Welcome to the Sounders FC Postmatch Show. Sounders FC Soccer is brought to you by Delta Airlines. Proud to donate one soccer ball for every mile ran by Sounders FC players this season through Rave Foundation's One Mile, One Ball program. And by Providence Swedish, official health care partner of Seattle Sounders FC. The Sounders FC post-med show starts now. Well, for the first time, the Sounders have defeated Nashville SC.

In their fourth game against the club, it is a big win at home. 3-0. First time the Sounders have been home in about a month as well. And what a return it is with the 3-0 win. Goals. A lot of them there in the first 35 minutes. First from Mazovsky, next from De La Vega, and then Paul Rothrock finished it off. Paul Rothrock ended with a goal and an assist, and he's down on the field with Michelle Lutka.

Thank you, Jackson. Paul, first of all, congratulations on your second goal of the season and the big win today. Huge three points and a clean sheet against a very tough Nashville side. What impressed you most about the performance that your team put together today? Oh, man, a lot. I think there were a lot of wins tonight. You know, we've never beat Nashville, so there's a first there. We got a lot of guys back.

You know, guys getting on the field again with Jordan and Albert and Alex and, you know, Ryan making his debut and three different goal scorers, clean sheet from the defense. Really solid home win. Yeah. You mentioned it. You guys beat the unbeaten streak or broke the unbeaten streak. That's what I'm trying to say there. Against Nashville. First win in four meetings.

What was it about the group that came together tonight to get that done? Yeah, I think we were really trying to build off the positive momentum from last game. I think the win at Dallas was really big for us. And could we stack two on top of each other? And that's a really good start. And we wanted to make an exciting game for our fans. I think the way Nashville plays. suits the game to be exciting. It was back and forth and Steph made some good saves early which was important too.

It feels like we're just starting to turn the tide a little bit and a win after each weekend. Everyone's feeling a little bit better in training, so hopefully we can just keep building on this. On that note, building on that momentum, that confidence, keeping it going, it's been talked about over the years by this club of how they like to make Lumen Field a force. that they want it to be a scary place for other teams to come in. So far through 2025, you guys are unbeaten.

here at Lumen Field. What does that do for the confidence and the momentum moving forward with this squad? It's huge. It's huge. And I think it is a very scary place to play. I mean, we have some of the best fans in MLS. We have some of the most fans in the MLS too. It's got that big stadium atmosphere feel, and I think we can continue to use that to our advantage. I think people don't like playing here for a number of different reasons, so hopefully we can keep that streak going.

Now, you personally, obviously great that they had the win tonight, but obviously you personally, second goal of this season. But then on the defensive side, you made Mukhtar a non-factor in this one. What worked so well? Oh, thank you. You know, just doing my job and staying focused on that. Modesty. Yeah, I think guys made it easy for us. I thought a couple guys had some really good performances. You know, Christian had...

My opinion was man of the match. Asus had a great game too, obviously, but he was all over the place. Obed was all over the place. I think our tactics were well thought out too, but, you know, I didn't think they challenged our left side that much either. So, and, you know, Nuhu and I are starting to develop a good partnership. And I'm excited for where that continues to grow.

Before I let you go, Paul, one last question here. We saw, while it was a similar lineup tonight that we saw against Dallas in that win, it didn't have your traditional starters across the board that were taking.

tonight and usually when teams kind of mix the starters with guys off the bench and you sometimes see not as much cohesion but that didn't seem to be the case at all for you guys there you guys seem to be very much playing freely and really just slotting in what does it say about of players that you guys are able to put in a performance like you did today when you're mixing.

Yeah, I think you guys have heard it. I've said it. Our depth is our strength, and it's starting to show in games like this. You know, we had a couple guys who aren't usual starters. Our bench was so scary tonight. Xiao Paolo, Ryan Kent, all coming off the bench. Alex Roldan. So hopefully that can continue to be a strength. I think it pushes guys harder in training as well, you know, because you know everyone's sniffing for playing time.

Everyone's pushing each other in like a healthy way right now. So, yeah, great stuff to build on. Absolutely. Let's keep it going. Paul, congratulations on the win and the goal. Really appreciate the time. Jackson back to you. Thanks Michelle. That's Paul Rothrock.

