Welcome to the Sounders FC postmatch show. Sounders FC Soccer is brought to you by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. The Sounders Seen postmatch show starts now. It's a final from BMO Stadium here in Los Angeles, California. The hosts have taken this one LAFC one Seattle zero and is. We sit on the perch here outside a section one one twenty nine. We are watching many LAFC fans walking up this staircase with smiles on their faces,
and frankly, that makes me sick. But it was a well, well put performance from the Sounders, a good performance that they deserve to point but ultimately they do not get it. Jackson felt to Michelle Lutka here for the postmatch show. We're here for the next twenty thirty minutes or so to break this thing down. React to the one nothing loss for the Sounders at la F seem quickly, Sounder fans. The next fifty years starts now.

All right,
Michelle, let's start digging into this. And we were just talking off the air, and I think Sounders played really, really well for the last eighty nine plus stoppage minutes of this match, and it's frustrating that they don't get a point because of a first minute the first time LAFC touched the ball. They come down on a calendar, it's not defended well, it's well struck, and they get a goal in the first minute. But it's frustrating
the Sounders don't get a point because of a first minute goal. I couldn't agree more Jackson, and the Sounders deserve it. They deserve to be going home with at least a point here tonight. You said it, you know, a well struck ball. We were talking, like you said, off the air before we came on and that shot that goal, it was perfect one inch one direction would have hit the post one inch the other direction step
would have saved it. And then to be followed up by such a solid performance, especially in the first forty five minutes of play, and the Sounders traditionally kind of ease into matches, they kind of kick it up in a notch in the second half, but that was not the case here today. They were ready for this match. They've had six days of training going into this, they hadn't played a match in eleven days. They were camped and ready to play. They came to play, they played beautifully. It's just
really unfortunate that this is the outcome that we're going home. That first half, the response from the team after LAFC scored was fantastic, and the Sounders
with a better team in the first step. I mean, we don't all about highlight for the Emerald Queen Casino play of the match, but twenty second, twenty third minutes, and even though said the entire first twenty five minutes, you're seeing attack after attack and just waves of pressure from the Sounders on the south end here and towards goal, whether it's Leo off to the left, and then the twenty second minute you have Leo crossing into rolls shot saved
by John McCarthy, and then a twenty third minute changed the point of attack comes down the right, oh bed cross roll header saved again by McCarthy. He had a few minutes where he was standing on his head. I mean that build up right there. We don't have the highlight, but the platt that's the d play of the match presentatives always by Amerald Queen Casino, the betting capital of the Northwest, and Michelle really did feel like the one one
was there for them. There were so many chances those two, especially the late in this game, the wild series in the eighty seventh minute, where I mean there's a loose ball in the box and we don't know who's gonna come out with it. Ultimately, a cross is just too far for for anybody to get ahead on. But the one one felt like it was there for them, and you're just you're missing it. These these things by an inch, whether it's a head or one direction, whether it's a shot one
direction, whether it's a cross that's just a foot too far. It was so close for the Sounders, and that just adds to the pain. I think I think there's there are some positives we can gleam from this I think there's some positives we can take away, and I think the negatives obviously, it's really unfortunate the Sounders didn't pick up any points and LASC picked up a full three and extended their lead into first place in the Western Conference standings.
