Welcome to the Sounders FC Postmat Show. Sounders FC Soccer is brought to you by Delta Airlines, proud to donate one soccer ball for every mile rand by Sounders FC players this season through Rave Foundations one Mile one Ball program and by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. The Sounders FC Postmat Show starts now.
Well after ninety plus minutes of play, the Sounders come from behind to find the equalizer in Seattle heads home with the road point thanks to the one to one draw with the San Jose Earthquakes. This is a Sounders FC postmats show. I'm Michelle Ledka alongside Chance Fry and Pete Fewing. Sounders showed some grit in this one. Guys, what is your take on the performance?
Well, much better second half. We talked at halftime what's going on in the locker room And I don't know if it was players getting after each other and trying to elevate or whether it's coach Smetzer doing it, but it was a much better second half. Some good substitutions from coach Smitzer. Masovski came in, Boy had a couple of chances that he's gonna want back and could have put the game away. But he was active and he created some things. Georgie on the left hand side was
just a great bolt of lightning for the team. He got in a lot of crosses, very dangerous, had a couple of shots. You know, knew who four shots tonight, two really good ones. We hit a lot of really good shots right at Daniel the goalkeeper. The one that Albert did score on far post, low and hard. It was the same velocity of the other shots, but they all went straight at the goalkeeper. So boy, we've scored some really good goals and we've been unlucky in that today.
The deflection, a couple of own goals, a couple of giveaways, a slip and then a free kick. So we're looking for some luck. It will come, the law of averages. But I thought the second half I was pleased to see, and I'm sure coach Metzro will say the same. Pleased to see that they elevated their game.
Yeah, I would agree with that. It was kind of like three parts to the second half. The beginning of the second half they were really sharp. The middle third, maybe Santose got ahold of the game a little bit, but for sure the final third and Missovski came in and did well. He really did a great job of holding the ball up for it for us, which was great. And we're gonna look at him because he is a striker that he should have scored right. He had the
one that got crossed into him. He tried to play it with the outside of his right foot, which is basically making your foot into a wedge which puts the ball over, and then the other one when he came in and he tucked it into his left foot. In my mind, I know it's easy to see it from the outside, but he opens up his body with his right foot, curls it around and it's got the whole goal to shoot out. But other than that, I thought he did well. But I was writing the note here.
We didn't have a ton of chances, but we had enough. And we're picking on Missovski because he's a striker, but even knew who and a number of other players had good positions to shoot, and they're trying to hit it with power all the time instead of picking out corners. And I would really like to see us try to pick out corners versus just smashing the ball hard.
This was what happens when you're not quite as confident, right you you have a chance. There was one with Albert Russneck where he just turned and tried to swung and missed after he'd scored a really good goal. Had he known you had a little bit of time, he would have been able to settle the ball and he could have hit the exact same shot to get his second goal of the night. So this is what happens
when you're trying to get confidence. When the movement I thought was much better in the second half, the movement off each other. Massovski made some good runs in. But it's to chance's point, you know, boy, we just we had one go through Forever's legs right on a really good cross from Georgie and so we had a couple inside the six gosh, inside the two yards two goal where just a little topok which Massovski got against Cruise a zool right. He had a goal just like that
against cruisez zoul. So again a little bit unfortunate. I am really glad that they came back and got the goal because it showed the resolve that you know they would be very defeated right now if they come out of this game and they get nothing out of it.
Yeah, taking a point's not the end of the world. But to your point, the one that went Throughjesus's legs, that's something that I wrote down here. Were standing in the box. We're not dynamic. We're not checking away and creating space and running across, but people's bodies getting to the near post, far post and trailing runners. If you do that and you get crosses that are coming in from Georgie, I think you're going to get more goals.
The other thing is Georgie is awesome. He's been amazing coming off the bench, but I think he needs to simplify a little bit. Get by somebody cross, get by somebody cross, so we know what he's going to do. It's a little bit hard to read when he's going to cross. And once they get that SYNCD up, I think he's going to be He's going to create a lot of assists. He's very exciting.
Twenty six shots for the Sounders today, nine of those, of course on goal, but twenty six you don't see a number like that every day.
Nine for San Jose, three on goal.
I think my favorite line of the actual call of the broadcast between Jack and Brad was when Brad said who had on their bingo card?
Knew who taking four shots?
And I think it just really speaks to the depth and the teamwork and the work ethic of this team that you know, Jordan Morris is out. We obviously missed him on the pitch tonight, We miss him anytime that he is unable to play for this club. But you had players across the board trying to pull this one out after the I would say, disappointing first forty five minutes of play.
