the fans can't believe it. I don't know how that's not a pedant. I don't know that's a pedal.

Speaker 6

Then that's in my day in the box, that's a pedant.

Speaker 2

I mean that the armiser to the side, it's ap pedal.

Speaker 6

Like if that's not handball, I don't know what if? Oh well, wow, well I think it's a distance. I think that's the only thing.

Speaker 2

Yeah, it could be. Well, we'll see what the wow.

Speaker 23

Literally post Meats report states there come the sound is gonna find a second.

Speaker 2

They certainly have had.

Speaker 23

The dominant play in these final minutes. Is It's gonna be interesting to see if the referee has to make a call at some point in the game to favor Saint Louis.

Speaker 2

That will not go down. Well, but here comes Alex hold On, rolls at square, a good step over. They'll flick around the corner. Knox. It all could have been a strike from the heart. It was a tough angle.

Speaker 23

Yeah, it's as says the referees given the goal kick Pedro La Vegas confused.

Speaker 2

I think there's a ricochet maybe off Pedro.

Speaker 23

It's gonna be a gold kick. Branch Meta Preki and he Rose all on their feet.

Speaker 6

It's been a good game, a lot of energy in this game.

Speaker 23

And it's gonna be Silver comes on another change for Saint Louis, and it's gonna be Georgie Menungo. So first of all, it's gonna be Silver. Who's gonna come on?

Speaker 2

See I think it's gonna be Hebert that's gonna come off the field.

Speaker 23

Silvera just got signed by Atlanta from Atlanta United just a couple of weeks ago. And who's gonna come on the field. It's gonna shift Saint Louis back a love it. Then you open the markets, so you gotta right back off. You're gonna push what's back to that right hand side. Silva's gonna go up top alongside Besha.

Speaker 2

Sat Louis.

Speaker 23

They're making their moves now. They're looking for some results. They know they have to stem the tide. Here first, Georgia Minano also on the field. Lightful light switch for Pedro de la Vega. It comes Georgia. You gotta flick around the corner, can you get there's Mussovski. They're still in the field, So Ran Schmantz is letting Mssoski run this one out. You get here at seventy sixth minute, just under fifteen minutes to go of the ninety Sounders leading two goals to one against Saint Louis.

Speaker 2

Sport's already a ninety three point three KGr FM. Here comes Ken been lightly since he came on.

Speaker 23

Step over, click around the corner to rosack Ite's bundled over referee right there, gives nothing.

Speaker 2

Christian rolled middle of park, splits the back fourth towards the endline, goes Georgia, can you find a ball? He goes in boll bounced around Fergus Karkwight get there, picked up by Saint Louis.

Speaker 23

Here comes Silver of his first touch as a Saint Louis player, strides forward down his left hand side, just inside his defensive half of the field. Comes back to Captain Harker, gold scorer, first goal for Saint Louis at lubinfield in their history.

Speaker 2

So they broke the duck tonight. It's clean sheets the last two games.

Speaker 23

Good step by Fargas, brilliant tackle middle of the field and he gets up and he strides.

Speaker 2

To the ball across half way in line. Usowski making a run to his right.

Speaker 23

Ball goes to his right, this time to Rusnak inside the box, down the line towards Vargas cuts it. Great play by Vargas earns the corner kick. Crowd like that sounds to one Steve zach Arnim.

Speaker 22

Is a really really good game of football, very open. The sound of certainly playing their part in your attacking sense there al, but looks a little bit tired on that one day. Was a really one hundred percent in the airs. He tries to find atle bet of a little slip past the side the box. The soun's got a settle foot of corner, but I get the sense the team feels they do need enough of gold.

Speaker 2

Could it come from this corner kick?

Speaker 23

It's Ruznek on this right hand side outswinger's right foot clips.

Speaker 2

And towards the near stick.

Speaker 23

It was Christian who leapt up headed over the top goal kick seventy eighth minute to one. Sounders sound as f C Socket is presented by Provident, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC. Provident staff have been busy over these last weeks with blights of Jordan Morris out injured. Today just reminder picked up hamstring injury last week recurrence of his injury that just came back from. They'd gone through multiple weeks of practice. Hit all the markers, so

nothing there. It's gonna be a yellow card. I think we'll see yellow card for all half.

Speaker 2

Melburg.

Speaker 6

I think he's not particularly he was not happy with that the day.

Speaker 22

Think of him of the chest, having the hand, Paula's coordinate on off Marlburg and his assistance to which the Sounds have done to the quarter staff have played every kick off this game as much as the players have been off the bench. Alte's been a very engaged in fourth game. The referee is not the most popular man inside lumin Field foot ball teams.

Speaker 2

Well goes it.

Speaker 23

Danni Msoski strikes a good save by Lunch towards his front post.

Speaker 2

Really good hand by the goalkeeper. It's gonna be a corner cack Sounders.

Speaker 23

Musoski found himself in the box, eyes wide over, but trying to find that fourth goal in four games.

Speaker 2

Was denied. But it's another chance for the corner cake for the Sounders.

Speaker 23

That's gonna be rights neck Georgie Minno just a couple of yards away, goes short to Georgie rolls it out to Vargas right from the training ground back to Rasnak, whips it along the six, headed down by Besher top of the box.

Speaker 2

Left footage strike by Vargas didn't work out so great, but over the end, like goal kick get here.

Speaker 23

The inch Towards the final ten minutes here at Lumen Field, it's been a fantastic game to watch, certainly for the neutral and for the Sounders fans. Been highly entertaining and what a good response by Brian Schmitz's men have to going down one nill the twenty ninth minute, covered quickly I found their feet full flow. In the second half, Leurban knocks it down the line, clipped around the corner

by Chris who's his brother Alex. Sounders trying to find an opening as Saint Louis of course, have to come out of there block a little bit to try and find this equalizing goal.

Speaker 2

Tied two to last week down in La.

Speaker 23

It's a couple of West Coast trips for all Left Melbourg's men. There was Vancouver before that, but that was a home game nil nil against Vancouver got another win tonight to back up their three to one win against Miami.

