Welcome to the Sounders FC Post match Show. Sounders FC Soccer is brought to you by Providence, Swedish official healthcare partner of Seattle Sounders FC. The Sounders F Seen post match show starts now it's a final from bloomin Field, Seattle zero Orlando City zero. Here tonight, let's go down out of the field. Michelle luckhell with newhoo Now, who thank you for taking the time? That was a That was a hard fought match, a frustrating match. How

did you think it all played out here tonight? I mean, yeah, we know off games, you know we missed it off to pay off. Yeah, the butchaba hosni. We play very well, which didn's call we could be a cliche, which is gonna look forward off. Speaking of that clean sheet, that was a big bright spot of this one, the tenth clean sheet for this team this season on my amazing mark, top of the league right now, What is it about that back line that's clicking so well?

Yeah? I mean we walked hot a lot intended. You know, we see this, yeah, you know to one day best m defense this year. So it's everybody's not No, it's just the back for so we've been together out than ten Shit tonight, it's happy you're unlucky with GINI scolled a goal. Yeah, sat at home. Ally, we're gonna have good resolved. It's been a it's been an interesting stretch that you guys have been on only two wins at the last eleven MLS matches. Obviously people have been

away, like you alluded to international duty. There's been some injuries, some other things going on. How do you think the team's kind of mental side, mentality side is right now with the game. Are you guys staying positive? Yeah, of course, I know you know MLSC it's hardly honestly, it's getting better every year, so yeah, I mean it's happening to everybody. So acting now, we're just needed to walk hard, like I said,

stay focused and you see a very long sison. So for sure, if you're gonna back to that, yeah, one week until you're back on this pitch for the next match. What do you think the team needs to focus on and improve on before that? Aten to improve a lot of offensive decide because defensive, if you look very goody good at you're gonna attending. Yeah, who, thank you so much for the time that's Michelle love Ken

there with knew who on the field. And let's just pick back up on his last comment there as we begin the postgame show, Jackson Felts, Marcus Hanham and Pete viewing here for the next half hour to break this thing down once again. Zero zero tonight between Sounders and Orlando City. Pete. Offensively, uh, this team has now scored more than two goals once in the last or two or more goals once in the last two months. That came

with Christian rolled On on the field. Now there's zero goal performance here tonight. What is not working offensively right now? The lineup we've got, We've got four guys right, But is it as simple as that? Well, I mean you got on the right hand side, Christian rolled On, he gives us a lot. On the left hand side, Jordan Morris, I don't think he's been in his best form in the last five, six, seven games, but the waist he's got nine goals, right, so you

gotta give him credit for that. And then rue Da is being out and being injured, you know, the hamstring issue back and forth, so you're playing with a group and then you don't have Alex Well don who's got three

assists, you know, from the right back position. So we're you know, you could hear in Brian Schmitzer's voice yesterday when he talked about, Hey, Christian's gonna be gone, Jordan's gonna be gone, Alex gonna be one three more weeks that that makes it tough, right You When you build a team, you don't build a team to go off to international duty, right you build a team that's gonna go win. And it is the tenth clean sheet, they stay high in the table, third place, they're on twenty

games. Everybody else's nineteen or eighteen. But it's and even even when we did have I was down on the field today and when Christian wrold On sub back in for the first time after his concussion protocol and going through the whole process, you could feel the energy in the stands and on the field, and it was, ay, here we go, get me the ball. And he was very effective and he had a different pace than I've seen.

Uh, And so right now, you know, it's it's Uh, it's a little bit difficult when you don't have your first when you have four starters who three or a way on national team duty, And frankly, you know, really Dias has been on national team duty, so he's of that caliber as well. So that's where that's where it's tough. Sometimes you you'll look and you say, what's the problem. Well, we don't have our first selection out there, Marcus. It is as simple as that for you.

