Welcome to the Sounders FC post match show. Sounders FC Sucker is brought to you by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. The Sounders f seen postmatch show starts. Now. Wow, what a win. What a win. I think our producer back in the studio Anders may have said it best. That could be a season changing a win when it's all set and on the vibes of this team right now going into this game. We look at the last few months and a lot of it has been without either
Christian rolled On and or Jordan Morris international duty injuries. This team has struggled to score goals weekend and week out when one or both of those guys are not there. And then tonight here at BC Place in Vancouver, where there are a number sections two, eighteen to nineteen, a number a high number of traveling Sounder fans who are leaving this place happy because this team fights from down one nothing, they fight from down to one and they get all three
points in a three two win. This wasn't a squeak out win. This wasn't something the defense had to hold on to. This was an offensive game that they needed. They showed up and it changes the vibe of this team right now that they can score goals even without Christian and Jordan and oh, by the way, they'll be back soon. What's a game. Let's hear how it ended, the big moment. It's of all people, Yamar, Comez and Jode with the winner for Seattle. Wasn't that from the top of
the bucks final layout? Joinside the Bucks drives it across and it's a goal by Yama. The bench class. Yama runs to the soundest fans to on left and could that be the winning goal? A fightful food goal for the soundest, for the most unlike players. It's Jam with his left foot about sixteen yards out he drives the full home for his first goal on the season.
It's Vancouver two sounds three, and that's how the game ended. What a call there from Danny Jackson pe viewing alongside him as we bring in Pete and we welcome you all to the post match show here from a Sounders three two win. You're on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJR F him. We're not wasting any time that play where you were right there. There was a lot of epic plays in this game we'll get into. That is our Emerald Queen Casino Play of the Match. The Play of the Match each week
is presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the betting capital of the Northwest. Pete viewing three to the final, heart stopping Oh my goodness, what all win? You're quick, you're an initial thoughts on this incredible game. Well, I'm proud of the team. I'm proud of the resolve. They never gave up. You know. Michelle interviewed Brian Schwitzer at halftime and his comments were all positive, we're doing good things, We're gonna get it. And that
positivity and that belief came through today. What a terrific win. And you said it, and you know, it's never given up on a game and then believing and once you start doing this, we've been on the other side of it, right, Yeah. If if a game is not going your way and it happens repetitively, you start to think, here we go again. But the Houston win at home and then this one on the road, it's just terrific. So that is I said it earlier. This is gonna
be an exhausted locker room. They gave everything they owned there. The game was back and forth end and Seattle just never gave up, never quit, never quit. And Vancouver did a great job defensively of getting numbers behind the ball, but they gave up three goals. And you know, I think at the end, uh Sartini is probably looking at Brian saying, you know,
you never quit. And they had a really good little conversation at the end of the game, pretty genuine from where we're sitting and watching, and uh, yeah, Brian's going to be really, really proud of his players. This is one where you go around and he's probably gonna point out everybody. Stephen Cleveland. Yeah, he gave up two goals, but he made two goals saving saves, one in the first half, one in the second half to keep Seattle in it, and he's gonna be pleased. You can't
fault him for either of the two goals. The goals on restarts, we haven't had that and now we got three in one game. Let's there's a lot of different points to hit here. And the saves you mentioned their nineteenth minute, we played the highlight in the halftime show, and then eighty second
minute, just a massive saved point blank range. I mean Steph and Cleveland, Pete, you know a week ago, you know we we he was the backup and Stephen Fry was your solid goalkeeper and he's your starting number one. Who's you know, the club legend of course, a leader on this
