See Welcome to the SOUNDERSC postmatch show. Sounders FC Soccer is brought to you by Providen, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. The SOUNDERSC postmatch show starts now. Welcome in to the postmatch show Sounders falling tonight two to one at home to Austin FC. Let's head down to the field. Michelle luckcho with Dylan Savas. Thank you Jackson, Dylan, thank you so much for taking the time. Obviously not the result you guys wanted today, but

your team showed tremendous fight, especially in the second half. What do you think that says about this squad? Yeah, I would say this squad never quits, even downe to the last minute. We're always pushing to the final whistle. And this one thing that you can you can always come on most with you. What was it about Austin that gave you guys so much trouble

to night? I've thin just came out with the five back and made a little difficult It's fund in the pockets for yourness, chrispos We wants to be in the midfields, you know. It's something that we'll look at work on and improve on and be ready for Vancouver this king the weekend. You and I were talking before we've gone on the radio here that you had some opportunities probably ones you'll be continuing to think about that we just helped could have gone

all the way through. Head coach Brian Schmitzer had lovely things to say about you earlier this week, saying that he's been really impressed. You've really made an impression on him and the rest of the team. What is it about

your game that's been clicking so well lately? You know, I think I like to watch older guys like Christian all those guys and kind of take what all their qualities and put into my own as well, being hard working, always putting in the tackle and just getting in behind the back line, and I think that jove them all the credit sends, you know, just our player we can keep pushing on. Absolutely, And speaking of some of those

older veteran players, Freddie Montero comes in has the lone goal for the Sounders tonight, his seventy and ninth goal in club history for the Sounders. That's the most goal scored by any players wearing a Seattle Sounders jersey. What did you see on that goal, and what is it about Freddie that just kind of makes you go wow when he when he connects like that. Freddie is just an incredible player. He always is in the right place at the right

time, and he's just clinical. When he gets the chance, he puts it away. And that's something that we can all learn from, even me, you know at the back and you know he's just always there at the right time. Onto Vancouver this weekend. What is your main takeaways from this one's or things that you want to forget as you guys get ready for the Cascadia Cup or Cascadia Rival on Saturday. Yeah, I would say we can

take her qualities. I'm just you know, trying to put the ball in the back of the nets and grinding out the games given a clean sheet. I think this is something that we gotta get back to and just emphasizing hard workings, um being clinical. Dylan, it's never easy speaking after a loss. Really appreciate the time. YEA, thank you for having me of course, Jackson mate, thanks Michelle. It's Michelle lud cut down there on the

field. But Dylan saida is again the sounder is falling tonight. It's Awsiness by a score of two to one. Jackson Pellis and Mad Cascadia Sports dot Net here for the postmatch show. We're gonna take you for the next twenty five minutes or so. All right, MOUs, let's just get into it. Um, let's go. There's a lot to go over. There's a lot to get into with this game. Well, can we can dissect it in specific moments coming up in the second segment. I just want to start

with this. I am so tired of facing teams who are so low in the table. We faced Portland in Portland on April fifteenth. They were a downtrodden team who had been losing and had not won a game in a while. We let them get back in the MLS season. We give them hope. We fall to them four to one. We then face Kansas City a week and a half ago here at home, who were last placed in the Western Conference. We give up an early goal, we lose two to one.

We give them hope as they were the bottom of the entire league. The Galaxy in the Open Cup, they were doing terrible in MLS. You can say what you want about the lineup, but nonetheless you give the Galaxy hope and they win three to one in the Open Cup a week ago. And now here tonight you face Austin SC, a team in twelfth place in the Western Conference, a team who hadn't won in more than two months.

March eleventh was their last win. And once again, you give a team who is so down, you give them hope, and you did not put them away. We have now seen four occasions this season with a sound and early in the season where the Sounders could have put their foot on the throat and made a mark and played like a dominant first place team that they are, and we have not seen it. Over and over and over again. I am tired of losing to lower position teams. I am tired of giving

lower these teams hope. I am tired of not getting points out of games that you should be getting many points from. I'm tired of it. Mos while so then you say, okay, fair, you're tired. So what is the issue? The first thing is you're not coming out on the front foot. You're not ready to start. When you're walking off from that tunnel, y'all can't see it. But obviously when you're coming up from that tunnel, you know your body language. I just don't see it when the whistle

blows. I'm just not seeing the team coming out already to really be I would say, defend every blade of glass, that's grass that's out there when every duel, and then to your point, as soon as you get the lead, you keep the lead. But Brian Spencer said it after the Portland game, now, which kind of repeat what you said. He said, we gave them light. Yeah, to your point, that's what's been going on. And you know, sometimes it's it's that extra pass that you're not

making. Sometimes it's not that extra me coming towards you in terms of the defender, you know, putting pressure on you, forcing the ball to go out. It's the little things that are not happening. And we talked about this off air little bit, just in terms of totally the runs, you know what I mean. We saw a couple of times where players started to run and then they stopped. And I'm not blaming the players, so m sech from a systemic perspective, right, am I supposed to run? Am

I not? But there is just a lack of willingness to do the headstra and they're having to think about it and that's what's causing the other team to, oh, okay, we got a chance here. There's a little bit of doubt in that eye. So in athletics, if I see you right, and I'm playing in whatever sport it is, and there's a little bit

of doubt there, I'm going for it. That's exactly right. And what you're doing is you're now creating the narrative for other teams around the league where if you're making you know, if you're in a bad stretch of games, if you've had a bad month, oh, we're facing the Seattle Sounders.