I thought, knew who had two of his best shots of his time in Seattle, all within thirty five seconds of each other. And so yeah, guys did and guys do have to step up. That's what I was hoping in the locker room what happened at halftime, that some of our veteran players would say, we've got to get a little bit more. I thought, you know, Chance brought it up. He wanted to see Christian Roldan go into the middle of the park and bring Danny Massofski in.
I don't know if you and Schmittz were talking or not, but that was a really good idea from you and Brian because that really did change how we attacked and then we had better quality. But again, everything going right at Daniel Well.
I'm sure coach had on our halftime show.
You know, he obviously wanted to hear both of your analysts as he was done in the locker room walking back out on the pitch. But let's check in on tonight's Toyota man of the match, which of course is our goal scorer Albert Rusnak. He scored the game time goal in the eightieth minute, his second of the season, Albert Rushnak. Your local Toyota dealers are proud to present tonight's man of the match again, Albert Rushnak. What do you guys think of his performance tonight?
I thought Albert was fine. I didn't I don't think he was amazing, but that strike was incredible. You could see the little fine print on the soccer ball because it wasn't his at all. You know what, but I expect a lot from Albert. Albert's one of our big players. He needs to show up every single day. So I thought he did well and everything. But I was talking to Pete, I thought Georgie came on and did a fantastic job. He really was getting after people and running
by guys and getting you know, making things happen. So I would have put him up for player of the game as well.
Hard to argue with the goal from Albert, but Georgie was very good. I liked when Albert was doing the short corner kicks. I mean those were very well choreographed. The corner kicks where we've hit him in the mixer. You heard Brad and Jackson talking about it. It was big versus little. It was numbers to the advantage of San Jose. So the corner kicks. You know that the last corner didn't find anybody and that was the end
of the game. Unfortunately. I would like to see Albert on the ball more twenty five yards out so he can whether he's taken a shot, maybe not from there, but pulling some strings to make things happen. I thought, again, like the one that he whiffed on. He had he known that he could have just let it hit the ground again, he would add plenty of time to collect himself. So a very very good goal. But to chances point, we want more from that guy.
Well, and I like the matches here where we actually can have a debate of who is our man of the match, because especially, I mean, that's icing on the cake right there, especially in a match where we weren't able to pull out the win and we're still talking about really good play from a couple different players.
Well.

Hair Ball puts on an event, a mind blowing, drop dead accurate homage to some of the biggest arena acts in the world.
Emerald Queen Casino, the entertainment capital of the Northwest.
Very now on the left, back to the middle for Christian roll Dawn about twenty two yards out, sends it off to the right for Rusnak, put some space on the right. A shot isn't in the back of the net. Hey, sus Ferira finds the far side of the back and it is a Sounder's goal. As they finally get a ball past Daniel. It is one to one here in the eightieth minute, Albert Rusnak scoring for Seattle. That is his second goal of the year here in his sixth game.
As Daniel can only sit.
But what a move from Albert Rusnak to get around to defender, get himself some space and put that shot into the far side of the net. Sounders won San Jose one.
That is our Emerald Queen Casino play of the match, of course, the game tying goal by Albert Rusnack in the eightieth minute, his second goal of the season.
To play.
The match is presented by Emerald Queen Casino, the betting capital of the Northwest. Obviously, one of the positives today the Sounders are coming home with.
A point on the road.
But there are some other positives in this match, specifically the defense. Obviously, Stephan Frey put up a good performance, a little unlucky with the goal that he did give up. But what stood out to you on the backside, the defensive side of this squad today.
On the backside we did quite well. We were organized. They weren't getting a number of clear chances against Stefan on the goal. That one thing I thought, we talked about it. Jackson Reagan had a very, very, very good game. But on the goal, it would be a little bit better to step up and stay big versus sliding in like that, which which then you know, the deflection came
off of him went over, which was unlucky. But stepping up and standing and making himself get big I think would have been a little bit better.
Yeah, it's one of those, you know, six of these have a dozen of the others. Sometimes you get there and you get and you have to slide to extend yourself. But I feel bad for Fright because he's been so good for so many years. But this year, good Lord, five or six goals have gone in that Steph would look at and just shake his head. And again, I think the law of average is going to balance out. I'm looking forward to luck going our way a little bit. I thought the back three were very good today and
San Jose boy in transition very dangerous. And so when you're sprinting back towards your own goal and having to get positioned and having to clear balls while facing your goals, it's not as as not easy, and I thought the team well with that.