team. Concussion midweek in training and you know, Michelle and I talked about it in the halftime show about the mental strength of this guy, you know, for for Stephen Cleveland's pregames the show, excuse me, Stephen Cleveland's mental strength to jump into starting lineup and put together good performances back a few years ago. And we sat again tonight here, Pete. I mean, this guy, you know, he's not a backup goalkeeper in MS. This is
a not only starting caliber goalkeeper. This is a top half of MS starting galliper goalkeeper. And when the Sounders can just bring him on, is your backup? I mean he puts together legendary performances like this. That's something that everybody's gonna be proud of. In that locker room. They're gonna look at Tommy Dootr and saying good for you. They're gonna look at that Steph in Cleveland and say good for you, because it is you're like a backup quarterback,
you know, to a guy like Aaron Rodgers. And then you come in and you throw four hundred yards and three touchdowns in a you know, one win. Yeah that's what he did tonight and maybe yeah exactly and so h and if you are not ready, you get punished. The first save he made in this and then you said seventeenth minute was a great save. And had he missed that one, had he not got there, you would have said, well, he's rusty, right or right? And I don't
think he would have said, well, he was not prepared. He wasn't ready for the pace of that shot. But he was ready for the pace of that shot. You know, Tommy Dootrid Brian Switzers all the time, is the best goalkeeper coach in Major League soccer. And you know, you look at what the team has done in two thousand and I have heard a good story from Tommy yesterday where Ziggi Schmid said, Okay, I'm gonna take
you, but you're not my guy. You're not my guy. I'm and I'll give you a year to prove yourself, but I've got another guy that I want in this spot. Four months in zig walked up and said, you're not leaving right, And that's that's awesome, that's and I understand, you know, Ziggy coming to Seattle at a MLS cup at at Los Angeles with the Galaxy and Columbus, he has the right to say, you know,
I'm gonna go with somebody else. But he gave Tommy Dutre chance and and and yeah, four months in he just said, hey, you're the guy for this job. And you know it's fifteen years ago that that was that Tommy started with him. But you're right, I mean, it's just it's a credit to uh, Stephan Cleveland first, right, because he stayed engaged, didn't give up the ship, didn't complain. He's always got a good attitude. And and to Stephan Fry as well, because he's a good
teammate. So he's already you know, I'm sure there's been I'm sure Cleveland has some text on his phone from Fry telling him what a great job he did. So we got a really good and then you got Andrew Thomas who's on the bench tonight, and he's phenomenal. He's a very very good goalkeeper. Fans haven't even seen how good this kid is he? Yeah? Yeah, I remember I remember being with Matt Johnson and who was talking about this kid? Uh Russell, this quarterback named Russell right, and he said,
you way, we had just signed Matt Flynn. He said, Russell Wilson's gonna be the starting quarterback for the six. We were talking to a newport I stretch knew what he was talking. He knew what he was talking about. It. And Andrew Thomas is a very, very talented goalkeeper. And Fry's got more years on him. This isn't his last year. He's got a number of years left on him. But yeah, kudos to Tommy du
Trip because those those saves lift a team and save a team. When he made the second one, I think that would have put Vancouver up three two and Seattle had just come back, so exactly. Yeah, I just amazing performance. You know. Listening at the end of the day, I think Tonight's Toyota Man of the Match is Leo Chewing and deservedly so, with the other two goals and the influence on the final goal. There were his shot
slash cross is deflected saved back out to Gomas Andrade. So Leo Chiu had a hand, a big hand, if not the whole thing, and in all three goals. So Leo Chi is absolutely deserving of tonight's Toyota Man of the Match. Your local Toyota dealers are proud to present tonight's Man of the match, but Steph and Cleveland has a darn good shout to be man of the match as well and get a share of that because he was outstanding tonight.