Right now, it's currently as Sounders are still in third place with nineteen points. But they were minor things. When I talked to head coach Brian Schmetzer at halftime about things that his team needed to clean up and change, really minor. He wanted more players in the box, He wanted the team to
be better off the set pieces. Defensively, he really wanted his team to watch on the counterattack, and I think for the most part we can say they did that, and they did that well in the final forty five minutes plus stoppage time of play. Now, as for the positives that I think we can take away, we already mentioned how well they came into this match, despite the early goal that they gave up and the pressure and attention and
accuracy that they'd played. Brian Schmister was telling us that they really spent a lot of time this last week going back to the basics, going back over the task tactics, because this team really did change so much in the off
season. But I think one of the biggest positives we need to take away from here today they didn't have Jordan Morris, they didn't have Christian rolled On, they didn't have Alex rolled On, and they had some different players playing in positions we hadn't normally seen them both in Cody Baker over on the right hand side, Nicol Ladaro back on the right hand side, something we haven't really seen him do since the twenty sixteen season, and there was some movement,
but his team was up to the task, and I think it was It was a lucky goal. It was a perfect lucky goal in the first minute of play. But other than that, I really feel like this one should have been a zero zero draw and we were going home with a point. Yeah, I completely feel the exact same way. Either it's one one or zero zero. The Saunders deserved a point in this game, and it's it's fust durning. At the end of the day, we're flying home and
it is a one nothing loss here to now first place LAFC. We'll take a break, we'll come back continue talking about this match, and then later on we'll start looking ahead to Saturday's match. It's a quick turnaround for Seattle, and that's a good thing for these players. They want to get home and they want to get right back at it. They'll have a chance to do that. We'll continue the postgame show coming up next from BMO Stadium in
Los Angeles. More next on Sports Radio ninety three point three k JR FM. Welcome back to BMO Stadium, Los Angeles, California, where you're Seattle. Sounder is a fall in tonight to LAFC by a score of one nothing. It was a first minute goal by Bobus and it was well struck to put past Stephen Fry. You know, it's it's a it's a save that maybe a few years ago he makes, but now pretty much every average goal keeper is gonna miss that one. It's a tough fall to save, really
well struck, and this LAFC get that in the first minute. Saunters Man deserve a point out of this, but they don't find it. It has won nothing the final score. Jackson felt to Michelle Lucky here on the post match show, and Michelle, I mean, for a moment, I hate to give any credits. I to say anything good about about LAFC, one of our rivals, but being here in this stadium and the atmosphere that these
fans creates it was it was pretty cool to watch. I know there are many moments where these supporters you that have to have done very bad things and chanted bad things, but the atmosphere created tonight was very special. Michelle and uh And at the end of the day, I think we felt it here in this building. And this is a building that's extremely tough for the Sounders to win. We remember the West Final back in twenty nineteen, but it's
it's been hard to find points in this building other than that. Absolutely, that's the only time the Sounders have ever won down here in this facility since m LAFC has has has entered the league. What is it about this place? I don't know. And I was thinking about that, but as we were preparing for tonight's match of Hey, you know that was a postseason match Sounders of number one here in the regular season, and you mentioned the fan
base and yeah, see, the atmosphere is great. We also, I think, really need to give it up to the ownership and the event management of this place. Because the pageantry and the way that they set the tone from the beginning. It's beautiful and it's it's done incredibly well. Again, not wanting to give them credit, but also not surprising. We are in the entertainment capital of the world that it would be the spectacular. Um,
but I don't it's intimidating. I mean even to the fact it maybe intimidating is not the right word. No, I mean you look it over there to the three two five too. You look at the actual like stands and how they're building. It almost looks like a wall there. I mean it is. You've got fans literally pitch side all of the suites. There is no space. They're literally on the sideline. It's something I would like to
see. I'm really, I'm I'm. I think it's unfortunate the Sounders are done playing LAFC for the regular season in this year, because I hope we get another chance. I would love another chance to come down here, because I don't want this to become one of those rivalries where it builds like this and then it becomes a more daunting task to come down here, because I don't think it needs to be. Yes, LAFC is a good team. We can't take anything away from them. They just became the fastest team in
league history to hit three hundred points. That is impressive. But they're not unbeatable, and the Sounders have beaten them in some really big moments. I think the interesting part is when we talk about losing con Cap Champions League like they did, it looked like they could have suffered a hangover back to back losses to Houston, But now the picture completely changes. Back to back wins over a Surgeon, Kansas City team and a Seattle team that still third place
in the Western Conference. So LAFC. If we thought there was going to be a hangover post con Cap Champions League, we ain't seen it right now, and that is a scary thought. For the rest of the twenty and twenty three regular season, we'll see what happens. In terms of what's next for the Sounders. We will get to that coming up next. Delta Airlines is product to donate one soccer ball for every mile ran by Sounders FC players this season. Three Foundations, one Mile, one Ball program. We'll tell
you about Seattle's match back home on Saturday. That comes up next on the post match show Radio ninety three point three KJRFM. Welcome back to VMO Stadium here in Los Angeles, California. You're Seattle Saturs, falling Tonight's to the host's LAFC by a score of one nothing wild atmosphere, wild game, but it's a first minute goal from LAFC that gets them the winner. But now
it's time to take a look ahead at what's next for your Sounders. Gotta turn the page as the team will fly home here tonight and get back to Seattle early in the morning. Saunders will be hosting Orlando City Seeing this Saturday, so quick turnaround here on June twenty fourth, seven thirty. Kickoff probably
in Swedish. Prematch will be at seven o'clock and you can listen to that match right here Sports Radio ninety three point three kjr F and you also watch the match for free on the Apple tv app and also listen in Spanish like we's on LA thirteen sixteen. Get here in tickets, of course, to this match back at Louman Field by visiting Sounders fc dot com slash tickets and Saturday's match is presented by Starbucks, the official pride partner of Sounders FC.