Where where we just need everybody back? Or is there something going on today that that you saw this team as it's set up today could have gotten more goals but something didn't happen. What did you see out there? Well? Defensively, like, I mean, we're pretty good. Stephan Fry came up with a couple of big saves today and they had some really good chances that you know, arguably better chances than than we did today. Um. But when the sounders created you know, that's sixteen shots. I mean I camera

like two or three on target. That was it. Um, And that's just not good enough. Right. And you know we talked about la crosses when when things aren't going well, we don't have your best players. You know, I hear what you guys are saying, but but I'm not buying it. You got to figure out a way to get a result. And because this is a long season. And if we're counting on only when Christian roll dance here and Jordan Morris and Ruey Diaz, well we're not going to

win the MLS Cup. I can guarantee you that. So we need to figure out a way to play when we don't have those guys. And you know, sometimes it's all about the possession. Oh, we got to keep the ball. And you know, I mean I can't stand that. I want to win the game and if that means we got to smash it in the corners. And you know we're you know today where we uh needing a Will bruin up top to just to win some headers type of thing. You

know, Abart didn't have a had a few good chances today. But you know, when you look, when you have to manufacture a result, right, you got to pump the ball up sometimes play it long. And you know, I'm kind of old school, so I always think this way when things aren't going well, I don't necessarily want to roll it out to my backs. And if you do, have to play more direct, and how do you do that? You don't even have to win the first ball,

You could win the second ball. You're now playing in their final third. We didn't even attempt that today very much, and at or at all. And you know, a bear is not the best at winning the ball but in the air. But okay, guess what. Goalkeepers aren't the best at playing the ball, but we make them play the ball out of the back.

You know, they're they're the goalie. So everybody's got to improve and for this team to to go on to that next level, right, everybody's got to find a way when we don't have those key guys to get a result. Couldn't agree more with every word of that. Yeah, well, and individually too, guys got their chances. This is an opportunity for a lot of guys. And so you're right, they got to this level because of they've had success. They've got to have success at this level. Yep.

Absolutely, Sounders could not get the three points tonight, and we're the final score of zero zero between Seattle and Orlando's City. Let's quickly tell you and I we'll get to the play of the match coming up next. We'll get to man of the match coming up in our next sevement of this post match show. Following the zero zero game, Sounder fans sound Transit would like

Next on the postmatch show Sports Radio ninety three point three KJRFM, Welcome back to Emerald Queen Casino Fitch at louwin Field, where your Seattle Sounders played Orlando City to a zero

zero draw tonight. I will tell you right now that tonight's Toyota Man of the Match with his tenth clean sheet of the year, is Stephen Fry. Your local Toyota dealers are proud to present tonight's man of the match, and we'll transition that into our Emerald Queen Casino Play of the match or in the

thirty fifth minute, Stephen Fry kept the clean sheet tonight for Seattle. Most of the top of the six shot books ahead today was a saved by Stephen frye that was McGuire who found a bucket of space edit a bull down to Stephen Fry's right hand side, but eventually saved by the sound as goalkeeper. The play. The match is presented by Emerald Queazino, the betting capital of

the Northwest, the entertainment capital of the Northwest as well. So for the Sounders, yes, no goals offensively, and we can again talk about that. We can talk about you know, we talked about at the halftime show, Nicholas Lado's positioning on the bright side, and that's important to find some

bright side. Pete ten clean sheets for seven Fry. I believe the MLS record for a single season is sixteen, maybe seventeen, So Fry is you know, six or seven away with fourteen games to go from equalizing an MLS record, and quite a big one there. So it's so cool for Steff here to night. Well, defense does win championships, and boy, those ten shutouts have certainly kept Seattle higher up the table, so that's good. I think Fry is definitely the MVP of today's game. I did like Jackson

Reagan's game as well. I thought it's just just really aware of his positioning, very different, didn't lose anything aerially. Every duel in the air he won, you know, easily. So I've been impressing he's good with his feet. I thought he had a pretty good game. Friday deserves it because he came up with some big clutch saves. But yeah, defensively, the fact that they're not giving up goals is a good thing. They've just got a fine ways to get goals. They gotta have some fun in practice on

scoring. I remember when Gonzo Pinedo was here and they had now it was Opefemi and it was and it was Clint Dempsey. But after practice it was really fun to watch the three of them work together on finishing, finishing, finishing. So the more you do, the more confident you get, better understanding you get. So Marcus, you're the goalie, right, how do you get goals? Well? I love the clean sheet bonus. That was that was the one benefit of playing. Yeah, get that clean sheet bonus.

That was always nice at the end of the game. And I mean, things aren't going horribly for the Sounders, but it is a little bit disappointing because the Sounders need to score goals, right, and how do you do that? And you know we talked about earlier. It's cross and taking advantage of your set pieces, and you know, we did have a few good opportunities today that came from the crosses, but not enough. And I mean we have to crossbar once, I believe, right, and yeah,

twite there would work twice in the first three minutes. Yeah, And so you know you look at that and you're like, well, if one of those goes in, right, um, you know how your luck changes. And then Orlando has to push and then maybe we hit him on a break, and now we're talking about a two nil win, right, And and that's the fine line between winning and you know, coming out with a draw.