Speaker 2

In that semi final of conker keV Champions Cup.

Speaker 23

It comes right neck, making everything tick down in the middle of the park, Georgie just waiting for him. Whereas that goes top of the box to Mussovski tries to wriggle three he does so vargastand.

Speaker 2

A lot across to knwho rips along the sixth ball bounds around.

Speaker 23

Massovski turn scores his fourth goal in four.

Speaker 2

Games, and what a hot streak. Daddy.

Speaker 23

Mussovski is on the critical third goal for the Sounders tonight, smiles all around.

Speaker 2

Sounders lead three to one and I.

Speaker 22

Love this every single out for playoff, heading over there to celebrate together as a team. That's a huge goal and it's the man in form, Danny Mussoski. It's a very good finish in the end, well played by new who puts an importance side of the box. Missos gets a good first touch, takes it on a half turn. Gokiper may get a touch on this, but had enough power behind him then there was nothing he could do. And that's the boat of Sounders needed and he's had

his chances tonight. But a good striker has a very short term memory. And Missovski doing that on that occasion and that's the goal the Sounds we're looking for that cushion.

Speaker 2

Well, Sanders look like they're gonna make a couple of changes Jonathan Bell and the Rosario.

Speaker 23

Could he get his first team debut here for the Sounders And it's perfect timing.

Speaker 2

Missoski got his goal and he's he going to be the person to make way.

Speaker 23

I'll see Brian maybe shifts Steve two a three to solidify defensively what's coming. But it feels like the Sounders are so dominant right now, ms feeling just asking for the game to come to him instead.

Speaker 22

Of just yeah, yeah, I'm not a fan of getting too defensive too soon, because then you're inviting pressure. You're inviting the team to you're taking pressure off the pass on the board and so they're able to take their time, lift their head and clip boards into your box and send numbers forward. The Sounders are so in control here you don't need to change too much. Yes, maybe get a couple more defensive minded players.

Speaker 6

Onto the pitch.

Speaker 2

More comes in long throw by Saint Louis.

Speaker 7

There's what.

Speaker 2

Good defending by Kent coming back to do his defensive duties.

Speaker 23

He's already entertained the crowd a couple of times as Massovski just steps in.

Speaker 2

Good play by Danny Massowski.

Speaker 23

Is he gonna get the standing ovation he's so richly deserves? Jordan Morris is a loss for any team, especially for the Sounders all time leading goalscorer. But Dannie Massosk is on a rich veine of form and he's gonna go off on the far side. That about says it all right there. He just wants to get off the field for his teammates.

Speaker 2

Doesn't need the applause he does, He'll get it.

Speaker 23

Ozaz De Rozario, son of Dwayne, comes on for his MLS W and it's gonna be a shift. As Jonathan Bell comes on. Is that Gamar may be gone off maybe for the yellow card?

Speaker 6

Oh wasn't a yellow yes.

Speaker 2

So like for like switch.

Speaker 23

Jonathan Bell comes on, He's gonna play left center back Kim King, He's gonna shift to that right, so we're not gonna change in the middle of the back.

Speaker 2

For there must be something there with Yamar. You gotta think at this point of the game, the way that he's been playing in this since that goal, really has played solid as a rock. So Sounds an't changing formations, they are changing personnel.

Speaker 23

So you're on for Masovski fourth goal in four games for Danny, and then it's Jonathan Bell comes on for Yama and it's John the bellis first touch rolls it back to four hundred appearance man and step and Fry And could it be Brian Schmidtz's one hundred and thirtieth win if the Sounders can hold here, and I would put him into the top ten all time of MLS coaches with wins. It's pretty incredible names in there, of course,

through Arena Ziggy Schmidt. When there come a Sounders, can they find a fourth with Russneck steps over, plays the ball to his right hand side to Georgie, takes a step, strikes it, just slash that. It should have looked that far post. Slice it wide on that near post goal kick here in the eighty fifth minute, five minutes to go here at EQC Pitch, Luminfield Sounders lead three goals to one against St.

Speaker 6

Louis.

Speaker 22

Yeah, that's still what's missing from Georgie's game there. You get into that position there, it should just be automatic. You shoot across goal because you know someone maybe gets it at the back Poult.

Speaker 6

And it's a tap in. He's got bodies in the box. I should have made more of that.

Speaker 2

We'll played by Ryan Kent, just gets bundle over. What wins the ball?

Speaker 23

Referee points to it. What goes down line to besher? It comes Jonathan Bell to little wrestling move. Oh what Jonathan Bell want it? Nasha's not gonna like that. Good defending by Jonathan Bell, not like Besh had half a step, got his body between ball and player. Sanders players congratulating Jonathan Good defending well. Let's copyright in audio casts of Major League Soccer may not be retransmitted, reproduced, or rebroadcast without the express written consent of Major League Soccer.

Speaker 2

Sounders will jump, we expect in the standings. Looking at our live standings now, Sounders sitting in ninth, coming into so it's given thirteen points, so.

Speaker 23

Should jump into the top, into the top seven. We'll see how other results go. Sounders now will be ten.

Speaker 2

Points in the last twelve available, three wins, one tie in the last four games. I'll give them confidence going on the road.

Speaker 23

As we've mentioned Houston next week, the nil nil tie against Houston last time here at lumin Field. What a good way to celebrate seven fries four hundredth appearance for the club. The potentiill win if the Sounders can hold on here needing three goals to one, just a few minutes left of the ninety six minutes added on.

Speaker 2

The first half. We'll see what the referee adds on a couple of VR checks.

Speaker 23

And Steve, you've got a thick branch Mats who will be satisfied with the performance of his team and again likes a Vargas getting on the score sheet.

Speaker 22

I think they've been in good form and look at some of the wins they've had, even a joy in Colorado, and it's been fairing degrees of a good performance. You don't always have to play well to win well, but I think as a season goals. As a season goals, you want to get to a place where you're playing well and you're winning. Can you marry the two?