Starbucks and Sounders FC partnering together to celebrate pride and Michelle's We were just talking off the air, you know, one of the things looking at the decisions from Brian Schmittzer and the subs. Nico comes off, JP comes off, RUI, DZ comes off, Chew comes off. All these powerful offensive players did not get a full ninety minutes, which tells me that we're going into Saturday's match aginst Orlando with a full squad and a chance to get back on
track and pick up three points back at home. Absolutely, we hope for a quick recovery. We hope that tonight's match leaves a nasty taste in the Sounders match or mouths I should say, and that they're ready to get back out and kind of right the ship comes Saturday. I also like that Orlando who's coming to Seattle to take on the Sounders they played tonight. Also, they had a midweek match They've played Philadelphia and they ended in a two two
draw there. That's a good result, by the way, that's a really good result, very good result. But I like that they're in Orlando right now and going to have to travel after a Wednesday match across the country. That bodes well for us for the toll that that takes on one's body and how difficult that turnaround is. But when we look at the two teams kind of head to head, Orlando their seventh currently in the Eastern Conference standings,
but they're only one point behind the Sounders. Sounders have twenty eight points on the season, Orlando has twenty seven, so it should be a good match.
The Sounders, I think are they started so strong at home this year, had kind of a little rocky mix in there, and now that we're officially full on in the second half of the season, I think now is the time to hit the gas and really do what they set out to do this season, and that was return luman Field to the fortress at once was absolutely Brian doesn't like calling it a fortress, but let's face it, we
all want to call it a fortress. That was the late grade. I think Schmid that was what he always loved to say, and it's just I don't think I'll ever be able not to say it loved And yeah, it is time to get that place back to being a fortress and back to getting three points there, and hopefully that does start with Orlando. That'll be a fun, tough match. But a Sounder is still missing, of course, Jordan Morris, Christian rold On, Alex Rodon all to the Gold Cup.
We wish Jordan and Christian and Alex all good luck and Mack and grats to Alex. By the way, a killer golf for Salvador, game winner at the end, amazing goal for Alex Rodon for El Salvador. He captains that squad, So good luck to all those three guys. Sounders will be missing him, but should be. And by the way, Cody Baker came off too, so Cody Baker, you know he should be ready to rock and roll if Brian Spencer calls his number for Saturday. So we'll see what Schmetz
and the crew throw out there against Orlando City once again. Seven o'clock Providence Sweedish prematch shows seven thirty kickoff right here in ninety three point three kjr FM on Saturday, Sounders hosting Orlando at Movie. So we will see you back in Seattle. We're gonna hit the plane. Team's gonna hit the plane. We'll be back in Seattle soon and we'll get the heads right and get back on the training pitch. Sounders back at it tomorrow and here we rock co
Rock and roll. See you guys at Louman Field on Saturday. But once again here. It was a wonderful opportunity to be here in Los Angeles. Beautiful couple days here in LA.