That's our get right game. And you're you're giving the teams. You're only giving these these teams that have beaten you Portland and Casey and tonight Austin, you're only giving them home moving forward, You're giving the teams hope that you're going to be facing Vancouver. They lost, I believe they lost tonight. I know they lost to Portland just this last weekend. Now suddenly then Couver

looks at all right, Seattle is the get right game. And it was this weird because Seattle going into the night was a first place team in the Western Conference, and yet they're allowing these other teams to exactly put that look in your eye and say and say, and yeah, Vancouver did lose two

to one tonight to Dallas. So now going into this game, you're giving all these other teams hope and building this narrative of Seattle's the team that's allowing these other teams back into seasons, back into getting points, and back into contention. It needs to stop and adding insult to injury. You've lost two home games in a row. Yeah, what oh my? And Brian sements to talk about this early on. He did he didn't like the word fortress, red member a joke in a row, but he wanted to make this

a place to what teams could nick a point. He said, we want this to place. It's right, you don't want nobody having any life thinking, man, we can nick one, maybe we can get a couple of points. And it's happened two games in the rect So frustrating, clearly, and clearly I'm frustrating. Go ahead, No, no, you know obviously the fans are as well, and it's going back in terms of I think there's some confusion or some hesitancy in terms of how are we attacking teams.

We talked about this in the first after where you know we I thought you agreed there were two compact in the middle, and I'm like, but wait a minute. This is a Sounders team that normally goes wide. But do your point do in the second you know, when we did the halftime show, you said they have to pick, but then they did, right, So they didn't wide and you saw a little bit more much more. You

mean, they're more offensive and they actually took more shots. But there is a little bit of hesitancy in terms of you know what, how are we attacking here? Yeah, I know we're a little bit so I gotta take a break. I will quickly say that Sounder fans Sam Transit would like to remind everyone to obey all signs and signals win around train tracks. Laywo trains are quiet and come in both directions, so stay aware and play is safe.

We'll continue talking about tonight's

Sounder's loss two to one at home to Austin FC. More on the postmatch show Jackson Felts must vitam Era more next on Sports Radio nine fifty KJR, AM, you're listening to the home of Sounders fc CM on Sports Radio nine fifty KJR. Welcome back to looman Field. Postmatch show here on Sports Radio nine t KJR AM, Sounders falling tonight's two to one to Austin FC. All right, MOUs have calmed down. I've taken a breather during the break. I'm so mad. I'm still tired of what's been happening, but I'm

at least a little more calm and he listen. I'm a fan first. We were just choking off here. I'm a fan first, and yeah, not not not a good result. The Sounders haven't scored more than one goal in an MLS match in a while and it's it's frustrating, but we move forward. We'll get looking ahead to Vancouver in a little bit. But it is time for our Emerald Queen Casino Play of the match. It was the

sounders lone goal. It came in the seventy ninth minute from Freddy monteroll up of the bucks to with that turned back to goal plays Able sat about Kara. That is a goal, Montera, cool as you like, and it was a good play by this sounds on the right hand sign it had been sick founded there the couple of the buck and he was able to find bunk Tara with the passer and there was no doubt and Mo Kara step forward to sound the bucking corner of the goal and just what the sound is needed It

sounded one often too. The Play of the Match is presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the betting capital of the Northwest. That was the Sounders loan goal. They were not able to get a second goal. They had a couple of chances. Brad Stuber a great save on a Jordan Morris chance in the eighty fourth minute, point blank range on a save and also wide open header at the back post for a bear in the ninety third minutes that went wide.

The Sounder's fall two to one, and Mas, you know, looking at the start of this game when we got to Keys of the match, you know one of the stats you brought up and one of the stats we know Brian Spencer cares about is duels. One. I know you have the statistic. What did that duels stat end up as? And what did you see in that category on the field tonight? Absolutely so Austin FC forty eight duels went to the Sounders thirty five, forty eight to thirty five. There

you go. And so what that is isn't And as we talked about, it's it's it's putting pressure, if on the offensive guys, putting pressure on the defensive guy. It's a mentality that great Northwest that Brian had talked about. We didn't see that at all. We didn't see it enough in this game. And that is to win every blade of grass. That every chance you get to win that ball, every chance you get to make that great

pass, it puts a player in a dangerous position until your point. Every chance you get to make that run to open up the space for another player, those little things just went being done. That's what I saw out there. That's exactly right. We just didn't see that little bit of extra from the Sounders tonight and it results in a two to one loss to Austin FC. But you know, this is frustrating. We ought to turn the page.

So let's start looking ahead to what's next. And it's a really quick turnaround, really quick turnaround, because the team is heading to Vancouver in less than forty eight hours. I headed up on Friday. They'll face the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday. We'll dig into that coming up on our next segment. First, I'll tell you the Sounder fans the next fifty years starts now. Looking at this game, you know you got minutes at a new minutes at of Leo Chw You were able to take off Russ, Snack and Laderow. You think that they all are

going to be factoring big time into the match coming up on Saturday. Well that's the positive, right, you know, we're trying to anticipate it here. But yeah, no, no, you know you've got to go in there and kind of turn the tables on a Vancouver you know, team that slows two games in a row, so you know they're a little bit they can't get right like the other teams have gotten right against Well, well you know what I mean. That's that's the thing about professional sports, right.

You know, you you're a sports guy and you have a lot of sports and that's the thing. You know. The best thing that can happen to the Sounders right now is to play another game within what forty eight or seventy two hours and So now what's aiming the Sounders a little bit is you haven't had a lot of time to really change things in practice tactically. That's been part, you know, but that's not an excuse, that's the reality.

But what you need now going to the Vancouver Games, you need your veterans, which you talked about a little bit right. The young guys have done all that they can, but now you need your veterans to really say, you know what, let's set the tone. Let's sew that was still in the first place, but we are the better team. This guy is not falling. What we need to do now is get right. I needed to hear that this guy is not following. I think I personally needed to hear

that after that first segment.