Speaker 6

Can you do both? And tonight it felt complete. Teams are always going to get chances.

Speaker 22

Obviously sent Lewis went ahead with a penalty day scored, but from start to finish, attacking wise, it's been so fluid, so free flowing and the most impressive part for me, it's not been one person, five six guys in the attack. I don't know where to look from out of the match because there's been so many guys in the attack, and even defensive players know who's getting up there. A few times rough Rock has been on the pitch, but he was very good in the first off.

Speaker 6

Don't forget that. So I think Schmetzer can be very pleased with what his attacking group has done today.

Speaker 23

And defending will it comes, Vargas again decides to clip it towards the Rosario.

Speaker 2

The chance to shop, and again it's just his power stoining forward. I think, is it. Christian this week said when.

Speaker 23

Vargas burst on the scene, it had the same size quads as a sixteen year olders just roll Pa did at the time, and he was asking, you know, how do your mentor a player like that alongside He said, you know, I got And this is Christians saying he's got lucky playing alongside the likes.

Speaker 2

Of Svenson and Ozzie.

Speaker 23

Of course, so it's been hopefully in part some of that wisdom as sat lewis trying to find a way back into this game and there's Georgie.

Speaker 2

Crowdlight that's flicking around the corner.

Speaker 23

Well, as you mentioned, your Sounders are back on the road to face Houston Dynamo FC on Saturday May tenth at five thirty pm Pacific. Watch the match for the MLA season passed on the Apple TV app and listened on ninety three point three KGRFM and l RAY thirteen sixty am. The prominent Swedish pre match show starts at five pm. Sounders have joined their football tonight. It's been a wide open game. Sounders have dominated this second half,

no doubt about that. It comes George down the right hand, drops it back to Alex rolled On, can ask it for it far aside? Look around the corner. Here comes Christian strike. Oh there was an open goal for the Rosario nine goals for Defiance. He had an open goal, put it on a plate by Christian rolled On and he s guided over the top.

Speaker 2

What an opportunity to.

Speaker 22

The young man that that would have been goal of the night simply because of the football.

Speaker 6

I we have a great fantage point up here.

Speaker 22

I saw the play unfolding and Christian Rodin's varen that was fantastic puts it on a plate for the rosario and listen, it's obvious that should have been the back of the net. You've got a score that he knows that. You'll be thinking about that when you go to sleep tonight. But if you play this game long enough, it will happen. I've missed easier ones than that, and you have to have such a short memory forgetting onto the next one.

Speaker 2

But it was a big chance memory of a goldfish.

Speaker 23

Yes, well, let's just hope that miss is not gonna cost the Sounders in any way, shape or form.

Speaker 2

Now leading three goals to one.

Speaker 23

Here as he approached the ninety eight minutes, here comes Ryan Kent overlapping run by. Now gets the ball, good defending by Saint Louis in the end, goes over the end line.

Speaker 2

It's gonna be a corner kick for the Sounders.

Speaker 23

Sounders fans on their feet supporting their team has always so so well so eight minutes.

Speaker 2

About it time, and it feels a little generous from the referee, but the fans will take it. They're enjoying their football right now watching this team play. Free flow.

Speaker 23

War comes in fast side with If Ryan Kent goes short to a rose and the mat to Kent U one two.

Speaker 2

With roll done, we'll step over towards the end line, cuts it back, no who No Who scores, runs over to the corner.

Speaker 27

Flag celebrates with his team.

Speaker 6

I know what a moment.

Speaker 2

The crowd favorite, the fan favorite.

Speaker 27

Scores the Sounders fourth goal here on the night, Sounders four Saint Louis Wark.

Speaker 22

It just had to be Listen, he's been getting forward so much in the second half. He wanted that goal and listen to the crowd role. It's a different cheer when it's New who scores and he's still celebrating.

Speaker 6

It's like his fourth celebration.

Speaker 22

But it was a very very good finished eighth Brian Kent, come on, that's the second assist. Great play by the Englishman. The winger there cuts it back and Knew left foot it into the top corner and the Sounders.

Speaker 6

If it wasn't confirmed before the three points, I'm going to the Sounders.

Speaker 23

Precy was reminding New to get back and defend as he celebrates it and with that, we're gonna throw it down to Michelle Hancast.

Speaker 25

Brian Schmitzer walks over to me.

Speaker 24

As soon as that goal hit the back of the net and he goes direct quote that will.

Speaker 25

Break the internet.

Speaker 2

Thanks to Michelle. Oh, yes, indeed, no, you know he was coming.

Speaker 23

He was getting more involved. He was as the weeks go by, it gets more involved. Now this four two three one gives him license to go even further upfield. And you got to say, you know, Saint Louis one of you can see as you mentioned many times, only eight goals come into this game, and they've had it fifty percent onto that talent tonight.

Speaker 22

Yeah and listen, and it hasn't flattered the sound as at all has been very well deserved. Could have had more? Did there are sor real chance Musoski's had a couple. They're almost on board, But habits, how do you still.

Speaker 6

Finish the game?

Speaker 5

Boy?

Speaker 6

Yes, the game's gone, but you still got to stick to your good habits.

Speaker 2

Yeah. Defending their goal, he comes a strike down the gut of fray. He's not gonna like that.

Speaker 23

It's Stephen Frase walking out of his six yards or just reminding his team that yes they're up four goals to one. Yes this is comfortable, but they can't go free flowing too far up front. Three verses one at one point right there, Saint Louis broken a tech.

Speaker 2

As we look down on that monitor, a little replay of the goal.

Speaker 23

Brian Schmetzer just smiling, probably a second or two before he walks over to Michelle.

Speaker 2

It comes to Rozaria. Can he find that goal? Would be great for the young man to find that goal after that miss.

Speaker 23

But then it comes Vargas sitting in a yellow carn of course, just steps away from that challenge.

Speaker 2

Wisely, as Ryan kent, it's gonna run it.

Speaker 23

Back because step Overbort goes over the end line sideline, it looked like it's certainly from advantage point.

Speaker 2

Pork keeps going.