He said Christian Roldan, man of the match. That's going to be a fun conversation here on the postgame show as we get started. So I will say, I think we both agree now, Jesus Ferreri, your Toyota man of the match, your local Toyota dealers are proud to present tonight's man of the match. So many good candidates.

Just overall. But then again, Christian Roldan. I mean, he was great, too. It was a great performance from multiple people, and that's what we're trying to get to here is the fact that there was, I mean, Christian Roldan was probably my number two.

is probably number three for me. And then I would give it to Pedro de la Vega as well because he's starting to come alive once again. We talked about the million-dollar man. Now we've got about four of them. But the million-dollar man that everyone wants to see, the Pedro de la Vega of last year that everyone was kind of disappointed about, ourselves included. Finally coming to fruition his talent, his awareness, his ability to play and glue with these guys that are around him.

And you've got to remember, these are the glue guys we talked about at the pregame and the halftime. These are the guys that may not be starting in two weeks. Right. He's gluing with everyone around. That's a positive. And Danny Mazofsky right now, two goals in two games, and he's doing well. And then now, well, Jordan Morris comes onto the field, plays the 63rd minute on, and he had big opportunities, Kellen.

Really about three major opportunities. Couldn't get one in the back of the net. Had a chance to get an assist to Ryan Kent, who could have had his first touch be a sounder goal. But overall, we saw Jordan put himself in goal-dangerous position. Well, we talked about it as we were watching the game is we need to get these guys on the field and get them a little bit of game fitness, game awareness, game.

You know, quality, I guess. You know, rub that rust off just a little bit. You would think a goal scorer, you know, finds two chances. You know, there are two breakaways. I think Jordan's very good at is putting those away. You saw just a little bit of rust from... the last few weeks you know being out.

You see Ryan Kent with some very good touches, but again, that little bit of rust from that final ball, Albert Rusnak being the same. So once you continue to give these guys minutes and they get comfortable again, it's not as easy as everyone says. You're stepping into a game that's already high-paced. You're coming off an injury.

And so you're kind of reserved just a little bit. You want to go full out, but you know it's not a good time to do so. So mentally, there's a lot of things going on in these guys' heads. So if they can just get that little bit of rust, that little bit of confidence back, you're going to see a lot more goals coming. This is a confident group right now. I mean, the really back-to-back win. and for everything that they had going on today, and the second straight clean sheet as well.

You also got the return of Alex Roldan. You got the return of Albert Rusnak. Both back from injury and both looked good as well. No new injuries. Overall, just a very, very good week and night here at Lumen Field for your Seattle Sound.

We do have to figure out the play of the match. There's a couple, I think, candidates. One probably more likely than the other, but we'll discuss that in the break. Before we get there, we'll tell you quickly. Sounders FC Soccer is presented by Providence Swedish, official healthcare partner of Sounders. FC. on Sports Radio 93.3 KJR-FM. Welcome back to Lumen Field and the post-game show. Seattle Sounders beating Nashville today by a score of 3-0 Jackson Feltz. Kellen Rowe here to wrap up the post-match show. And it's time for our Emerald Queen Casino play of the match. Kellen, I think it's an interesting conversation because I think the second and third goal is both in contention. One, you have Obed Vargas put together a great minute-long sequence.

First initial attack, they earn the ball back. He creates the assist to a great Pedro De La Vega goal. Third one, you have De La Vega finding Jesus Ferreira. Ferreira, good hold-up play, crosses it all the way to the left side with a great finish from Paul Rothrock.

I think both of them are great goals. Which one do you want to give it to? I mean, both are good goals, but for me it was the second goal from Pedro de la Vega that kind of put the Sounders in a good position, while the third goal just kind of gave them a side. And so for me, it was that second goal by Pedro de la Vega. The lead up to the play, Opin Vargas kind of just taking over and dropping his shoulder multiple times, making guys miss. I mean, those guys are already.

back in Nashville, to be honest with you. And then he plays a great ball in, and you see a streaking Pedro de la Vega. For me, it's the confidence of Pedro de la Vega and finding that back. It was a great play overall. Here's what it sounded like with Danny Jackson and Pete Fewing on the call. There's Roldar, picks the pocket again, poor play by Kassem, down the line it goes to Vargas, towards the end line, cuts it back, Delvega!