But if defensively and you know, Stephen doesn't come up with those big says, which how key it is, you know, because Orlando had a couple of good chances and you know you could you could argue and say they missed one in the second half, but you know, as a goalkeeper, I'm gonna argue. Stephen's right positioning was perfect. He wasn't out too far, he wasn't back too far and made him shoot right in the corner. And this is what I tell my kids when I'm coaching him, like,

you got to make them shoot in the corners. And when you do that, they miss half the time. And any any drug it wide, so it's you know it. You know, I would argue that might be you know, without even saving it. You know, he's done his job there and remarkably well by holding that position. And you know, um, you know we were talking earlier Pete about you know, when did you you know, when you got older, you know, did you feel like you lost

anything? And you're like, no, you just got smarter, right, Yeah, you're standing in the right positions and and and you and if you've never been faced in a goal with the ball coming in whipped in and you can't come for it, you got to drop back and then you know you're not sure if your guy's going to clear it or not, comes through your crowd, and then that little surprise. Editor, it's a great say from Steph and Fry today. Yeah, and to keep him in it. You

know, those are really hard to react to. And it doesn't look like step and Fries losing a step there, So that's good at all. You know, I like your point about crosses. I think you've got to get him in, But I haven't seen us really come down the middle and have combinations or third man running with someone, you know, ball being played in a barrel, laying it off to a rustuck on the side and getting a free look. We really didn't have any free looks around the edge. Not

too many around the edge of the box. And if you become one dimensional, it starts to it makes it easier for the defense. But I didn't see did you see any combinations around the edge of the box that not a lot. There was a couple on a cross that got back and set back, and we had a couple of chances there. But the guys in the middle of the park today, in our midfield are making all the money. You know, they need to step up, they need to do you know.

And you know, Nico Ladero one of the one of our you know, best players we have tonight, you know, we were talking about it looked like he was trying to do too much, trying to run all over the place. And as you get older, you know you can't do that. And Nico's the guy who works harder than anybody. And the reason why Christian roll Dan is so good is because Nico Ladero when we came on and I remember Schmittz we had the day off and UH came in the locker room

and he goes oh, Christian, did you enjoy your day off? What did you do? And he goes, oh, I went and played golf and he goes, oh, m. Nico was in here working on his game yesterday and Schmetz walked out, you know, and it's like, know that having a good pro, having a good pro like that, you know somebody to look up to. This the reason why Christian Roll Dan is as good as he is. Yeah, and Alex says he's as good as he is because a Christian, it's something you pass down right. It's the work,

ethic and the effort. I did just get the official stat in here. Nicholas Letero ran four billion miles today. Actually it's an MLS record. It's quite amazing. Now he did. He did play all over the field today. All right. Well, in terms of the Sounders finding goals, they may make it. Rudiez back. If you're just joining us and you hadn't heard. Roll lost his father unexpectedly earlier this week. He currently is in Peru with his family. So, as Brian Spencer said a press compas

on Friday, they believe he'll be back on Monday. So Rol Rudiez back for the club. For their next match. We'll tell you all about the next match and the week ahead for the Sounders coming up next on the post match show following a zero zero game between Seattle and Orlando tonight. More next on the Sports Radio ninety three three KJRFM. Welcome back to emeral Que Casino Pitch at lumen Field and welcome back to the postmatch show Sounders in Orlando City

Well it sound will take a look ahead at what's next for the club. No no midweek match,

so it will be a week from tonight. Right back here at Emerald Queen Casino Pitch at luman Field, same place, same time they will be hosting your Sounders hosting Houston Dynamo FC there on July first, seven o'clock Providence Swedish premat show right here on Sports Radio ninety three point three kjr FM.