Speaker 23

Here's Silver well one by Alex top of the box of Silver strikes it over the top goal kick here in the ninety fourth minute, Sounders leading four goals to one and Steve zach Quari Brian Schmetz will be a very happy man tonight.

Speaker 5

He will.

Speaker 10

Man.

Speaker 6

They've played very very well.

Speaker 22

As I said, this score line does not flatter the sound as they deserved. It been really good defensively as well. For the most part here, I think the variety of attacked, the ways in which they've been able to get at Saint Louis and course so many problems bots war for the future, and you're doing this, missing your best forward, missing your two big summer winter signings that came here in the off season, and I just think this is the kind of game that you knew this squad, this

team was capable of. It was just a matter of time. They've put it together well, and now you go into a very difficult May, three very tough road games coming up. But you couldn't have asked for a better appetizer than they've given here tonight.

Speaker 23

Two goals against Charlotte in the opening game, five goals against LAFC, three goals against Nashville, and have four goals tonight, all at home here against Saint Louis. Nashville came into Luminfield, lost three nil, then they won seven to two. So it shows that that was a dominant win against a strong Nashville team and Saint Louis, as we've mentioned many times, defensively so strong, being ripped apart and it could have

been so many more as well. Who's fifteen shots in the first half alone as the ball goes in top of the box to silver.

Speaker 2

In turn by roll darn it's just bundled over.

Speaker 23

That'll be a foul for the sound as deep on their right hand side. As you mentioned, twenty nine shots for the centers.

Speaker 2

I mean, I'm not sure.

Speaker 23

I'll have to look back in my statistic book to see if the Sounders have been any more dominant against a.

Speaker 2

Highly tuned defensive team. And that twenty nine shots.

Speaker 23

And all that work in the off season and in pre season about in the offensive third. That was the name of the game, right, that was the message delivered by the coaching staff to your player's got to get better in the final third.

Speaker 2

Well, they've certainly delivered so far.

Speaker 22

Yeah, it's a team that's been good defensively the past couple of seasons, just not themselves. It kind of been earlier Schmizza years, that free flowing attacking group that we saw and we'll get a couple of goals a game, sometimes three. It just was staggering for a couple of seasons as we saw the end of the Dar or the end of Luidiaz and they kind of got rejuvenated in the off season and it's slowly starting to come together,

putting together a nice little winning run. Here, I'm beating run Kent coming on a couple of assists doing really well. Masasi continues to score. Is getting it from everywhere, which you need when your main man goes down, which Jordan Morris has so very very impressive. Way why the sound is extremely dominant, how well deserved it comes.

Speaker 23

The man now down the left hand side, just stops the ball, then dropped back by ken Sounders to join their football right now. Minute thirty to go with this eight minutes of added time. Fans are leaving, but they're leaving happy. But there's many more fans staying and that's for sure. They want to celebrate with their team. They want to congratulate the Sounders on a good win, and they comes Ryan Kent.

Speaker 2

Can he find his first goal for the Sounders. Cuts towards right foot, go square the far gas off the post.

Speaker 23

Georgia Mnono strikes it good, say by Lunt, it's gonna be a corner kick for the Sounders.

Speaker 2

In this final minute, can they get that fifth goal?

Speaker 23

Sounds look like they can unlock the door from any angle, any place right now, Steve, it.

Speaker 6

Really could have been six or seven.

Speaker 22

I mean we're talking really really good chances, clear cut chances flat ball.

Speaker 2

What comes in by Rosneck top of six eighteen yard box with Ryan Kent.

Speaker 23

To roll down and we get that into the final thirty seconds here Sounders will jump. We'll see if they get into sixth well, they'll certain elite frog LAFC, they'll cern the leap frog.

Speaker 2

Dallas de Rozario goes down.

Speaker 23

Thirteen points coming into today's game for the Sounders, setting an eighth position, thirteen goals scored, only twelfth giving up and there's a referees whistle Whereznek, just shrugging his shoulders.

Speaker 2

Wanted that freak kick. He wasn't given the opportunity to find the fifth goal as the Saint.

Speaker 23

Louis players fall down, exhausted, chasing the Sounder shadows. And there was a Sounder's dominant performance here at EQT Pitch at Lumen Field. It was Heartle in the twenty ninth minute that gave Saint Louis to lead, but then it was all.

Speaker 2

The Sounders from that point forward.

Speaker 23

Albert roznek thirty third minute penalty tied things up, and then he was Obert Vargas in the sixty first Danny.

Speaker 2

Massovski with his fourth goal in four games, in the eighty.

Speaker 23

First minute, and then New rounded off so well in the ninety first minute for the Sounders fourth and three points.

Speaker 2

Bryan Schmetz's one hundred and thirtieth win gets into the top ten all time for MLS. Coach, is Steve your final thoughts.

Speaker 22

Well dissolved, brilliant all around, Sat Lewis, We're not that bad, I think as Sounds were just that good today, very clinical and efficient and for one does not fly to see what is up.

Speaker 23

All right, Michelle kus got that man Brian Schmetza down the sidelines.

Speaker 2

Put down to you, Michelle, coach.

Speaker 25

I don't think we could have asked more from this match.

Speaker 24

It seemed to have a little bit of everything, high energy, high intensity. What did you make of your team's performance tonight?

Speaker 29

Well loved that they listened at halftime and they were more effective in the attacking half of the field in the second half.

Speaker 6

So well deserved, you know victory.

Speaker 29

The guys put it in and you know, congrats to Steff four hundred d row Osase, I mean maybe could have you know, put himself in the score sheet.

Speaker 2

Happy for old Bed and of course knew who just broke the internet.

Speaker 25

Absolutely he did and we can't forget about you.

Speaker 24

You're one hundred and thirtieth regular season win tonight, tying you for tenth overall amongst MLS head coaches.

Speaker 25

First of all, congratulations.

Speaker 24

What does it mean to you to be able to do it in this type of fashion in front of these fans at home?