Let's take a break, we'll come back. We'll welcome in Michelle Ledgka to the post match show and also hear her conversation with Tonight's man of the match Leo Chow. That comes up next as we're celebrating a Sounders three two win here at BC Place in Vancouver. It's gonna be a good night in Vancouver. The team's gonna head back with the fans staying up here. Yeah, we're all gonna have a good time. Somebody send me on Twitter where
we're drinking tonight mare. Next on the postgame show, Sports Radio three point three KJRFM. Well comes across and it's again it's a Jackson Regan Leo jew combination, this time delivery again from Latero find Jackson Reagan this time It was on the far side, the righte. It was a header across goal and he was Leo Joe with his second goal on the night, his third goal in the season, and he ties it up here in BC Place, Vancouver,
two Sounders two. And then a ninety first minute Yamar Gomez Andrade goal made it three to two and your Sounders took Gara business tonight at BC Place in Vancouver three two road win. First time this season by the way that the Centers have scored two plus goals without Christian rolled On and or Jordan Morris. Great offensive performance tonight in this road win. Great fight of the team down one nothing, score down to one score and then two two they get
the winner. Tonight's man of the match is Leo Chow. Michelle Luca had the chance to chat with him on the sideline just moments ago. Leo, congratulations not only on your performance to night, but also the win. What does it say about the team that you guys fought the way you did and came back to get those three points. Yeah, that's good. We're win. We're all happy. This week was so good for us. Bet when you harded so Yeah, we had happy. Two wins. The sequence,
So keep piling two goals for you and an assist. What change in the second half that gave you those opportunities? I mean they gain change every dinosaur and it will be a ready every every single move sequence, so I was prepared with them. Welcome for me time, happy to go that you guys just gave Vancouver their first loss at home since March. What is it about this team that makes them so difficult to play here? Yeah, it's always it's always hard to play here. I'll get to beat to my guys and
if they game the big great game. So that's so happened because we win and yeah, let's go. Leo, congratulations, thanks so much for the time. That's Lao Chi Sounders goalscorer times two tonight. Also big hand in that third goal and the Sounders getting the three to win. Michelle Ludka down
there with Lao Che after the game. Well. Sounders FC Soccer is presented by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Sounders FC, and as we bring Michelle Ludkin, Michelle that I imagine down there on the sideline was a pretty happy team coming off of this heck of a win. Oh, I have not seen this squad celebrate like that in quite sometimes. They were happy, I mean they were joyous. It was I think this was this is one of those matches that I think we're going to go back and look at and
be like, wow, this really meant something to this squad. This is a moment in the season where it could have gone one way or another, and this is going to project the Sounders forward. I mean, you heard it in my interview with Leo. I mean, we just broke the white Caps nine match unbeaten streak at home. How good does that feel that we did that? And then for Leo, I love this obviously he was fantastic tonight, but all time against Vancouver. He now has two assists and three
goals against Vancouver. So there's something in the air. Leo, you know, comes up here and it's just fire pet that's impressive numbers that is, you know, and and uh, jingle bells in the locker room will be a lot. It's a team win, wasn't it. I bet you could see with each goal, the entire bench, players and coaches, you know, Brian Schmutzer just uh until the third one especially, he wasn't showing a
ton of emotion, but trying to keep everybody locked in. You know, they gave up a second goal when they tied at one one, they gave up a quick second goal. That was disappointing. They fixed that for when they went ahead three to two. Uh and and so yeah, that's a great win. But again, you know, you said it a little bit. It's these moments where the locker room changes, right, everybody, and everybody's going to be spent on this one. And it's uh, someone said
it in college. It might have been Lombardi, it was it was ProFootball. He said, there's nothing better than lying in the locker room in the total exhaustion of victory. It's a good one, beautiful Yeah, yeah, Vince Lombardi, right, And yeah, nothing better than lying in the locker room in the total exhaustion of victory. And I would say that a lot of those guys. I thought JP had a really good game, Jackson Reagan had a really good game. I thought Nico was good, Raoul put his
work in. Chew obviously did really well. And and you've got to give Vancouver credit. There's a reason they have gone nine games without a loss. It's a good team and Seattle War them down and now onto San Jose. But they got to enjoy this one for the bus ride home. That's a great win and it gives them some resolve. I think they've changed something in the last two games. They got four goals, right, getting three goals today, Like you say, without Christian and without Jordan Morris, it's that's