Brilliant goal by the Sounders. Made by Vargas. And scored by De La Vega. Sounders lead. Two goals to nil. And the Sounders won 3-0. And with their win today, you win tomorrow. for you. And Kellen, Danny talked about it. Obed Vargas making that play happen. So much work he put in to get the assist, to do the work even before the assist for the Sounders on that attack. And then you mentioned the day La Vega finished. Just overall the day for Obed Vargas. Well, the day for the midfield was tremendous. That doesn't just mean Christian and Obed. It means, you know, Jesus Ferreira.

it means Pedro De La Vega coming in and helping. I mean, Nashville had no idea what was happening. I think Christian and Obed were a big part of that, and Obed especially, especially when they're on the ball. They had way more, way more. And like I said, the little movements from Obed, the drop of the shoulder and letting the ball run past his body as I try and do it as if someone's seeing me.

It's the little things like that that create a little bit of space. And for Obed, with someone who has the little quickness, the little touches that are very, very good, it creates so much space. every single game. And that's what I love to see is he's now getting rewarded with those little touches, with those little plays, with a good vision in assists or goals.

I should mention that the play of the match there is presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the betting capital of the Northwest. All right, Kellen, looking ahead to what's next. It is a week away. Sounders at Colorado Rapids. Pacific Time will have a 6 o'clock Providence-Swedish pre-match show, 6.30 kickoff.

I believe it's on 93.3 KJRFM. It might be on 950. We'll have more broadcast details later in the week. Yeah, it is 93.3 KJRFM, so same station right here next Saturday, 6 o'clock, 6.30 kickoff for Sounders. Colorado folks. You can also watch the match on MLS season pass on the Apple TV app and listen in Spanish language. Cowan, you have a bunch of guys now healthy. Jordan's healthy.

You have Albert Rusnak got back on the field healthy. Alex rolled on. Meanwhile, you're getting results out of the guys that you've now started from two straight matches. What do you do if you're Brian Schmetzer? I think you run these guys out and you start to slowly add. It depends on how the game goes. If it's 2-0, 3-0 like it was today, you give guys a little bit of rest. today's starting lineup and you give the guys coming back from injury, guys that are getting new to the field.

and Kent, you give them a little bit more minutes. But for now, you kind of, you don't, why change if it's not broken? They're creating a lot. They're scoring a lot of goals. You don't want to take a forward of Danny Masofsky off when he's scoring goals and has that confidence. Don't take that confidence away. Ride it until it's gone. Write it, write it, write it. And I will say we talked about great players and great plays. I'd be remiss if I didn't say it.

I know Stefan will kill me, but look, Stefan Fry, Kim Keehee, Yamar. They got the shutout. Kim Keehee shows up on his. Home debut back with Seattle, and it gets a shutout. And a very good game against a good opponent. Stephen Fry. The game would be very different if he didn't have those two or three saves in the first half, which were, yes, a little bit of bad finishing, but good positioning by Stephen Fry to make it hard.

multiple saves to do so. So going into this next week, they had a great performance at home, which is what you want to see as a Seattle fan, as a Seattle organization, because you want to make this a four. Michelle talked about earlier with Paul Rothrock. But you have to make sure it's also on the road as well. So you started off great, well done in Dallas, came back home. Can you make it that three for three, make a great performance?

I'm glad you mentioned the defense there. I mean, on the Sounders podcast, I predicted 3-2 because I was thinking, okay, Jackson Reagan comes out. Can that back line have that cohesiveness? And your player to watch, Kim Keehee, just solid. And just that veteran, solid presence that he provides. And it's just like he never left. Real good, and him, Yamar, knew it all worked today for the Sounders defensively. Second straight clean sheet, second straight win, 3-0 tonight over.

Nashville. Next match, Colorado, right here, 93.3 KJRFM, 6 o'clock pre-match, 6.30 kickoff for Sounders in... And I want to thank everybody with the broadcast today.