Speaker 29

Well, look, we've had good players over the year at this club. I was very lucky to be mentored by Ziggy and Jimmy Gabriel and Alan Hinton, all really established coaches. So you know, it's just it feels good. We'll reflect when I'm retired. Good players, good help, good assistant coaches makes my job a lot easier and a.

Speaker 24

Little bittersweet note tonight tonight for the communications team here at Sounders and our broadcast team, we're losing one of our own. Kelly Shutts is moving on to another opportunity outside of this sport. What a way for you guys to send her off tonight. She's been with the club for nine years. Any final goodbye well.

Speaker 25

Wishes for her?

Speaker 29

Yes, So Kelly started in twenty sixteen, so did I, and so we were talking the other day at training. She could have been my good luck charm so we're gonna miss her terribly, but I know she's to go on and do great things for the city of Redmond, and we wishure the best and we.

Speaker 25

Need her here then at every other match moving forward.

Speaker 2

If she's a good luck chart for sure.

Speaker 24

Coach, congratulations on the milestone, the big three points and the win tonight.

Speaker 25

Thank you, thanks for the time, Danny.

Speaker 23

Brilliant, Michelle, Thank you so much, so, Steve. Not only is Michelle ask the right questions, but the connection she's got to Brian. You know it's a good night when Brian comes over and wants to talk to Michelle and the interior post batch, your final thoughts about those comments, and then the game.

Speaker 6

He's happy as he should be.

Speaker 22

I spoke to him pregame and I normally have a chance to chapter in pre game every game, and he seemed confident. He seemed that, hey, we've been in good form, we've been training well, and he mentioned it. He mentioned so many names. Then in the post game. That's kind

of what I'm thinking from his game. There was so many different players who came up big today in different ways, and I think that's good because it can't be one or two guys anymore, and Melissa's gone past that you need five to six seven players on any given day that could be match winners.

Speaker 6

And I think I'll give a special shout to Ken I think he came.

Speaker 22

On and change the gel gets one offer levels Ry Klok when the final third got two assists.

Speaker 6

Fantastic victory.

Speaker 2

Well, thanks to everyone involved in today's broadcast.

Speaker 23

Terry Ryan here at the booth, Mitchell Bligh back of the studio, Keeley, Kevin Jordan has always that great information and assistants to prepare for each and every game, so the brilliant Michelle Ludker on the sidelines, and of course the Sounders legend Steve Zack quarnin Well after four goals, the team are back on the road again next Saturday for the first of three straight away games when they go into the humid conditions of Houston for another Western Conference matchup.

Speaker 2

But for now, we'll take a short break.

Speaker 23

Jackson, Phelps, Pete Fewing and kell and Rowe we'll be back to break everything everything down and oh what a good post show.

What a win for your Sounders tonight at Luminfield four to one over Saint Louis Rusnak with a penalty goal, oh Bed Fargas with a goal, Mazovsky with his fourth goal in as many games, and Knew Who for the second time in Ray Green scoring for the Sounders.

Speaker 4

New Who's down on the field with Michelle, Thank you.

Speaker 24

Knew Who coach says that you broke the internet with that goal, your second career goal with this Sounders walk me through, my friend.

Speaker 30

I mean, I'm very happy. I'm very proud to score my second go with the club. It's meaning a lot for me, especially album. I mean, we play four four two today, we try to switch a little bit the duches, so it was for me. I've been working hard to go a little bit more for it this season.

Speaker 4

So I'm very happy.

Speaker 30

I'm very proud. Like I said, the most important team for me is a team. We have a social, good talent team. So now just gonna look forward.

Speaker 24

Absolutely great win for the team tonight. But I've got to ask you again about your celebration. Is it planned?

Speaker 25

It was for the moment? Do you think about this like if I'm going to score another goal, this is what I'm going to do.

Speaker 30

To be honest, you know sometime you try to plan some chambers. I mean it's appening for the goal, especially was a four one. I was you let me just do the celebration. I see this time I'm going to canna get the then celebration.

Speaker 25

How fun is it to be a part of a win like this and get to score involved in as well.

Speaker 30

I mean we have a very very very tricky for difficult beginning of this season. I mean, did Chim look for the shop? Laws we sided? If if I can everybody he looks shop. But Philly, we're gonna have with this year.

Speaker 25

Great win.

Speaker 24

Congratulations on the goal, Congratulations on the three points tonight.

Speaker 25

I knew who Thank you so much for a time.

Speaker 4

Thank you so much Dexon send back to you. Thank you, Michelle.

Speaker 3

How about that for New scores the goal, great assists, second assists of the game for Ryan Kent.

Speaker 6

On that goal.

Speaker 3

In fact, Mitchell, if you haven't you know, let's not waste any more time because it's time for Emerald Queen Casino play the match. It's gotta be the second career goal for New who go one two with.

Speaker 2

Gold God we'll step over towards the end like cuts it back.

Speaker 27

No who no, who scores runs over to the corner flag celebrates for this team.

Speaker 22

Know what a moment.

Speaker 27

The crowd favorite, the fan favorite scores the Sounders.

Speaker 2

Fourth goal here on the night Sounders four Saint Louis Wall. Indeed he is.

Speaker 3

The crowd went absolutely wild, as Brian Schmenter said, broke the internet and the play the Match is presented by Emerald quin Casino, the.

Speaker 4

Vetan capital of the Northwest.

Speaker 3

As we now welcome you into the postmatch show, a very celebratory one here at lumin Field for one Sounders win over Saint Louis Jackson felts Kelen rowe be viewing. We're here for the next I don't know how long as we react to that big win. Gentlemen, let's just start off with initial reactions new who said they were playing a four to four to two Kellen, We can dive into the analysis of what they actually No, man, just let's react here to a big win tonight.

Speaker 5

Four four two three, five two five three whatever. It doesn't matter, right, it doesn't matter. They came back from that little bit of adversity and that penalty kick that the penalty there got one themselves, and then they took over the game, which I think it was pretty dominant in this sense. It wasn't the most exciting first half. It wasn't the most the exciting kind of sixty sixty minutes,

but we we'll talk about it later. The addition of Ryan Kent, the ability for obd Vargas to get forward, and of course the moose is most definitely loose, and four for four for Danny Massovski.