Seven thirty kickoff there against Houston. You know, also watch the match via MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app or listen also in Spanish language on Lery thirteen sixty And as I mentioned our prematch show here on KJR, we'll begin at seven o'clock. So as mentioned there that previous segment, we're all rudy guys. We'll be back from Peru, so you expect that the starting

information against Houston. You know, this is just a guess, but probably I would think be the same life that we saw against Los Angeles FC. They're on Wednesday, where same as this week and same as tonight against against Orlando, but instead of a bear, it is roll up front. So Pete'll start with you what needs to happen, what needs to change, if anything, in order to a score goals and be get three points. They gotta finish. They gotta finish their chances right. They get the quality and

the at Marcus said it right, the crosses, the restarts. I'd like to see more coming straight down the middle. Guys have to find space inside the box where they can create an opportunity and get a good look at the goal. You know, when you think about all of George Morris's nine goals, most of them have been getting to the online, cutting it back Jordan, making a good quality run and finishing from within the sixth and so more of those have to be created. Now. It's gonna have to be Reallydeas

is a very lethal finisher. You got to put him in a spot to be able to do it, and then they got to keep the clean sheets. Houston is in fourth place. Ben Olsen's done a great job of, you know, giving that club some stability. I'd say the first time since Dominic u can hear right, a long time ago, right, they really they seem to have an identity and um, and they're and fourth and they want to come here and no seatle off and jump past him. So um,

you got to keep them off the off the score sheet. But it's got to be quality. It's really a simple, isn't it. Dominic knar x sounder as well, by the way, you want to shout a really funny guy by the way, Yeah, he's a super good sense of humor. Yeah. I got a chance to play with him in the old days

a Memorial Stadium great too. Yeah, And I do have to clarify Casey is actually a pretty good bass fisherman and stuff, but he's not a very good no. But I know I'm going to hear about it, but not a still you love the bass fisher but um cross cross processes crosses, right, So when things aren't going perfect, right, you got to find a way to get in behind right um, And you know, combination play on the outside and if Niko Laedero slides out, you know, too far,

there's not enough space. And if he's you know, comes inside, you're now you're counting on one of the young guys to be able to read exactly what Nico's doing and take that space, and um, you know it it's wasn't It wasn't perfect tonight. But like Pete said, you know, finishing and if one of those balls hits off the crossbar and goes in, we're

talking about a different game, right, And that's the fine line. But I mean, you know, sixteen shots, we only had two on frame um, and that's just not good enough, like we especially when you think of the fans who come out here, you know, they were disappointed at the end, right. They want to see more exciting game and if that means pumping it in the corners, and chasing it down and just pressuring guys, if that's what you got, that's what you gotta do, because you

gotta find a way to win the game. Absolutely. I mean, I think what you do is you just widen the goal just a little bit and make sure those balls hit off the exactly just their goal ones that went off the woodwork today. Let's just make sure those go in the next time. Of you you know that energy that you talked about. There was a couple of moments late in the game where Seattle had a number of combinations. They were the mall, ball was moving side to side, going forward into spaces.

They were pressing when they lost the ball to keep the ball in the in the defensive third of Orlando. Um, they just got to get something out of it. And you're right, Marcus, if you get one goal, our conversations totally different, right, because if one of those go in and exactly what you said, Marcus, then later in the game they owe things open up, you get a breakaway and it's too nothing like we saw

a number of times at the start of the year. Yeah, two or three nothing and the or it turns into what a great professional one zero win. Yeah, with the team that's not step clean sheet. Yeah, what

a great game. And that's the difference. And everything is so fine, and you know, my new changes affect everything, and you know, especially on the field, right, how like how when you have new players come in and you know, but I don't like excuses, right, and you know you got to find a way when you got the young kids to come in and do a job, right, and you got to make it simple, right, don't win the game for us, don't cost the game for

us. That's what should happen, right, And then you've got the guys making all the money that need to make the game happen, right, And it just didn't have enough today. Say in the locker room, what do you think? I don't know, I don't know. It's a it's it's a tough it's a tough day. It's going to be really frustrating, right for everybody in there. And then you know, you know, knew he was like, well, you know, defensively we were good again. You

know it's our tenth clean sheet. Things are going pretty well. Well, Hey, guess what, You've got a great back five back there, right, pretty organized, and Reagan's come in. You know, new guy stepped in this year, this year and doesn't look like a young guy. He's been playing with experience in the right position when his headers does his job, and he's getting better with his feet. I don't think he gave a ball

away tonight with his feet, you know. Yeah, and played some in balls too, right, not just out you know, easy out outside balls, but played a couple inside balls. And you know he's looking great. Yeah. Well, for your Sounders, they will be back at it right here next Saturday against Houston once again.