Well in any error in that part of the field is always amplified and exot and just the spotlight is on them because it is that last line of defense, as opposed to if it would happen farther up the field. Well, next up for the Sounders, we turn the page and we have got the new MLS side, San Diego FC. Next Saturday, April fifth, Seattle heads to San Diego for
a seven thirty kickoff at Snap Dragged Stadium. In San Diego, and a reminder that you can watch that via the MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app and listen on the Sounders FC radio stream channel on the iHeartRadio app and l Ray thirteen sixty am the Providence Swedish pre match show. We'll start at seven and as we look ahead to next week. Obviously match one is done, we've got two more on the road during this three match road swing before the Sounders return to Luman Field.
What's going to be your biggest takeaway.
From today's match or change you would like to see before the Sounders hit the pitch again next week.
I thought that they've taken steps forward from last week. I thought their play was much quicker. I was very happy with that. Going back to the defensive side of things. You know, we're joking about knew who in his shooting and everything, but that kid put in a shift today and he worked really hard. He had a lot of energy, and you know, just it's it's easier said than done.
But if he could just calm down a little bit when he is going to shoot, he would get a lot of a lot more great strikes like he did on the one shot with his zf foot and then the volley that he took. But yeah, I think the Sounders are are fine taking this point. We wanted more, we should could have gotten more, but I think we're gonna be okay with it.
It'd be interesting to see that I knew who does settle down now because those were two the two strikes back to back were really good quality and maybe they does give you confidence when you can hit a ball like that, if that's two feet other either direction, maybe three feet and maybe it's lower on the ground, it goes in. So hey, this San Diego team, they were up three to nothing today in the first half over LAFC and they're in stoppage time right now. LFC came
back and got two goals. But this is a team that's Vancouver has ten goals and and San Diego has ten goals. They're the only two teams that are double digits on goals for and you know they're three to one and two. So going to play there, this is going to be a highly energized crowd. It's kind of you know, you looked at San Jose and Bruce Arena comes in in the first two games. Man, they're coming out of the you know box is flying right, and
it's dropped off a little bit. But right now San Diego has got what we had in two thousand and nine, which was that tremendous energy. I remember you and I talking before the season. We're getting season tickets. Everbody's getting season ticket. Yes, you know, back in two thousand and nine, I didn't know.
They couldn't miss it, No, and everybody was doing that.
And so in San Diego there's a great buzz and they're riding a nice wave.
San Diego well, and.
San Diego is a good sports town.
I know they don't have that many professional teams, but Padres fans diard Padres fans out there. The Chargers, I know they were heartbroken when they went to Los Angeles, and so it's great to see them to have another professional team now. And I think it'll be I think it'll be fun to see the Sounders down there in a new environment and a new opportunity to hopefully get three big points on the road.
They are missing one thing. Back in the day, when we were trying to get more people to come to the games, we used to have concerts with not we the league did after the game and I remember one time we were playing at Jack Murphy Stadium down in San Diego and Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young played right afterwards. So we go in and shower, we come back out and boom, there they are. And when I played in Tulsa, the Beach Boys played right afterwards, so it was it
was amazing. So if they could add that to the game and we get a win, that would be incredible.
Okay, so we need to call Adrian Hanauer and be like, Okay, what do we need to do to get a concert after a Sounders match, just for some fun, extra fun, celebrate a Winna they're.
In the neighborhood.
Yeah, there's You know, some of the old ideas were good ideas, so we should maybe go back to those, like a shootout. It would be thirty five yard line shootout.
Oh yes, that was one of the best, one of the best.
That was fun. I've been a part of that. And you're getting chased right stampede.

All right, as we wrap things up here following the one one draw between the Sounders and the earthquakes, I'm challenging you both here one word to describe tonight's match, just one improvement, pressures on, pressures on one word, just one word.
Better, Okay, okay, improvement better.
From the first half to the second half. It was better there we go.
Okay, not just.
Was, but I thought I.
Was relieved that we were better in the second half and I saw more energy and movement and quality, and the defense was good. We're used to that. But I thought there's something.
To build on, absolutely something there, and it all shows in the score line. The Sounders come from behind to end this one in a one to one draw against the earthquakes, and that does it for us. Here on the Sounders FC post Matt Show for Chance Fry, Pete Feuing, Jacksonfeltz, Brad Evans, andrews Hurst on the board for us, and our amazing producer and director of broadcasting, Keighley Dunning.