Speaker 18

Uh.

Speaker 5

And then we could talk about how Terrible knew Who's and I'm gonna tell him this, the Terrible News celebration was your second goal ever. Come on, man, I want to see more. I want to see dancing, I want to see more smiles. You know it's too serious.

Speaker 4

He knew.

Speaker 5

Who's not a you know, he's not a serious guy. He's pretty fun. He's pretty exciting.

Speaker 4

No, he get in all seriousness.

Speaker 5

Great for great FORER knew who would get a second goal? He obviously worked very hard. He was up and down that sideline for a lot of it. Uh, How he found himself in the middle of the goal, I am not sure still, I'd have to go back for about five minutes and check that. But when it comes to new who, you never know where he's gonna be. And of course he was in the right place at the right time.

Speaker 7

He'd put it away. It was a good finish, for sure. He's locked two hundred and four games for us, you know, has two goals. It's a goal every one hundred and two games.

Speaker 4

So uh, but they're important. So no, so now we know how long we have to wait for the next They were important.

Speaker 7

No, you ought to give him credit.

Speaker 4

He because a goal bonus in his contract.

Speaker 7

He should do Yeah, he should do that. The ball played from Ryan Kent. His service was quality tonight. He had two assists, very very dangerous. The dean of the Business school at Seattle University, Joe Phillips, gives me his opinions on games all the time, and he said, hey, I like this. I like this Kent guy. He's pretty good. So you're right, Kellen. Once we got the penalty kick to tie it, everything shifted back to Seattle. So that's a great win for the team. We've now scored nine

goals in four games. We've given up two goals. Those are the numbers that the fans like. The fans were great tonight.

Speaker 4

Great tonight.

Speaker 7

I went down into the stadium and watched for a little bit. I don't do that very often. What great energy in the crowd was very, very loud, and it was we said it before the game that they were good. They were good throughout the game.

Speaker 3

So tonight was another game of part of the First Match on US program, and we saw the announced attendance was a bit over thirty one thousand, and I think, you know, if it's just the extra two thousand we get from you know, the normal crowd with due to the First Match on US program, that extra two thousand, I tell you what, you know, you can look it away out what percentage is that overall that makes a difference. Man, Like the sound of the crowd, the energy of the crowd.

We talked about it at walk out. It felt a little bit more oomph. And I'm not sure players feet off of that, but at least for us in the stands, for us in the booth, here that little extra from the fans tonight.

Speaker 4

Man like that.

Speaker 3

I felt that tonight, callan it was great and clue they I mean for fans who got to come see their first Sounder match ever tonight for one win, they're going home hopefully saying let's go to another one.

Speaker 4

And I'll tell you what.

Speaker 5

The players in the field definitely feel it, and they definitely hear it as well. There's a little bit of a bump in the crowd, and there's a little bit of bump on the field. And when it comes to fans that are new to the game, they're new to the Sounders, it's almost like that surprise factory, right of like, wow, this is actually amazing, and they get involved in you.

Speaker 4

Mean, sucker, isn't this razame.

Speaker 2

Cool?

Speaker 4

But you feel it because there is more excitement involved.

Speaker 5

There is more like you know, look, the Sounders have gone through and won a lot of trophies, They've won a lot of games, and so when you see it for the first time and it's new to you. Oh, we feel that energy and we thrive off of that energy and we want that to continue to go through. So, you know, credit to the Sounders for giving this, you know, giving everyone they can to give their first game.

Speaker 3

So we talk about how fun it is to watch this team, and obviously the first sixty minutes, obviously there was there were some good moments, there were some not go good so good moments. And then I think in the last thirty thirty five minutes or so, obviously this team was flying and it was waves, and it was goals, and it was chances after chances after chances. Possibly I mean, it should have been five to one, if you know, we'd missed a penalty kick shout from a handball in

the second half. But like so much of attractive soccer being played there in the last thirty minutes, and Kellen, you mentioned it coming in seventh minute, Ryan Kent comes on the field and as we kind of transition and we talk about the debate of tonight's Toyota Man of

the match. It's strange, but it probably isn't so inaccurate to say that Ryan Kent is certainly one of the players in discussion for Man of the Match because of the massive impact he had to assist thirty minutes, I mean off the air work, kind of just waxing poetic.

Speaker 4

This guy is very, very talented and very fun to watch. Kellen.

Speaker 5

Well, when you think about it, coach, you're thinking, Okay, Brian Smetterer looks like a genius. Right, he puts Ryan Kent dono. He's at fifty seventh minute, right, I'm gonna go sixty a minute, make it even numbers for everyone else. But he comes out of the sixtieth minute, let's say, and he changes the game, right, the game in favor, in possession, in quality, in chances created in the touches.

Speaker 4

Inside the box.

Speaker 3

Obviously, you know, three goals he assists Obed Vargas in the fourth minute he's on the field.

Speaker 4

And then again to the man of the Man of the match. Now knew who Right, I'm just kidding, I'm kidding everyone, I'm kidding.

Speaker 29

I'm kidding.

Speaker 6

But you know he to.

Speaker 5

Assists in thirty minutes, yeah, or thirty three minutes, whatever you want to call it. Wow, Right, he obviously changed the game. His other players that played very good games, especially full nine minutes. We'll talk about Ovid Vargas as well, as he created a lot and scored a goal himself and got the handball call that should have been a penalty in my opinion.

Speaker 4

But Ryan Kent coming in coach, he changed the game.

Speaker 7

What a luxury to have to be able to sub. We have not had this luxury to be able to sub someone in. And then the game elevates right and his decision making. There were a couple Pedro's pushing a little bit right. He was on the right hand side. He took two shots from the right side of the box outside of the box. Alex Rodan was there for one that he could have laid it off. Ovid was there for one that he could have laid off. Both shots went over the crossbar. You could kind of feel

the frustration Ryan Kent gets out. He could take shots, but instead gets his head up pick people out on the cross. It's not just pinging him across, but it's another level. Georgie had a really good cross that he just drove across, but I don't know that it had the direction, whereas Ryan Kent picks players out, so so I don't know how long he stays on the bench, by the way, but that's gonna be Brian has that luxury too of saying, hey, you can go with a

hot hand. We've got a little depth now on the white guys.