just a good win. And this team's kind of fragile. They had a great start to the year, but then they've been a little bit up and down, and you inch forward with confidence as a group and then you feel better as a group. And so going to San Jose, and San Jose's not the San Jose. Lucie Gonzalez has got that team going in a good direction, much better than it has been for a long time. So that's
not going to be a cakewalk. And Brian Schmitzer's Michelle, Wouldn't you think Brian Schmittzer is gonna have to rotate the lineup for that game with San Jose. Oh, he definitely will. But I think he's going to be so pleased tonight, and I think he's going to enjoy this victory, like you said in the bus ride home tonight, and I think one of the biggest takeaways is when I talked to Brian Schmittzer at halftime. You know, he
said the team was basically there except for that final execution. And he said that is what he stressed at halftime in the locker room of the only thing that they needed to change was the timing and vigor of that final step. And I think that's exactly what the team did. And he specifically mentioned Leo to me at halftime, but he was one of the players who needed to make that change. So I think it's got to be so rewarding to be heard, have the players, you know, hear what you're having to say,
make those changes, and then come away and be rewarded. And best possible way to go into a three match week. That's absolutely right, because San Jose on Wednesday, Dallas on Saturday. Yeah, heck of a way to start the week. Back to back wins for your Sounders. Delta Airlines is product to donate one soccer ball for every mile ran by Sounders sc players
this season the Ray Foundations One Mile, One Ball program. If you're just joining us, we are celebrating it's a Sounders three to two win up here at BC Place in Vancouver. Will be a fun night here. The team is headed back to Seattle. That'll be good vibes on the travel home. We'll continue the postmatch shown No, we are way overtime, sorry Anders. We will wrap up the postmatch show by looking ahead to this busy week ahead
for your Sounders. That comes up next on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM. Welcome back to BC Place in Vancouver, BC, Canada. Sounders about to head back to Seattle. Sounder fans enjoying the evening up here as the club gets a three two win tonight over the Whitecaps. They were down one nothing, came back and scored. They were down to one, came back and scored, and they were able to get the winner in the ninety first minute. Yamar Gomez Andrade of all people slots at home to make it
three to two. Well, time to look ahead at what's next. Very briefly for the Sounders, it's a busy week. Not only does the club play on Saturday at home against Dallas, but the next match is gonna be on Wednesday. That's gonna be on July twelfth, kickoff as this match is gonna be at San Jose. So kickoff at the Earthquakes will be at seven thirty and the Providence, Swedish prematch show will be get at seven o'clock right
here on Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM. You know, so watch the match if ia MLS Season pass on the Apple TV app or listen in Spanish language on l Ray at thirteen sixty. So, Pete viewing Michelle Lakes. We look ahead to this match, specifically the Wednesday one. Not a lot of subs in this game, especially earlier. It took a long time for Brian Spencer to make his first change. That would tell me, Pete, we're gonna see a fair bit of rotation come Wednesday's match in San Jose.
Yeah. I think there's two things he's thinking on that. One one year, right, a big rotation. I think he even mentioned that to us. Yeah. And then but then the other part is I think sometimes Brian will do this. Good coaches will do this. They'll let a team gut it out, they'll let a team find a way to win. If you take guys off too quickly, and it hasn't been completely banked, but he let the guys stay on the field and then he did make a couple
of changes. I liked ab Sasoko going in at the back for rural rule idea. So yeah, I think that is the case. But I like the subs that he made late to close the game out. But he might have left those guys on the field so that they could get the satisfaction of getting the job done. The belief in that locker room is the strongest it's probably been this season since the early part of the year when they got off to such a great start. Absolutely, I completely agree with you, coach.
It was I think that's exactly what Schmetzer was doing of wanting to give the opportunity to the players, and honestly, I think they deserve to stay on the field based on how they were playing. I think they did such a great job of that. And to your point, Jackson, yes, I think we'll see a rotation like we normally do in a three match week.
Not only are the Sounders trying to juggle kind of finishing out MLS play before the break, but also Schmetzer telling us at a production meeting that they're in it to win it when it comes to League's Cup, and so he needs to be kind of rotating through players, keeping people healthy obviously first and foremost, especially mentioned Alex Roldon. You know, he's seen so many minutes and eventually he's got to give him a break at some point because he's gonna
need him with League's Cup as well. So yeah, it's it's gonna be a rotation. But knowing Schmittzer and this team, you know that they're going to be out for three points in California as well. Absolutely they will be, so tune in for that Wednesday seven o'clock Providence, Swedish pre match seven thirty kickoff sounders at San Jose Earthquakes. I want to thank everybody with the