Speaker 3

So new Who scores on the Ryan Kent assist. We also have Mazowski scoring on the new Who assist. We have Obed Vargas scoring on the Ryan Kent assist. So we talk about goal contributions there, and then Rusnak obviously had the penalty.

Speaker 4

There are three of us here. Let's give some votes for the Toyota Man of the Match.

Speaker 5

Look, I think the game changed, and although ovid Vargas is at number two and in very close number two, I have to give it to Ryan Kent because the quality that he brought, the game changing ability that he brought, and the fact that I mean, I don't think Saint Louis got over the half when Ryan Kent came onto the field.

Speaker 4

I'm not sure they actually got into their other half.

Speaker 5

And so Ryan Kent one dropped a shoulder and beat a player two three times right, two and three times in the half and they were a Saint Louis player looking around turning around in full three to sixty trying to find Ryan who's already two feat you know, two feet by him. That's an incredible play. He had two assists in thirty minutes. Thirty three minutes. Okay, I don't think he lost the ball at all. Had maybe had

a chance himself that was blocked. I think he had a full performance for the thirty three minutes.

Speaker 8

That he had.

Speaker 7

Yeah, there's there's a lot of candidates. Danny Missovski four goals in four games. He did have four chances that he created, which is what you want. You want your fords and you should have had a hat trick though. He could have, for sure, and I'm sure he would think that exact same thing. Knew who got a goal and an assist.

Speaker 4

He was a good assist too.

Speaker 7

Is a very good as He picked him out right, Yeah, he picked somebody else.

Speaker 5

So Yeah, but I'm taking the celebration into account and saying, you know, drops him a point, It drops him a point, just a half point.

Speaker 4

Let's say, let's say enough so Pete was your vocals to Newho.

Speaker 7

I'm gonna give it to new Who. I'm going to give it to new Who. Uh, but I'm I can't disagree with killing on on Ryan Kent coming in. He was just quality and just a different his repertoire on the side too.

Speaker 4

I like the word luxury. I like the word luxury. He gave nice.

Speaker 7

Well, it's what it is, right, because we now have we have four wingers that can cause problems, right, Georgie Pedro, Paul Rothrock and and I thought Paul had a pretty darn good game. He drew the penalty that got us right back in it. So you got to give kudos to Paul for that as well. Right, he drew that penalty that was cunning on his part. Right, luxury and cunning.

Speaker 4

So we're way late clockwise, Mitchell. I know you're very angry with me.

Speaker 14

It was fun.

Speaker 3

I was gonna go ob Vargas, ob Vargas to midfield, and in that first sixty minutes where it was really back and forth and Saint Louis could have even gone ahead, Vargas was doing work on both ends.

Speaker 4

His his goal might have even been a goal if it hadn't been deflected. Uh, And ultimately I thought he had a great game on both ends.

Speaker 3

We're gonna take a break, We're gonna decide who gets man of the Match. We're gonna come back and tell you and we're gonna continue talking about we have.

Speaker 7

Men of the match.

Speaker 6

Can we can we do that?

Speaker 4

Is that a thing that we can do?

Speaker 7

Men of the Match?

Speaker 4

Hey, we can do whatever wean. We're gonna take a break.

Speaker 6

We're gonna figure that out.

Speaker 3

We're gonna come back. There's still a lot to get to. We're gonna we're gonna go lait tonight. I don't get this is fun for one Sounders over Saint Louis. We're gonna roll on next on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM.

The Sounders Win.

Speaker 3

Sounders Win took care of business tonight at Lumenfield, Seattle, beating Saint Louis tonight four to one goals from Rusnak, Fargas, Mazovsky and knew Who. We had a discussion in the break about our man of the match. We learned that the fans voted for Obed Vargas, and I think Pete Fewing you made the deciding vote. Obed Vargas gets the man of the match, but it was close with Ryan Kent.

Great games all around from a lot of people. And how about Danny Mazzoski to you honorable mention, fourth goal in four games.

Speaker 4

The dude keeps scoring.

Speaker 3

The Mooses mod definitely loose, but it is Obed Vargas your local Toyota Doers are proud to.

Speaker 4

Present tonight's man of the match.

Speaker 3

Also, I'll let you know that Sounders FC Soccer is presented by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC.

Speaker 4

Kellen you want to jump in, I just see him.

Speaker 5

Look, this is the greatest thing about the Sounders in my opinion as a club.

Speaker 6

Right.

Speaker 5

Jordan Morris just got another MRI and is now out for another six let's say six to eight weeks. He is on the field right now with a patient who has diabetes as well, type one diabetes, and he's having a chat with them. A hard time for Jordan coming off and not feeling good about anything that's happening right now.

Speaker 4

He's going through an injury and he's down there. O bid Vargas, who we just said was man of the match, is talking to two fans who stayed after the game.

Speaker 5

He is now in his track suit, kind of already went in the locker room, talked to the guys and came right back out to make sure that he had a talk with the fans.

Speaker 4

This is Sounder soccer.

Speaker 5

This is a Sounders legacy that coach Brian Smetzer has built, that Ziggi Schmidt has built, and these fans have built. And that isn't incredible about this team and this club. So credit to the players, credit to the club. This is how you get back to the fans.

Speaker 7

Good vision on your part. And if you look out there, there's Red Baker Whiting doing skill work and the team just did a bunch of running. So that's the sign of a great program.

Speaker 4

And you're right, and you've continued a continued great program.

Speaker 7

Yes, Yes, and you've done your share of appearances and I love it. We go when we travel with him, It's not unusual to see Jordan Morris after a game with a fan of the the home team, which is and Sounders are the visitors, and Jordan will come out and chat with you. Let's you're right, good catch and that is why you win? For one sometimes well.

Speaker 4

I mean the diabetes. You know, his his program.

Speaker 3

I believe he meets with somebody after every single game home more away, yes, and and somebody whose life has been I mean, he's the work that he does with Jordan Morris Foundation.

Speaker 4

Uh, it's it's amazing and obviously.

Speaker 3

For him, you know, being out so hard, but you know, you look at the Sounders as we kind of transition and talk about on the field, and I think one of the biggest questions was can this team be successful and can this team work offensively without Jordan Morris up top to stretch the field. And I think we have seen a different type of Sounders team over these last few games. Now Jordan is out again and even with Mazowski in there, they're functioning.

Speaker 4

Quite well on the offensive end.

Speaker 5

They are in they're finding ways because it's multiple players scoring, that's no longer just Jordan.

Speaker 4

Multiple players.

Speaker 5

Yes, so you can talk about Danny Massovski not being the forward that everyone thinks he is, but four goals in four games, yeah right. You're talking about Ovid Vargas who was just a sitting he just at number six. He maybe comes forward a little bit. Well that's another goal, right, another goal. This year you're talking about the Ryan kenn inclusion, and then you're talking about new who right.

Speaker 4

They just they're spreading the love a little bit more.

Speaker 5

They're finding ways to get to get wins, get results, and you know they're running forward.

Speaker 7

When your defenders are scoring goals, that's a really good thing, right, because you're gonna rely on your forwards to do it, your wingers to do it, you're attacking midfielders. But if your defenders can get themselves forward and get a goal or two here or there, that's a good thing. The one thing when Jordan came back in the Nashville game, he got on for about I don't know, fifteen minutes and he had two really good chances. We won that

game three zero could have been five zero. So yes, to Kellen's point, let's keep spreading the wealth out with many guys scoring goals, and then we get Jordan back. If he can get right back at his rhythm that he started the season with, we're gonna be in a good spot.

Speaker 3

Here's the other thing too, We can now play multiple ways three four three four two three one. Obviously there's similarities between the two, but you know we're functioning different ways, and we can you know, Killanie, Alex and and this is gonna be Hellen.

Speaker 4

I mean, I was sorry. I was just going through names there.

Speaker 3

I could just go down the roster, all right, everybody death the airlines is prout the Doren eight one talker ball for every mile ran by Sounders FC players this season, including former Sounder Kelen Row this season three Ray Foundations, one mile one ball program.

Speaker 3

Alrighty, let's wrap up the postgame show tonight by talking about what's ahead for the Sounders. They are back on the road, I know, back forth back forth, but they're back on the road next weekend at Houston Dynamo Shell Energy Stadium. It's gonna be a Providence Swedish premat show of five o'clock kickoff of five point thirty right here Sports Radio ninety three point three kjr FM. You can also watch the match via MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV up and listen in Spanish language on l

Ray thirteen sixty. We'll preview that match extensively on Sounders Weekly Wednesday at seven pm right here on ninety three point three KJRFM. But before that, let's talk for a few seconds about what Brian Schmitzer does specifically, at the winger spot. Fifty seventh minute, Paul Rothbrock came off tonight, Ryan Kent came on.

Speaker 4

Was tremendous callen. If you're Brian Schmitzer.

Speaker 3

And you want to stick with the four two three one stick with ales rolled on, who's your left winger going in and starting that game in Houston?

Speaker 4

You know, I think the decision to start Ryan Kent is an easy one.

Speaker 6

Right.

He showed he's got the quality, he showed he's got the fitness. Now you want to give him a little bit of a runout. It's not too hot in Houston at the moment. You know he's sure it's getting to like June July. You don't want to start a player like that in his first you know, away game, start in a Houston heat. However, I think the decision is really do you play a Paul Rothrock on the right side or do you keep running out dayly Vega in a place that is hard to play. It is an

away game. It is a guy who is prone to injury. I in my opinion, I think you're starting Ryan Kent and you have patro De la Vega off the bench to replace him when he needs to come off and you have Paul Rothrock running as far as he can.

Speaker 7

I like that Paul's started all the first eleven games, right He's he didn't sort of lose his spot. I was surprising. I bet he was disappointed to come off as early as he was. But if you were to say who's done the best, I would put Paul ahead of dal le Vega on that one and maybe give Frian Kent the start. Brian's good about rewarding guys when they win, right, and we've seen that over the last few weeks. So he had a bunch of guys who were not typical starters get the win. They stayed on

the field. So we're getting close though, where he's gonna have to start making those times.

Speaker 4

The second half won this game for the Sounders, and the second half featured Ryan Kent.

Speaker 5

However, the penalty that came back to even up was a Paul Rothrock pedal.

Speaker 7

True and very heads the play from him. One thing I want to say that Brian did great tonight, in my opinion, was he left Danny Massovski on. We all wanted de Rosario to go on, but he had two good chances right before the half, which I think gave him a little bit of confidence, the team some confidence. He had another good chance as well on a ball Alex Roldn played in and Danny hid it very well, goalkeeper Knox out for a corner kick and he gets the goal. And I think some coaches would have pulled

the trigger a little quicker on Danny. And now Danny's got more confidence going into the next one.

Speaker 5

We keep talking about it, right, Danny Misowski. We've given him some hard times in the past. We've we've given him some hard times when he's played, but he's done his job once again night four for four.

Speaker 4

It's a continued streak. And when Ford's go on streaks, you know it's gonna be positive. You gotta keep running him out.

Speaker 6

Well.

Speaker 3

We'll certainly see Danny, I think starting at Ford. I will also say, Asase, the sitter of all sitters, you could have had your first tonight. He'll have another opportunity soon though. I think Tacoma Defiance, by the way, hosting Portland Timbers in the Open Cup on Tuesday night, that'll

be fun out there at Starfire Sports Complex. But once again Sounders going to Houston five o'clock, Providence swe just Premach Show five thirty kickoff right here, ninety three point three KJRFM next Saturday, Houston.
